Thanks, Bill Belichick

October 27th, 2020

Secret to Bucs’ success.

Yes, the Bucs are in a playoff race. Joe feels it. Or maybe Joe’s thinking of creepy Patriots owner Bob Kraft’s visits to Asian strip mall boutiques in Jupiter.

The Bucs are 5-2 and nobody is playing better. For the first time in franchise history, the Bucs just had back-to-back wins of 25 or more points. Impressive.

However, Joe’s good friend Jason McIntyre of FOX Sports, who hosts a weekday podcast known as “Straight Fire,” believes the success of the Bucs is directly tied to Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Why is that? McIntyre believes Belichick’s ego forced foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski into retirement and chased away park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting quarterback Tom Brady. And the two escaped the frigid north and Belichick’s even icier personality for warm Tampa Bay and the embrace of offensive-gunslinger, players coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

An excerpt of McIntyre’s take is in the FOX Sports audio below. It is interesting in his first year away from Belichick, Brady is absolutely torching opposing defenses. At 43-years old!

BRADY LUVS BL and the magic he’s working!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  2. Roy T. Buford Says:

Other than the media clip by itself, this rates as Joe’s #1 useless article of the week (but the week is young), due to all the monikers laced into the article to obscure any real subject. Makes the blog overall incorrectly appear low-budget to a casual reader. Sadly, pro-kneeldown, BLM-loving, politicizing, ESPN beats Joe out in this every time.

But, thanks for the video, Joe!

  3. JA Says:

Reading about Belicheck’s rare off year got me to thinking about all the horrible coaches the Bucs have had through the years. Joe should have a poll for the worst coach ever. My vote, without the slightest equivocation, would go to Leeman Bennett!
Although Perkins was pretty bad too …

  4. ClodHopper Says:

Told my Bronco fan buddy just yesterday the Bucs are 5-2 and the Patriots are 2-4. Guess we know which goat carried the other goat to those 6 rings.

He said, Awfully bold since it’s only week 7. I said not too bold. We’ve already reached our win total for half of the last ten years and the Patriots have already reached their loss total in most of the last 20 years.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Yep…..something is wrong in NE…….I think it’s AB…….No, not Antonio Brown,……Absence of Brady…..

  6. Anonymous Says:

@Clod, my Patriot fan friends that live locally have decidedly started following the Bucs, all due to Brady, and they would agree with you. Other than TBT (that few read based on its dying circulation), it is a shame that other than the Bucs themselves and the some 3rd rate sports talk radio, Brady is not better-lauded for his amazing impact on this football town. That remains to be something Boston has better than Tampa Bay…real media outlets and professional reporting that is also timely.

  7. Joe in Michigan Says:

Remember the Raiders teams of the 1970’s, who would always pick up players who other teams deemed “too old” or in need of an image reclamation? Guys like Ted Hendricks, Jim Plunkett, Lyle Alzado, etc.? That’s the 2020 Bucs, and as Al Davis would say, “JUST WIN, BABY!!”

  8. Ivan The Insider Says:

    HOW ABOUT THIS IMPRESSIVE STAT:

In all 7 games so far this season, the 2020 Bucs have held the lead at some point in every game. EVERY GAME.

When’s the last time that has happened? How many games in prior seasons did we fall behind and never catchup for the rest of the game?

  9. Joe in Michigan Says:

JA: The Bucs had the WORST OWNER in the early years, not just a lot of bad coaches. With Hugh Culverhouse, terrible started from the top in Tampa.

  10. ClodHopper Says:

That pic of Belichick tho 😂😂😂 He looks like Dan Ackroyd towards the end of Trading Places.

Maybe Kraft and the Glazers had a one dollar bet on what would happen if you split up the goat shack.

  11. Brandon Says:

BB’s motto was always, It’s better to get rid of a guy a season or two too early than a season too late. All these years with a great contingency plan at QB and now the Pats have none.

Pats had Garrapolo, Matt Cassel, Jacoby Brissett, and few other guys with talent and now when they finally need a guy, they’ve got nothing.

  12. August 1976 Buc Says:

JA you have a couple of good canidates lol. L Bennett was 4 – 28 record I believe. He was just horrible, but Ray Perkins, was terrible also and liked less than Bennett by the fans even thou Ray won more games. Perkind ran 3 a day practices during training camp. And on game days Perkins had the Bucs on the sideline that always faced the sun. Even his wife was like ” what is up with that” lol Thankyou Bill, it is nice to have the GOAT for QB. Oh btw Bill how about your 43% winning percentage all time with out Tom. GO BUCS!!!!!!

  13. Brady Backer Says:

Skipped over whole article as soon as I read the stupid Brady moniker. Everyone who reads and agrees respond. We don’t need ur stupid negativity it’s not funny…..

  14. Allbuccedup Says:

Don’t let Licht or Arians fool you Brady’s running this team. What ever he says goes that’s why he left the Pats Belicheat was not going to let him run the team. The Pats are in rebuilding mode. The Bucs are going to ride Brady for two years then drop back to the cellar where they would be without Brady.

  15. iamrhenry Says:

My vote goes to Richard Williamson. Nice guy but out of his league. I believe he replaced Perkins and they kept him another year cuz he/owners were cheap.

  16. iamrhenry Says:

When Brady hangs up his cleats, he could make a fortune as the next quarterback whispering head coach. Fierce competitor who learned from one of the best head coaches ever would be in high demand. The Glazers should just seal the deal now by handing him a post dated blank check.

  17. geno711 Says:

My vote also goes to Richard Williamson. Clueless coach.

  18. Steven007 Says:

First off, Roy I feel your pain as I think you already know! That crap puts a middle school glaze over the whole article. As for the actual topic, Nice to see Belichick making the wrong call for a change. Well, I guess it wasn’t his call exactly, but the reason it wasn’t was because of him ultimately.

  19. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Allbuttup – your speculation is worthless. We can all speculate on how we envision the future a few years from now – which is a waste of time. Negativity gets you nowhere in life.

  20. iamrhenry Says:

Geno most who post on here have not experienced the true misery of being a Bucs fan. If you know Richard Williamson, you have probably been through the Yuc years as long as I have which is since 76 when the old sombrero was still open ended.

  21. Steven007 Says:

74, I see what you did there with his name! Funny stuff.

  22. Allbuccedup Says:

74 Bucs fart your comments are worthless I could give two sh_ts whay you think.

  23. Allbuccedup Says:

I guess maybe 74 Bucs hole was 12 years of positive thinking is finally going to yield a playoff appearance.

  24. PSL Bob Says:

Before the season began, I was curious as to who would have the better hand this season. Who was more responsible for making the Patriots click, Brady or Belichick? Well, I think the answer is in, as described in McIntyre’s piece. However, I’m not so sold on Belichick’s brilliance. You can have great offensive schemes, but you need a quarterback to execute those schemes. If we all agree that Brady is the GOAT, then Belichick will never have that level of talent running his offenses again, and I doubt he will come anywhere near to having the success he’s had the last two decades. The glory days are gone Bill! Hope you enjoyed them, because they’re over.

  25. Allbuccedup Says:

74 Buts man name calling will get you nowhere, HAHAHA!

  26. John Says:

The year Jimmy G was traded was supposed to be Tom’s last year in Foxborough until Bob stepped in. That was Bill’s plan. Since then Bill has been working to get out from under Tom. Now he has his wish. Without Tom Bill does not have a winning record.

  27. SufferingSince76 Says:

The new posters need to chill. Joe doesn’t have disrespect for Brady. Whining about the monikers just makes you…..whiny.

  28. Joe Says:

Joe doesn’t have disrespect for Brady.

    Thank you!

  29. Buc1987 Says:

    PSL Bob…so far you’re right.

I’m glad they gave us Brady….ecstatic.

It’s fun to watch him work when he’s on like Donkey Kong.

Should have known all summer it was going to be like this and I didn’t.

    Go Bucs!!!

  30. August 1976 Buc Says:

lol iamrhenry so your are another yuc fan from the beginning lol. It was bad enough to see them play, but then the fans with the paper bags over their heads. Leeman Bennett started out 0-10 in 1985. Definately bag head material. lol For me Richard is #4 worst lol but yes he was a good guy, he was one of Ray Perkins buddies on the staff, that took over when they sent Ray packing. So #1 L Bennett, is tied with Lovie, #3 Ray Perkins #4 Williamson lol. As a Fan since the preseason of 1976, I am very thankful that Bucs of 2020 are a legit contender and not another teams homecoming game, like much of this teams history.. GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  31. Buc1987 Says:

    Poor Richard Williamson.

He was just a WR coach turned HC overnight.

This is all right around the time I became a Bucs fan. 1987 – Present.

    Perkins/Williamson. Vinny years!

  32. Buc1987 Says:

    Remember The Ray Perkins Show?

It was hard staying awake while watching it.

i agree. I have said the same thing multiple times. He reads our comments but doesn’t care. Another Tampa Bay blog would go bonanza because his constant negativity in detailing players has become stale. I have been saying the same thing for SEVEN games. But JoeButtHurt has become the guy who farts in the car and laughs. When no one laughs with him, he farts again. He never catches on that he is becoming an unnecessary inconvenience.

  34. Boston Boy Says:

“Joe’s good friend Jason McIntyre of FOX Sports, who hosts a weekday podcast known as “Straight Fire,” believes the success of the Bucs is directly tied to Patriots coach Bill Belichick.”
Really.? the guy is a freaking genius. Nobody else would have ever figured out the obvious. Belichick won 6 Super Bowls because of Brady. He could have won more had he not spent the majority of the time saddling Brady with inept woebegone receivers. Brady always had to do more with less. NO other QB could have done what Brady did. Not Manning not Rodgers, not Mahommes. They would look just like Cam Newton did last week. Hopeless.
Maybe if you paid more attention to football detail instead of yourself. You could have wrote this without even mentioning Jason McIntire. Its COMMON KNOWLEDGE to those of us that do.

  35. PSL Bob Says:

Damn Boston Boy, wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

  36. Buc1987 Says:

Boston Boy…nobody makes you come here silly Boston Lib.

    You could just stay away.

  37. Idahobucfan Says:

The long drawn out verbiage to describe our qb is either a cry for help, or a weak attempt to make your articles long enough for someone to call it an article. It does nothing to make the post any better. Please, show a little respect.

  38. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Coaches coach, players play!! Any coach that thinks his success is all because of his system or play calls are fooling themselves!! .. Brady was the glue there not really for his play itself but the respect he demanded from his teammates because of his work ethic and ability to compete even higher under massive pressure!! .. people respect that and will risk injury by playing harder on that last snap that doesn’t matter, or that junk time throw that gets you in tune more!! He changes the whole perspective of the players around him!! And if you enjoy quantum physics and know about the double split experiment .. our whole reality may be based on how we perceive it collectively!! So if you have a whole team believing in you then success normally happens!! … We as a world could do that and end hunger and war…. Reality is consciousness and time based… I think Brady is really into all that stuff too!!!

  39. REDZONE BA Says:

To all the moniker-complainers: JBF is a FREE site! With timely, relevant blogs focused on BUCs news. Just SKIP over the parts you dislike. Or try finding better and good luck with that.

Now to the blog – BB clearly thought he was letting go of Brady either a year early thinking Brady’s skills were on decline or was not willing to pay $30M for a single position, albeit the most important team position. Right now, seems like a bad gamble by BB. Long season. But Bucs and Brady/Gronk are smoking right now.

  40. ClodHopper Says:

IMO Joes idiosyncrasies are an asset. You can get mayonnaise anywhere. Joe has a house sauce you can’t find any where else.

  41. William Berry Says:

When you’re a true fan, you identify with any player who wears the uniform. That means, when you use harsh monikers the way it’s done here at JoeBucsFan.com, it’s like razzing your brother. It builds a feeling brotherhood with the people who put their bodies on the line every game and ate willing to share their earned glories with us through that uniform. For heavens’ sake, you people who don’t get that need to stop looking for opportunities to take offense. Stop being so weak!
