Glazer: Injuries Led To Brown Signing

October 23rd, 2020

Spoke with Bruce Arians Friday.

If you think there is something up with Mike Evans and/or Chris Godwin related to injuries as motivation for the Bucs signing nutcase/cancer Antonio Brown, you are not far off.

Uber NFL insider Jay Glazer, who Joe once saw with his own eyes bar-hopping in Jerry Jones’ Cowboys bus at the combine in Indianapolis, put out a video report on Twitter about the Bucs signing Brown.

Joe is under the belief that part of this was that Evans and/or Godwin are hurt worse than the Bucs have let on. Both have been hampered by injuries to their wheels all season, Godwin a hamstring and Evans a hamstring and ankle.

Glazer’s information did not shoot down Joe’s hunch. Glazer noted park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback Tom Brady had gone to Arians earlier this year to plead for the Bucs to sign Brown and Brady was told that simply wasn’t going to happen.

Arians, per Glazer, told Brady if the Bucs were banged up at receiver, he would rethink his stance.

You can see Glazer’s report in the FOX Sports video below.

  1. DaBux Says:

IF the nagging injuries require shutting either of them down for a month, the Brown signing is worth it.

  2. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

Don’t really like this. From a player standpoint you can’t find anyone better who can play outside or in the slot. You know he’s in shape and ready to roll. But from a character standpoint he’s been pretty much worthless. Honestly I’m not sure he deserves a chance to play this year or the next. We have young players with a mix of strong veterans that can handle situations that can come up with someone like him. With the injuries to Evans and Godwin mixed with the youth of Miller, Watson, and Johnson I can see why. Make him earn it. Dude is explosive. Use him in anyway possible (return game). Wonder how JPP, Suh, David, and Arians really feel about this?

  3. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

    Agree with DaBux.

  4. Clean House Says:

He must feel real welcome with such a warm description from the local press-
Hope he doesn’t read this site.

Hope he has complete blinders from the press in general so he can perform at a high level

  5. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

This is either the reason we win the Super Bowl here in the Den of Depression, or it’s the reason we don’t make the playoffs because we go off the rails. I hope it is the former, and I suspect it will be. Brady will keep this guy a team guy. He clearly staked out his reputation to get him.

  6. Bucfan81 Says:

If I am Arians I call Tom Brady in my office and go we got your guy here. He is your problem now so you better get him to show up and be in check for the rest of the season.

  7. Bucs4821 Says:

I’m inclined to think Arians ran this by Evans, David, JPP, etc.

  8. Buc Bro Says:

Makes sense as Evans doesn’t look right and Godwin doesn’t look much better. Fingers crossed this works out

  9. Rod Munch Says:

You either trust Brady or you don’t.

You have to believe Brady went to Arians after that Chicago game and asked him how the hell he’s supposed to win when you’re starting Scotty Miller and Evans on one leg, and the two can’t even practice that week.

If everyone is healthy, this WR core is insane, Evans, Godwin and Brown, and Miller as a #4 is perfect for him, just like when Hump was behind Evans, Godwin and D-Jax.

    This is a great move…

…and if it isn’t, you do what the Pats did and cut him.

  10. Shoulda_Drafted_QB Says:

It’s about getting to the Super Bowl NOW!!! Bcuz Brady is Old man

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

Personal problems aside, Brown is a hard worker and HOF standard producer on game day.
It’s a civil case against him, not a criminal case.
He’s not asking to date your sister.
Pro sports are filled with all kinds of characters- some of them shady.
Evans and Godwin are not healthy- Bucs are in win now mode.
    It’s a risk, but it’s calculated.

  12. Darin Says:

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea had never had close contact with a psychopath. Hope they dont let him play but if so he wont play 8 games. Zero chance.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Darin – Yeah, OK there kiddo, thanks for letting us know what it takes to win, I’ll pass along your valuable info to Tom Brady.

  14. Buc Bro Says:

Going to Vegas tomorrow wonder if there are any prop bets for how many games he plays in this year

  15. SOEbuc Says:

No way! Ya think? Had to be told to the Brady Bucs national media bandwagon, though. Love how I have never heard the name Ronald Jones in any of all the BSPN national bullspit.

  16. August 1976 Buc Says:

In the immortal words of Herm Edwards – “You Play To WIN THE GAME” lol, Go for the jugular. It has been 17 years since this team has even been relevent. Enough of the LOSING crap. SUPER BOWL OR BUST, GO BUCS!!!!

  17. Pete Says:

I do not like this signing, but,
    Go Bucs!!!

  18. teacherman777 Says:

    Great!

Much better than Mickens, Grayson, Watson, or Scotty Miller.

We now have a better version of Julian Edelman.

    Antonio deserves forgiveness.

    Go Bucs!

  19. hammerhead Says:

    Well, he’s a bag of shyte… I hope he’s making vet minimum.

  20. QUE589 Says:

Ok I get it now. Top 4 receivers are hurt.

  21. gotbbucs Says:

They signed a 40+ year old QB, they’re all in on THIS year, and AB is signed for just this year.

We’ll never see a team like this again, so just sit back and try to enjoy.

  22. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I am onboard with this move. Yes, Evans and Godwin are game changing receivers, but they are hurting. So, we just picked up a for real game changing receiver, plus a defensive tackle to ease some of the pain of losing Vita Vea.
For those who haven’t noticed, we are trying our very best to Win, and Win now.
    Welcome to Tampa Antonio !!!!!!!!!

  23. Bobby Says:

We have a bye coming no up. If we can limit Evans and Godwin and get them healthy after the bye we will be ridiculous. Evans, Godwin, AB and Gronk….seriously???!!!

  24. PSL Bob Says:

I’ll be rooting for the team, but I think this will go down as a terrible move. So what – even if Evans and Godwin are not playing at full strength, the Bucs have other receivers who’ve been playing well. Build a team through the draft! The last thing we need is someone to wreck the chemistry the team has built through the first 6 games. Bad, bad move!

  25. Anonymous Says:

All you “character” freaks…let’s see, Antonio Brown didnt get along with Ben R or Jon Gruden, but IS good friends with Russell Wilson and Tom Brady. He’s nutty but from a teammate standpoint, maybe this is all overblown.

  26. Women of Tampa beware Says:

He will keep the Tampa police department busy that’s for sure.

  27. Pruritus Ani Says:

Anytime the Bucs have signed people with “issues” it never works out well. Hope I am wrong on this one.

  28. TampaTodd76 Says:

This is craziness .But I love the move! Bucs Going all the way!!

  29. orlbucfan Says:

AB pulls any character stunts, there are plenty of locker room leaders like LVD who will put him and Methuselah straight real quick. Ungodly probably hasn’t recovered from that cheap shot concussion either. Time will tell.

  30. Wideleftandright Says:

The minute that dude starts any crap in or out of the locker room ,they need to put his arse on a bus outta town.
The Bucs have spent considerable time building a family like roster to let a me,me,me player ruin it..

  31. Ericb Says:

All the negativity about ab please shutup..ab wants to win superbowl here we come i was soooooo excited hes pn the team hell yeah

  32. Sharon Worden Says:

I can hardly wait, he’s not all that bad Brady bunked him up it’s security nothing wrong with that brady wants that ring and win for for the Buc’s. I love Tompa

  33. Bee Says:

Keep in mind that if the Bucs sign him, then no other team can sign him. You make sure Brown can’t be an asset on another team. This is so worth the risk. He’ll work well with Brady and free up our other WRs. You can do anything with Brown…screen, post, reverse, go, etc. He’s the best. In his prime. Our offense is solid now with Rojo coming on and Fournette coming back.

  34. Carolyn Collins Says:

I’m just glad the Bucs signed him before Pete Carroll could. Locker room wrecker…on field wrecker…off the field wrecker…the DIVA needs counseling☹
