Disrespect

June 20th, 2020

Dissed.

It isn’t just David Diehl.

Yesterday, Joe brought word that the former Pro Bowl offensive lineman, who periodically is heard on SiriusXM NFL Radio, seemed unmoved by the wide receiver tandem that combined to lead the NFL in receiving last year.

That would be Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Evans and his numbers are on a Hall of Fame path, and Godwin totally blew up and is due to bank serious cash next year. They accounted for 2,490 yards, nearly 200 more yards than the second-best duo of Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.

And Evans and Godwin missed a total of five games at the end of the season with injuries. No telling how many yards these two would have had if they stayed healthy.

And then throw the fact some Bucs fans believe the duo had evil-personified throwing them the ball. How could these two not be the best?

Well, even though on face value Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner admitted they may be the best, he said Evans and Godwin wouldn’t be his first choice as the top receiver pair.

On “Total Access” this week, seen weeknights on NFL Network, Steve Mariucci, LaDainian Tomlinson and Warner were asked to pick the best wide receiver tandem in the NFL.

Warner and Tomlinson both picked Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. while Mariucci selected DeAndre Hopkins and Larry Fitzgerald. Honestly, Joe would have respected Mariucci more if he picked CeeDee Lamb and Hopkins. Joe loved Larry but Larry is old.

Man, just no respect for Evans and Godwin. See the segment in question in the NFL Network video below.

He’s a Winston jock holder who now wants to play bad cop. So what? It’s not like Warner is ever right. He was a success story who went from grocery bagger to super bowl QB but that doesn’t make his opinion any better than Joe’s or mine. Evans and Godwin will repeat those pro bowls numbers this season. They may not be #1 but you can bet they will be the contributing factor why we make the playoffs.

    Go Bucs!

  2. Swampbuc Says:

Good. The fewer accolades the better.

  3. Jean Lafitte Says:

let me add ..and the reason they may not repeat those numbers is because Brady opens the game up and likes to spread the ball around. There’s a lot of skill players to feed with a limited amount of targets per game.

  4. Anonymous Says:

Lamb and Hopkins?? Their not on the same team…

  5. Kalind Says:

Aren’t Hopkins and Lamb on different teams?

  6. StonedBuc Says:

Larry Fitz is on the all decade team…. Ceedeez nutz is a green rookie with Oklahoma coaches..

  7. Bucsfanman Says:

Start winning and opinions will change. Let them underestimate.

  8. AJ Says:

You want Diva wide receivers, then Godwin and Evans are not your guys. You want guys that look cool with all the one hand catches in warm ups, then Godwin and Evans are not your guys.

But if you want ballers, team players, guys that actually can throw a block downfield. Guys that don’t cry and whine. Then give me Godwin and Evans over any of those duos all the time please.

There’s a lot of new ‘pieces’ to this puzzle and no-one can say how it will play out yet. I just hope we get to see the big picture in a few months.

  10. Mike Says:

    Well said AJ

  11. bojim Says:

Reason? Because Bucs. Hope we have a season and then they can take another vote.

…. i am shocked,OBJ and Landry lmao gtfo

Bring on the “dissers” and negative nellies. I do not believe our guys need ANY motivation other than the personal drive to be the best that they all seem to possess. That’s enough. They really, really want to be the best.

But having a lot of doubters braying in the background doesn’t hurt motivation that’s for sure. Just a little more satisfaction to make folks eat their doubt and negativity.

  14. Buczilla Says:

These guys are entitled to their opinions even if they are silly and seriously off base. Mike Evans is the best receiver on the planet, period. Julio is overrated, doesn’t score a lot of touchdowns and averages less than Mike, but at least deserves to be in the conversation. Beckman can’t get his head out of his butt and Hopkins is a Pinto to Mike’s Ferrari. I’d take Godwin in a heartbeat over all three of those dudes.

  15. 541BucsFan Says:

Evans is a big, reliable target who can get open and make the catch. His reliability is a huge plus. ME is definitely a top 5 WR. That said, Hopkins and OBJ are a threat to score on any play. A 5 yard route can turn into an 70 yard TD. Evans can’t do that.

  16. David Says:

    Bucs duo is first.
Landry and OBJ could be if OBJ returns to form.

But I assume they are going by last.

  17. SB Says:

all I can say is IDIOTS, THE LOT OF THEM.

They led the league in receiving yards with a now backup (third string?) QB throwing to them that threw 30 picks, and there is a better pair out there?

    DUMB@SSERY ABOUNDS!!

  18. SB Says:

    @541BucsFan Says:

I respectfully disagree sir. When Evans is hit in stride with the ball in front of him (which rarely happened) He is just as dangerous.

  19. unbelievable Says:

    Let them keep disrespecting us!

More chips on shoulders can only be a positive, versus everyone saying we’re Super Bowl bound.
