“I’ve Never Seen So Much Talent”

August 21st, 2020

We’ve heard this song before.

While this was way cool to watch, Joe has to admit the ending made him cringe.

In recent years’ past, the following statement was the kiss of death. So pardon Joe if he got the shivers hearing Bucco Bruce Arians slobber over his team.

The Bucs’ video artists put together yet another fabulous edition of “The Current,” sort of like an in-house produced “Hard Knocks.”

This one focused on the 2020 Bucs but mostly on the COVID-19 virus and how the team battles it. Interviews with Donovan Smith, who had a heartfelt Instagram message about concerns of playing in a pandemic; with Cam Brate who actually contracted the virus, and Ali Marpet, the team’s NFLPA representative are featured.

Then in the final moments of the video were clips of Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians addressing the team to open training camp. He pulled no punches.

“Honest to God I looked out there today — I’ve been in this league 27 years,” Arians said. “I’ve never seen so much talent on one field.”

Joe needs a Big Storm beer.

Joe had some ugly flashbacks hearing Arians. Like the exact same time former Bucs coach Dirk Koetter stood in front of his Bucs at the start of training camp and said the Bucs were the most talented Tampa Bay team he had seen since entering the NFL.

The Bucs promptly finished 5-11 with a locker room fractured worse than Kendell Beckwith’s ankle.

Then the next season, also at training camp, Father Dungy was a guest. Speaking to the assembled Fourth Estate, Dungy said there was no doubt in his mind the Bucs had the talent to make the playoffs.

The Bucs finished 5-11 again and were looking for a new coach.

So yeah, Joe did a facepalm when he heard Arians crow about how much talent the Bucs have.

Joe would much prefer people connected to the Bucs beat their chests about wins instead of talent. Don’t talk about the workers, get the job done!

There were lighter moments in the video. Of course there were, it had Arians mic’d up!

“Let’s face it dude: We ain’t the Bucs,” Arians told the players. “We are 80 motherf@#$^&s looking for a job. Get one of them!”

And in sort of a cry to march to battle, Arians told his Bucs, “We are going to have our @ss ready to go to New Orleans.”

The thing about Smith is I read a number of internet tuff guys of a certain demographic that rained down insults on him because he makes $$$millions and now we see the one who contacted it and also makes $$$millions shire understanding and compassion for his stance. It is these people who use so called stats to prove this thing isn’t as deadly as the media puts out. They and this president of ours are the reason why we lead the world in all categories because in the end they only care about themselves. This isn’t deadly??? 172000 families will beg to differ.

  3. Mike Says:

We actually have someone to lead all of this talent joe, that is why it is different.

  7. Bucnuts Says:

Look at the VERY end of the video. Brady is one of the few guys taking notes as BA speaks. Maybe that’s one of the reasons he has 6 rings. Says a lot about him.

  8. El Buco Realisto Says:

Waitn until Brady’s notes from now that won’t match up to the notes later in the season!!!!!!!! That is when he will lose confidence and know like the “real” fans that ole stale biscuit is full of $hit!!!!!!!!!!!!! What until his sloppy coaching and lack of attention to detail start to cost games again!!!!!!!!! Maybe if they handed out superbowl trophies for video production, hype and tough talk that leads no where, then the “real” fans would have a more positive outlook for this franchise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Intern Zach ask: “Mr Realist, do sheep cry?”

The Buc Realist says,”They do in Tampa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. August 1976 Buc Says:

Dirk Koetter and Jameis versus Bruce and Brady, so yes same statement, but good news is this time the G O A T is QB. Again as I have said before, the only thing that will stop this offense is injuries or Covid. There is not a defense on the Planet that is going stop this offense! It is an awesome day in Tampa Bay!! GO BUCS!!!

Watched it 3 times so far. Shiz got me stoked. I wanna go out and hit a sled!

The players are feeling something special. This time of year is usually a grind, it’s not normally this exciting. They feeling it, and it comes across in these videos.

  15. ocala Says:

As Buc fans we are all jaded, but as long as Tom Brady is healthy this team has a floor of 10 wins.

Only three teams have better odds to win the Super Bowl this year more than the Bucs:

    Good Post Joe.
However, that statement coming from Arians means much more to me then it ever did from Koetter.

  20. WillieG Says:

Talent cannot overcome piss poor decision making, inaccurate throws, and 30 interceptions. I don’t think those items will be an issue this year.

  21. unbelievable Says:

Watching Brady and Howard and co. all giving Cameron Brate chit for his weak-arsed huddle speech was pretty damn funny.
