“I Think They Finish 8-8”

June 22nd, 2020

Non-believer.

Not everybody is jumping on the Tom Brady bandwagon.

In a recent discussion of how the Bucs will finish this year, BSPN’s Diana Russini admitted she had to rethink her stance.

Russini believes Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians is already botching the transition from Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, to park-violating, home-invading Brady.

Arians has stated the offense will be Arians’, not what Brady ran in New England, but the offense will have a distinct Brady influence.

Russini, in so many words, thinks this is backwards.

“Why the heck is [Arians’] offense not the Tom Brady offense?” Russini asked. “Period, end of sentence. This is a guy who has been in the same system for 20 years. Give him everything he knows.

“Why are you going to teach him anything different? There is going to be a learning curve. We are having this condensed offseason. We have a lot of change for Brady. As good as he is, as smart of a quarterback as we know Tom Brady to be, he still has to learn his players. He still has to build his chemistry, figure out a playbook run by Bruce Arians.

“So when I heard that [Brady will learn Arians’ offense], I started to shift my thought onto how Tampa was going to finish. I think they finish 8-8.”

There are a few things working here. While Joe thinks, on the surface, Russini is absolutely on point, Joe thought Arians explained himself quite well and made all the sense in the world. Arians said it is easier for a real smart player like Brady to learn a new offense than it is for 10 guys to learn a new offense.

And it is not like Arians just fell off the beer truck. Arians will incorporate some of what Brady does well into gameplans. Only a fool wouldn’t.

It is not like Brady has to develop chemistry with everyone. He’s got his safety valve Rob Gronkowski as a new/old teammate.

Joe thinks labeling what offense is going to be used is overblown. Hey, a guy so many Bucs fans couldn’t wait to run out of town sure did OK in his first year learning Arians’ offense, leading the NFL in passing.

You’re right Joe, Jameis Winston did Lead the NFL, not just in total passing, but in total offense, passing yards per game, and was 2nd in the entire NFL in TD’s.

Let’s see how the Patriot sunset tour adapt. If we make the playoffs, I’ll happily eat my words.

I hope BS calls Brady up to whisper in his ear so we can get this straight and I hope Mr. Licht is scouring all the JuCo’s and NAIA schools for our next star.

  2. Clean House Says:

Damn that chick’s smokin hot, never seen her before. Wow.

  3. Bob in Valrico Says:

TH\he loss of Humphries, led to too many mishaps in the short passing game’IMO. This is not a weakness of Brady. I am less worried about the chemistry than the wear and tear of a full season could have taken on Brady’s arm and WR’s
hamstrings. Along with injuries Now there are chances of covid infections could
    affect a team’s success.

  4. Buc4evr Says:

The only reason the Bucs would be 8-8 is the effects of the Sickness. Either the loss of players or the shortened training camp and preseason. Nobody knows what the Bucs offense will really look like at this point, so to rely on BA’s comments from a press conference is a bit premature.

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

…. if Kay Adams had a slightly dorkier looking sister with a hot body…….

  6. Youngbucs Says:

Clean House you always seem to forget the turnovers. He lead the nfl in turnovers all 5 years but that’s not his fault we know.

  7. Youngbucs Says:

By the way Clean House nobody needs to whisper in Brady’s ear. He knows how to do his job.

  8. Anonymous Says:

You people are delusion Winston was a garbage QB who will never win anything in the NFL.

You should all get on your knees and thank the heavens you lucked out and are graced with Brady and Gronks presence there.

Even an 80 yr old Brady is miles better than Winston.

    You’re a bunch of fools.

  9. Clean House Says:

Maybe he can whisper to Father Time then and keep him at bay.

  10. Clean House Says:

Bob In Valrico, i agree about Humph.
Huge mistake letting him get away.

  11. Bruce Blahak Says:

The ol 5000 yard failure thrown in there at the end. Borderline stalker, you are. For the 10,000th time. HE SUCKS ! Stats are for losers….

  12. Eddie Says:

Brady will be just fine. He doesn’t have to relearn how to read defenses just a new playbook.Gee do you think he’s never seen a new play before. And yes she’s very cute.

  13. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

    5000 yards- Credit to Jameis.
30 picks, 7 fumbles, 7 pick sixes- everybody else’s fault.

    We get it.

  14. Stonedbuc Says:

At this point these people are going with the Colin cowturd method.. go against the grain and hope you’re right.

  15. Allbuccedup Says:

8-8 is probably about right. It won’t be just about BA and Brady it will be about no depth on this team. One player goes down they are history.

  16. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

Pretty sure he led the league in opening possession picks. One hell of a stat there. Somebody must have run the wrong route.

  17. Clean House Says:

Maybe the coach isn’t such a great whisperer or didn’t try hard enough. Maybe his vaunted offense isn’t genius at all, but rather unbalanced, risky and dumb. Maybe his desire for qbs to be tough nd hang in there till the last second is dumb. Haven’t heard him saying that lately with his new whisperee.

  18. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

Or maybe he had a half blind player to work with who could only read stat sheets.

  19. Buczilla Says:

I’m much more worried about our defense continuing to improve and what looks to be a woeful running game until proven it isn’t. Arians and Brady will be fine.

  20. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

Russini is either extremely ignorant of the NFL or is an idiot…”“Why the heck is [Arians’] offense not the Tom Brady offense?” Because, its Bellechick’s offense, because the rest of the team already has a season of BA’s offense, because coaches don’t just adopt another coach’s offense carte blanche esp. if they aren’t an undertstudy of said coach; BA’s and Bellicheat’s offenses are similar AND BA and BL both said they work into the Buc’s offense things Brady likes and eliminate things he doesn’t, just like BA did with Ben and Carson. For Diana to say what she said is just way off base and embarrassing for her! Total garbage.

  21. MRRR Says:

Ok, here we go again. Jameis was not the number 1 qb last year. He was 32nd. Ahead of him was Nick Foles who the Jaguars benched. As for the 8-8 prediction – we were 7-9 with a QB who threw interceptions including pick 6’s at a rate the NFL has never seen before. Obviously that will not happen this year. Realistically, 11-5 or 12-4.

  22. Stanglassman Says:

MRRR-Please show us what metric or rating had Jameis ranked 32? I’m sure you wouldn’t just make that up. Love to see it.

  23. TOM Says:

    10-6

  25. SOEbuc Says:

8-8? .500? JW was almost 8-8 last year till he sealed his deal week 17. EVERY nationalist is saying a average number cus they’re clueless like everyone else. “Oh yeah TB12 has all those receiving weapons including Gronk but he’s 43.” Dude won the SB and was #5 QB in 2018. I don’t know where they get this sh!t. TB12 doesn’t care about the media but he knows community and team are PUMPED so he’s gonna shove it up there arses and hopefully bring us home a Lombardi.

If Russini looked like Bella Abzug, no one would give one stinky crap what she has to say, and she’d not be any more credible.

  32. Beeej Says:

HOW do we know the offense Brady ran in N.E. was the one he preferred?

  33. Mike Johnson Says:

I’m a Bucs fan. I just don’t think the acquisition of a banged up, 43 7yr old vet along with his sidekick were smart moves by the Bucs organization. It was one of sheer desperation. Not only did they overpay Brady all that guaranteed money, it has set us back a couple of years because we must find his replacement after he goes down repeatedly throughout the season. He is only like 2 big solid hits away from injured reserve. And these old timers don’t heal as quick. Ask Gronk, he has not completed a full season since 2011. I love my Bucs But we just cannot get it right. correct me if I am wrong here. But doesn’t brady get paid regardless? Bucs got hoodwinked.

  34. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    11-5 or 12-4

  36. SOEbuc Says:

Ppl who think Brady, BA, BL weren’t gonna mesh together a new system before the ink was on the paper I don’t consider the brightest of the bunch. Brady will have them in line by week four if the season isn’t cancelled.

    GO BUCS!!!

  37. gotbbucs Says:

    @ Beeej

Exactly. Brady was looking for a fresh start, not just a new place to do the same thing he’d done for 20 years. I’m guessing the couple years of having Moss on the outside were a fun departure from the norm. Maybe he was looking for that one last time.

I’m in no way convinced that there will actually be a season this year, so all this hand wringing may be for nothing.

What 8-8 Man Bucs were a Couple Morning plays away Last year from

  39. Jim Says:

What did she say? I didn’t hear her (because I’m still drooling)

  40. CPN Says:

I think 10-6 is the final record, give or take 2 wins.

  41. Tom Says:

BA already told the reporters a few months ago that it will be easier for Brady to learn his offense than teach the entire team Patriots offense. This girl didn’t follow the Bucs’news.

  42. BA Redzone Says:

Russini nailed it. Kudos to her for being bold enough to say it!. Tom STILL has to learn his WR’s tendencies. AND the BA playbook, even if Tom reverts to his NE offense, mid-season.

YES -Brady is accustomed to playing against teams who bring their best game against him. But Brady also had years of a super-weak AFC North division schedule.

Bucs have a challenging schedule. And improved NFC South for competition. 8-8 is realistic. Brady is 43 and time catches up.

Can’t wait to hear BA excuses with his prized Door #2 QB…
