Tom Brady And The Run Game

June 22nd, 2020

“Tom, watching the Bucs running backs is like watching FOX News on weekends — a total waste of time. I’ve tried to tell Ed Glazer this but he won’t listen. Sad!”

One would think a grizzled veteran in the sunset of his career like park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady would benefit greatly from a run game that might make a defensive coordinator worried for more than three minutes.

One NFL follower suggests Brady does not need a run game. Grant Gordon of NFL.com looked at Brady’s history with running backs and the awful recent history of the Bucs’ impotent run game and believes Brady can get by quite well without a running attack.

Interestingly enough, of Brady’s record six Super Bowl wins, three have come in seasons in which the Patriots had 1,000-yard runners and three have come without.

Gordon went on to point out how lousy the Tampa Bay running game has been in the Lost Decade and he’s not so sure that things change much for the better on the ground for the Bucs this season.

If Brady can cut down on turnovers, the Bucs should be OK on offense, Gordon believes.

Of course, none of this is based on how a 43-year old quarterback plays. NFL history is unkind to all 43-year old quarterbacks.

Yes, Brady is a different cat. But as Joe always points out, Father Time is undefeated. We shall see if Brady can rob two more years from Father Time before he wakes up with his Mossberg Maverick 88 in hand.

Even if Father time catches up a bit he is still an upgrade at the position.

And at the end of the day that is what is most important.

For some reason I picture Brady being more of a Browning or Benelli man, than Mossberg. Nothing against Mossberg mind you. I own a 500 😀

You better believe coordinators were up late preparing for JW.
Despite the turnovers, they had to be on their game. #1 in NFL total offense 2019

So Joe, I see you took a shot at Fox news and allowed a racist on here spouting his Trump crap. So I guess you are caving in to the Bullspit. This is sad because you have said many times over the years that this thread was for Buc news and fans only.

  15. Ron Says:

Brady is very good as disguising his play calling and when he is given more viable options to choose from this allows him to make the defense hesitant. This allows for a better run game as most runners are able to hit holes and break arm tackles and generally have enough speed to get into the secondary. We should have a more efficient offensive line as the defenses we face we be guessing more allow them to open gaps in the line for the running game.

Well then it sure is a good thing that RoJo will easily have over 1k yards rushing this season.

All the more curious if not troubling the PASS ON RB With so many potential starters who could have given an instant upgrade and viable Running game ..Someone REALLY thinks Rojo is the next Payton or Sanders but I’m thinking thsts a hell of a risk on a ALL IN. MUST WIN NO TOMMOROW SEASON like we may potentially see later in the fall ..Like November …Cmon people ..who thinks 100 guys are gathering at one Buc in 3 weeks ?? Arrians is a 67 y/0 cancer survivor…IF HE GETS THE VIRUS …HE WOULD NOT LIVE TO SEE THE SEASONS END..Hows thst u stat geeks …Inagine saying the Bucs are only 3-6 against NFC teams AFD…after coach died …Not trying to doom and gloom just real
