Mike Evans’ Strong Day

September 13th, 2020

Mike Evans had two yards receiving today but his coach and his quarterback had his back quickly and strongly.

Forgetting for a moment that Marshon Lattimore seems to rent a room in Evans’ head, Evans draw a couple of big pass interference penalties that Tom Brady and Bucco Bruce Arians referenced after the game. Each said those are as good as catches and, therefore, Evans got the job done.

Joe would counter and say that if he was playing well, then why only four official targets in his direction.

Of course, Joe understands that being a beast of a No. 1 receiver drawing flags down field is an important part of the game. But Evans was off today and Joe thinks it’s just fine to expect the Bucs to get more out of Evans.

    nice joke joe

  3. Youngbucs Says:

He did more than Michael Thomas.

  4. Brandon Says:

As of Friday, he wasn’t supposed to play. I’d sat we got plenty out of him. Now we need to gst more out of Donovan Smith.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Hey….let’s be fair here……Michael only had 3 catches for 17 yards……I thought he was supposed to be the best……

    Scotty had 5 for 73 yards….so there….

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Michael Thomas….

  7. the_end Says:

Not sure how to respond to this…………..but I know we lost today in an embarrassing fashion. And our so called HOF QB looked totally lost. Then there is that POS LT…………..just saying

  8. JimmyJack Says:

Mike didnt do anything today. Zero catches(excluding garbage time). Maybe he ain’t that good

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    I don’t think ME13 was 100% today

  10. TheBradyBunch Says:

Or Jimmy maybe JW had a lot to do with his success. Jameis got a number of receivers paid. At least the Bucs were fun to watch last year with an explosive offense. The Patriots are a very well run organization and they let their most prolific player walk and the worst run organization in the league jumped at the chance to get him. Common sense suggests that the Patriots, as usual, made the right move and the Bucs, as usual, made the wrong move.

Give Mike a break. He has a sore hamstring. Lattimore is always tough. It’s one game Brady’s first game. Give him 3 games before you jump off the cliff. Aikman said it at the end. He expects these 2 teams in the nfc championship game.

Agree…looks like the perpetual hammy. He seemed to be favoring it slightly to me after the TD.

But hammy or not…NO does seem to get in ME13’s head.

  13. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Look, I’m not a big Evans fan. Stats aside, he just comes up short too often for me. That said, Lattimore’s the one who punked out today in their after-play matchup, not Evans.

  14. mickman Says:

Evans blew the game. He needs to understand it is not just about him and Lattimore. He let him get in his head and began to fight causing the team to lose focus on the team goal. next you said procedural penalties and other players getting chippy thinking it is okay to do. The moment Evans was involved in the fight Ariens should have sent him to the locker room for the rest of the half. I think there was 4-7 minutes left. I hope brady smoked him in the locker room and told him stay focused on the damn win and not the personal crap. this is exactly why the bucs lose and the pats win, it is not personal, it isn’t all about getting a win.

  15. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Mike Evans stat line today.

    1 catch
1 helmet punch on Marshawn Lattimore.

  16. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Evans always has a few games per season where he disappears or drops passes. He’s good but not clutch, kinda like GMC. Saints own him and know how to intimidate him. Donovan Smith, on the other hand is consistently bad.

  17. Coburn Says:

Eh I feel like he should have sat. He didn’t look right today and with Miller playing well and all of our tight ends think it would have been better to sit him and let him heal up

  18. Pryda...sec147 Says:

Um I think he lives in Lattimore head more smh

  19. Todd Says:

Question. When a receiver draws a penalty, do those yards go towards the receiver’s stats?

  20. lambchop Says:

    @Pryda,

Bro, Lattimore mostly phases out Evans from games, I really don’t understand your post. Makes no sense. While Lattimore does his job, Mike struggles.

    NO….

  22. Bosch Says:

All things considered, Evans was an asset and not a lability. Bucs loss is due to lack of preseason hurts Bucs worse than saints, d smith stunk, special teams are beyond poor, and Arians out coached by Payton. The

  23. SOEbuc Says:

Michael Thomas got straight up shut down. 3 rec for 17 yards.

  24. SOEbuc Says:

Todd…No. that’s why it’s BS to spot it at the penalty. So many sh!try refs out there that call BS PI that puts the Saints within the ten yard line. Should be 15 yards from the line of scrimmage.

  25. firethecannons Says:

ME13 was not happy as he was interfered with consistently. The Saints are a tough first draw for the Bucs. Cannot expect instant chemistry especially playing against the saints in your first game together. Impressed with scotty miller and chris godwin. May be a few games till the Bucs can pull it together.

  26. adam from ny Says:

mike has a couple games a year where he sorta forgets to get on the team plane…

leaving him basically off the stat sheet…

this has happened before against new orleans too if i’m correct…

he and lattimore are prolly gonna have to shoot the fair one at some point…maybe in the tunnel before a game…

i heard whispers that lattimore and jamies fought the fair one upon jameis’ arrival…

followed by a handshake and an azz pat 🙂

  27. Jason Says:

Twice after plays I saw him rubbing his left hammy. He probably should not have played.

  28. jb Says:

If it hadn’t been Brady throwing the ball we probably wouldn’t have gotten either of those calls.

  29. Buccfan37 Says:

Evans not 100% for sure, but tend to agree with one of the JBF podcasts where it was said Evans likely won’t extend his 1000 yards receiving streak this season.

  30. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

I told you Scotty could play and it was just Winston who couldn’t throw it accurately enough to him!! He was too small a Target for Winston…. He needs 8 foot tall receivers that bring step ladder to the games!!

  31. Cajun 69 Says:

Ok every one just take a chill pill we had a few miss haps a little unsure play a few bad calls buy reefs but remember a new QB a new system an injured star. Plus playing the best team in the division I would say we did OK considering all the facts you guys need to try suporting our team man I am from Mass and I know who our QB is been a fan. His whole. Career and I know this you all who think because of a slow start against the best team is going to stop Brady Or Gronk your selling the whole team short trust me Brady will come out fightingwe have saints again at home I think it’s week 8 I’m betting we win that game i know once we get rolling it is going to be Bad Ass!! So don’t decide the whole season just yet folks I plan on a Superbowl this year or next dont ever ever cou t out your new QB Tommy will make you at you words lol
