  1. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Ira, the attendance is reflective on the team and this lost decade

  2. geno711 Says:

Enjoyed the Podcast. Sorry to hear that you think that Suh will leave.

  3. Wesley Says:

So is Joe just going to ignore Bruce Arians comments about being able to win with another q.b.?

  4. SteveK Says:

    Wesley,

Just read those comments lol. Truth!

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

To be honest, I lost interest in the podcast when it got invaded with negativity.

Wesley, Joe posted and article about it. Look harder.

And Arians said ‘if we can win with this one, we can win with another…’

  6. Wesley Says:

@bonzai no he didn’t, maybe you should look harder.

  7. SteveK Says:

    Bonzai,

I don’t see the article about Arians’ comment on Winston today when asked, “can you win with another QB?”

Arians: “Oh, yeah! If we can win with this QB, we can definitely with another QB”.

I feel like that and so do a lot of the fans. New QB, keep building the D. Suh, JPP and Barrett better be back.

  8. ben Says:

with the bucs receivers being this good ,get a new qb and stop with the excuses ?

  9. Wesley Says:

Its all everyone but Joe is talking about.

  10. SteveK Says:

    Wesley,

I like to think Joe is going to respond to that one this evening or tomorrow. Can’t wait. To ignore that comment would be saddening bc it is true.

  11. John.L Says:

Steve.k I think it’s on Nfl.com,I seen it earlier on the internet.

  12. SteveK Says:

    John,

You’re right! PFT has it too. And CBS. But JoeBucsFan.com is the 1A site for Bucs football. I hope we can keep the unbiased dialogue going.

  13. Wesley Says:

Joe will likely say it’s just a negotiation tactic.

  14. Jean Lafitte Says:

Jameis 1of1 will resign Jameis unless Jameis 1of1 is fired.

  15. SteveK Says:

Good luck selling the fan base if the turnover machine is resigned. Five years and no playoffs. Just a suspension, and more turnovers than anyone.

Jameis gave up over 120 points on turnovers this year, equating to 7.5 ppl for the D on average. Can we deduct these pints off turnovers from our points scored for a net points? So joe crows about he yards and points scored. What about the impact of all the turnovers? It’s very real and down right silly to ignore them.

  16. SteveK Says:

If the Jameis apologists want to look at the points and yards, then they must look at the field position and points surrendered off turnovers.

  17. Wesley Says:

Can’t waste more time delaying the inevitable. It’s pretty simple, he can’t be trusted with the ball, especially when it matters most. You can’t win championships that way, and isn’t that what it’s all about? It’s nothing personal, heck I like the guy, I even have his jersey. But he is not the future.

  18. Tackleblockwin Says:

Doesn’t matter what happened the first four quarters. It is now OT and we have the ball. If Jameis takes us down the field for a TD, game is over, we win. First down, hardly no pressure on Jameis. The ATL LB is standing right next to Brate. Jameis throws a pick 6. He stared down Brate so hard he didn’t even see the ATL LB just a few yards away. Yes our kicker put Jameis in a bad situation. But if Jameis is going to be great, if we are going to pay him crazy money, he has to lead the team to more victories than losses in that situation.

  19. Joe Says:

Its all everyone but Joe is talking about.

Arians also thought he would win with Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert too.

Sorry if Joe had to attend to other issues that life throws at you.

  20. Joe Says:

So is Joe just going to ignore Bruce Arians comments about being able to win with another q.b.?

Thanks for listening to the podcast. It was abundantly clear it was recorded just after Sunday’s game. Arians’ quote you cite wasn’t uttered until noon Monday.

  21. Joe Says:

Joe will likely say it’s just a negotiation tactic.

It is. Damn near everything he’s said in the last two days has the scent of posturing. Even Jameis, too.

  22. Jean Lafitte Says:

If you want Jameis gone then everyone should focus their efforts on firing Jason Licht. Otherwise forget about moving on without Jameis even if it cost us 30+ mil.

  23. Ed Says:

Mike Florio column re free agent quarterback list first, followed by quarterbacks that may be traded/released due to salary cap.

FREE AGENTS: Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, Marcus Marriotta, Philip Rivers, Eli Manning, Case Keenum, Dak Prescott, Drew Brees, Jameis Winston, Blake Bortles.

RELEASE/TRADED?: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Rosen, Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco, Derek Carr, Nick Foles, Cam Newton, Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Florio writes Garoppolo and Cousins are more than likely staying.

What I found interesting was in the threads from fans around the country not one fan was talking up singing Jameis.

Tampa Bay has its blinders on when media types think its a conclusion the Bucs will resign Winston. Arians made Carson Palmer into a very good quarterback. Winston’s “coachability” is questionable. Why wouldn’t Arians consider someone on those lists. Guarantee none would give away 49 points and field position with 40 + turnovers. It is a big deal Joe because Arians wants to win, he isn’t about the entertainment value. The Glazers want to sell tickets, there is no buzz anywhere about Winston that leads me to think that the serious football fan thinks after 6 years Winston will develop good field vision and self control to not let the ball go into tight coverage.

The play Perriman made in the back of the end zone was spectacular but c’mon, Winston threw up a prayer, it was a Hail Mary and it worked out well but how many of those types of balls has he throw in the past that were picked off? A veteran quarterback that knows what he’s doing doesn’t chance it.

  24. Lex Says:

Hey Joe, great podcast but the audio was not good.

  25. Ed Says:

Just finished listening to this in entirety. Hope Joe and Ira have a Happy New Year.

I do take exception with the Chicago writer who thinks that the Bears would be a playoff team with Winston. C’mon, first of all the Packers would eat him up playing him 2 games a year. Secondly the Bears don’t have Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and B Perriman to rescue Jameis errant throws. Thirdly, the Vikings have a great defense too.

If Jameis couldn’t get the Bucs into a playoff season this year in a weaker division than the NFC Central, put him in a more difficult division, playing in cold weather games (fumbles, tipped balls) and playing in a city where the media are grizzly bears compared to some of the lamb reporters in this town (not Ira), what does Jameis do under pressure? We’ve seen it for 5 years now.

Winston would be more of a fit on a team like the Chargers or Broncos. A fresh start for him would do him good. I like the guy and wish him well but it hasn’t worked out here. Thank you Jameis for your hard work and effort, you are a warrior, sometimes the next job works out better than the first.

  26. Wesley Says:

“Thanks for listening to the podcast. It was abundantly clear it was recorded just after Sunday’s game. Arians’ quote you cite wasn’t uttered until noon Monday.” Yeah no sh*t Joe, but since you didn’t write about it where else am I to post my comment but your last article.
    Joe wrote all about it.–Joe

  27. D-Rome Says:

“Uncle” Ira. Gets me every time. 😀
