Bridgewater To The Bears?

March 16th, 2020

A Twitter report today from Paul Crane, who works for Atlanta Falcons Radio Network and in local Atlanta media, is claiming the Bears are negotiating with free agent QB Teddy Bridgewater.

Crane is not an Internet clown.

The QB market is getting more interesting by the minute.

    bears better find a kick arse back up for brittle teddy!

  2. Nick2 Says:

    Damn if we dance the dance with Brady only to lose out on Bridgewater Licht should walk the damn plank. Brady is a pipe dream Bridgewater is reality and can help us right away.

  3. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    Once again the Bucs will screw this up. Winston should tell Arians to pound sand and get the hell away from this franchise.

  4. tmaxcon Says:

    joe so what’s the plan when brady passes and winston deservedly gives this minor league small market franchise the finger… is dalton the best option left

  5. mike Says:

    surprised Winston doesn’t have multiple options yet.

  6. Bucsfan0784 Says:

    Mike I wouldn’t be worried about what happens with or who wants Winston. I’d be more worried about what happens if Bridgewater signs with bears, Brady stays in New England and rivers signs with colts. Rumor is chargers have spoke or speaking with Jameis.

    JW!!!!!….LOL…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  8. Bobby M. Says:

    No mention of Jameis to the bears? That’s funny….that’s the one team I thought he was actually a legit upgrade for.

  9. D-Rome Says:

    I have a feeling this whole thing will blow up in the Bucs’ face like it did with Brett Favre years ago. Then, they’ll end up with Jay-Miss and try to say he’s the guy they wanted all along.

    It’s a Bucs life.

    Meanwhile, funny how there isn’t a team out there looking to sign Jay-Miss as their starter. Both Jay-Miss and Teddy Bridgewater are free agents yet the Bears are trying to lock up Bridgewater.

    Tells you all that you need to know about Jay-Miss.

  10. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

    Do it! Do it! Only good game of Trubiskies career was against the Mike Smith secondary schemed defense!

  11. bucfan999 Says:

    Come On Bears get this done!!! They can have Captain Checkdown I’ll take Jameis or the G.O.A.T. any day over a 5 yard per pass career average any day.

    professional well ran organizations with leadership don’t leak and blab like high school little boys after their first kiss the same way that senile clown BA and his puppet licht do.

  13. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Anyone but Bridewater….High Risk Low Reward. Seems like a decent fit for the Bears tho wish him luck. Just not the Bucs.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

    d-rome

    i agree….

    speaks volumes bears rather have a QB that hasnt been a full time starter in years vs a qb that threw for 5k….

    but i think BA can get solid production outta blaine….not ideal for fans but as long as the Ws come everyone would be happy….

    imo, locker room may split if JW returns….he sure as hell cant claim to be a leader…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  15. Rod Munch Says:

    The last thing the Bucs need is some coward QB who is afraid to throw the ball downfield. In case you pro-Teddy dopes didn’t know this, the Bucs don’t run a dink and dunk offense. Evans and Godwin would be going nuts after the first game when Teddy checked it down to Dare 24 times and the team puts up 12 points.

    Teddy can take his afraid to throw the ball rear end up to Chicago – and steer clear of Tampa. We don’t have the 2002 defense, and we need more than 12.2 points a game to win.

  16. Lee Says:

    Better get Brady.

  17. bucsfan951 Says:

    we probably wont hear where JW will go to until after the better qbs decide on where to go like brady, rivers, teddy and such.

    hate to break it to yall but JW is a second tier qb in this situation.

  18. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    D Rome are Jameis and his agent required to contact you when they speak with another team. Pretty sure Brady has been contacted at this point even though it’s not being reported.

  19. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    Hate to inform u Bucsfan but none of the others are great options. QBs in their 40s and game managers are not franchise QBs. They are band aids or marketing gimmicks.

  20. StonedBuc Says:

    No one wants jameis. 36 turnovers is sickening.

  21. MarineBucsFan Says:

    Bucs clearly going all in on Brady and no one can compete with Bucs offer financially. I think it’s Brady to Bucs or Pats.

  22. bucsfan951 Says:

    TDtampa: you’re right! they aren’t great options but again, they’ll commit somewhere before JW does. i think JW is a second tier option for a lot if not all the teams looking for a qb upgrade.

    rumors of teddy to chicago
    rivers to indy
    brady to NE or TB

    just waiting to hear the JW rumors

  23. Silent_Partner Says:

    Like I said weeks ago, you guys better stop trashing your starting QB. He’ll be back under center for four more years for you, and yes, $30 mil is what you’re going to pay him like every other starting QB in the league. For those using Arians quotes to push your agenda, go take a look at how he talked about Palmer. It was I’d say worse sometimes. That’s part of the gig. He’s going to ride you if you are a player he expects a lot of. Every QB in his system throws picks, a lot of them, in the first year in it. Manning threw 28, two less than Winston, and the media nut huggers think he’s one of the greatest of all times. It’s always been Winston. Brady ain’t coming to Tampa. Phillip Rivers is washed. Who you want, Jacoby Brisett? Andy Dalton who went 1-12 last year as a starter and doesn’t have the body or arm to play in the Arians system? Mitch Trubisky? He could get better, lol. Buc fans are so dumb, I wouldn’t doubt that they might see that as an upgrade, lol.

  24. JJ Says:

    Sign Jameis already!

  25. Sarasota Garey Says:

    Could it be Arians wanted Winston all along?

  26. Pewter power Says:

    Lol let the fan panic begin. When has this team ever done what you wanted them to do? We’ve been debating all offseason I prefer not to see people freaking about over reports for a guy they never said they wanted in the first place. Geez people get a grip

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Jameis isn’t giving any team the finger……..he would take the Bucs job in a minute……feelings only go so far when millions are up for grabs….

    I look at this another way……every time a FA signs with another team, that is a team that Winston will not go to…..and the more likely he stays a Buc.

  28. miken Says:

    Bucs and Jameis will beback (stuck) together again. Bucs can’t find anyone else and Jameis can’t either.

  29. tmaxcon Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

    Playing in Tampa is a disgrace not an honor pal. Jameis has earned his parole from this circus. Jameis will take less to escape the small town bucs and its redneck fanbase. If jameis is back as a buc its only because that pos senile clown ba BA trashed him over and over to the point he was unsinkable elsewhere….. lovie 2.0 with out class thats the ba legacy

  30. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    “Crane is not an Internet clown.”

    Whaaaat???

  31. Rojas Says:

    I have a strong feeling Jameis is going to end up back in Tampa in a 1 yr deal

  32. chargedcbh Says:

    What a bunch of IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!

  33. Silent_Partner Says:

    No, it will be four just like every other starting QB in the league. It will also be for $30 mil a year just like every other starter in the league. Stop spinning yourself into hysteria.

  34. MirrorMirrowOnTheWall Says:

    I hope Jameis is not back in Tampa. The only Buccaneers games I want to watch is Jameis when is killing the Buccaneers playing for another team.

  35. Dave Says:

    Jameis Winston sucks, he is nothing more then a grouper, crab leg stealing thug, no on wants this loser in Tampa as evedent by the 30,000 fans a game, the lack of national tv games and exposure, no one has interest in having a molesting crab leg stealing crotch grabbing, interception buffoon on there team

  36. Silent_Partner Says:

    Sarasota Garey ,

    Ding, ding, ding. I would have been worried about him if he was being overly nice about him in the media because Arians is a players coach. He wouldn’t trash a guy he knew was on the way out because he’d want him to land on his feet. It’s why his players love him. Most of what he has said is picking at the flaws that he knows he can make better. He did it in leaps and bounds in the first year in the system, and the picks come with every QB who has ever played in that system. He wouldn’t let 5000 yards and 33 TDs in a 25 year old walk out of the door, and neither would any competent HC unless you were Bill O’Brien who apparently ships out anyone he doesn’t personally get along with on his team.

  37. SC Bucs Fan Says:

    Hopkins for Johnson? WTF????

  38. Guzzie Says:

    Best case scenario is starting Gabbert, that pretty guarantees Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields next year, then the Bucs can enjoy 15 years of a true franchise QB, but in true Bucs luck, both decide to stay in school

  39. unbelievable Says:

    Hope this is true.

    No thanks to Teddy

  40. Silent_Partner Says:

    Buc fans would welcome that kind of mismanagement.

  41. Big_Buc$ Says:

    Really? The locker room would be divided if Winston returned? thats to funny that is being mentioned. Its crazy how everyone thinks the last two games caused him to be run out of Tampa. Okay he played badly but what other QB would have threw for 400 yards and 4 TD the last two weeks missing their number 1, number 2, and 4th receiver along with a OC and HC that can’t see that a running back with the hot hand running the ball works? I keep saying this if the Offensive and Defensive lines aren’t addressed along with RB, Safety, and all of Special Teams the results will be the same 6 to 9 wins maybe no matter who the QB is folks. Honestly your best options is Jameis in year 2 or you Trade up and Get a young QB but all the above must be addressed in FA and the draft for the QB to have success. Just not sold on a 42 year QB thats only played in one system his entire career and not to mention he leaves a top 5 defense and a solid rushing attack.

  42. Adrnagy Says:

    Dave Says:

    bucs have sucked long before jameis and have not been able to fill the stadium for years. the attendance was much worse when it was just cancer93 and lvd getting blown out at home each week…. your hatred and jealousy of jameis is so cute though…. keep blaming a failed franchises problems for 43 years on a 26 year old savior…. you delusional haters are so laughable and the selective memory ceases to amaze me. bucs were a joke long before jameis and will be long after he is successful elsewhere. now back to the drive thru dave i need my double cheeseburger.

  44. Silent_Partner Says:

    I mean I’ve seen idiots here who think Dalton would be great. Never mind he can’t play in that system and failed to win a single playoff game with an infinitely more stacked Cincy team for two or three years there. I could have argued that the Bengals, yes those hapless Bengals, had the best roster in football for a couple of years there, and they never got out of the first round. Now he’s older and would be paired up with a worse roster. Same with Rivers. When he was actually young, he had inarguably the best roster in football and choked several times to the Patriots and others in the playoffs. Your team had one of the worst pass defenses I’ve ever seen through 3/4 of the season, no running game, and the offensive line Winston makes looks leaps and bounds better than it is, and he put up those numbers in it. Stop trashing your QB and get on board. You got a real coaching staff now finally.

  45. 813bucboi Says:

    not sad at all…..lol…..

    you better wake up and smell the turnovers….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  49. Silent_Partner Says:

    813bucboi Says:,

    No, it speaks volumes that they can pay him $20 mil, which no real starter in the league is taking, and they’re giving him this as basically the plan Phil Sims stupidly floated about signing both Winston and Bridgewater, which ws never going to happen. Chicago is actually in the position to do that and pay a guy with experience less than starter money without having to cut their bust first rounder yet in hopes they can salvage him down the road even though it’s probably not going to happen. That’s basically the franchise tag, and it’s what you do when you have 38 career TDs and 5 starts in four years. Maybe you’ll realize this and stop posting drivel.

  50. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    MirrorMirrowOnTheWall Says:
    “I hope Jameis is not back in Tampa. The only Buccaneers games I want to watch is Jameis when is killing the Buccaneers playing for another team.”

    ~~~~~
    If Jameis is playing for another team, I will be rooting for him to put it on everyone, too. I hope he does fantastic. Might even grab a jersey to wear, if it doesn’t interfere with a BUCS game.
    If he is playing against the BUCS though, I would root for us to win 58-0.
    Just like I do every other game.
    With the sentiment that you expressed here, and in another post, maybe you just never were a BUCS fan, to begin with.
  51. Adrnagy Says:
    I was a Bucs fan way before jameis was born. And will continue to be until I die.
    But now that jameis is a free agent. It’s a free country.
    Although , imo he’s the better option.
    I do believe. Bill and patriots will trade for mike Evans. And sign jameis.
    Leaving Brady and the Bucs hanging.
  52. Defense Rules Says:
    What JBFer doesn’t believe in their heart that Gump will screw this up. You KNOW it’s coming. Gump isn’t a juggler and there are too many moving pieces in this FA puzzle for him to handle. He’ll either screw up the QB situation or the defense situation. You wait, he’ll screw it up.
  53. Silent_Partner Says:
    Elita ,
    And this is all you should have ever been worried about as a Buc fan, that Winston comes back, not that your pitiful team would get rid of him. He has options. The Chargers namely one. Jacksonville another. The Colts another.
  54. gambelero Says:
    They may let everyone walk, go back to being 89%ers (or now 90%ers), roll with Blaine Gabbert or equivalent, start building inside this draft, go 1-15 and pick up the top quarterback (you know a Winston, Mariota, Trubisky type).
    Arians will probably quit, but the Glazers may be looking at him and his huge number of assistants as an expense they can do without. They can bring in Hue Jackson to go 1-15 or maybe recycle Mike Smith or just let Byron Leftwich be both OC and head coach on his current salary.
  55. Jf Says:
    Shoulda tanked for Tua. Broug by Phil in for two years… but nooooo
  56. MTM Says:
    I like Teddy but he is a chandelier and there no point in signing a potential injury prone QB to a large contract only to be stuck once again.
  57. Ndog Says:
    JPP back to the Bucs on a two year deal
  58. Big_Buc$ Says:
    813bucboi
    So who in the locker room would be mad if Winston was back since you know this information? Like I said if the other issues are not addressed the results will be the same no matter who the QB is. Tell you the truth did you watch Brady this year? He looked very much like a 42 year old QB. The whole world claiming get him help and his done more with less all these years and now he needs weapons? I stand by what I say if the above is not fixed one man won’t fix this franchise.
  59. 40 TDs Says:
    JPP is in the house
  60. MarineBucsFan Says:
    JPP is back baby!!!
  61. JimmyJack Says:
    Why did y’all think Bridgewater was a fit I Tampa Bay anyway,? That’s all I’d like to know.
    I never heard a good argument except for some dumb stat about air yards intended or whatever it was that was never a stat before.
    Its almost like y’all never watched Teddy in a real name to realize he is the exact opposite of s QB that Bruce needs to run this offense.
    I’ll never understand and have never heard a good reason. Just done silly air velocity stat or whatever it was.
    Stats don’t overule film. Never will.
  62. Silent_Partner Says:
    Going according to plan. JPP back. Barrett on the tag. Winston about to get the same or probably more than Tannehill.
  63. Silent_Partner Says:
    JimmyJack Says: ,
    Because a lot of Buc fans and especially the media people pushing this absurdity are dumb. The only guy they could have switched him out for currently in the league would have been Matthew Stafford because he’s not old, and he could play in the offense. The other names being put forth, especially the older guys like Rivers and Brady who both couldn’t have played in his system during their prime, were laughable. How you knew Winston was never going anywhere is when Arians said I’d call Brady or Rivers when he was asked what they would do if Winston wasn’t back. It was what we call blustering. If they planned to move on, they would have been on the phone with Detroit, and none of you would have known about it until the deal went down because that’s the kind of QB needed to run this system.
  64. SteveK Says:
    Winston is it getting Tannehill or more. Winston is not the 7th best QB or better, nor he should be compared to one.
    Brady on the other hand would be something else. We would be instant contenders.
  65. Ndog Says:
    SteveK you are so CLUELESS.
    Why do you even want Brady so bad?
    You probably have never even seen him play as your comments have casual know nothing fan written all over them.
  66. SC Bucs Fan Says:
    Ndog I have no desire for Brady… and I can’t see him coming here. But for me committing to JW long term is like saying we are hoping for another 4 years of mediocrity because thats what JW leads this team to. I’d love him to “figure it out” and become responsible with the ball but that isn’t going to happen. WIsh it would.
  67. Silent_Partner Says:
    SteveK ,
    He is getting it because he’s a starter, and he’s signing in 2020. This is how this goes dum dum. It’s not based on your emotional rants of what you think a QB should make. The market drives it, and last I checked, Prescott turned down $35 mil a year. Russell Wilson makes that. Carson Wentz and Jarred Goff signed for that. But keep thinking a QB is signing for basically what the franchise tag is. You will be highly disappointed if you like counting other people’s money.
  68. Silent_Partner Says:
    I’d even go as far as that that’s what the negotiation is. Tampa wants him on the Tannehill deal, and he surely can get more. You’d better hope he takes the Tannehill deal to be nice because that’s the floor for starters signing in 2020, let alone ones with 30+ TDs and 5000 yards.
  69. MTM Says:
    Ndog to somehow think keeping Winston over signing Brady is insanity at its finest. Brady is still a tremendous upgrade over Winston. I would rather risk Brady being injured then watch another year of pick 6’s from America’s turnover machine.
  70. Bobby M. Says:
    Wow….now Bears are reaching out to Jacksonville for Foles. Somebody tell them Winston is available at the bargain rate of $30 million per year.
  71. bucfan999 Says:
    Damn I guess the Bears figured out Captain Checkdown didn’t have the arm strength to throw the ball in Windy Chicago. Please go any where but here but I have a sinking feeling he’s going to end up here and we’ll have trouble scoring more than 10 – 14 points a game next year
  72. Pewter power Says:
    Oily drew rosenhaus should be talking to the bucs or begging any team to talk to winston not going after people who already know he’s not worth Tannehill money a guy who took over and helped lead his team to the playoffs. Imagine that they were going nowhere until the starter got benched. Winston will make backup money not starter money. He probably won’t get teddy payday.
  73. stpetebucsfan Says:
    If the Bears truly wanted JW why did they sign or rather negotiate with Teddy. JW could be had?
  74. Silent_Partner Says:
    bucfan999 ,
    No, they are getting him to put him back in the role he should be in, backup QB. How many times has Foles failed as a full time starter. He’s not up there with Fitz yet, but it’s getting close. This just basically means they’re pulling the plug on Trubisky rightly, and will have a guy they know is a great backup to step in if Bridgewater gets hurt. In the meantime, what I expected, that Jacksonville would either cut or get rid of Foles, leaves that other spot open for the Bucs to compete with to keep Winston along with the Chargers and outside chance with the Colts who I’ve always thought would go for Rivers since this started.
  75. Hethrew 30 Says:
    Nope…reports are the Bears are pursuing Foles or Dalton and for Trubisky to compete for starting job.
    Teddy could still very well be a Buc!
  76. Silent_Partner Says:
    Hethrew ,
    Sure they are. They’ve been talking to Cincy since the off-season started about trading for him. It hasn’t happened fora reason. Trubisky is done. Name the starter first rounder who got benched and came back from that.
  77. Hethrew 30 Says:
    Well they already own Trubisky and clearly he and Dalton could and should push each other. At the very least, Trubisky is a serviceable backup…and then they let him go after he rookie deal is done.
  78. Hethrew 30 Says:
    Teddy leaves CHI without a deal…he could be NE, IND, SD, TB. And if Dalton, Foles, and Flacco…none are FAs, enter the mix, there will be an odd guy out at least. My first druthers are still get Brady in here and draft his replacement. That will fix the business, the football, and the future. Or at least show a plan. Bringing Winston back would be just more waiting, more drama, more empty stadiums.
  79. Silent_Partner Says:
    Hethrew ,
    That’s not how starting QB gigs work in the NFL. I mean he only has one more year on the contract. It’s not like they have anything to lose except pride because they stupidly traded up one pick to get him. Why, I’m still trying to figure that one out because I watch a lot of ACC football, and dude never looked like a franchise QB or even a first rounder. That the 1-31 Cleveland front office had him on top of their board until Hue Jackson basically won a power struggle with them to pick Miles Garrett (the former QB coach mind you), that should have said plenty about him as a prospect. That defense can win a Super Bowl now. I don’t exactly think Dalton is the guy to take you there since Cincy’s roster was actually better a few years back, and he couldn’t even get out of the first round, but Bridgewater and Foles together might work for them with Foles being in the same role he played for injury prone Carson Wentz.
  80. wantstastayabuc Says:
    Weird!
    I thought the Bears would be all over “America’s QB”! Why isn’t the chatter already at 100 million a year for the most pro-ready QB in NFL history? You know, the guy with SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Some day, you’ll see!
  81. soggy Says:
    Thee all knowing Silent_Partner / Ndog why are you wasting time in here with your all knowing everything better than anyone else, get lost and do something with your all knowing selfs, winston sucks get over it..
  82. Silent_Partner Says:
    soggy ,
    Another butthurt ace on the keyboard. I’m here for the chuckles because I’ve been reading your fan base’s drivel all off-season.
  83. DBS Says:
    Just remember. None of these jump on them now QB’s , or this is where they are connected have a deal we have heard of. Rivers, Brady, Teddy, Winston or Dalton. So it really means nothing.
  84. stpetebucsfan Says:
    Blaine Gabbert is not as glamorous as Tannyhill but I’m not sure if 87 was kidding or if BA might be willing to go into the year with Gabbert as his bridge if he has a QB in the draft that he believes will be ready sooner than later.
    Far fetched yeah…but in a a worst case scenario…who knows. Who thought the Titans season would play out as it did.
    No Gabbert is not as talented as JW but he might suffice as a game manager.
    One year in SF he threw for over 2000 yards in 8 games..half a season…63% completion % 10 TDS and 7 ints for a 2.5 int %
    JW’s best year was 4.1% int his average over five years a 4.7% average! That’ roughly 1 out of JW’s every 20 passes getting picked for FIVE years!
    So we draft the RT #1…then perhaps a Q.B. or even R.B. Derrick Henry was a second round pick.
    Bottom line for me is that BA has pleased me by keeping his word or at least making a good start…we now have the principal pieces to a good pass rush in Shaq and JPP…sign Suh…Gholston..mix in Vea and let lightning quick Lb’s LVD and White blitz on occasion and we would have solid pressure.
    I’m ready to win with defense again…and BA has not disappointed me so far.
    I suspect he has some QB’s in mind.
  85. Cobraboy Says:
    I just saw a video on twitter, a compilation of 21 dropped interce[ptions Winston threw last season.
    21. Dropped. Interceptions.
    Add that to 30 that were not dropped.
    https://twitter.com/i/status/1239552419677208582
  86. Silent_Partner Says:
    Bucs had a top three scoring offense. Nobody is letting the trigger man for that walk out the door. Even the clueless national media people some of you gobble up know this. Every QB ever has thrown picks in this offense. The bottom line is does your QB score points, and he did it once he finally got competent coaching. If your defense wasn’t terrible 3/4 of the year, this was a playoff team.
  87. Buczilla Says:
    Better them than us.
