Can Brady Overcome Penalties?

October 11th, 2020

Team forcing uphill climb.

One habit has haunted the Bucs through the Lost Decade that continues today.

That would be penalties. The Bucs currently lead the NFL in penalties. Take a wild guess which team has the fewest penalties? The New England Belicheats.

As we know Thursday night the Bucs had 11 penalties for 109 yards (the Bears are second in the NFL in penalties yet only had six Thursday night. Hhhmmmm?). The Bucs may have been one or potentially two penalties too many to overcome.

The reason Joe brings this up is consistently through the Lost Decade when the Bucs collected flags as if they were aluminum cans for recycling cash, the Belicheats were steadily in the bottom third in the NFL in penalties.

Only one year did the Belicheats have a boatload of penalties and that was in 2014. Quarterbacked by park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting Tom Brady, the Patriots were tied for fourth-most penalties in the NFL.

New England also won the Super Bowl that year.

So Joe wonders if Brady, far more used to leading a disciplined, can overcome all of these penalties as a middle-aged man of 43 with a slipping memory and guide an undisciplined team to the playoffs?

    wow. “down forgetting?”

    this is a toxic article.

    shame on you guys.

  3. Ndog Says:

    WHAT DOWN IS IT??????

  4. Defense Rules Says:

I agree with teacherman777 … It’s not like Ndog needs any reinforcement Joe. Bucs’ penalties had nothing to do with Brady. It’s a lack of discipline on the part of each player who committed those penalties. And it’s a reflection on COACHING, as in BAD COACHING.

  5. All lives matter Says:

This must be from the red headed hater

  6. Sport Says:

Joe is clearly someone who must tear others down to provide a sense of self worth. It’s a prerequisite to be a ‘journalist’ these days. Just reporting the facts is too boring and doesn’t generate clicks or ‘eye time’ on a site.

Being a shill is this Joe’s forte.

We lost by one point playing sloppy and against the refs. Thursday night football accelerates injuries and Brady didn’t throw a single pass to these 3rd stringers in preparation. Walk thru’s only.

I’m more concerned about the lack of defense in the mid range area of the field. There have been guys wide open and no gang tackling!

    In BA I Trust!

  7. #1bucfan Says:

NDOG your boy Winston leads the league in turnovers and still hasn’t played a down of football yet. Jokes on you buddy

  8. Ndog Says:

I think it’s hilarious the same people that used to love these articles when they were about Jameis are pissed now when they are about Brady.

    Freaking hypocrisy!!

  9. Youngbucs Says:

Which penalties are real penalties I don’t watch football to see refs decide the outcomes.

  10. SteveK Says:

    Ndog,

Lol- thanks for the laughs, every day, in every possible way, the biased trolling you deliver is next level. Bravo, sir!

    Thank you,

    Buc Fan

  11. Pewter Power Says:

Nope maybe 10 years ago. Can’t be that undisciplined and except to be competitive.

  12. bojim Says:

It will be hard. Mad defense coming at you and a mad QB screaming at you.

  13. Architek Says:

Just ignore that clown please – you give him a platform for stupid points.

And yes the Bucs are and will be limited this season if they continue stupid penalties.

  14. unbelievable Says:

    “Down-forgetting” lololol

  15. El Buco Realisto Says:

Glad to see joe and the sheep finally “realize” some of the major problems!!!!!!!! Of course they could have known months ago!!!!!!!!! And that brings up the much requested and always popular, “Realist Repost”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is wrong to think the Brady alone is why the Patriots are a well coached well disciplined team!!!!!!!!!! The bucs are a sloppy coach team, with the most penalized team in the NFL!!!!!!!!! This season will expose the bad gm, and average coaches from the Bucs!!!!!!!! If Brady can drag ole stale biscuit to a wildcard playoff game, it should be the greatest feat in Brady’s career!!!!!!!!!!! And that includes those 6 superbowls!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the “no excuse” season of all “no excuse” seasons!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Craig Says:

Brady can’t win against penalties if his defense can’t stop anyone.

The defense took a big step backwards against the Bears. I would say it is the coaches who are causing it. Good coaching can make up for a lot of weak players, good players cannot make up for bad coaching.

We have a bunch of bump and run corners that have been called on to play soft. Teach them to play zone instead, then switch around and screw up the opposing QB. Don’t go back to a Mike Smith defense.

  17. Bird Says:

The most hypocratic poster on here is talking about hypocrisy

    I love it
Ndog. Please keep them coming. It s funny that you dont see what a creeper you look like

You did just say oline fixed ( holding penalites caused jameis to lose)and defense way better cause guys are In extra year in system Another reason bucs winning now.

Looks like same bucs to me.
A Few players here and there. Talk about defense …barrett and jpp were sacking guys last year so take away the defense argument

How bout the secondary. Looks like teams Throwing all over us again So thats bunk

Some new starters on offense. Still being penalized a record rate So the holding / penalites argument bunk. And now vea done for year

So it does come to a qb Who has never played here Or in this system

    Vs

A guy who got to work in the same system with same players For a few years. Here a total of 5 years.

    I’ll take brady
You already taken jameis . And by taken i mean from behind

    Lets see who wins

  18. 40TDs Says:

    Come on guys!!!!!!!!

Joe is running a business here. He not going to be a fan when he writes the blog. He aims to satisfied everyone. Unfortunately, our Bucs made it to easy for Joe to feed the puppy in a Realistic way. Lol

Brady and company will bring the wood next Sunday. I will repost a week from tomorrow.

    Go Bucs!!!

  19. Juicesters Says:

Yeah Bucs got to play better. This was one of my concerns of getting Brady is that I dont think he can carry this team when it shoots itself in the foot.

  20. webster Says:

    I posted this yesterday.

took an even further collapse without kwon? The win total is not sorely on the qb. One of my best friends is from boston. He is a huge pats fan. He has lived in florida for about 15 years and has only watched the bucs sparingly. Now that brady is here, he watches them all the time. He has said to me numerous times in five games, we are a DUMB and undiscipline football team. He said the Pats never played like we do around Brady. He was suprised at some of our decision making. He told me he finally understood what i was saying for years. This team has more problems than the qb. While he is pulling for brady and the bucs, he said he is not so sure because as he said, he has seen it before and how we are playing aint it. Its been that way for years. He like many others nationally just didnt realize it. Blame jameis.

And for all those saying the refs made bad calls on thursday night, just stop it!!!! You act as if the bucs were not a product of poor calls the past 5 years when it was supposedly all the qb’s fault. News flash, this team led the league in penalties last year and has been consistently near the top as one of the most penalized teams year in year out. Stop acting like thursday is some type of exception. They had a high amount of penalties against carolina, denver and san diego but those teams were just not better than the bucs at least at that time. You will not beat the packers, chiefs, etc with all those penalties and undisciplined play. But lets do like we did the past 5 years and blame the qb.

  21. Wesley Says:

Can’t always over come incompetent officiating.

  22. DBS Says:

We lose a game and Webster now comes back crawling from behind the baseboards.

  23. Bill M Says:

Can’t blame this loss on the officials. Bears just plain whopped ass. BEARS QB and that big dude running back stood out. Only Bucs player who looked good to me on offense was Rojo.. Our defense played well enough to win. Our kicker hit all his kicks! Big improving over last year. But the offense sucked. Brady included.. We mostly likely lose next week to the Packers. 3/3 is not a dominating team headed for the playoffs. If the offense doesn’t get there sheet together soon no biscuit.

  24. Mirrormirroronthewall Says:

I am just going to enjoy watching the Bucs fail now that I know what Bill Belichick knew which is Brady cannot count to four.

  25. lambeau Says:

Brady did not play well at the end–why don’t people think he was concussed? He wouldn’t volunteer it. But he threw to the wrong people.

  26. webster Says:

    @dbs

Ive posted when the bucs have not lost but way to go trying to make it seem like i just post after losses. Your jedi mind tricks does not work here. Just say webster posted something i did not like eventhough its true so therefore i am angry at him. That would sum it up correctly.
