Here Bucs fans thought by running Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston out of town, they would no longer have to worry about their starting quarterback running afoul of local officials.
Well, the Bucs haven’t yet played a game, much less practiced, with new starting quarterback Tom Brady, and he already has crossed a line.
Nevermind it is a ridiculous line.
Tampa mayor Jane Castor, in some sort of video conference earlier today with St. Petersburg mayor Rick Kriseman, admitted she has her staff chasing folks out of closed public parks — parks the good people of Tampa paid for.
Among the things park goons are looking out for, Castor mentioned, is people participating in “contact sports.”
And recently (Castor wasn’t clear when) a Tampa parks employee confronted a guy who was working out in a park, minding his own business while taking advantage of the wonderful Tampa spring weather.
The guy who got run out of the park? Bucs starting quarterback Tom Brady.
If the parks employee had any common sense, he would have profusely apologized and offered to fetch cold water for Brady — and wax his car. Castor wasn’t clear when this confrontation took place or if Brady was run off like a common ne’er-do-well.
Castor has closed city parks in her effort to battle The Sickness.
Joe isn’t sure how one guy working out by himself could be considered a “contact sport.”
Yes, yes, yes. This is all in the name of “social distancing” to fight “The Sickness.” Disgraced former Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith should be working a side gig teaching seminars on this.
Use some common sense people! If one guy is by himself, let him be. You cannot tell Joe there are not more important things for city employees to worry about than hassling the greatest quarterback of this century as he tries to lead the city’s most valuable asset out of its too-long playoff drought.

This is awesome. It will only play well for Brady and the Bucs. Too many people in leadership can’t lead and enforce a one size fits all policy. Judgment and treating people differently leaves an idiot vulnerable. Much like the Michigan governor.

Bucs14, it’s well known the Glazers are Trump supporters, hence the joke. And it’s a brutally sad commentary one can’t even mention a president without being seen as some sort of political & biased ogre. It was a harmless joke.
That said, not sure what the point of Castor putting this news out there was. It’s embarrassing for everyone and now everybody knows Tom works out at that park.

You’re exactly right! Given the fact that RL got lung cancer after dissing science leads to the exact conclusion that we should always trust science! Anyone who calls that a false analogy is probably a redneck! Trust in the way scientific papers are reviewed because, hey!, that’s fair, right? I know I for one have learned my lesson and will always trust science from now on. Why would they lie? They’re above reproach. I read a fact checker website! Probably we should trust politicians too! These local govt officials are a joke. The reality is they know nothing. Being outside is the best thing any of us can do. At some point we have to get back to living life. Life comes with risks. If you are up for it get outside. I personally wont go to a grocery store but I will be outside all I want. Its all about flattening the curve which has been done now they want to lock us down indefinitely? Please How do we recall a mayor. The reality is this virus is everywhere already and its a matter of when people are exposed. They dont even know how many people have caught the virus which means this mortality rate is way lower than they are telling us. Rules are rules, Joe(s). I miss the parks being open, too, but I’m being a responsible citizen and following city/county/state/federal guidelines. I understand Tom Brady is an extremely wealthy, extremely famous man, but why should that mean the rules/laws don’t apply to him? The wealthy should have to follow the same rules/laws/guidelines as The Poors. Period.

Doesn’t surprise me though. The town I work in is just crazy. A film crew was shooting a movie before everything was shutdown so they allowed them to finish and stay at the hotel they had been staying in. The hotel employees got death threats because those people where staying there. Nothing says classy like a death threats.

I agree completely! Sure, closing pavilions and campgrounds makes some sense since its hard to do social-distancing there. But boat ramps are open! Its IMPOSSIBLE to do social-distancing on a BOAT! Hiking on a trail in the middle of a forest – too risky. Cramming 6-8 people on a fishing boat – you’re golden. Its completely arbitrary.
