Donovan Smith And Courage

December 8th, 2019

Heart.

It seems there is some sort of sport Joe heard about, and it is taking a baseball bat to Bucs left tackle Donovan Smith.

What in the name of Anthony Collins has he done to whizz in people’s apple pie is beyond Joe. From the moment he was drafted it seemed people had it out for him.

Smith may never make people forget Anthony Muñoz, but he’s not bad when you consider he goes against some of the best pass rushers in the game. Also, he has never missed a start in his career — 77 straight. He takes great pride in not leaving the field.

That was evidenced today. Smith left with an injury (Joe noticed trainers working on his right knee) but team officials never issued an injury announcement. That was, in part, because he went back in the game.

Smith was limping noticeably and there were times he had to be helped up from the field after a play.He was really gutting it out and that was a good thing. We saw what happened when he was on the sidelines.

Perhaps it is a do-or-die attitude Smith displayed today that rubbed off on his teammates because not only did the Bucs not give up, they fought back to win.

Joe has to give props to Smith because there was no doubt he was fighting through pain.

No joe d smith is bad…. hes hardly courageous he’s lazy which is disgraceful not worth your blind defense…..maybe one day we will get to see the compromising photo of joe d smith clearly has for all the free passes he receives.

  2. Wesley Says:

“It seems there is some sort of sports Joe had heard about it,” huh?

  3. Plex Says:

As a bucs fan….. we take the win and move on. Cuz this is that rare. 3 in a row? Go bucs!

  4. Jason Says:

Donavon has taken plays off since he got here. However, today when he was needed most he stood tall. Definitely went against the narrative today.

  5. Joe in Michigan Says:

D Smith playing hurt to give his team a chance to win, same as Jameis. This team is going in the right direction, even the haters have to admit that.

  6. JimmyJack Says:

Atta boy Smith!! We lose this game without you. That was apparent when we had to try and fill your shoes. All you haters seen just how ugly a bad LT can be when you were out……..& Yes, they will make some sorta excuse about it. Let that crap roll off your back and shut down the next guy…..next week.

Your effort is appreciated bro and I see what you doing. Forget these idiots that don’t realize how tough it is to stop the greatest passrushers on Earth……..these same fools will think Shaq Barrett is just a special player and there’s nothing the opposing LT can do. They won’t understand this league has tons of special passrushers.

I’m very glad to see Donovan have probably his best season this year as a pro. Even if no other fan will acknowledge it!!

  7. PragueBucsFan Says:

The nicest team spoting the competition 10, 14 or 17 points then coming back to beat them. Way to win the 4th quarter.

  8. Mort Says:

Fact: tmaxcon is not a Bucs fan. He hates the team and all of the players.

Donovan is a good – not great, but good – left tackle. He has a tough thankless job and BA won’t give the tackles help with extra blockers. And RoJo certainly isn’t doing anyone any favors in that dept. either.

  9. Buccaneerscotty Says:

If you don’t like Smith go be a browns fan !

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This proves that we need depth on the Oline…….we need to draft a OT and perhaps a OG & another OT later in the draft….

I’d be happy with DT, OT, RB, OG, OT, CB, KR (PR)

  11. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Jesus, did you see his replacement when he was out? Wells was a veritable turnstile out there! Give Donovan some props. He’s not worth his salary, but he’s maybe average. Again, another dumb Lichtmyballs decision to sign him to that contract.

Raise your standards…. good is not good enough…. there is never an excuse to be lazy. Ever. He’s garbage.

  13. Greg Says:

@tmaxcon my gosh is everyday a bad day for you? Give credit where it is due dude!

  14. tmaxcon Says:

    Greg

Heartless lazy players never deserve credit. Raise your standards.

  15. eric Says:

some of so called fans be smoking some great stuff, how can anyone watch a Bucs game now and not see an improving team

  16. tmaxcon Says:

    eric

Improving is great for tee ball…. rewarding pros for improving is pathetic…. they are paid to beat good teams too they have not done that….

  17. 813bucboi Says:

O-Line suffered when he was out…

    GO BUCS

  18. Rod Munch Says:

I did notice however that he was getting a lot of help later in the game, and if he was limping I can see why. But a limping injured Smith is better than whoever that scrub was that came in to replace him. Amazing that you can’t find a new LT off someone else’s practice squad – even though 80% of the people on this board wanted Smith gone this offseason.

  19. lowercaseg Says:

he would be better on the right side

  20. lowercaseg Says:

he would be better playing on the right side

  21. Capt. Tim Says:

The draft report on Donovan Smith, listed in 2 draft magazines, said that Smith often” took off plays”, and was “Lazy” .
Thats exactly what they read- thats exactly what they say- its exactly what they believe.
    They dont watch the O-line.
Occasionally, A TV commentator will point out that Smith got beat. To them,This just confirms what they read, 7 years ago.
Anthony Munoz got beat occasionally too.
Being a Left Tackle is like training in MMA.
No Matter how Badass you are, some one eventually will get you in an Arm lock, and you are gonna tap. Usually sqealing like a lil girl.

Smith is a good left tackle. He has improved every year. He isnt a great left tackle
But 3/4 of the league would kill for a good left tackle.
Our line is looking good. Smith and Marpet are Good.
Jensen is very Good. In another year, Cappa will be great.
Dotson is in decline. He is still decent.
We need a monster Right Tackle.
Our biggest weakness is depth. We dont have any decent backup linemen.

  22. BucHead588 Says:

Seriously Fick all the Hating ass Buc fans Jameis has thrown a lot of pics yes But I’d rather beable to score point then have Mariota who can’t throw at TD or a Pick like take the good with the bad yah with a Defense we can win Ppl always think it’s greener on the other side we’ll go ahead an go to the other side lol

  23. buc15 Says:

I miss the days when Tmax would vanish after a win like a good little troll

  24. BucsFan727 Says:

    D. Smith you get your flowers today. You gots to give credit when its due.

  25. SmoothBayRider Says:

Now I know they don’t tell the whole story , but go look at the Sacks Allowed and Penalties numbers by guys who are considered “Top LTs “ around the league . And then go look at D Smith’s sacks allowed and penalty numbers. Smith has better numbers than most of them . Also he’s never missed a game, that is a franchise LT , I don’t care what anybody says .
