Antoine Winfield Highlights

April 24th, 2020

New Bucs safety Antoine Winfield, Jr.

The most glaring hole on the defense for the Bucs is at safety. Perhaps that is no longer a hole.

In the second round, the Bucs drafted Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. The Gophers sort of flew under the radar this year but had a quality season, their best in years, capped with a win over Auburn in the Outback Bowl this past January (remember real games?).

The Gophers had a pretty solid defense for coach P.J. Fleck, the former Bucs wide receivers coach. And a big reason for that was Winfield.

Enjoy the highlights.

How many DBs can a team take?? Every year they take multiple dbs just pick up vet db. There was better options available in my opinion

Terrible pick!!! Two top RB’s on the board, Akers, Dobbins and consensus thought is we need a F*ckin running game. I Quit turn off the TV go to bed and cuss all night. All we needed was a RB. Don’t look for another chance. this draft is over

You can tell what fans are snowflakes

  16. Bucced up Says:

He is good at a blitzer but not that great in coverage, might be good at kick return. I like they were going for a need but they could have waited on him.

  17. Matt Says:

Highlights suggest a real fan favourite guy. He comes in at a position of need and should be an immediate starter. Looks like good value. Special teams get a boost too.

I’d have preferred a new RB1 or pass rusher to develop, or even a trade down to stack up a few picks later tonight.

Like the player, not sure of the pick.

This will turn out to be a great pick I think. Guy has a good football pedigree and has really worked hard to get the next level. He’s a gamer and I’m pleased the safety position is finally set. Remember we have no cap at this point to sign free agents and if we depending on rookies at the backend of the defense Winfield will do good for this ride. We now have Adams, Edwards, Whitehead, and Winfield so the Safety position will be exciting to see come camp and who wins the right to start. Plus whoever doesn’t start will fill in great on special teams.

Anyone who thinks this was a bad pick hasn’t watched tape, this dude is a true ballhawk, great speed. The one foot injury would be only concern, but as long as that doesn’t become a cronic problem then great pick.

Many Bucs fans don’t know football. Fall in love too deep with popular names and not the value. Crazy how many people frown on this pick. This was a steal and much needed position. We’ll get McFarland Jr or another good RB which is pretty deep. Go BUCS!!

I look at the bucs last five drafts and then I look at a team like the Rams last 5 drafts. They’ve been able to DRAFT multiple superstars. The bucs have to overpay for past their prime guys to try and put butts in the seat. Point is this pick should have been cam Akers. I’ve got to do more research on this guy but imo I think Licht blew it.
