Big Goal From Bayless

March 18th, 2020

Sees big season for Bucs.

Joe can just hear Chucky now.

“Sssuuupppeeerrr Bowl, bay-BBBEEE… boom, boom, boom…  BOOM!”

Those were the slam dunk words from Chucky when Derrick Brooks returned a pick-six against Rich Gannon to seal the first Super Bowl win in Bucs history.

The Bucs haven’t won a playoff game since, some 18 sorry years ago.

But Skip Bayless believes Tom Terrific solves that issue. It is expected sometime today the Bucs will announce that six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady will be the next quarterback of your Buccaneers, baby.

And Bayless, the FS1 personality and weekday co-host of “Undisputed,” believes Brady will put the Bucs on his back and Tampa Bay will be the first team in NFL history to play in a Super Bowl on their home turf.

(In a roundabout way, the Rams played a home game in the Super Bowl in 1980 as the game was played in the Los Angeles suburb of Pasadena at the Rose Bowl. It was also the final season the Rams played at the Los Angeles Coliseum before moving to St. Louis.).

Bayless took to Twitter after news of Brady to the Bucs broke and trumpeted the move.

Joe isn’t sure if this is a hex or not but this is an example of the star power of Brady and how much respect he has around the NFL.

The Bucs are 100% a better team with Tom Brady at QB. No one can dispute this, not even the biggest Jameis homers.

What the Jameis lovers never liked to talk about is what Jameis’ penchant for turnovers did to TEAM MORALE.

I’ve heard from multiple people connected to the Bucs (mostly player agents) that Winston’s turnovers became SOUL-CRUSHING.

Imagine playing your butt off in a game. Taking a PHYSICAL pounding because football is such a physically demanding sport. Yet any moment your hard work (on either side of the ball) can be undone or greatly nullified by Winston giving a gift to your opponent.

I guarantee you the Bucs will PLAY HARDER for Tom Brady than they did for Jameis, at least on a more consistent basis. They trust Tom to make good decisions and manage the game and give them the best chance to win. I bet so many players lost faith in Jameis.

When you begin to lose faith in your QB you hustle a little less, go after an extra block a little less, and mentally lose a bit of your confidence and ‘mojo’ to play at a higher level.

These are FACTS. You watch. This same team’s players will EXCEL having Tom Brady at QB compared to how they played with Winston. They’ll take their games up a notch.

I think the 49ers played a Super Bowl in Stanford iirc, 32 miles from their home stadium.

  4. Umm Says:

Bucs gonna be worse on offense next year…

  5. Bucs Fan From Philly Says:

I say sign Winston to be a backup or draft a qb to be a sponge behind Brady

  6. LaMarcus Says:

If we have to rely on Brady for any player to perform better than we have issues. We only have a qb turnover issue according to the haters so Brady should slide in win a SB auto right?

Bucs gonna be worse on offense next year…

Statistically perhaps but stats don’t win games.

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Said this earlier. Dude reads my posts….clearly 😉

  9. LaMarcus Says:

Expect ME13 outta here as well and AB replacing him

    Yup. Beat the Dolphins.

  11. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Man I am genuinely excited for what all the winston supporters will be saying.

It’s going to be prime entertainment

  12. Tye Says:

The ‘return to glory’ may actually now have a solid foundation..
According to the reports of tickets sales, we might have home field feel…
Going by ‘expert’, the Bucs may be relevant again…
Some say the team may now have more televised games…

WoW! Did the Bucs just final turn their fortune around?
To early to know but it sure seems like a much better start to the league year for the Bucs than in the past 15 years…
    We have a True Qb!

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Umm (let me make a new username so I can troll) Says:
“Bucs gonna be worse on offense next year…”

This is a small example of what we’ll soon be seeing now. Tom Brady haters are going to show up in droves.

  14. Ivan The Insider Says:

    LaMarcus,

Don’t be ridiculous. No one said all the Bucs’ losses were Winston’s fault due to his turnovers. Real bucs fans have always acknowledged how bad our Defense has played at times and they’ve surely lost us many games. BUT…

Players can individually be evaluated in a vacuum by themselves. Winston’s overall play has been streaky, inconsistent, and definitely a liability to the team. Leading the league in turnovers every year he has been in the league (and having turnover issues at FSU which was one of the concerns when drafting him) IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.

Anyone that can see that is blind or doesn’t understand football.

Players play better when they trust their QB not to “give” the game away so often. INTs happen. Fumbles happen. But when they happen often, it’s almost laughable how predictable it becomes. That’s DEMORALIZING to a player.

If you don’t understand that then you probably never seriously played team sports. Because anyone who has knows exactly how that feels.

  15. Bucsfan951 Says:

I just hope they beef up the line so Brady doesn’t get murdered!

And I pray BA is calling the plays from here on out.

“Man I am genuinely excited for what all the winston supporters will be saying. ”

Clearly. It’s the only thing you talk about.

  17. Ivan The Insider Says:

It would still be nice to see the Bucs draft a young QB like a Jacob Eason. Someone to groom to take over when Brady retires in a couple of years.

Then again… we need all of our first four rounds worth of picks to find players that will help us make a Super Bowl run…

I’d love to see the Bucs draft the best RB in the draft with their 1st round pick… either Swift or Taylor. Then draft the best Right Tackle available in the 2nd or 3rd round. And a draft the best DT available in 2nd or 3rd round.

  18. Bucsfan951 Says:

“We only have a qb turnover issue according to the haters”

No, since 2015, yours truly had the most turnovers by any qb. That’s a fact.

“If we have to rely on Brady for any player to perform better than we have issues.“

Do you actually read the ish you type?! What do you even mean?

  19. JohnnyU Says:

the bucs will have less holding calls and phantom blocking in back calls now this year with the americas favorite NFL reffed quarterback in brady. Thats arguably the biggest upgrade with this new qb, the officiating will be way more bucs friendly compared to the last 5 years lol. That 67 yard run by ronald jones that was called back because of a mysterious block in the back by oj howard wont happen. And mike evans will stop getting picked on by refs. NFL refs arent stupid and know deep down that brady cant complete 3rd and 15 or longer as easy as Jameis could due to age

  20. Ivan The Insider Says:

@Bucsfan951 – The Bucs O-Line is a lot better than people give them credit for. They were ranked 10th in Pass Protection last year. I would like to see our Right Tackle replaced.

The Jameis-lover crowed likes to trash our OL because of how many hits Winston takes, but the reality is, he takes a lot of hits because we call a lot more passing plays AND Winston tends to hold the ball too long.

Brady isn’t going to make the mistake of holding the ball too long. He thrives on the quick pass.

  21. Ivan The Insider Says:

Mike Evans & Chris Godwin won’t be able to sleep tonight…

They can’t imagine how big of yardage they’ll put up with a QB that ‘leads’ them so they can catch and run in stride. Winston’s passes often kept guys from making YAC. Not always, but enough that it was easy to spot if you watched all the games.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We just became relevant……everyone is talking about the Bucs…..and that will go on for some time…..
Our TV ratings will go up
Our ticket sales will go up
Our merchandise sales will go up
Our prime time games will go up
Our winning percentage will go up

I truly believe that every player will play better with Brady as the leader.

Joe loves Superbowl rings…..Brady has 6…..Tom Brady “Lord of the Rings”

  23. David Says:

Of course the team is better. They could have won 11 games if they only threw 15 interceptions instead of 30. Brady is not even going to throw 15 interceptions.
For those bashing the line, this line is better than what New England had. Now they have a quarterback that doesn’t hold the ball for five seconds before throwing

2 years……thats all we get from this….just keeping it real, and thats what its really all about anyway…and its ALL GOOD!
But the first year is going to be fkn fantastic!

HUGE STRIDES…..SHOUT OUTS TO ARIANS AND LICHT, BIGTIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WE GOT HIM!

    Now PROTECT him!

    WIRFS OR EZRA!

  26. Bucsfan951 Says:

There’s video going around that shows how JW had 21 “almost” ints. Good god Dot from the right was getting tricked in about half of those plays. Getting a new RT period should do wonders. Hopefully a rookie can step right in, day 1.

  27. Bucsfan951 Says:

    YOURE RIGHT IVAN! Good observation

  28. adam from ny Says:

    ummm yeahh…

hate to say it, but do we really need byron left-twitch now?

  29. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Having Leftwich isn’t a bad thing. It sounds crazy but Byron will learn a lot from Tom including how the Patriots prepared for games. Brady immediately increases the professionalism of every player on the team. They know what’s on the line now.

  30. 541BucsFan Says:

Tom Brady, the greatest QB of all time, will be playing for The Bucs.

    Just, wow.

  31. Seemore Bucs Says:

Sorry to be the accuracy guy but the Rams left the Coliseum in 1980 to play in Anaheim through 1994. They moved to St. Louis in 1995. Just wanted to clarify for everyone.

  32. LaMarcus Says:

    Alaskan

Again. Do u guys even hear yourselves? You said our offensive coordinator can learn from a player. Like learn what how to call plays? Then Leftwich should not be here and we have some serious issues. Hire a coordinator to call plays BA

  33. Todd Says:

Finally we got a QB that’s not a turnover machine! Go Bucs!

  34. Richbucsfan Says:

JW is history in TB. Can’t have that much $$$ in one position.

  36. FortMyersDave Says:

Umm I had nowhere to post this so it is off topic but what the heck: “Does the 3 year deal the Cowboys did with GMac#93 indicate that Jerry Jones has gone around the bend once and for all?????”

  37. ElBajito43 Says:

@JOE YEAAAYYY NO MORE “AMERICA’S QUARTERBACK “ JAMEIS WINSTON
Finally the stupid name is over!!!!!

  38. ElBajito43 Says:

LaMarcus Can you please leave to post on Jameis Winston’s next team web site, you being here makes no sense now, thanks my guy.
    Have a nice life 👍

  39. MirrorMirrowOnTheWall Says:

Buccaneers are not going to the super bowl. Brady could not get a better team into the super bowl last season. He will not be able to get that thing in Tampa in the super bowl.

  40. Bruce Blahak Says:

Not sure if Brady is washed up but this move is tremendous even if he falls on his face. It came down to no other option and it didn’t sacrifice draft picks. Just need a right tackle, another back and defensive linemen and this team can be a juggernaut quick!

  41. NOLES Says:

    Lamarcus

you can always learn from greatness. It doesn’t mean you aren’t qualified to be a COORDINTAOR, actually greatnesses realizes their is always opportunity to learn from others. That is a good quality because as soon as you think you know it all, well you don’t….

As mentioned go follow JW on his new website where he will be holding a clip board. Better check your stat sheet but Mariotta was signed before JW!

  42. Buc4evr Says:

I still can’t get over that last INT of the season – soul crushing is an understatement. Jameis did this to himself. The guy is talented but it’s always one step forward and two steps back. Hopefully he find success in the NFL with an AFC team….lol.

  43. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Last year Brady scored 27 tds against 8 interceptions and 4000 yds with fewer weapons. Winston 33 to 30 and 5000 yds so those who say Brady makes us worse……. what are you talking about??? At 43 he’s still better than Winston at 26. Had Winston put up #s like Bradys w/o the pick6s and he’d still be our qb because we would’ve went to the playoffs! So funny thing now, the Winston hatters were hoping for him to fail so they could say I TOLD YOU SO and now his blind followers will do the same. Me I had wished Winston would get it together but hey, time to move on. GO TB12 GO BUCS!!!

  44. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

    Finally— The True America’s Quarterback!

  45. ATrain Says:

Ok I’m going to ask again. Jameis Lovers OR Joe

If Winston is soo great WHY ISNT ANYONE RINNING TO PICK HIM UP!!

He’s like a dirty sock No One wants to pick it up

  46. Hank Rearden Says:

ATrain…..we use these “?” when we ax questions, not these “!”.
    And as always…Go Bucs?

  47. 813bucboi Says:

    lamarcus

told you JW was a BUST!!!!!….LOL….

now go let ndog out his cage so you can chase his tail….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  48. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    I love Skip & Shannon.
    Watch them daily.

It will be STRANGE to have our BUCS as a topic on the show,
    but very cool.

  49. Pewter power Says:

Ticket sales did go through the roof but how much did the glazers think it over. Brady fans aren’t all gonna buy buc jerseys they’ll be a sea of blue patriot jerseys. Other than that it’ll still be sold out

  50. Swampbuc Says:

He’s 43 when the season starts.

This is the Bucs long term plan?

I wish I could disown these morons but I’m too much of a masochist.

  51. killfish86 Says:

This is the perfect situation. Get tackles, sign Melvin Gordon, Antonio Brown and Suh, draft QB to learn over the next 3 years. Free agents will want to come to Tampa. This move puts the Bucs in the playoffs and gives us the opportunity to grab a young QB that can learn from Brady and Arians without being thrown to the wolves the first year in the NFL.

  52. Big O Says:

The first five regular-season games will be the primer to the rest of the season.
