Shaq Shatters The Bucs’ Sack Record (Video)

December 29th, 2019

Still drinking Matt Ryan’s Gatorade.

It took about 20 minutes of game play for linebacker Shaq Barrett to put his name in the Bucs history books today.

Yes, Shaq got sack No. 17.5 of the season early in the third quarter against the Falcons at the Den of Depression.

That broke Shaq’s tie at 16.5 with Bucs legend Warren Sapp, whose 2000 season total was the single-season team record entering this season. Sapp was the first to greet Shaq on the sidelines when the on-field celebration was complete. Sapp gave him a big bear hug and patted him on the helmet.

Almost ironically, it largely was a coverage sack, which illustrated how far the Bucs defense has come since the secondary’s miserable start to the season.

Shaq had a huge third-down sack with just under two minutes remaining to make it 18.5 on the season, but the Falcons converted on fourth down. Then Shaq racked up No. 19.5 two plays later.

Enjoy the moment in the video below.

Congrats Shaq!! Bringing him, JPP and SUH back are #1 priority…..and need that jameis money to do it!

  2. firethecannons Says:

    Boom Shaq a Lacka
bring back Shaq, JPP and Suh and Nassib

  3. Howard Cosell Says:

Shaq definitely got that Gatorade bottle (in the picture) from Matty.
Ryan is sobbing in the corner off screen because Shaq slapped him across the face.

    Good game so far.
Good Jameis has shown up and the D looks scary

  4. Howard Cosell Says:

8-8 season with the needle pointing up….only the owner siblings can stop this now

  5. Zwak Says:

    Well said Howard!

  6. Buczilla Says:

This is awesome. Gotta sign this dude and JPP to hopefully keep the majority of the defense together for next year. It’s been a rough year, but there is legit hope for the future.

  7. MadMax Says:

    19.5 with 38 secs left

  8. cmurda Says:

And Matt Gay and Jameis shatter the fundamental record.

  9. GhostofSchiano Says:

This game ends like the first game began….a jameis pick six.

    What a season

  10. Plex Says:

    I. was all in to keep jameis until now. BA talks accountability, then let him walk. He closed the season on a pick 6 on the first play in OT. He lost the game, he lost the season, now let him walk or lose the franchise.

  11. Ed Kerber Says:

    Jamie’s ain’t getting 30 million

  12. LongSeason Says:

Nice to watch the defense’s efforts go to piss for a who must be paid by other teams per interception.

Emil Stivetts from the local Pick Kwick would give us a better QB.

  13. Bucsfan77 Says:

With out the 3 missed FGS this game wouldn’t even of made it to OT, guess Winston is to be blamed for those also since he didn’t score a touchdown in the first place. I Hope Winston is signed to a long term contract that is team friendly so we can resign all the ones we need to take care of on defense side.

  14. 1sparkybuc Says:

Gay did his part to lose this game.

  15. NOLES Says:

MJ stewart can’t even play zone & be remotely in the right spot… it’s UFB when did this guy start playing CB… lol..

    That loss was sooooooo BUCS..
Agree w BL slow play calling w leads in 2nd half. He needs to continue to press the D. JW is just so frustrating to watch we loss at least 4 – 5 games bc of him and Gay.

I know D lost a few early on too.. so many questions with so many free agents. It will be interesting to see how BA & Licht handle it..

Perriman whom I thought was awful to start the year really showed his resilience these last few games. I owe that man an apology. Lol….

So was that just one JW pick that was his fault today.. lol…

  16. Marine Buc Says:

Congratulations Shaq. Winston sux donkey dics and Matt Gay does too.

  17. SteveK Says:

Resign the whole d line in this priority:

    1. Barrett
    2. JPP
    3. Suh
    4. Nassib
    5. Gholston

Let Winston walk, unless he will take $12 million + incentives? Bad play. Can’t have it.

  18. SteveK Says:

    Way to him shaq!

  19. richardtyson Says:

    @Joe

I’m pretty sure he got sack 17.5 in the first half.

  20. BuccoShow Says:

Barrett ,JPP, and Suh for sure.

Draft a young beast for the future

  21. Allbuccedup Says:

Bring back the “D” Barrett, JPP, Suh, Nassib the rest of the line Vea and Gholston are still under contact. Maybe Dotson one year and draft a right tackle. Give Winston half of what wants one year prove it contract prove it being take us to the playoffs. Then draft a QB and let the so called QB whisper work with him maybe Jacob Eason.

  22. Pa Privateer Says:

pay the man whatever he wants

  23. Buccaneerscotty Says:

He could end up with 20 if the NFL gives him that 1/2 sack
