Violent Is The Word For Kinlaw

February 27th, 2020

South Carolina DT Javon Kinlaw.

South Carolina stud defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw seems like the perfect match between a humble guy and a ferocious player.

One of the top defensive tackles in the draft, Kinlaw, speaking this morning at the combine at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, was asked what an NFL offensive lineman can expect from him.

“I will put my face in your chest,” Kinlaw said.

So with this attitude in mind, Joe asked Kinlaw if he patterned himself after another violent guy, Bucs defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh, who some Bucs fans want replaced by drafting Kinlaw.

Kinlaw got excited with Joe dropping Suh’s name on him.

“The violence he plays with,” Kinlaw began, his voice oozing with respect. “He plays the game very violently. Not sparing a soul out there, that’s for sure.”

Kinlaw noted Suh is the type of player he strives to be.

Violence from a rookie defensive tackle? That’s something that warms Joe’s heart on this chilly Thursday morning.

And that’s also the type of guy Joe could handle the Bucs drafting at No. 14.

I really like him, but the Bucs have a desperate need at RT.

  2. Jerry Says:

Joe, you think if we draft him and re-sign Suh we might cut Gholston or try and get him to restructure? Or do you think the Bucs invision him in some 3 headed rotation with Suh and Vea?

  3. Doctor_Berto Says:

    Yes please

  4. Joe Says:

Good idea Jerry. To be fair, Gholston plays the run well and may have had his best season last year with real coaching.

  5. ChanEpic Says:

Gholston came up many many times last year. If we can fit all three in a rotation, it would REALLY be something to watch. But I agree with Ocala, what about RT?

  6. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Generally you need to draft in the first round to get a starter LT but you can find a descent RT in the second and third round. I say the better value is to pick a defensive lineman in the first round and pick up two quality Offensive lineman later in the draft.

  7. ChanEpic Says:

Alabama – Nothing wrong with that draft strategy at all. Kinlaw is a BEAST. Would love to see him next year.

  9. Tampabuscsbro Says:

The issue is we need a right tackle. Those aren’t easy to come by. This draft is top heavy with OTs but in the later rounds there is almost nothing. It’s better to invest into that position through the draft plus it’s a glaring hole DT isn’t.

  10. gotbbucs Says:

Grant Delpit or Isaiah Simmons, either one. Finish the back end once and for all.

Im a gamecock…..been one for years…said no to Clowney being first overall, he wasnt worth it, and look what happened.

No to Kinlaw at 14 for us. I dont think he’ll be there anyway which is great, pushes someone else further down. Especially if we bring Suh back (which hes already stated he wants to come back).

    Trade back 2 times…Delpit, then Davidson in the 2nd…then Clyde….then Bartch….then Claypool….then Hunt

I’ll just say this…You don’t pass on DT’s like Kinlaw, if they are setting on the board when your # is up.

  14. Bruce Blahak Says:

gone before 14…i think we’ll be forced to get one of the top OT’s, best player available scenario…

  15. Smashsquatch Says:

Very happy I’d be if he became a Buc. Javon runs WITH the Squatch……

  16. JimmyJack Says:

Violent……Sounds like a good fit on this defense.

  17. Allbuccedup Says:

If Kinlaw is there at 14 by all means get him. Simmons will gone, Grant Delpit will fall to the second round after the combine.

  18. stpetebucsfan Says:

If he’s there at #14 I can certainly see it. Hopefully it would be a money saving rookie deal that lets us sign Suh for a couple more years to both mentor/lead/and rotate through. Suh…Vea…and Kinlaw as a fresh interior rotation…that should scare our division…three mean man monsters!!!

Otherwise get one of the beast RT’s…one of the many should surely still be available at 14…especially if QB needy teams get jumpy and overdraft.

  19. Big O Says:

Defense in the 1st Rd is the way to go.

  20. TexBuc Says:

I just do not believe BA will draft a OL or a RB in the 1st round. Gotta think pass rusher or DL here.

  21. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Max what is the issue with Kinlaw. Based on everything I have read he was my top choice. Since you follow them closely what is the issue with him?

  22. TDTB Says:

Kinlaw is the pick but the Bucs will likely need to trade up to get him. If he goes early, then one of the top flight tackles should make it to the 14th pick.

  23. MadMax Says:

@TDTB, just knowing his past. Im not going to put him down and mention stuff….he was poor as a teen and did what he had to do in order to get by. But my main knock on him is he really has to work hard at not getting fat. I dont see him being a beast player once he gets that nfl $$. He might have a year or two where he’s ok but then just bust out….probably gain a lot of weight and take plays off. I could be wrong but thats my prediction.

  24. MadMax Says:

    ^ @TouchDownTampaBay

i didnt realize another user was using TDTB…jeeze lol

  25. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

We have to sign Conklin and draft this stud. Pair this guy up with the beast Devin White damn vita is getting better too defense trending up resign suh as well

  26. Buczilla Says:

I’d be tickled pink if we drafted this dude.
