Nobody Better

The best?

Welcome to June when lists are all the rage in the NFL until training camps open (if they open).

The annual seasons of lists begins today.

Who is the best? Who is the worst? Who is just OK? You will see a lot of lists all over the NFL world in the next two months.

So let’s begin the month of June with the best receiving corps in the NFL. Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report says no NFL team has better receivers than the Bucs.

That’s right. The Bucs are No. 1, baby!

Although wideouts Chris Godwin and Mike Evans missed five combined games because of hamstring injuries, they totaled the most yards (2,490) and touchdowns (17) among receiver duos with at least 1,000 yards apiece.

Rob Gronkowski came out of retirement to join a solid tight end tandem. O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate combined for 70 catches, 770 yards and five touchdowns in 2019.

After a year away from football, Gronkowski, the WWE 24/7 champion, had time to heal any lingering injuries or wear and tear from nine pro seasons. He doesn’t have to take on a lead role with Howard and Brate on the roster. As a red-zone threat, the 6’6″, 268-pounder rounds out the best tight end group in the NFL.

Yeah, if you include tight ends in the mix, it’s really difficult to argue against the Bucs. The way Joe looks at it, not only are Mike Evans and Chris Godwin the best one-two punch at receiver in the game, no team that is deeper at tight end. No one.

Now can head coach Bucco Bruce Arians, who reinforced his reputation last year for not using tight ends, find a way to diversify his offense in order to take advantage of three guys at tight end who could start for many teams?

If the Bucs (Arians) aren’t going to utilize those tight ends, they why keep them on the roster when one or two could be packaged in a deal to bolster another area of the team?

Use ’em or lose ’em.

The three TEs guard against injury to a TE or WR…….if we lost Godwin or Evans then the TE group could be used more……if we lost a TE….we have two others who are capable.
Other than that, I agree that we need gameplans that use TEs or we need to trade one of them.

Well when you had TEs dropping balls and America’s Uber handling tacos, Pick6 Santa Claus QB you might want to stick to what is working – your pro-bowl receivers.

    Check the sheet!

Great stuff to read Monday morning on June 1, especially when it puts the Bucs at the very top in anything good.

I am confident if Brady wants to use tight ends more, they will, which of course means Brady would also throw more to them. This is especially important to consider given TJ in the slot is right now an unknown quantity. But I’ll give GM JL credit in one area, and that’s drafting some really good WRs.

Brady will be like a kid in a candy store. I can’t remember the Bucs having a better, more experienced receving corps…and if TJ works out well, this would have to be best one in Bucs history and one of the best in the NFL ever.

Add to this, at practice, these guys are just going to make the Bowles pass D that much better, and make the backup WRs better.

They have the best duo. I think there is a Grand Canyon sized drop off at 3. Think KC is the deepest, and I kinda like what Denver did going 4 deep with blazing speed but obviously picking nits here. With Gronk and OJ both running seams up the hashes, Godwin and Evans being that much more free – Jesus. Period point blank it’s going to be a fireworks show

    Solid. hehehehehhehehhe

  6. BigHog Says:

I got a question. If Gronk is not going to be the game changer of old…the hard blocking edge setter…the reckless player of old ..then why pay him 10million? And answer is we got got!! Tampa fans BUCS fans “I CAN’T BREATHE”!!

    Good points Roy.

Is it possible our probowl receivers help in the impressive progress of our young secondary players? I think Brady will make them better yet. The se o dart will battle precision passes like never before. That’s probably why Bowles can’t wait to meet Brady in person. There is no better QB in the NFL to help our secondary become sharper during practices. I have a feeling our young guys are eager to continue their growth.

Think about this folks …..less interceptions with this team. I don’t see the defense carrying this team. I see the team as a whole taking care of business as the season unfolds.

    Go Bucs!!!!

    ^secondary

  9. Roy T. Buford Says:

@No Risk It…yup…agreed. In fact, think of the effect this will have when they supposedly draft Brady’s replacement next year…learning under Brady, and being pushed/mentored by this receiving corps, and throwing day after day to a (by then) seasoned, skilled, ball-hawking secondary. Makes my head spin just thinking about it.

Very exciting times for Bucs fans. Perfect scenario Roy. Perfect!

Just had a vision of Gronkowski catching the Superbowl winning touchdown against the Patriots. Wouldn’t that be irony!

“aren’t going to utilize those tight ends, they why keep them on the roster”
I think you wanted the word “then” not they. I could be wrong. Because I once thought I made a mistake but I was wrong.

  13. Bojim Says:

There will be tight ends this season.

  14. Kobe Faker Says:

    “LOL!

How well did this tandem of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin do in the last 2 games of the 2019 season? The production was off the charts!

    FACT

The tandem of JBF posters, The Buc Realist and El Buco Realisto, had equallally the same amount of receptions and total yardage as Evans and Godwin.

    FACT

Because of the amazing production of the last 2 games of the 2019 season by Evans and Godwin, the 2019 QB is locked up somewhere in the basement of Mercedez Superdome Stadium watching film 20 hours per day”

You have the right idea. I thought the same thing last season, but Byron had different ideas.

  17. Howard Cosell Says:

    Weapons for Winston baby!! Right?…

  18. Buczilla Says:

Mike Evans is the best wideout in the NFL. When you add in a top 5 in Godwin, of course you should be considered to have the best receivers in football. Moton is a genius… If Gronk comes back and is his old self, then we should dominate even without a proven running back.
