Devin White Gets Rookie Honor

December 5th, 2019

Honored.

Devin White is starting to get run for his strong play recently. And Joe suspects this will continue.

Various sites have rookie rankings or top rookies listed. Joe hasn’t found one (among mainstream sites) listing White until yesterday. But the following should help.

Today, White was named “NFC Rookie of the Month” for November.

Through his five games (Sunday counted even though it was Dec. 1), here are his results: 46 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, one pick, two passes defended, two forced fumbles and a scoop-and-score.

Not shabby at all.

While White may be a bit of a secret in the NFL, trained eyes haven noticed. Former NFL scout and NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah put together his top-10 rookies. Jeremiah does this periodically and the last time he had such a list, at midseason, White was not included.

Now? Jeremiah has White listed as the No. 8 rookie.

White has really come alive the past few weeks. He collected 2 sacks against Atlanta in Week 12 and followed that up with an interception against the Jaguars in Week 13.

White’s play is part of the reason the Bucs still have a glimmer of hope to make a wild card run.

  2. Easy Says:

He’s been making some plays here the last month and is really coming on strong. The future is bright for him and it always helps when you learn from a stud WLB in LVD54.

  3. Dan Says:

I think White is something we’ve been missing in the defense for some time, just an athletic freak.

    “Kobe Fakers Thoughts

*Kobe hopes Todd Bowles is reading this

Devin White is a total mismatch to any offensive lineman blocking. No NFL offensive lineman has seen or tried to block a player like DW and his “Technique or move”

DW is under 6 foot but at 235lbs of muscle and 4.42 speed. The Lineman jams him with his hands to slow his progress but DW is strong enough to easily handle it with his strength BUT

the INSTANT DW sees a little opening and crack his under 6 foot body is exploding tru to the QB.

Kobe has not seen this ever before. The Olineman is completely helpless and caught off balance as DW zooms by him

    No lineman can block this

DW is unstoppable as a pass rusher. DW will average 3 sacks per game

Kobe Faker beseeech Todd Bowles to have DW more as a pass rusher”

Right now these guys are playing for each other and for a roster spot somewhere. One wildcard is already locked up. We’re two games behind the Rams and four games behind the Vikings with four games to play. I am watching for progress for individuals and for the team, and where we finish in the division.

More meaningless subjective handouts to distract low standard bucfan from another failed season…. we as bucfans are the ultimate suckers….

  7. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

One of the main reasons that he is able to excel is that the DTs keep the OL off him to a big extent; it will be up to that nimkumpoop jason licht to replace suh when he walks in FA…..

  8. Tampabuscsbro Says:

TM out here calling everyone except jameis winston trash. What’s wrong with him? the rookie linebacker got a huge honor why is he made about it.

  9. WestChap Says:

Sure do hope that Suh wants to return. There is so much to like up front with him setting the tone alongside Vea, JPP, Shaq, Devin, LVD and Nassib. Too many free agents but maybe we can keep half… Suh and JPP are tone setters who make everyone better. Lord knows what Shaq is going to get paid, but perhaps it will net us a 3rd round compensatory pick and make another stud want to come join the Bowles party.

Clueless Joe mad, he’s real mad like mad when Rachel Watson sees his portly body and runs away

  16. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Don’t worry about maxi pad, he’s like that homeless crakhead outside the mall that says,”you wanna fight”.
He’s too weak and harmless, just keep moving and use your time more effectively.

  17. TexBuc Says:

    Congrats Devin well deserved honor

  18. WhatTheBuc Says:

Im convinced that Tmaxipad is actually one of the Joe’s. Just keeping the posters cranked up. Nobody can actually be that big of a loser that they just sit around waiting for a new article so they can post some stupid negative comment that everyone scrolls past. If you are a real person I feel sorry for you.

  19. TampaTown Says:

“A bit of a secret on the NFL” meaning they don’t want to admit they don’t watch small market teams. It’s the same reason John Lynch and Ronde Barber aren’t already in the Hall of Fame. This is what Ira is really up against.
