Chucky Grabs Nassib

March 17th, 2020

“Damn right Jason I grabbed your linebacker. And if you aren’t careful, I’ll grab that quarterback you drafted too. Remember, I know your GD agent!”

Carl Nassib is now a Raiders defensive end/outside linebacker.

Seemingly hours after the Bucs signed stud outside linebacker/edge rusher Jason Pierre-Paul, his backup with the Bucs is now high-tailing it to Las Vegas where he will play for Chucky and Rod Marinelli in the desert with the Raiders.

That’s the word from Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune.

So now, unless the Bucs draft an edge rusher early in the draft, it appears Anthony Nelson will take over for Nassib on the depth chart.

Bucs fans can now return to their Tom Brady celebrations on this otherwise coronavirus, pandemic-induced somber St. Patrick’s Day.

Step up to the plate Anthony Nelson. Appreciate Carl Nassib motor. Hope you ball out and make us Bucs proud, heh would we get a compensatory for Carl Nassib loss?

  2. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Really liked Nassib. He is playing backup or as a 3rd DE to the Raider. Would have filled the same role here. To bad, I was hoping we re-signed him. I guess, there is not enough money to keep all three OLB/DEs.

  3. soggy Says:

Chucky take JW, OK, I got no problem with it, Him and mariota can smokem peace pipe..lol

  4. Frankinthe813 Says:

We needed his money for a Melvin Gordon

  5. JimmyJack Says:

Nothing but respect for Nassib. Really glad we had a spot for him.

Love to watch a guy like him get picked up out of the Browns trash pile and fight his way back up. Really glad to see it happen with the Bucs. Good Luck man.
    Appreciate the hard work.

  6. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

Leave our guys alone Chucky! (well, except one)

  7. Matt Says:

Nelson will be a seamless transition. After Brady signs so will Suh and several other vets looking for a ring, we’ll be loaded by the time the season rolls around.

  8. Smashsquatch Says:

Smart move, Nelson is a cheaper younger version of Nassib. Can’t pay everyone….

  9. Boltsfan17 Says:

Nassib was nothing special. Use the money elsewhere.

  10. TOM Says:

Really sorry to see Nassib leave. Wish him nothing but the best with Raiders.

  11. mark2001 Says:

Good guy for us…but you can’t keep everyone.

  12. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Have at it Chunky…that’ll learn the Bucs. Prefer to keep Suh vs Nassib.

  13. Frankinthe813 Says:

Gruden and Winston? He just signed Mariota and Peterman

  14. StRicKn Says:

Already everybody buying season tickets. Let’s go! Bring the hype! Let’s go!!!

  15. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Give it time, Nassib will be a double-digit DE. His number of QB hits was pretty high for a third OLB\DE. Nelson is a younger prototype of Nassib and may end up being better – his numbers at the combine last year were great for his length and height. Like Smashsquatch said, “we can’t pay everyone.”

  16. rrsrq Says:

So the only returning team captain is Mike Evans

  17. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Nassib hustled but he’s a JAG. Get Suh back!

  18. Rod Munch Says:

Gruden is so going to try to talk Winston into signing a cheap contract there…

  19. Diesel Says:

You forgot Ali Marpet and Lavonte David rrsrq?

  20. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

3500 in line (on line Bucs website) to buy season tickets as of 5 minutes ago…lol

  21. Bucs Guy Says:

And you forgot the special teams captain Dare. I wish I could forget him … at least as a RB.

  22. Old School Athlete Says:

Now Jason Witten is a raider too. Wow I did not see that coming.

  23. Hethrew 30 Says:

A loss, a good player, great team mate. But the silver lining is now there it $$ to bring in Brady weapons…Melvin Gordon. Who wouldn’t want to be in the backfield with TB12?

He is down to three most likely teams: MIA, ATL, or TB. Child pleeze, we got Brady. Come on down Mel.

  24. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Sorry to see that. Resign Suh! Get me a QB for Brady to mentor in the draft as well as a RB. Sign one OL in free agency and get me a 3rd WR in the draft. Watch out world. Interceptions will go down quicker than the stock market with Brady at the helm!
Jay Miss threw more interceptions last year than Brady has in four.
Ndog, drive your 1977 rusted out Chevy Nova back off the top of the Skyway. It’s gonna be alright.

  25. Big O Says:

I agree with the first reply Anthony Nelson needs to step up

  26. Zzbuc Says:

Love nassib……. but this makes a lot of sense…… somebody would have lo Go…… Not enough money for all….Best of wishes for Nassib…….Se replqce via draft with JPP as a mentor……. time to invest on the trenches!!!

  27. Defense Rules Says:

Nassib to the Raiders. Crappola! Nelson isn’t one-tenth the player that Carl is. Lest we forget, the Bucs’ defense finished strong last year, but they finished FAR BEHIND New England’s #1 defense. Letting quality DEs like Nassib walk is NOT how you go from #29 to #1.

  28. FairMinded Says:

Nassib was awesome…had to lose somebody but sucks to see him go. Raiders fans probably won’t realize what they just got

  29. Defense Rules Says:

@Scotty in San Antonio … “3500 in line (on line Bucs website) to buy season tickets as of 5 minutes ago…lol”. We’ve seen this act before. I can even tell you how the ride ends.

  30. Wesley Says:

Nassib had an average at best season in 2019, soooo no biggie.

  31. firethecannons Says:

JOE! we are calling for an immediate IRA Podcast on Brady to the Bucs! make it live, ready for it now!

  32. Jean Lafitte Says:

Can you imagine if Gruden does grab Winston and sends Carr packing?

Then Winston goes into Vegas with Mariota as backup, and they go 5-12 in their inaugural season. Gruden and Mayock would probably both get fired.

  33. Big O Says:

Big picture here, Brady will not last long on the field will mentor the rookie that gets drafted looking at Brady being a general manager that will forge A Winning Dynasty.

  34. firethecannons Says:

Now we need a running back, preferrably one that catches passes out of the backfield…Also, FIX THE DEFENSE!!!!

  35. H8JWLUVBUCS Says:

Hey JW u still think u are balling sitting at home with no team calling.

  36. BuccaneerMar Says:

West coast happy ass buck fan over here on virus arrest.. Best news ever.. Since 1976..

  37. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

    We got Brady!!!!!

    Breaking news from NFL network!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Playoffs Baby!!!!!!

  38. Jeagan1999 Says:

I think we are just waiting for Brady to make the official announcement!

From Patriot to Pewter Pirate….Welcome TB12!

  39. MadMax Says:

Good luck Nassib! Class act. Wish we couldve kept him but only so much $$ to go around. I have a feeling TB is going to cost us 100 mill.

  40. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Brady has signed with us!! Finallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

  41. FortMyersDave Says:

Good for Nassib, went from being a cast off high 3rd round bust on the worst franchise in the NFL to having to contend with Mike Smith but managing 6 sacks after Smitty got fired and then had a pedestrian year in 2019. Good luck in Vegas with Chucky who definitely looks like he ate a plate of THC infused brownies in that pic Joe uses of our old ball coach. Is there room under the cap for Suh and can Nelson stay healthy? I guess those issues will go to the back burner as people are now talking about the GOAT, man I just hope he does manage to stay healthy given the state of the OL (if TD Tommy is coming, not confirmed yet officially) and do the Bucs draft an heir apparent on day one or 2 of the draft. Must be tough for JW and his entourage but it only takes one team to take a flyer but the options are dwindling.

BTW thanks for the incredible content Joe, given the extraordinary times we are now experiencing.

  42. Dom>Licht Says:

This team is not a QB away from super bowl … up grade yes Winston sucked. Still have a lot of holes to fill… OL especially Brady does not survive Arians offense unless they REALLY up grade right side of that line OR go to a shorter passing game to gets the ball out faster

  43. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

My husband and I had a bet on where Brady would land. THAT was an easy $50.

  44. DaBux Says:

Good player, BUT I would rather have Chaisson from LSU. Young. Hungry. Entry level contract. And his leadership against Clemson showed me a lot. Pair him opposite of Shaq? Just OMG.

  45. JimmyJack Says:

Nice that the Bucs signed Tom Brady but please Folks, the article is about saying “adieu” to Nassib. Please follow the content of the article. Thankx.

who are you and why are you using my moniker?
I have this name firethecannons all lower case.
    STOP THIS IDENTITY FRAUD!

  47. TB+TB=SB Says:

All the reactions from ESPN/NLFN has me jacked the hell up. Let’s do this!!!

  48. firethecannons Says:

@Joe, I want to apologize for forgetting my comment from 8:10 pm, I was watching the kids (for once) and completely forgot I sent that comment. Thanks.

  49. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

The post with My handle at 7:39 is an imposter. Please fix what’s going on here.
Also we will miss Nassib but have to be realistic with the salary cap.

  50. Chris K Says:

Ummmmm. He can have him. We have America’s Quarterback.

  51. FortMyersDave Says:

Yeah DaBux, I follow the SEC a bit and that Chiasson kid does look like a monster! Just remember that the Bucs tend to be allergic to drafting edge rushers on the first day of the draft like last year where the Bucs got a great replacement for Kwan with another LSU kid but passed on Josh Allen, angering one of the Joes to no end, especially because Devin White did come out of the box slow due to injury.

  52. Hank Rearden Says:

going to miss him treating the media like poo. bye bye mr personality

  53. Capt.Tim Says:

Damn it. Nassib was a really big part of our pass rush.
A 6’6”, 275# guy that can move from LB to DT isn’t easy to replace.
Wonder how much Chucky paid him

  54. adam from ny Says:

he was always gonna be the odd man out…

his last interview in the locker room as a buc was kinda sad…

you could see on his face that he knew he was gone…

now suh is totally in play now…

right now brady is texting suh…”come back big guy”, while recruiting a few others he likes

  55. Mike Johnson Says:

I liked Nassiib. Cleveland gave up on him. and he came to the Bucs. And now The Raiders will pay him. You cannot fault the guy. He’s earned every cent. Good Luck Sir. I wish you the very best.

  56. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Anyone who disliked Nassib was fairweather all the way. The man did very well for us.

    8 games started, 6.5 sacks
    9 games started, 6 sacks
He was on pace for 11+ sacks both years.

  57. Tampabuscsbro Says:

You guys know we are drafting a right tackle in the first right?

  58. Big O Says:

Super bowl 37 was won with a great defense and a mediocre quarterback not a sell out team!!!

  59. Big O Says:

Jason Licht is just trying to save his job

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Over/Under on how many Probowlers the Bucs have in 2020? We’re going to get a lot of attention.

Heck, Lavante may finally get his recognition.

  61. Dom>Licht Says:

Jason Licht and Arians job are both riding on a 44 year QB. Better up grade OL or gonna be a long season

  62. Robert James Says:

Chucky would have signed Jameis too if he could win with him. Happy for Carl… good for him but sorry to see him go

  63. Robert James Says:

@DOM>LICHT….well, they sure as hell didn’t want it riding on Jameis.

  64. RustyRhinos Says:

Sad to see us lose Nassib, he has that relentlessness in his game I like to watch. Good luck with the Raiders. Feel we will miss that intensity on game day!

  65. CPN Says:

Carl “The Accountant” Nassib joins the Gruden Grinders.

  66. The Man Says:

    Revenge of Chucky!…

  67. rrsrq Says:

Nassib has issues wrapping up, he could’ve had more sacks, but now he is with Marinelli, let’s see, actually not really

  68. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Isn’t it weird Joe hasn’t written more articles. when this is probably one of the biggest days in the teams history?

  69. Brandon Says:

For those that think Nassib isn’t starting for the Raiders, it’s a 3 year deal worth up to $9 mil a season. Carl got paid and I’m happy for him. Great motor, great teammate, very versatile player. He’ll be the starting LDE for Marinelli and do it extremely well.

  70. SB Says:

    Welcome Tom Brady!
I don’t know if I am a fan or not of this move.

  71. MDFree Says:

This one hurt us. Given the time and opportunity, there’s not a doubt in my mind Nassib will be a double digit sack guy. He could have been our next Shaq Barrett. We mortgaged our future to win now with jpp and possibly suh. Hopefully since we already have Brady in the bag, we’ll make the smart decision by planning for our future and selecting a qb 14th overall.

  72. adam from ny Says:

    chris godwin is like:

“dang, i just lost my number”

  73. SB Says:

I wonder if they will flip for it adam. 🙂

  74. Erick Says:

As many articles on Nassib to Raiders as Brady coming to Bucs tonight? Hope the Joe’s are ok and just had a few too many Big Storms

  75. Jeffbuc Says:

It has been all over nfl network for 4 hours that we are signing Brady. You have posted 6 stories a day a bout some guy I have n bet heard of on xm channel 196485959 saying jameis is staying. But now when the nfl network is telling to Brady is signing with the bucs not one story except a second tier defensive lineman is going to the raiders. That’s not what I come to this site for I come to it for breaking news for all thing bucs. But now that Brady is coming I don’t ha e to come here no more I can get the unbiased articles on the big boy sites. That despite there love they keep it real because they are bucs reporters. Reporters of bucs news not there agendas. Damn shame we are signing the Michael Jordan of the nfl and the Bucs local blog site doesn’t ha e one article. Have to read ProFootballTalk to get he feel of the nfl community. I hope you and jameis have a hangover tomorrow and you can wipe his crusty stain from your eyebrows enough to open your eyes. #onelastfacial
Before we see what a real America’s qb can do. Not some guy who who dresses up like a qb and hands out candy to all the defensive players. You would think you would have 59 stories about this so all the 850,000 new bucs fan could comment. It’s ok jameis is gone and so is all the interceptions and excuses. You can go start a maybethisteamsbackup@winstonhugefan.com

For real a shame you ha e not one story about the goat coming to your team story. And it has been out since 8:00. The president of our tailgate who is a FSU homer and Winston lover has already said he will let go and root aging if we all get together for the tailgate and do the season thing again. And guess what 8 of us already tonight after 2 hours of waiting for season tickets again. Why is that it’s because the hope now is the super bowl. Not if good or bad jameis will show up. With good jameis still being 3times the amount Brady throws.

We just signed Michael freaking Jordan of the nfl and not one story
Get an Asian lady to take over for you stroking America’s unwanted quarterbacks ego and get on some articles. Knew this day was coming and want to see some peoples ndog, tmax response to signing the best. I want to know what more can the glazers do what does ndog/jameis think he will go from here.

Personally I think ndog/jameis should sign with us be a backup for two years under the goat then he will only be 28 and can take over and sign two big co tracts where his grandkids don’t have to work. Or he can take the easy way out go be a backup for the rest of his career and make over his career what he could make each season as the man after Brady if he holds tight.

  76. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    MCICECREAM TO THE COWBOYS LOL

  77. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Geraldini to Cowboys for 3 years no less…..LMAO!

  78. Joe Says:

That’s not what I come to this site for I come to it for breaking news for all thing bucs.

Good grief. You don’t think there’s enough stories on this site about Brady? The NFL Network hasn’t even released those videos yet — they will in the morning, though Joe has the videos of Willie McGinest and LaGarrette Blount he’s going to write about for tomorrow. Joe’s already working on stories for tomorrow. And you will have Brady stories up to your ears for weeks.

Joe makes no apologies for typing a story about a key Bucs defender who left to play for a couple of ex-Bucs coaches, both of which got Super Bowl rings with the Bucs.

  79. MadMax Says:

    ^Really? ROFLMAO!!! Jeeze!

Dont hate me, I was a Cowboy fan before 1997 when i fell in love with the Bucs. Had a lot to do with meeting their cheerleaders as a youngin.

  80. adam from ny Says:

    SB says:

tom is going to be throwing to chris…

    and throwing to him heavily…

godwin will sorta be his new edelman – sorta…

so g-baby better give ole tommy the respects and toss him those jersey digits right quick!…

or g-baby won’t be getting the ball as much as he’d hope, or that huge new contract he is soon to be sitting on…

if g-baby is nice to tom, he’ll be putting up hall of fame numbers the next couple of years…

i wonder what number godwin wore at penn state

  81. Buczilla Says:

Nassib is a good player and I am going to be upset if they got him on the cheap. Raiders most likely overpaid though.

  82. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Softie McFlurry to the Cowboys.

  83. adam from ny Says:

jameis and the joes are all hugged up at the press box, sipping green beer in sorrow while sniffling and hacking up that dry corona cough…

tomorrow they will re-hydrate and forget ole jaboo, while welcoming in the goat…

now what number should chris godwin wear?

  84. Admiral Redbeard Says:

Anthony Nelson put up nice combine numbers (4.82-40, 6.95-3cone, 18 reps) for a 6’7″ 275lb guy. I think, after playing under/learning from JPP and Shaq, he will eventually be a solid to excellent OLB for us.
