Ali Marpet Football (Adult Entertainment)

Pro Bowl-type play.

After seeing this play, the very first thing that went through Joe’s head was why didn’t we see it more last year.

With plays like this, Bucs left guard Ali Marpet will be playing in Las Vegas in January in the Pro Bowl, unless the Bucs are playing at home the following week in the Super Bowl.

Andy Benoit, formerly of SI.com, is a football film junkie and likes to share cutups highlighting a good play, or a good player or two.

So last night Benoit, for reasons not quite clear, put out a clip of Ali Marpet trucking a Colts defender as he pulled on a run play to his right.

Benoit compared the move to Colts bulldozer guard Quenton Nelson.

Joe guesses this is the type of play that led Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians to declare he’s not concerned about the offensive line with opening weekend less than a month away.

The offensive line was not the issue last year. They were an above average unit. The blocking from the TE and RB positions was definitely an issue.

Let’s not get carried away, he blocked a CB. Granted, he did it well but again he’s a CB vs an OL.

Oh you mean to tel me OJ howard couldnt block Nick Bosa? Too many times we had a rb or TE blocking an all pro lineman

  4. Bojim Says:

Adam I think he was showing the speed at which he got to the other side to block said CB. But thanks for pointing that out. 🙂

Jameis was the 2nd most blitzed QB in the NFL. That should tell you the offensive line was stout against opposing teams’ front four. Well, that or other teams knew that getting Jameis off his spot would cause interceptions (and they were right). The TEs and RBs did a bad job picking up blitzes.

Yeah, if they didn’t know already, Marpet is a beast!

  7. BA4President Says:

Wow, that’s pretty cool. I wouldn’t have caught that on my own.

That is beautiful stuff there! Marpet comes out of nowhere, as far as that defender was concerned, and then he explodes under that defender! Watch the CB’s arms fly up after Marpet blasts him. Surprised the guy kept his balance at all, he nearly doesn’t! So nice to be justifiably optimistic for a change. I simply can not wait to see this team this year!!!

I don’t remember ever seeing that formation before – 3 players lined up to the outside of the tackle (Dotson). Seemed to work fairly well.

  10. Brandon Short Says:

It was a good block but his player still made the tackle. Not exactly pancake worthy.

  11. Ricky Ricardo Says:

His player wasn’t within 20 yards of the tackle.

    You cannot do the Babaloo!!

  12. Clean House Says:

Give me a break, weak sauce, no pancake, I could have blocked that corner w that momentum

The Safety tripped up the player before Marpet’s guy sat on him.
