“Maybe I Am Seeing Something Different”

May 23rd, 2020

Review of Tom Brady’s arm.

So earlier this week when the paparazzi caught a handful of Bucs working out, Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin was among them.

And if park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has lost something off his fastball, Godwin sure hasn’t seen it.

Wide receivers love to go deep, love catching the long passes and turning those into six points. And in his first year with Bucco Bruce Arians calling the shots (in theory) and Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, firing the ball, Godwin had his best season and was named to the Pro Bowl.

Godwin sure doesn’t sense there will be any dropoff in going long with Brady after working out with him.

In a recent edition of FS1’s “FOX Football Now,” Godwin was a guest with co-hosts Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson and closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager.

Godwin was peppered with questions about Brady, of course, and he’s fully stoked about this season.

“People talk about how his arm is dead,” Godwin said of analysis of Brady’s arm from last year. “Maybe I am seeing something different. But I am excited about the season, let’s just say that. I am excited about the season. I think you can tell he’s excited.”

Right now the Bucs either would have been in the middle of OTAs or getting ready for June minicamp. Of course, all that has been wiped out thanks to The Sickness. So workouts at a high school field will have to do for now, Godwin said.

“It’s tough without a defense,” Godwin said. “If all we can do is routes against air, I will take it.”

Godwin discussed how he learned of Brady coming to Tampa Bay and admitted he is going to be a complete pest with Brady, as Joe wrote earlier in detail.

Godwin was visiting South Africa when The Sickness hit, he said, and he barely got out. Heheard rumors of Brady coming to the Bucs but not only dismissed them as too wild to believe, he was preoccupied with not getting trapped overseas in the middle of a plague.

“A couple of days later, it hits: This is unreal,” Godwin said. “I get to catch passes from the GOAT?

“I am a student of the game. If I don’t pick his brain as much as possible the next couple of years, I am doing myself a disservice.”

Thanks for providing the link Joe. That was sweet. Chris is not the only one who can’t wait for the season to start. The entire Tampa Bay area and Buc’s fans everywhere are more excited than they’ve been in a very, very long time (remember the 2003 Super Bowl).

  2. Casual Observer Says:

    PSL – Well said.

  3. Buccan8 Says:

Probably favorite part is how he is going to pick Brady’s brain “the next two years,” even going into a contract year himself. CG14 wants to be nowhere but here. I love this kid.

  4. DaBux Says:

Man, can the damned season start like tomorrow.

  5. unbelievable Says:

Had no idea Erin Andrews was from the Tampa area. Her and Charissa still looking fine as ever!

Man I am pumped to see this offense take the field! Just wish they could get some real team practices going. A lot to do before the season opener!

  6. PhillyBuc Says:

Pumped for this season. Godwin’s such a beast and a class act

  7. Jason Says:

I have this weird feeling that Godwin ends up leading the league in yards after catch. Just sayin.

  8. Youngbucs Says:

    🔥🔥🔥

  9. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Godwin is great.

    Erin Andrews is a hag.

I’ll take Kay A any day!

  10. JonJohn Says:

My god Charissa is soooooo fine

  11. Roy T. Buford Says:

I remember a few years ago Brady said he’ll “retire when I start to suck.” That resonated with me. No one had any idea he’d ever NOT be a Patriot.

And here we are. For the receivers having Brady, it’s going to e like Christmas for a 5 year old. And for Brady, this is going to be like Christmas for a 5 year old with his receivers. And for the Defense, it’s going to be the same. There will be so many fewer short field D situations because Brady is not going to turn the ball over like the guy before him did. Going to be good! No, going to be great!

  12. adam from ny Says:

    can anyone say:

    #PotentOffense

  13. adam from ny Says:

this offense is gonna possibly need a nickname…

    like:

    #TheViagraBoys

because this offense will fugg you…

    #TheViagraBoys #FuggingDefensesSinceWeekOne

not sure if this is politically correct, but we will def need a nickname for this potent squad – once they start lighting sheet up

  14. adam from ny Says:

the ladies are definitely getting their beauty sleep these days

  15. Craig Says:

How can the Bucs not give this guy 18 mil?

He is a star and can still see stars in his eyes. All of those who reached for Antonio Brown last year can see Godwin and weep.

Maybe Evans will feel equally lifted this year. If so it will be grand.

  16. Blackmagic00 Says:

I looooooovvvvve this! And so happy he mentioned Howard and Brate! People seem to get lost in the fact that we already had one of the better yet unused TE groups in the league. This recieving core has the potential to be the goat and has Tom freaking Brady throwing to them! Go Bucs!

  17. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

With revenue taking a hit this year, the cap is going to be affected next year. Litch and the rest of the GMs most likely will wait and see what happens before committing to long-term contracts. Bad time for Godwin.

  18. gp Says:

The NFL has not yet taken a financial hit. The possibility of empty stadiums is still hanging out there but is *reportedly* a small part of their income. I suspect that, after a historic suspension of all athletic activities, the public will be incredibly hungry for *any* athletic entertainment.
The NFL may be looking at a banner year, profit wise, even with empty stadiums. The local municipalities won’t like it though.

  19. Razor Ramone Says:

Erin is from Pinellas county, I think she went to Clearwater High. Her Dad is Steve Andrews local TV reporter.

  20. Erick Says:

    Erin went to Bloomingdale High

  21. Jeagan1999 Says:

Wish football was starting right now! Can’t wait to see these guys in action!

  22. Phil Says:

Why haven’t I received my Chris Goodwin Jersey. Have they not made the new jerseys yet? Also why can’t we sign Devonta Freeman. He is just what we need.

  23. Rick Says:

I am extremely excited for the team and entire organization this year. A little back story on Erin, I was fortunate enough to have spent 5 seasons with the team serving as internal security from 2012 through the 2016 season. It was definitely difficult to leave the organization but a move to Colorado became necessary. Anywho the first game of 2013 was an away matchup vs. the Jets in NY. Erin was at the game and I had a very brief introduction to her before it started, she was extremely nice and down to earth. It was at least a month later, I think it was when the Eagles came out for a home game. Erin was there to cover it, and she actually remembered me (I was nobody important or high up in the organization so I did not anticipate this at all) and went out of her way to come say hello to me underneath the stadium where I was posted up to watch the owner’s entrance. Very warm and engaging personality she has and I would have been able to pick up If it was fake.
