Defining An All-In Move

April 23rd, 2020

The Bucs say they’re all-in for 2020.

Their 2020 moves say they’re all-in.

Fans are all-in after a generation of misery.

But what draft move tonight would define all-in?

It’s a fantastic question and NFL.com film guru Lance Zierlein has an answer. For years, Zierlein scouts every player at the NFL Scouting Combine for the league website. His dad is longtime NFL assistant coach Larry Zierlein, who worked many years for Bucco Bruce Arians in Pittsburgh and Arizona.

In his final mock-draft for NFL.com, the younger Zierlein says the run on wide receivers will happen after the Big-4 tackles are off the board.

He says that starts at No. 12 with the Raiders and ends with the Bucs at No. 14.

Pick No. 12 – CeeDee Lamb – WR – Raiders

The Raiders miss out on CJ Henderson, but add immediate help on offense with an inside/outside target who boasts exceptional ball skills.

Pick No. 13 – Henry Ruggs III – WR – 49ers

If someone doesn’t beat the 49ers to this Alabama speedster, John Lynch and Co. should scream “RUGGS!!” in the video chat as quickly as possible. Mr. 4.27 would fully unleash Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Pick No. 14 – Jerry Jeudy – WR – Buccaneers

If you are going all-in, go all-in! Jeudy adds more potential nightmare fuel to the Bucs’ offense and gives them options if they want to allow Chris Godwin to walk next year.

Juedy is known for his truly elite route-running. Joe would be excited if this is the pick, but there’s still only one football to go around and the Bucs averaged nearly 29 points a game last season and ranked third in offense.

Trenches, please.

I think the Buc’s like more than the 1st 4 tackles. I would not be surprised if the 1st 4 are all gone that they take one of the other guys. Buc’s brass talked about how some of those O line competed very well in the Allstar games.

Jeudy with a 9 on the Wonderlic test.

  2. ©MadMax Says:

    Trade up!

Simmons/Brown/Okudah….one will be there at #8….Simmons hopefully.

Thats going all in. Keep the other team from scoring!

  3. JP09 Says:

Our offense would be unstoppable if they add Juedy. Brady will throw for 50+ TDS if this happens

I’d take the 5th tackle first, and RB second. If you pick a WR, we have to get a tackle in the second and we get a mop up RB in the 3rd. Then we have to listen to all the crying about not having a running game. This is truly silly season. People lose all sense of reality and understanding of the game.

Picking a WR make us the Lions of old picking a 1st round WR every draft. what did it get them?

  5. ©MadMax Says:

Dang a 9? Thats barely literate!

  6. Joe in Michigan Says:

Um…Why would anyone want Chris Godwin to walk? Not only is he a great player, but also a team player.

  7. Alanbucsfan Says:

Gronk, Evans, Godwin- 3 all pros at receiver- that’s enough
This draft is about Defense and Running game

  8. Rayjay1122 Says:

We can also trade our #1 next year to move up and get more blue chip talent. Our pick next year will be the 32nd anyways. Bwahaha

  9. SOEbuc Says:

All in for a WR on this team??? Laughing. I said before BA doesn’t run a two TE scheme and if they wanted to get a WR in the first round, especially to trade up for the best, Cameron Brate would be hot on the block or already gone, especially since we just signed Gronk.

  10. JimmyJack Says:

The thought of drafting a WR physically makes me feel bad. The sheer relief I will have if we draft any other position actually makes it fun.

  11. firethecannons Says:

Most important, do not waste draft capital trading up unless it is with OJ#80
trade down or take Ruggs–remember Sean Sullivan’s mock draft
maybe ok to trade up a couple for Wills the tackle but he will be gone way before 14.

I feel like I am a week behind the conversation on the replies as I am permanently moderated. I guess I get to reap what I sow.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

“Trenches, please?” OK Joe, you snuck that in there, but you didn’t unpack it. Are we to take that to mean that you’re onboard with drafting either an OLineman or a DLineman?

  14. DoooshLaRue Says:

I have a big problem with him suggesting we might let CG14 walk.
That ain’t gonna happen. I could see ME13 moving on before Godwin.

  15. Buc Fan Says:

    Is this a joke?

  16. Pewter Power Says:

Yea let’s have 3 number 1 receivers and 2 number one tight ends for a 43 year old quarterback who is in desperate need of a pass catching receiver as well. Why is everyone saying draft a receiver are we really gonna make a 43 yr old quarterback throw it 60 times a game?

  17. Dewey Selmon Says:

They can score without JJ. 4th and goal from the 1 he wouldn’t be in there, our new RT would be. Joe is right, trenches, might not be sexy but after Brady and Gronk I need a cigarette.

  18. BucsFan81 Says:

Screw that I love Godwin and he gets better every year. Resign Godwin because you know how great he will and can be. We need a solid RT and a RB and hell a solid Safety would help also. Plus you can never have enough Dline. We have enough WR don’t sleep on Scotty Miller dude was starting to hit his stride at the end of the season.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Let Godwin walk?…..I’d rather trade Evans for a #1 pick……

All in is giving up next year’s first…….for better picks this year

  20. Leighroy Says:

Defense rules: I think Joe left it ambiguous for a reason. The answer to your question is either/or.

And echoing others on Z’s comment, whoever lets Godwin walk deserves to walk the plank themselves.

  21. Adrnagy Says:

    Lol

  22. JameisAlmighty! Says:

Draft another wide receiver so when they don’t play this season and resign Jameis after selling Gronk and Brady jerseys…

  23. Doug Says:

    Trade up for Simmons!

  24. Jeagan1999 Says:

OT, RB are the priorities. Sure, add a slot receiver in the 3rd or 4th round….I like KJ Hill from OSU. But I just don’t see the need for another pass catcher at 14….not with Evans, Godwin, Gronk, Brate, Howard already in the roster.

  25. WhatTheBuc Says:

I think if this scenario played out we would trade back one spot with Denver. Denver would give us a pick in order to prevent us from letting Miami, Philly, or Greenbay trade in front of them.

  26. Marine Buc Says:

    Wide receiver.

  27. SOEbuc Says:

    DooshlaRue

They’ve already got a Godwin deal put together. And Mike is going no where anytime soon thank goodness.

  28. BucEmUp Says:

    Id rather have Juedy

  29. stpetebucsfan Says:

Whose touches does he get? ME13’s? CG14’s? Gronk’s? Brate’s? The new running back who will catch out of the backfield?

ANY player selected in the top half of the first round should be an IMPACT player!!! How is any WR going to make an IMPACT on this team? What guy selected in the top half of the first round is going to patiently wait for his turn, his touches?

I DO NOT GET THIS AT ALL!!!

  30. BucEmUp Says:

    I meant Ruggs

  31. CalBucsFan Says:

I’m okay with the pick, but NO WAY should the Bucs consider letting Godwin go next year, they MUST give him a contract!
