Evans Didn’t Look Peeved To Joe

October 25th, 2020

Wants to win

When Mike Evans, one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and the best in Bucs history, went into the second half without a catch, fans on social media were angry the Bucs were not targeting him.

It seems people were confusing him with the skunk the Bucs just signed this weekend.

Evans wants to win. He’s said that. He’s tired of losing and if that means he doesn’t catch many passes, so be it. He prefers wins.

So when Tyler Johnson, a rookie, caught a bullet from park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Bucs quarterback Tom Brady for his second touchdown pass as a pro, who was the first guy there to celebrate with Johnson and slap skin with him like the Bucs just won the game?

Mike Evans, that’s who.

Evans is a pro’s pro. Don’t worry about Evans sulking. Or Evans stewing, or Evans freaking out and punching Bucs AC/DC-loving Jason Licht or melting down so bad the Bucs have to release him.

People are confusing Evans with a louse that constantly throws juvenile temper tantrums if he doesn’t get his way.

Evans is a class act, unlike the problem child the Bucs will soon welcome into the locker room.

Did you miss him kicking things on the sideline?

  2. Joe Says:

Did you miss him kicking things on the sideline?

Yup. Joe’s more concerned with what happens on the field.

Joe once saw Evans score a touchdown at Atlanta when he was a young receiver and the Pro Bowl veteran walked off the field pouting while his teammates celebrated with Evans.

  3. Pete Says:

Proud that Mike Evans is on my home town team!
    Go Bucs!!!

  4. Steven007 Says:

Nothing passive aggressive about this article, haha.

  5. DaBux Says:

    Chicks dig scars.

    They dig rings more.

    Mike wants immortality.

Evans will FEAST on the Giants next week.

  6. Bird Says:

    18tds and 4 ints
    Almost 5 to 1

    Seminoles in hiding
    Lamarcus wanted more picks

    Go away trolls
    And dumb guys

  7. EA Says:

Mike evans is being double covered a lot and Tom Brady will not force the Ball to double coverage like J-Dubb did.
Bringing in Antonio brown is gonna help M1k3 draw more single coverages which translates to more catches and another 1000 yard season for Mike.

  8. mark2001 Says:

Joe…Brown is an insurance policy. If he acts up, he is gone. I believe he has seemed to be the skunk you label him to be. What I don’t get it how far you seemed to cut Jameis slack for all his transgressions off the field. Because that is what you are really talking about primarily… character.

  9. Steven007 Says:

EA, interesting and astute observation. If AB can keep his head together that may well be the reason Evans gets a thousand yards if he does.

  10. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

Joe, tell us how you really feel…

  11. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I think Evans is fully aware of being on the cusp of a HOF career. I’m also sure he’s aware that the gold jacket is much easier to come by with a SB ring. I think Evans will benefit the most from ABs presence. This offense is about to put up numbers like Brady did with Moss.

  12. All lives matter Says:

Mike Evans could be the leading receiver next game. It all depends on coverage. Unlike Winston who would force balls, Brady looks for mismatches. Evans may be left in man next week and be the hero.

  13. Gencoimports Says:

I would hope the problem child Joe is referring to would realize how stacked the Bucs offense is without him and he needs to be humble.

  14. Defense Rules Says:

Only one football, and the Bucs have LOTS of play-makers. Several times I’d see Mike drawing double-coverage, and that often leaves someone else relatively open. Brady isn’t a high-risk QB like someone else we all remember. He’s a master at going with the high percentage situation.

Same thing’s happening to Shaq IMO. If offenses want to double-team him, then fine … make them pay. And Todd Bowles is doing exactly that by blitzing LBs as often as he has. The results speak for themselves.

  15. Of course Says:

Where’s that dude that SITS DOWN TO PEEEEEE AT?

    Ndoggie

  16. JimmyJack Says:

Fans were angry? You just got something wrong with you if anger is an emotion you were feeling watching that game.

  17. DBS Says:

Evans got upset when he knew he had a TD easy catch but he was interfered with. You could tell that. But at least he got the flag.

  18. Frankinthe813 Says:

    Greates Bucs receiver…EVER

  19. Giovanni Says:

I still want him to get his 1000 yards and make history

  20. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Evans CLEARLY is not 100% healthy

    Godwin isn’t either

Imagine if both of them are this year?????? OMG

  21. crazybucs_CL Says:

—–“Evans is a class act, unlike the problem child the Bucs will soon welcome into the locker room”——–
yes ME is great, but he is HURT, thats why they are force to bring AB here….Godwin too…..

  22. D-Rome Says:

To think there were people that preferred the former QB over Tom Brady. How foolish do they look today?

  23. TheBucsAnthem Says:

no way evans gets 1000 this year

Brady just has too many options now

  24. Dbbuc711 Says:

The one stat that jumped at me was Godwin.
    9 targets 9 catches.
    That’s crazy good.

  25. JasonH Says:

    True dat Frankin !

  26. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

    DBS nailed it.

  27. Pete I Says:

Evansl looked just like he always looks…annoyed and serious with a few smiles thrown in.

  28. Tampabaybucfan Says:

What I don’t understand is the monikers for Brady, Gronk & AB……compared to Jameis…..
What I can determine is that Joe labels Free Agents & somewhat lays off Buc draft picks…..
Simply don’t understand the negatives……yea, yea, yea,,,,I know, it’s what Joe likes and it’s Joe’s sight…..I’m just curious about the thinking or maybe there is no thinking at all….

As for AB….I think he’s had enough time to realize, he really is insurance…..not needed…..just an extra piece….He will be gone faster than Joe gets rid of his chili on Sunday mornings.

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Joes site….not sight….

  30. tickrdr Says:

BUT, but, but EVERYONE throws lots of INTs in their first year in Arians’ offense.

    tickrdr

    BTW: 18 TDS/4 INTs = 4.5 TD/INT Ratio. Will update TD%age and INT%age this week.

  31. Wesley Says:

    #cutbrown

  32. ©MadMax Says:

Dang straight Joe! Evans is turning into a GOAT….going into the HOF as a GOAT! Team first and a Leader…all about the team and winning…thats how you win it all baby!

  33. BucEmUp Says:

Glad they have been improving on the playcalling and taking advantage of some underneath routes keeping the defense honest and opening up the deep shots.

Evans.isnt a diva….none of them are. Well except for the new guy. Could you imagine of Desean Jackson were here?!!!!! Hed throw a temper tantrum. All I know is Antonio Brown better not take over for Godwin or Evans….he is the number 3 wr and needs to act like it.

  34. Coburn Says:

Pretty sure I sure Evans celebrating on basically every TD catch made today

  35. tickrdr Says:

BTW2: It looked to me that the person celebrating the Tyler Johnson TD the most was ME13. Did I not see that correctly?

    tickrdr

  36. Greg Says:

    @bucs anthem

You are right on as the usual studs are not 100% and TB is clicking with those that give the team the best chance to win. It is still early and their time will come!

  37. Joe Says:

So just do us all a favor and shut up about it already.

You have no clue what you are talking about or you don’t know what a hypocrite is. Joe never, ever lobbied for Antonio Brown this offseason.

A few years ago when he was being shopped by the Steelers and before he melted down mentally, yeah, Joe was open to the Bucs getting him. A lot has changed since.

If you want to stick your head in the sand and believe this Brown is a total angel, knock yourself out. Does this team look like it needs a cancer like Brown?

How’d it work out bringing in two cancers like DeSean Jackson and Swaggy Baker? Boy, that sure worked out swell.

  38. ElioT Says:

Big Mike is injured and is out there gutting it out like the BEAST that he is.

He’s obviously frustrated that he’s not 100% because when he is… watch out!!!

He’s a true pro who wants to win and wants to dominate.

    Go Bucs!!!

  39. ElioT Says:

AB is a risky insurance policy in the event that we have any more injuries to the WR/TE corps.

He can’t even practice till after next week.

There is no way they’ll allow any bulls*** from him with the chemistry this team is building.

  40. Sport Says:

TBBF – it’s a mental issue with this Joe. He has to tear down people to make himself feel better. He also takes a contrarian position to create controversy. These traits run so deep 1) he will never change 2) he still believes Manziel is a good quarterback and wants him on the team.

Just point 2 alone says all you need to know about this Joe – he idolizes a washed out king size D-bag.

It’s not worth your brain cells to even ask.

    In BA I Trust!

  41. Tampabuscsbro Says:

To be fair Admin there was a different administration when we had those two team cancers.

    Dirk was absolutely spineless.

  42. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Lol you are so blind it’s funny sometimes man!! You think a player of Evans calibur doesn’t care about being the ONLY one to EVER get 7 years of a thousand yards to start his career?? He may not say anything because he’s got a lot of class!! But you’re crazy if you think he doesn’t care!! Again you don’t understand the game! You are a good fan and a I do like to get as much bucs info as possible… But you have OBVIOUSLY never played or never competed in a high level!! These dudes in the end will be judged by their stats!! Like it or not that’s the way it is!! … Yes Brady will be remembered for his rings but that’s Brady!! … Evans wants to be a part of this success you can’t bet your house on that!! And I don’t blame him!! They need to get him the ball more!! It looks to me Brady has stopped even looking his way!!! After he kicked the bench is when they FINALLY passed it to him and he caught it for big gains!! I don’t know what the problem is with them but there’s something going on… Maybe Brady doesn’t want Evans beating his buddy Moss record!!??? Lol

  43. Rod Munch Says:

Watching the game today and focused on Evans as much as I could from the TV view, and Bruce isn’t lying, they were double teaming him all day. Brady is just throwing it, mainly, to the open guy – so if they’re going to double Evans, then the ball is going everywhere else as there isn’t any reason to force the ball.

I think going forward teams aren’t going to focus on Evans, and frankly I don’t see how they could focus on Evans with Godwin, Gronk and Brown out there — plus Miller, when playing against depth guys has proven he can get open (just not against starters, just like Humphries).

  44. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I could be wrong but didn’t Joe lobby for Greg Hardy?………oh, that’s right, he rushes the passer.

  45. adam from ny Says:

look at the tape of mike running his routes…

he looks like crap out there…

he must be injured and is ok with being used as a decoy to grab the double teams – so others can make plays…

    something is definitely up…

evans is like barely even part of the offense now…

and with the arrival of AB, sheet could get even weirder

    #IsMikeBeingPhasedOutByBrady

  46. AwShbucs Says:

You absolutely have Jameis a free pass Joe. Whether you want to admit it or not. Also comparing AB to the DeSean Jackson and Swaggy Baker debacle is irrelevant.

Dirk Koetter was the weak willed loser that let those 2 fools, specifically Jackson, walk all over the team and not do anything about it.

This is an entirely different regime. AB will be on short leash. And Tom Brady, the ultimate team leader and winner, wanted him as a team mate.

Like it or not, Brady’s opinion matters a whole lot more than yours.

  47. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady had 369 yards & 4TDs to 9 different receivers today…….do you think Gruden is happy with his Evans double teams?

  48. Rod Munch Says:

Tampabaybucfan – From what I could tell, on the plays where I could see what was happening, the corner on Evans had safety help quite a bit. That’s the nightmare matchup issue the Bucs give you. Do you try to double Godwin, who is playing in the slot? No, you count on your LBs to get in the way of routes. You certainly aren’t doubling Miller, and he’s shown if he’s not playing against starting caliber corners he can get open one on one. But even in that case you still have Gronk who, if left one on one, is going to catch the ball. To think we’re adding Brown to this mix, wow, the defenses are going to have to just sit back and play zone and hope a 4-man rush to gets to Brady. Oh, and as teams sit back in zone, that also opens up the running game… This offense is a nightmare to match up against if the WRs are healthy.

  49. 813bucboi Says:

    Rod

This offense is a nightmare as long as BL is calling plays….

    GO BUCS

  50. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Munch, this offense was a true nightmare when Jay Miss was QB! Incredible what a difference a bunch of interceptions makes every game, isn’t it!

  51. Of course Says:

ROD MUNCH and NDONGY hold hands

  52. Eric Says:

He was obviously pissed and it’s just a matter of time before he let it out because he is not being used by the offense of genius lol

  53. Rod Munch Says:

Alvin Scissors – Why are you talking about Winston? Another WDS dope… Sad 🙁

  54. TuffBuc Says:

Not sure why all the AB hate from Joe.

  55. Jmarkbuc Says:

ME’s routes aren’t and never have been all that great… Five years of playing sandlot ball with JW may have harmed him.

Like JW he could run around and get lots of yards…but it ain’t all about yards. I think ME is an awesome talent, but he uses it like a crutch, where Brady is looking for precision…that and of he’s doubled Brady’s not gonna throw at him…

  56. Joe Says:

Not sure why all the AB hate from Joe.

If you don’t know, you’ll never understand … or never want to understand. smh

  57. Rod Munch Says:

Jmarkbuc – Evans has been playing on one leg all season, his hamstring killed him early, then he’s starting to get healthy and he has his ankle bent like a pretzel in the SD game. Additionally Arians is not lying when he says teams are double teaming him. The idiot idea that Brady secretly hates Evans for some reason is really stupid, it’s just a health and matchup issue – if he doesn’t need to force the ball to the guy being doubled then he’s not going to.

  58. Nate Says:

He was double teamed on that play by the free safety…Evans knowsyou forceir into we are erasing a high percentage touch down.

  59. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Rod

I am aware of all that. He’s still not a technician.
