JPP Stays Home

March 16th, 2020

Gets paid by Bucs.

Jason Pierre-Paul is at home at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

He played his college ball there and the last two years he played his NFL ball there. Well, add two more years after JPP had 21 sacks in his past 26 games since arriving to the Bucs in trade with the Giants in 2018.

A key to keeping the defense intact has been reeled in. JPP, per Adam Schefter of BSPN, inked a two-year pact at a cost of $27 million.

JPP on a multiyear deal and Shaq Barrett with a franchise tag. That’s a great start to free agency for the Bucs.

Now, the next order of business? Ndamukong Suh.

You can see JPP announce his signing on his Instagram account that was just posted right about the time Schefter broke the news.

High Five!!! Oh wait he can’t do that

Get that dude a driver and the pressure in Qbs will be great

  21. Tbbucs3 Says:

Great now let’s not just assume the DBs are going to be good next year cause they played decent in the latter half of the season so Licht needs to sign a DB ASAP.

  22. SteveK Says:

Such a baller. He’s a freak athlete with just as much of a mental edge and motivation out there. Love this guy. Glad he’s a Buc.

Brady has to like this move.

  23. tmaxcon Says:

look at all the little fanboys rejoicing over a part time player 1 dumbarse choice from kicking them in the nuts again… bucfan is so adorable….

  24. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    Good job, Gumpster!

I thought tagging Shaq and signing JPP would be the correct moves to keep the defense intact.

Now, we need to sit back and see just how the QB musical chairs works out.

Unless, someone like the Chargers offer Jameis $35M, I believe Jameis may come back with his tail between his legs and be willing to sign a long term contract for about $25M per year.

  25. Juggernautical Says:

Great deal especially when he did the team a solid with his contract last year giving us cap space

  26. NPRSageBoy. Says:

All we need now is JayMiss

    NOT!

    Peace, out

  27. bucsfan951 Says:

can we confirm if the contract comes with a full time personal driver and pyrotechnics crew during the week of 4th of july?

  28. Silent_Partner Says:

Winston then Suh next. I’ll put my darkhorse Super Bowl pick in for Tampa then.

  29. rrsrq Says:

That’s a lot of loot on the for the front 7 and the the front 5, we gonna end up with Blaine Gabbert

  30. allhailJPP Says:

That right mofo’s! so far so good

  31. TampaTown Says:

    Silent:
Put me in for $100. Just like my Bucs SuperBowl bet in August 2002.

  32. tmaxcon Says:

the hypocrisy from the choirboy police is laughable…. thank you for the entertainment.

  33. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

Awesome!!! Way To Go!!! JPP Welcome Back

  34. SteveK Says:

    Tmaxcon,

JPP is a baller. He called out weak minded teammates in the locker room last year. He has 20 sacks in his last 24 games (2 years). I hope he can stay healthy bc he’s special when he’s out there.

  35. Pa Privateer Says:

    How much guaranteed?

  36. Tampabuscsbro Says:

isn’t the T M dude the one who didn’t care if a player beat up women in the past?

  37. bobbo Says:

This guy will be a defensive captain

  38. firethecannons Says:

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good news! now is NOT the the time to let JPP walk! It will pay off–well done BA and jl

  39. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

Suh seems like a dirty player, I’d let him walk. Yay JPP!!!

I kinda wonder if he demanded no Winston….

  40. Joe in Michigan Says:

    Great news!!!!

  41. tmaxcon Says:

    bobbo Says:
    March 16th, 2020 at 3:42 pm

This guy will be a defensive captain

missing half a season and refusing to attend voluntary workouts screams leadership and outstanding captain qualities. do you people think before typing.

  42. tmaxcon Says:

funny how butt hurt you people get when some one legitimately questions jpp bad choices and leadership ability but you can trash winston nonstop mostly feeling based not fact based without recourse. love it… bucfan is truly the most laughable fan on earth… thank you for the entertainment from the bottom of my heart…

  43. Ricky Says:

Is Winston signed by anybody yet? I hope he get signed from
Smbdy else so we are sure he won’t come back.

  44. WhyIHateOurFans4TheMostPart Says:

He’s overpaid, should’ve been 10-12 mil a year tops. Resign Suh and I still would draft edge in first round.

  45. Go Bucs 72 Says:

    Hell Yes!

  46. SC Bucs Fan Says:

He was as good as gone when he made his cryptic instagram post… said so many here.

  47. MTM Says:

Smart move. Lock up JPP so the defensive intensity is kept in tact.

  48. TheRealDrew Says:

I like bringing Shaq and JPP back, but I think we only have about $45 million left in cap space. Brady would eat most of that up

  49. passthebuc Says:

Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says: You would not pay JW 30/35 mil per year because he is not a franchise QB? so you would bring him back as a 2nd tier QB at 25 mpy, something is lost in the translation.

  50. Ndog Says:

This is great news but really none of this matter if we have a retirement plan QB or Mr. Glass playing QB next year.

But like I said the other day no matter what they do it is clear as can be that we are going to be straight garbage in 2-3 years. Think about it.

    Arians = Gone
Brady = Gone or Bridgewater = Broken
    JPP = Retired
Suh (if he resigns) = Retired
    Jensen = Retired
    LVD = Retired
Evans = Basically done with his elite years
    Smith = Probably gone

Yeah that looks really promising. No coach, no QB no dline.

  51. Admiral Redbeard Says:

Tmaxipad, you know so little about football it is not even laughable. It’s downright sad. I would tell you to go be a fan of another team, but I wouldn’t wish your pathetically ignorant nonsense on anybody. Maybe you just come on here to push buttons, I don’t know, but I’m sick of it. You should should learn about what you’re talking about (football) before opening your stupid mouth, because your statements make you sound like a first class, front seat on the short bus, window licker.

  52. DBS Says:

Looks like it’s a contest to see which one can cry the most today.

  53. unbelievable Says:

    Love it!

    Good job Bucs

  54. passthebuc Says:

The cost of JPP and Shaq would eliminate the possibility of Brady. If Suh costs 10M, you have about 35M left. They cannot afford Brady or JW. Looks like the first-round draft pick might be a QB.

  55. Silent_Partner Says:

    WhyIHateOurFans4TheMostPart ,

So you would have signed him for 10 or 12 mil, but he signed for 13.5, and that’s a deal breaker. This is why people (correctly) think Buc fans aren’t the brightest fan base.

  56. Bucsfanman Says:

tmax- I think most, like me, are just happy to have some competent football players on the DL for a change. I would encourage JPP on behalf of his previous choices to lock himself in a bubble to keep from injuring another appendage or neck.
    It’s a good move!

  57. DBS Says:

Unless you know how and what you are doing with the contracts and personnel.

  58. Admiral Redbeard Says:

Ndog, you build a team for a season, then you take it game by game, never looking past the next game. You build your future through the draft, and develop players for that future. That’s what the Patriots do, and look how many championships they have over the last twenty years, and look where there draft position always is. Although we do have a couple of players that are up there in age, there is no group as a whole that is old on this team.

hope you feel better little man…. i give you points for passion and spelling!!!!!

hating on me is fun but does not change the fact jpp is a part time player and a full time dumbarse.

i know enough to know that when you have a 16 game season and you play less than half because of a bad choice you let your team down, the fans down and are unreliable…. you stand no chance defending jpp he is one of the dumbest men on earth. he has flushed millions down the toilet acting the fool….

  60. BrianBucs Says:

    YES!!!!!

  61. tmaxcon Says:

    stevek

did jpp miss half the season and did he refuse to workout with the team??? it’s a yes or no question… thank you…. enough said!

Bro did you just type that the Patriots build game to game when they have had the same Coach and QB together for the last 20 YEARS??

That is literally what I am talking about we will dont know who our coach is going to be, we dont who are QB is going to be and we dont who is going to rushing the QB.

  63. Patrickbucs Says:

    @Admiral

    Posts r on fire!

  64. WhyIHateOurFans Says:

Silent, there is a thing called a hard cap that we have to deal with. Every dollar matters and why pay an injury prone 31 year old pass rusher 13.5 when you could pay a younger one 15-16? It’s called being smart with your investment and not emotional like you. You should just remain, you know, silent.

  65. tmaxcon Says:

    seamen redbeard

short term thinking is why you call motel 6 and dinner at golden corral a 5 star weekend getaway!!!!!!

  66. Isaac haggins Says:

Tmax , Jpp ain’t no McCoy and is actually more your type of player and has never leveraged the things that have happened to him . Just came back and played ball very well !!! Come on T Max Jpp is your type of guy that had a dumb firework moment and a car wreck in a car that will hydroplane like a boat on wet roads !! The man isn’t perfect and is a dam good player !!!

  67. sincethebeginning Says:

GO BUCS!! Keep it rolling!!! Let’s sign Suh baby….

  68. Buccinutz15 Says:

Good signing. He was scheduled to make $15-16m last season before he restructured to $12.5m/voided the last year of the contract after the accident. He’s been one of the few vocal leaders on the Defense since his arrival and is still a freak of nature athletically. Let’s just hope we can squeeze 2 more 10+ sack years out of him.

  69. Clutch Buc Says:

I think his mental awareness and grind shows the other players so much to look forward too. I think people are underestimating his value beyond stats which by the way are actually very fair for the price tag. Already I have seen many players repost from bucs players about jpp resigning. So many in the passed players didn’t do that for. He gives confidence and pushes the others around him and inspires from his comebacks from injury. Just be happy we got him back. Quit whining. Its over and its a positive thing. Bucs fans really need to jump ship if they cant see the light through the darkness.

  70. Adrnagy Says:

It’s good to sign jpp and suh. Older but prove. Players. Leaders.
The problem will be if GM or HC don’t draft dline to learn from them…
Secondary is young but not proven. Good progression. Young LB and NT.

We should be very good and great for the next 10yrs if we hit a home rum in the draft and sign Winston

  71. 813bucboi Says:

    COLTS traded for buckner….

    i pray 9ers dont get kinlaw….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  72. 813bucboi Says:

    teddy still in play…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  73. Admiral Redbeard Says:

Ndog, I’m 52, been a bucs fan since ’76, and have lived in CT my whole life around a whole bunch of Patriot fans. All I hear about is “the Patriot way”. The Patriot way of doing things works. Everytime, EVERYTIME, any other QB has stepped in for Brady the results were the same, they kept on winning, and that’s why they are willing to let Brady walk. If BA can instill his way of doing things and then pass the torch, we keep the defense together now, and keep building for the future, and get a QB who isn’t a turnover machine, we’ll be very competitive for years. That’s how you get to the playoffs. That’s how you get to the SB.

  74. Silent_Partner Says:

    WhyIHateOurFans ,

In negotiations, no one in the world would quibble over $1.5 mil, the second year of the deal surely not even guaranteed. In case you missed it, the CBA introduced a lot more money into the pool. A guy with his production should be making $18 mil. He’s giving you a break. Pass rushers don’t grow on trees, something your franchise woefully knows well from the years between that Dungy defense and the last year or so.

  75. Adrnagy Says:

    You sprung

    813bucboi Says:

    GO BUCS!!!!

  76. tmaxcon Says:

    Isaac haggins

you are one hundred percent correct sir… I’d rather a badarse than a pansy but i have to be able to count on that bad arse 17 games a year now…. i just find it funny jpp’s flaws are not only overlooked but justified yet other players are called on the cross for jay walking.

  77. Patrickbucs Says:

You really have to be a special troll to hate on this deal. Go away

  78. tmaxcon Says:

    Patrickbucs Says:

you have to be special kind of dump not to accept their are risks to signing this guy based on his history…. jpp missing half the season delaying the progress of the defense cost the bucs the playoffs..

  79. 813bucboi Says:

    adrnagy

    you hatin

    GO BUCS!!!!

  80. Admiral Redbeard Says:

tmaxipad, how about I send you a nickel so you can buy yourself a clue? By the way, I hope you didn’t cry yourself to the point of prematurely wetting your diaper before changing time while typing your comeback.

  81. Pit of Misery Says:

    Admiral Redbeard….mic drop!

  82. RustyRhinos Says:

Hey Tmaxcon, “16 game season and you play less than half because of a bad choice you let your team down, the fans down and are unreliable…”

Could you please explain how JPP made a bad choice and let his team down. Are you not yet old enough to drive? And if you are, do you not ever drive in the rain? Because all I heard about his accident was he was driving his car and hydroplaned into a guardrail, how in your mind is that a bad choice? He could have taken a Uber and gotten into a hassle that cost him games too, and then not told the truth to his teammates, his coaches, his team owners, or the fans. Now that would have been a bad choice. So can you please, share your information as to what and how you see that JPP made a bad choice. We know your never afraid to share your opinions and typing skills with the rest of us JBF. Waiting for your response.
    Go BUCS!

  83. fernando diaz Says:

    Guy is a warrior
    Nothing on QB
Brady would have been signed by now LOL

  84. Slugglife Says:

Tmax lives to be the turd in the punch bowl. Every damn time.

  85. Slugglife Says:

Come on with the freaking moderation Joe. JFC!

  86. Brandon Says:

Guys…. free agents from other teams CANNOT sign with other teams yet. It is the legal tampering period. Freaking pay attention. I see just as many stupid comments on the Buc fan Facebook page.

  87. soggy Says:

tmaxcon must hate Jw if he hates jjp for missing games from fireworks and car wreck, seems like that would be the case anyways.

  88. Slugglife Says:

    Tmax! Tmax! Tmax! Tmax!

See Joe? I’m cheering for Tmax now. Is that also frowned upon at this site. I’m cheering on his never ending bovine excrement that falls out of that deuce hole in his face about everything.

    Tmax! Tmax! Tmax! Tmax!

  89. soggy Says:

    correction JPP

  90. NOLES Says:

    Hey Tmax

    I don’t give a damn.. JPP played 8 games w 9.5 sacks that’s more than most get in 16 games… SHUT IT!!!

  91. Old School Athlete Says:

I support this 100% I love what JPP brings to the field. No loafing, no plays off. A real disruption that opposing OC’s have to worry about. The intangibles are even better. He demands a lot of those around him which is a great thing.

    You are approaching T m a x status.

  93. stpetebucsfan Says:

    SB

Hit your hot spot eh? LMAO…I agree with almost everything you post so I’m curious about your reaction.

I stopped reading TMAX early last year. He is the quintessential example of a troll. In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts quarrels or upsets people on the Internet to distract and sow discord by posting inflammatory messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses and normalizing tangential discussion, whether for the troll’s amusement or a specific gain. Paraphrased from Wikipedia’s definition.

So I do not waste my time. I’ve never responded to Ardnagy because…he’s never really posted anything worth responding.

Just sayin’…not suggesting…more comparing notes. LOL

  94. SB Says:

Well SPBF………….I stopped reading Tm a long time ago.
Occasionally on a really specific topic I will read for humor.
Ndog I have stopped reading his stuff on JW sensitive topics.
I have been reading all of Adernagy’s comments since he showed up to my knowledge. He is increasingly becoming a troll

  95. SB Says:

IMO SPBF. Forgot that last part.
Thanks for the confidence as always too!

  96. Tricky Ricky Says:

Great News!!! JPP is arguably one of our top 3 best players, no doubt. Keep the good news coming, next up Suh and finally the icing on the cake TB12. 2020 Bucs will finally be headed at minimum to a deep playoffs run, GO BUCS!!!

  97. MadMax Says:

    Boom!!!!!! Awesome!!! Welcome back JPP!!!!!!

    So glad!!!

  98. adam from ny Says:

yes…you just re-signed the leader of the defense…

jpp is back on the case…ready to snuff dudes out if they get out of line or start dragging their azz…

    #JppIsTheMan

  99. tmaxcon Says:

    stpetebucsfan

It really burns your arse that im always right….

  100. stpetebucsfan Says:

Shaq should sign on JBF and join us all in a Hallelujah!

Now get Suh and Gholston and we’re cooking with gas. Draft a stud RT…a mauling RB to go with ROJO…pick up some safety depth..and our D might be so good it could even survive the ATM.

QB? At this point I’m starting to lose interest…Brady is an entertaining thought but I’ll think about it when it actually happens. In the meantime lets just build such a great team that even an FA QB could manage 10-11 wins and a playoff.

  101. Buczilla Says:

    Thank goodness.

  102. Matt B Says:

The defense got better when he came back. This is good news for sure.
