Tom Brady’s Exacting Standards

August 6th, 2020

Early assessment.

Stories have seeped out of One Buc Palace centering on park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and his high standards.

We’ve heard stories that even months ago at Berkeley Prep, throwing the ball around with a handful of other Bucs, that a Brady pass would be completed and everyone thought it was successful. Except for Brady who would demand the play be run again until it was crisp, the way it was drawn up to be run.

Well, to hear Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians detail it, those stories are not BS.

Arians said the early critique on Brady is very much like Peyton Manning; a play has to be run just right in order for it to succeed, from the snap to the release to the route to the catch.

“I think the desire to excel every single day, every play,” Arians explained of what sets Brady apart. “If the ball is not where he wants it or the receiver’s not where he wants him, it’s non-stop grind with him. It was the same way with Peyton [Manning].

“I think they all have the same qualities of willing themselves on other people to win and making them accept it quickly. All the good ones, they all had it. When they talked, everybody listened, and Tom has that for sure.

“Obviously, he has the rings and all that, but what he did over at Berkeley [Prep], that was strictly on him. Nobody edged him on to do that. He was like, ‘Hey, let’s get going.’ Right now, he’s tired of walk-throughs already. He’s like, ‘We’ve got to practice.’ We’ve got to wait about five more days, but yeah, I love that about him.”

Arians loves that, but how much?

Joe asked Arians how he handles Brady.

Does Arians treat Brady like an assistant coach? Does Arians allow Brady slack because of his jewelry? Does Arians look the other way on Brady because of his resume?

As Arians says himself, hell no!

“He’s just another guy,” Arians said. “He gets cussed out like everybody else, so it’s no different that way.”

It’s good to know Arians hasn’t lost his edge, either.

“He gets cussed out like everybody else”…

    Classic BA…

  2. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

TB12 is the polar opposite of the Saints 3rd string quarterback….refreshing!

  3. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Now this is the kind of story I like. No personal opinion. Just straight.

  4. Sarasota Garey Says:

Per cbs pick six podcast, Bucs had turnovers on 21 percent of their offensive possessions, the worst NE has done in the last decade is 10 percent one year, the other 9 was 4 percent. Bucs defense had 5th worst starting field positions last year.

Glad to read somewhere on JBF yesterday that Scotty has put on 10lbs of muscle! That’ll go a long way holding his skeleton together this year.. he’ll have a great year with a QB that can hit him on time and in stride…. along with all the other eligible pass catchers

  6. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

@Sarasota: Some apologist would say the stats you listed are…..Ali Marpet’s fault. Wait for it…

  7. Bucsfan951 Says:

    @Sarasota

Yeah, but that was the receivers faults. They ran wrong/sloppy routes.

Also, JW was pressured way too much and that was the cause of the ints, too.

Also, they didn’t have a run game, and that was the cause of the ints, too.

Also, the defense sucked and that was the cause of the ints, too.

Also, the kicker sucked and that was the cause of the ints, too.

The play calling sucked and that was the cause of the ints, too.

The head coach is a backstabber and that was the cause of the ints, too.

The refs had some pretty bad calls and that was the cause of the ints, too.

See where I’m going with this? Every excuse in the book has been used…

  8. Hodad Says:

Brady has the resume, knowledge, and therefor the players hang on his every word, will do what it takes to get things right. JW screwed up so bad with his turnovers how could he possibly hold another player accountable for screwing up?

  9. BacktaBucs! Says:

For the first time in years I am STOKED about Bucs football!

    Go Bucs!

  10. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Obviously BA was not seeing ANY redeeming qualities in Jaymiss that he has seen in his other QBs. Doesn’t even sound close. I wonder if Brady, Luck, Big Ben, Palmer, etc had to google to find out how to be a QB or if it was their sheer will to reach out in other ways.

  11. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Such a refreshing change at the QB position.

  12. SlyPirate541 Says:

Brady should make the defense better, too. Practicing against a QB that makes quick decisions and is accurate will require the DBs to be sharper.

As Winston used to say, “Steel sharpens steel.”

  13. Boston Boy Says:

For us Patriots fans it sux to hear this cuz we know it is true. Brady made New England great. Now he is in Tampa Bay. Enjoy the ride.

  14. Ndog Says:

Call me crazy but shouldn’t the coach set expectations? Oh I forgot we’re talking about our coach who’s pretty much useless.

  15. Ndog Says:

Oh sorry I forgot he’s good at lying and spewing b******* my bad.

  16. Bucsfan951 Says:

I’m sure crazy isn’t on the top of some peoples list, NPUPPY.

Stuoid, moronic, dumb are what comes to a lot of people’s minds.

I would say narcissistic and most recently, ex high school qb, comes to my mind.

  17. PSL Bob Says:

Thanks for chiming in Boston Boy! Needless to say we’re excited. Two unfortunate aspects though: Brady will likely play for only two seasons, and we don’t know what effect the virus will have on this season.

  18. SufferingSince76 Says:

He scored four touchdowns for the Polk High Panthers in the ‘66 championship game!!!

  19. stpetebucsfan Says:

Look at the pics of Brady like this one. Dude does NOT look 43. He is blessed with a full head of hair which cancels out baldness which makes a guy look old…sometimes prematurely. Color is not an issue…he may have gray that Gisele hides from us.

But he has a very youthful face and of course he has treated his body like it is the crown jewel…which it is…and it shows. He is one YOUNG looking 43 year old.

Ken Stabler looked older than TB does when he came into the league.

  20. james west Says:

  21. Big Stinky Says:

Old stale bisquit likes to talk chit. No way he has cursed out Brady yet. Watch him ruin the GOAT like he ruined SHAMELESS!!!

  22. Buczilla Says:

    Cool story.

  23. Paul Says:

    park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady

wasted ink as usual. This is the GOAT. He should be treated as such. After all your fawning over JW you would think you would be more professional and not so childish but….
