Bruce Arians = Interceptions

September 16th, 2020

Strange year for Tom Brady.

Last year the Bucs had a reserve linebacker by the name of Sam Acho. He spent time with Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians in Arizona as well.

Acho, a nine-year veteran, is currently out of football. So why is Joe bringing up his name?

Well, Acho’s brother Emmanuel Acho currently co-hosts “Speak for Yourself,” seen and heard weekdays on FS1. And he was talking Bucs yesterday.

Specifically, Acho was talking the Bucs offense. And you just know Acho was getting excellent intel about Arians’ offense for his brother faced it daily in practice for years. Emmanuel Acho told Bucs fans they should get comfortable with park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady throwing picks.

Why is that?

Acho said you can sum up Arians’ offense with one word. “Interceptions.” He rattled off five quarterbacks who played for Arians, all former No. 1 overall draft picks, who set career highs in interceptions all while being coached by Arians.

And Acho fully expects Brady to join that list. Sunday’s game, Acho said, with Brady throwing two picks against the slimy Saints, was just a taste of what Bucs fans can expect.

You can see and hear Acho’s full take in the FS1 video below.

agreed, but there was quite a bit of sloppiness on sunday. hopefully that gets corrected against carolina

  2. 813bucboi Says:

the offense can take time to gel as long as they’re not creating penalties and turning the ball over…..defense will keep us in games until the offense figures it out….

i predicted SMB would get the first INT of the year vs the saints….he made a nice play but it didnt count….

SMB will get the first INT of the year sunday and we’ll look alot better on offense….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  3. adam from ny Says:

if sir thomas brady throws less than 10 ints we go 12-4…

if sir thomas brady throws 10-15 ints we go 11-5…

if sir thomas brady throws 16-20 ints we go 9-7 or 10-6…

    if he throws 21-25 picks…7-9 or 8-8…

    if he throws 25-30 picks…5-11 or 6-10…

if he throws more than 30, he will be backing up jameis winston somewhere next season…

thus he will be the back up to the back up to the back up…

    if that makes any sense…

also jameis will be dating his wife at that point too…

tom will have officially been tampa bayed…or tampa filleted

Bucs -8.5 against the Panthers this Sunday. Hope Vegas is right.

Interesting stat. It would be great to have Joe ask BA or BL about the stat and what they are looking to do so Brady doesn’t become the next name on that list

  6. Ron says Says:

The game was definitely poor game planning as we ran a very 2 dimensional offense and defense and were shown to be off balance as the saints continually shifted the field and got leverage on our defense. We have very talented but player with great speed which was able to off set the domination but to not plan and prepare for this kind of attack is on the coaching. We also made the same mistake on offense as we ran a very vertical attack which made our passing susceptible to cutting lanes for the defense, which allowed the pick six as he was able to see that Brady had no other options in that area and was able to break early. Hopefully the coaching staff will look to utilize our skill set better as we have very distinct physical advantages in many areas, so by allowing our players to be on a even or balanced playing field we then will see how dominate this team is. The saints are a great example as Brees is the same as Brady in that he is older and should be protected so to do this we need to think like captain kirk in a 3 dimensional attack as he defeated Khan in the nebula cause he thought in a 2 dimensional mindset similar to the way the saints did against us as they knew it was going to be a physical game so they were able to get leverage and small gains and continue to damage our team or ship and we keep presenting ourselves in a 2 dimensional attack which was easier to defeat. We got a great quarterback and players but we need to start looking more at how to get advantages at all areas like a boxing match individually how we match up and know what our weaknesses are in all areas and play to our strengths and their weaknesses or as the saints did with us to our over enthusiasm or pursuit.

I said this in a past thread. The Arians offense almost Begs for Interceptions!
It is the nature of the offense, kind of like how a home run hitter strikes out a lot.
More so then some other offenses, it absolutely requires the QB and receiver to be on the exact same page.

  8. PSL Bob Says:

The Pick-6 was the one that got me so upset. I immediately thought that’s why we jettisoned Winston. A QB with Brady’s knowledge and experience should not have thrown that ball or thrown it to the outside where it couldn’t be intercepted. So, was it a poor decision or a bad throw. Hopefully the latter.

Acho has best sports talk show on tv with marcellus wiley and lavar arrington. They speak the truth right down the middle without the woke bs….his points were pretty valid although he did leave out Big Ben. Wiley also pointed out his narrative left out the TDs that were thrown by the #1 overall QBs

  10. Bobby M. Says:

I think the toss to Mike Evans could be attributed to Arians offense…..the outlet pass was simply a bad throw, it had nothing to do with the style of play calling.

Again…..I think what gets clicks/ratings today is extreme view points. Its week 1 of a very bizarre year and offseason. In a normal year, week 1 upsets happen….IMO they tend to occur up through week 3-4. From week 4 on, you generally have a good feel for what teams are about. Brady had a bad game and lost…seems like the last 3 times he lost on opening day he went on to win a Super Bowl. So a week 1 loss isnt really all that reflective of what is to come. By week 4-5….we should see have a decent sample size of what we’re good at and what our weaknesses are.

  11. dmatt Says:

Tom, just like Manning, Montana, Bradshaw, n other legends had a bad day Sunday. Tom is a redeemer and overcome adversity type guy/player. He’s not washed up,n believe me,vengeance is on his mind. The two qb sneaks Sunday for a td n first down respectively, demonstrates that he will lead with a come back mind set. Never count the GOAT out, many teams have regretted n paid their dues by underestimating TB.

  12. bojim Says:

Well he ain’t gonna throw 30 ints.

  13. Arians Is Over-Rated Says:

    Speak the truth brother!

  14. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

his out patterns should never be used unless it’s the hot read. Anything else and guys know to sit on it for an easy pick. Arians is not a good coach because he doesn’t adjust period, something we seem to have coaches who never do. That is part of the reason for all the picks last year

  15. Arians Is Over-Rated Says:

Everything this man said was Hot Facts!!! Get another coach in here, stat!

It is a fun show. And Acho is very good.

  17. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I agree, the play calling was terrible. Need to stick to the pass and ram the ball in the 4th quarter if we are ahead.

  18. unbelievable Says:

I love how now that Brady is here suddenly everyone is recognizing the problems that have been here for years.

That exact route was picked off half a dozen times last season too. They are telegraphing it every single time, and somehow so dumb they keep doing it with zero adjustments.

    Makes no sense, man.
