Trouble In New Orleans

August 31st, 2020

Disarray among the NFC South champs

No, Jameis Winston won’t be starting against the Bucs on opening day. Calm down, Jameis lovers and/or Drew Brees haters.

But it seems possible that one big-name Saints player will either sit out or not be in the right frame of mind.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this afternoon that superstar running back Alvin Kamara has stopped practicing. He’s in the final year of his inexpensive rookie contract and, apparently, wants to get paid in hurry. Perhaps Kamara doesn’t want to put his career on the line against the No. 1-ranked Bucs rush defense before he gets a lifetime of financial security.

Joe loves hearing of this turmoil in New Orleans. It can only add to the Saints’ well-documented troubles on opening day.

Quote from above, “Perhaps Kamara doesn’t want to put his career on the line against the No. 1-ranked Bucs rush defense before he gets a lifetime of financial security.”

Too funny…..but this may well be the case. Good for the Bucs.

  3. Wesley Says:

    That’s a shame.

  4. NPRSageBoy Says:

Let JayMiss play RB. Probably only time he would see the field this year.

  5. Sarasota Garey Says:

Thats a big deal for sure, what other runningbacks do they have on their roster?

  6. bucfanforver Says:

NPR, Rule#1 of a runningback: Don’t Fumble. no way Jameis can tote the rock, he’d just put it on the ground.

  7. vic robertson Says:

careful people……karma is a fickle chick..sorry to hear of their troubles. #whodat…whocares? #gobucs

  8. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

You know how this story will go. Another N.O.running back will run havoc on the Bucs ala past back up QBs.

  9. SB Says:

I wonder if some fans are still upset we took Vea over Derwin James
Cat never has been able to stay healthy.

  10. BillyBucFan Says:

    Agreed on Derwin.
Especially when Vea is about to be in the spot light.

    All Pro Season ahead

  11. Hawk Says:

It could also be that he is smart enough to know that when the cap goes down next year, so will all offers.

  12. Steven007 Says:

Something we can all agree on. I’ll take trouble in New Orleans every day of the week and twice on Wednesdays.

  13. Dewey Selmon Says:

Plain and simple, he scared. He’ll be back week 2. Them big bad Bucs are coming to town.

  14. SufferingSince76 Says:

The real question is what will the Saints do. It’s not like the other backs are barn burners. Do they wait until it hurts or cave now?

  15. Big_Bucs Says:

Not shocked if he is holding out for money. Can’t blame him I would wan’t my money too. Thats good for the Bucs but it could turn into a nightmare if they pickup Leonard Fournette and he is productive. However I doubt that happens.

  16. Buczilla Says:

    Awesome news.

  17. james west Says:

    Nothingburger.

  19. El Buco Realisto Says:

Wish the Buc’s had a running back that was good enough to hold out for a second contract!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. vic robertson Says:

who would you rather face? fournette or kamara? cause if you think saints dont go after him-youre crazy…were not the only team tryin to get to the dance

  21. Jeffbuc Says:

Vic Robertson Fournette is on the waiver wire so it goes by last years draft spots. So we will have the 11th chance to get him. So if we want Fournette the saints can’t do anything about it. Just the ten teams in front of us can.

  22. Pryda...sec147 Says:

He wants a payday before salary cap crashes lol he also don’t want the smoke from d white

  23. Nick2 Says:

You would think he would have started a little sooner to complain about his contract????

  24. Mike Johnson Says:

No buying into one word of it. The Saints will have a RB who will run. They will be ready like they are always are. Bucs had better be ready too.

  25. vic robertson Says:

jeffbuc- thanks for the clarification. knock on oxygen then fingers crossed

  26. El Buco Realisto Says:

Pretty telling how the sheep are so excited that a player for the Saints might not be available on game day!!!!!!!!!! What happened to the self proclaimed “A+” coaching staff that the sheep say arem the best?????? What happened to this supposed talented roster that the sheep claim here daily??????????

Intern Zach asks: ” Mr Realist, what are the sheep most afraid of”???????

The Bucs Realist says: ” The Truth”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Kord Says:

Can’t remember all of the saints running backs names of the past but I recall most unknown backs having success against us, but that was awhile back, going to stun the saints and the league in a few weeks!

  28. Buc50 Says:

Kamara is worth every cent. Get yo money bruh. Sit out the season if you have to.

  29. Jaycorr Says:

Murray the backup is not a bad running back

  30. JimbobBucsFan Says:

It would be a bizarre time for such a holdout. Then again, what is normal this year?

Bucs got to control what they can control and be ready for anyone who is out there come September 13th.

    Go Bucs! Win now!

  31. Sport Says:

Dudes a beast. He’ll be ready to go when the ball is in the air regardless if he’s at practice or not.

Stopping the run no matter who the running back is our calling card. I’ve been harping on a identity, stopping the run is the first one we’ve had in over a decade.

    Go Bucs!

    In BA I Trust!

  32. CPN Says:

Maybe Kamara will sit out this season?

  33. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Wonderful news! I’m super concerned about his finances too. I hope he holds out all season for a huge contract.

  34. Snook Says:

Kamara is in for a surprise. New Orleans won’t give him a big contract. They’ll find value in the draft at RB and move on from him. You don’t pay RBs big contracts. EVER. That’s what they’ve done all along since Payton has been HC and that’s what will happen again.

  35. Snook Says:

Saints are already projected to nearly $40M over the cap for 2021. They’re not paying Kamara. Same reason Brees is on their books for 2022 and 2023 despite not being under contract then. Saints salary cap is a mess. Go look it up.
