Another Future Hall Of Famer In The House

October 23rd, 2020

“Coach, I’ve been texting Adrian Peterson … and I cleared my schedule for Combine interviews.”

New Buccaneers receiver Antonio Brown has been a menace in the community and has paid all kinds of legal fees, but he’s also a stone cold terror on the football field.

Or at least he was before arrests and a rape suit put him on Roger Goodell’s naughty list.

The seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro once was the best receiver in the game, and he may still be. But at 32 years old with apparent mental health challenges, it’s hard to say how much Brown has left.

But the fun part is Bucs fans get to find out — while we advise our friends in the moving business to keep their eyes open and women across the Bay area to steer clear.

As NFL fans know, Chucky signed Brown to the Raiders last year before that blew up in training camp. Chucky had said multiple times he was mesmerized by how hard Brown practiced in the Steelers. And Brown was known for his extraordinary work ethic and being driven by being a sixth-round pick back in 2010.

On the field, his 841 catches rank 28th in NFL history. He also ranks 35th in touchdowns and fourth in average yards per game.

Soon the Bucs could line up Brown, Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Mike Evans, four guys who might hang out in Canton one day. When’s the last time a team rolled out four future Hall of Famers on offense? And one day LeSean McCoy’s numbers will get him a healthy sniff from Hall of Fame voters.

Joe has written and said many times. Brady didn’t come to Tampa to handoff. If the Bucs can get healthy, they could become the most dangerous five-wide/empty-backfield teams in history.

Don’t let him play here Glazers. U wont lose a fan from the beginning here, but you will lose my game attendance. You wana put a cancer on a first place team? Cmon mannnn. It’s not fun as a Bucs fan to find out. It’s sad. Have some effing respect for the women and children of Tampa and dont sign this clown. I hope he moves in next door to me.

  2. August 1976 Buc Says:

Uncommon Sense is prevailing, you need players that can suit up. The walking mash Unit WR room just got awesome help. If Mr 6 rings wants him fine. SUPER BOWL OR BUST. GO BUCS!!!!

  3. BA > Licht Says:

Brown will be the next guy in IR has not played football in a year….. will blow a hammy or something just like Dez …. stupid signing

  4. ArmchairGM Says:

This is a huge boom or bust gamble. Think you’re going to see Evans shut down for a month starting week 9. My guess is he has a high ankle sprain that isn’t getting better, but he can play. Hoping this doesn’t blow up in the Bucs’ face and AB can avoid running himself out of town for at least a month.

  5. Tbbucs3 Says:

This was a football decision….the Bucs are a football team….not a charity organization. If you have an opportunity to sign a top 5 WR after he’s stayed off social media for a significant period of time and appears to have made progress then you do it.

Someone was gonna sign him eventually, why not us?

  6. 123urout Says:

Cool ! just in time for the Saimts game… GO BUCS !!!

  7. Rod Munch Says:

All these losers scared of success, it’s embarrassing.

  8. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

I think you’re wrong on the last point Joe. Brady came here to win, even if it means he hands off 30x straight.
Our D is ballin, and we have 2 legit RB1 thoroughbreds in the backfield. 170 yards and 2 td on the ground and 230 and 2td passing will get it done the rest of the year. Our identity was born vs Rogers and the Cheeseheads.

  9. August 1976 Buc Says:

Going to be a fun Sunday night game, Bucs and Saints. ‘Hey Drew, yeah Sean. Grab the bottle of Scotch, we just lost control of the NFC South, dem Bad Bucs is here now. GO BUCS!!!!!

  10. 123urout Says:

I believe AB will keep himself discipline for a year. It’s been his dream playing beside Tom “THE GOAT” Brady…

  11. Swampbuc Says:

Unless this had the overwhelming endorsement of Evans and Godwin, it’s a Dominik move. Utterly unnecessary and far to risky – this clown is a full fledged certifiable nutbag.

  12. Bucked up Says:

Possibly another jersey # controversy! Don’t do it Brate, your signed long term and it’s a disservice to fans that own your jersey! Curious to see the number selection and jersey sales for the first couple weeks, then sales after a couple games if AB has success

  13. Buc Bro Says:

    Evans, hurt
    Godwin, hurt
    Miller, hurt & tiny
    Watson, not a reliable target
    Grayson, not a NFL receiver
Johnson, rookie and unproven but promising
    OJ Howard, hurt
Gronk, not what he used to be
Brate, reliable but can be erased by a good defender

Adding Brown makes sense, let’s just hope Brady can keep him in check

  14. King C Says:

Surprised Brown picked Tampa over Seattle and Baltimore.
I will say he’s a better third option than currently on the roster

  15. teacherman777 Says:

“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those tgat trespass sgaibst us.”

    Go Bucs!

    Great signing!!

  16. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

The Upside to this is incredible!
Imagine we put Antonio Brown, Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Mike Evans + Chris Godwin in a game ?
Antonio Hates Chucky, who signed and then cut him.
Too bad there will not be time for him to learn our playbook by Sunday, when we play the Raiders.

  17. Lamarcus Says:

The Bucs just can’t get out of their own way. 2 left footed team. Finally when things go right then this…….smh

  18. Bucsgotachance..todonothing Says:

I been saying it on all the post everyday..now i will say i told you all so and im always right..i was right about all are moves brady Fournette mccoy didnt see gronk move..n now ab.. I just know we are all in and i love it..thank you brady thanks to are gm and thanks to are coach fir changing his mind. Everyome deserves another chance

  19. SOEbuc Says:

Long list of terrible acts by NFL players. What would be said if we signed Tyrik Hill or Kareem Hunt or Michael Irvan. Personal problems aside, I think this is friggin sweet. It’s hard to tell if guys are steadily getting better or worse. GOAT laid down the one year deal on him and seems happily AB says yes. Bucs healthy wide receivers??? That’s down right scary being so close to Halloween.

  20. BUC CHEEKS Says:

I’m ecstatic about this! He’d be the dumbest mofo on planet earth to F this up! This is virtually his last chance… VIRTUALLY!!! We’re going all in!!! F the naysayers! Let’s see what happens, 100% worth kicking the tires on AB. Stoked in Sarasota

  21. PSL Bob Says:

I understand why so many fans think this is a smart move. But, my gut’s in a knot. I’d rather see us play with what we’ve already got, banged up and all, than to bring this a-hole into the locker room. So what happens when Evans and Godwin are back to full strength. A lot of testosterone, but just not enough balls to go around.

  22. Bucsgotachance..todonothing Says:

Well said cheeks your echoing what i saud..brady happy im happy

  23. ModHairKen Says:

Antonio Brown will NEVER be in the HOF.

    Never.

  24. Wesley Says:

I don’t want this scum on my team!!

  25. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Dude is clearly nuts, three weeks max before there’s a situation.

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The Bucs are like a box of chocolates…..

    But isn’t it exciting?

  27. T.J. Grove Says:

If TB12 can keep him in check and he actually acts like a human being then sure it’s a great signing. Could he that Godwin and Evans are hurting more than we can tell or the Bucs may be leading on. Hey man. We went all in for a shot at this ring. Keep AB all by himself up in pasco or hernando county somewhere and fly him in for practice and games. No interaction with non football normal human beings. There is no denying what he’s done in the field in the past. Prove your still the real deal AB and just stick to football.

  28. View from 132 Says:

Not fun to talk about, but reading the stories of AB… does he have an actual mental health condition? Bi-polar, for example? Or he just a jerk?

  29. Clean House Says:

If you combine enough great players that are either injured of a shell of their former selves on the same team playing decent, you can be above average, which is all we need if the Defense can play well rest of the year.

Its what we got so lets roll with it…. Wish Jameis or Fitz was our backup right now, and since were all in, we might as well trade Donovan smith and a 1st and 2nd rounder for a really solid left tackle if possible

We are now full on fantasy!
    Go licht

This is so fun to watch

  30. Clean House Says:

When you really suck for over a decade, you’ve got nothing to lose- its entertainment- These clowns arent building a 20 year dynasty, might as well forget that

  31. SamuraiBuc Says:

@Darin Hey, I’ll take your ticket.

  32. August 1976 Buc Says:

Clean House -“This is so fun to watch” Right on, so many years of losing, playing crappy football. Some have forgotten this is a game, also played for entertainment. LOSING FOOTBALL is not entertaining. There has been a few good patches in the 44 years of watching this team play. But overall LOSING and Buccaneers has been way to synonymous. SUPER BOWL OR BUST!! GO BUCS!!!!

  33. Defense Rules Says:

“Brady didn’t come to Tampa to handoff. If the Bucs can get healthy, they could become the most dangerous five-wide/empty-backfield teams in history.”

Tom Brady is all about WINNING. He’s about doing what it takes to WIN. He had seasons where the Pats rushed on almost 50% of their plays, and their average was always between 40-45%. Plus Brady was always big on integrating his RBs into the passing game.

So please, let’s not have any of this “five-wide/empty backfield” horsepuckey. Bucs have seemingly developed a decent BALANCED attack for the 1st time in years; an attack that can control the game & drive defenses nuts.

BA has been real slow to learn that ‘Bombs Away’ has its’ limitations against today’s defenses. And oh ya, it’d have a much better chance of getting Brady injured; then you could really kiss the season goodbye. With RoJo, Fournette and yes Vaughn running behind a kick-dirt-in-your-face OLine, Bucs have developed a very potent ground attack that meshes very well with Brady’s primarily short passing game. “Five-wide/empty-backfield” sets are a step backwards not forwards.

  34. Onetrickpony Says:

Sold their soul to the devil for this ?

  35. D1 Says:

“These clowns arent building a 20 year dynasty, might as well forget that”

Is that what they’ve been doing the last 15 years, trying to build a dynasty! Who knew!

You think signing Brady, Gronk and a couple other players for 1yr is disrupting some grandiose long term plan! A plan that guarantees 20 years worth of total league domination. I think youre on drugs .

  36. Hodad Says:

Joe, you have more of a chance making the HOF then AB does. You’re getting a little carried away.

  37. m0j0 Says:

Well, they can’t say that the Bucs weren’t all in to win it this season.

  38. Bee Says:

We don’t have the QB to build a 20 year dynasty and I don’t see a QB in the draft that looks good enough to do that. We are winning now, that’s all that matters.

Thats what’s wrong with some fans. Worrying about winning future seasons instead of winning in the current season.

Yes, this team must plan for the future but you must also strike while the iron is hot. Take advantage of your window right now!

This team has sucked for too long. Let’s enjoy the wins while they’re happening.
