A New Normal

May 8th, 2020

A former NFL quarterback of seven seasons, Danny Kanell made heck of a point about Tampa Bay’s 2020 schedule last night on CBS.

In Week 5 through Week 11, the Bucs will play five night games, their slate of prime time games packaged neatly into seven weeks.

This is ideal, Kanell explained, because night games are typically disruptive to players’ routines and schedules. You wait all day to play on game day and the week’s mentality is changed. But with this schedule, Kanell said, the Bucs will be able to let some of those night games feel normal because new routines will be established.

Kanell thinks this could help the Bucs, especially in the second and third consecutive night games — Week 8 at the Giants and Week 9 hosting New Orleans.

It makes sense, establishing a new normal for a team very unfamiliar with the spotlight and the schedule of a nationally relevant NFL franchise.

Ive got only one game circled on the schedule this year

Yup. You guessed it . Saints at bucs
And Who cares about the game …i just want to stare at jameis close up on the sidelines.

    Just play football.

It’s hilarious how dramatically better our schedule looks because we signed one player.

Typical year we would face like nothing but top opponents for the first slate of games and then have an early bye so that we feel like the year is over by week 6-7 lol.

Can’t wait for them to beat the snot out of the Packers and their cocky QB, also the saints have been talking too much trash in recent years.
    Unleash the piranhas .

    Jameis is BALLIN’ this offseason.

    Check yo’ SHEET!

He’s continued his elite practice schedule of looking in the mirror and saying, “I just gotta get better. I just gotta get better.”

    The dude’s work ethic is…BALLIN’!!!

Point taken…”The Brady Influence” looms large.

I wonder if guilt had anything to add to it. The Bucs were totally hosed last year including a “Home” game in London against a division rival.

I think in the future all international games held during the actual season like these past few London games should be between teams from opposite Conferences so as to have the least effect on playoff races and especially no divisional rivalries.

I can’t help but think NFL matched both Bucs/Saints games early to give best chance of seeing Brady & Brees face off. Although both QBs have been very durable throughout their careers, stands to reason odds are against both making it through a full season. Rules trending towards protecting QBs has surely aided both playing so long.

Plus the bye week is shortly after that stretch too. They will have time, if needed, to readjust to the regular 1:00 games to close out the season.

This schedule just incredible for the Bucs, such a refreshing change of pace.

    – They get their most important road game, @NO, out of the way week 1 where the Saints start slow.

    – 12 of the 16 games are either in Tampa weather or a dome. The 4 outdoor road games are good matchups as well and also before December, which is nice.

    – late season bye week to be ready for a late season

Too Much over analysis of schedules

So funny how it’s only the trolls who continue to talk about Jameis. He plays for another team, you can move on now. You’re all undercover Jameis fans, its ok to admit it.

I agree, familiarity is key to conformity. multiple night games in succession will be advantage Buc’s. It’s that 1 night game per season that throws a team off rhythm.

The Bucs defense better absolutely kick Daniel Jones’ ass.
