19-Year Sacks Record Primed To Fall Today

December 15th, 2019

Still drinking Cam Newton’s Gatorade.

Team Glazer allegedly has a team of sculptors on speed dial, ready to craft a statue to be erected on Himes Avenue when the parade concludes.

Joe cannot confirm the exact celebration or the artist fees, but Joe can remind Bucs fans that linebacker Shaq Barrett is on the cusp of busting a Buccaneers sacks record that has stood since the 2000 season.

With one more sack today, Shaq will tie Warren Sapp’s single-season, franchise record of 16.5.

Back in 2000, the Bucs ranked second in the NFL that season with 55 sacks. Sapp had a ton of help around him, including the secondary giving him a little extra time to work than the current Bucs’ crop of defensive backs.

This year’s Bucs are tied for 15th in sacks with 34. So Shaq can pat himself on the back an extra time for his accomplishments.

Oddsmakers have the over/under on sacks for the Bucs today in Detroit at 4.5. That’s too big of a number for Joe to touch, but it shows you how likely it is for the Bucs to have a field day on the Lions sad offense and third-string quarterback.

Joe would get a few nickels Shaq gets the record today.

Get to 20, Shaq! Make Team Glazer pay!

And next we’ll see Sapp crying just like he did when Strahan set the single season record.

Could be the best free agent signing since Hardy Nickerson!!!

Be careful about “make team Glazer pay”. They also have a few other people to figure out how to keep.

Shocking that Sapp has held this record this long from the DT position. Just amazing.

It is amazing. Just shows has dominate sapp was. Love what Shaq is doing not hating at all but 1 great season an the bank vault should be opened for him ? Honestly is that the smartest decision? What if it’s just a one hit wonder an he barely get double digits next year. What if defense take him out of the game like a few did this year. Personally another prove it year an see if this guy is the real deal. Again I’m not a hater just over the last several years we brought in FA that had good years an they did nothing for us. Dashaun goldston the safety an what about Micheal goat Johnson an I’m sure there’s others.
