Colts Expert Picks The Bucs

December 7th, 2019

Joe’s heard chatter that the 6-6 Colts are a good team.

Reality says Indianapolis has lost four out of five games — including to Miami — as they limp in to Tampa to face the Bucs.

As usual, Joe spends time listening to sports radio in the city of the Bucs’ next opponent. Joe’s can’t find anyone in Indianapolis who thinks the Colts are going anywhere because of their injuries that have kicked their offense in the gut.

Colts reporter Kevin Bowen of 107.5 FM in Indianapolis doesn’t see the Colts having enough firepower to hang with the Bucs. The Colts average 21 points per game and they’ve scored at 17 or less through three of their last four games.

Bowen’s Prediction: Bucs 27-23.  … these two teams have gone in opposite directions as of late. Sunday’s challenge for the Colts will be in trying to quiet down an explosive offense, along with creating some turnovers/short fields for a banged-up offense. That offense, and its skill group, is getting some help in the health department this Sunday. But it’s still hard to imagine the Colts scoring in the 25-to-30 range against a defense that has made recent strides. Unless Jameis Winston has a multi-turnover game (which is very possible), it’s hard to see the Colts scoring enough.

This must-win game for the Bucs is not about “must-win” for the playoffs; it’s about must-win to prove your not just another NFL slappy losing to reeling teams en route to a losing season.

Given the bucs results at the landfill formerly known as the great sombrero over the last 18 years only a fool would beat on bucs at home. Cancer93 led teams set the NFL standard on giving up the booty at home over the last decade it’s going to be tough to overcome

  2. Touchdown, Tampa Bay Says:

    DAMN RIGHT!!! GO BUCS!!!

  3. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Biggest game of the season. It’s time, Bucs! Show the fans that this team is turning the corner and is committed to winning. Screw draft position. The fans need a win.

    ________

    Yeah, there’s ALWAYS that.

  5. Fire the fans Says:

Even a couple turnovers won’t lose ya this game. Would need to be a complete JW meltdown

  6. orlbucfan Says:

If the defense isn’t a fluke, Bucs win. Go Tampa Bay!!

  7. Kobe Faker Says:

“Brissett type of QB and HC Frank Reich and the quick short passing attack destroys the Bucs corners

    shallow cross all game long

Too completely destroy BA/BL Twins offense is full blitz pressure with the linebackers and cover 2

Atl and Jac didnt blitz except 2nd half of the Jacs game

colts coord follow saints Dennis Allen blueprint, it will be a long day for the Bucs

Hey Intern Lefty, better let BA script the whole game

Tomorrow there will be 3 players wearing #53

SUNDAY, THE 6300 BUCSFANS WILL WITNESS THE GREATEST LINEBACKER PERFORMANCE IN THE HISTORY OF RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM EVER

    MR DARIUS LEONARD”

I agree with your last sentence, @Joe.

Unlike Tmax I don’t see this as about last year’s team having a turnaround. This is about where this team is and a realistic expectation of a culture change. To hell with the past. The future is now!

  9. SB Says:

Banged up offense huh? Thanks Joe. I will tell my wife to start Cousins instead of Brissette

  10. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Isn’t it sad when the Bucs games are always predicated on:

“Will Good or Bad Jameis show up????”

Only an NFL loser team and franchise comes out with crap like that.

No team who drafts a a QB #1 Overall should have to say something like that.

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    I agree with Kobe…..

The Bucs will get back to their Loser ways and will be right back at this fanbase screaming for Jameis to be gone

  12. Proudbucsfan Says:

We will bring our safeties up in the box and only rush four that will stop the run and the short passing attack. Come on Kobe faker don’t think it’s un stoppable. Ty Hilton is out and they have a lot of injuries. Now I do believe that we might be screwed because Cappa is out.

  13. TampaTown Says:

Thanks to Ira we now have our own injuries to overcome

  14. Slugglife Says:

How many teams in the NFL are getting ready to pony up 25-30 mil for such unpredictability? No way in hell we should have these doubts week in and week out. One or two games per year I can understand, but every week?

I’m pulling for the guy to play well, but man, thinking of having this debate every weekend for the next five years is gonna be a bit disappointing.

  15. TOM Says:

The Bucs seem to catch teams when they’re at there lowest. Bucs will win a close one.

  16. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I read that Marlon Mack will play in this game, and if so, we better be on our A Game.
The Colts are the number 4 rushing team in the NFL.
They also have quite possibly THE best O Line in the NFL.
The Colts are also fighting for their Playoff life.
As Leftwich said in his video, this will not be an easy game for us.
Still, I think we just have too much firepower, and that will save us.

  17. Jean Lafitte Says:

it’s about must-win to prove your not just another NFL slappy losing to reeling teams en route to a losing season.

Joe couldn’t have made a truer statement than that.

  18. BucHead588 Says:

Don’t matter what Jameis we get or have it hasn’t been him if our defense could have been 20th in the league Jameis would have already been Resigned to a multi year Extension

  19. Papa Bwucy Bwuce Says:

If the Bucs win tomorrow look for Joe to write an article saying “One more for the “We Are 2020 Super Bowl Contenders COLUMN”

  20. Defense Rules Says:

@Kevin Bowen … “Unless Jameis Winston has a multi-turnover game (which is very possible), it’s hard to see the Colts scoring enough.”

It’s actually a sad statement that other cities view our franchise QB as the ‘weak link’ in the chain. Seems like Bowen’s saying that Jameis is the great equalizer. No one’s ever sure though which team he’s gonna win it for.

More than anything I want to see Jameis play sound, CONSISTENT football these last 4 games. One turnover per game is probably acceptable, but more than that (2-7 turnovers by our offense in like half our games this season) just isn’t sound football. Our record is 2-4 when the Bucs offense has 2 or more turnovers in a game this year. It’s 1-4 when the offense commits 3 or more turnovers in a game. THAT’S not acceptable.

  21. Defense Rules Says:

BucHead528 … And if the Bucs offense hadn’t committed 28 turnovers in just 12 games our defense would probably have been ranked much higher than it is. They’ve paid the price for cleaning up the offense’s messes.

  22. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Defense – maybe you weren’t watching the secondary play the last 2.5 years. Turnovers haven’t impacted our defense that much. Look at the average drives off turnovers.

  23. tmaxcon Says:

    D r

Do us a favor fine sir post a pick of yourself watching football Sunday with your leather helmet please…. its an offensive era pal…. you and tickdr keep the numbers coming I’m convinced the owners are considering awarding Lombardi based on qb with least turnovers and defensive rankings…. those damn points just don’t matter anyway…. i can imagine a watch party with you and tbbf…. tbbf screaming bring the fullback in and you getting pissed during any offensive play…. you are just like Dungy the clown…. one dimensional but damn your consistent and most likely have more integrity.

  24. unbelievable Says:

    It’s a mix of both.

@DR- I can’t remember which article it was, but yesterday LordCorn and tickrdr had an interesting back and forth exploring our points scored vs. points allowed for the season, and how different those numbers would be if we had the the league average amount of turnovers, instead of our actual amount.

I’m just paraphrasing, but basically we still had the #8 or #9 scoring offense, and our scoring defense was somewhere around #23….

And there is the reality of it, Keep 2nd place in our division the rest of the season.. Go Bucs.. Prove it time..

  26. Reach87 Says:

Bingo! Fake @$$ “fans” crawl out. We CAN win this game and if you don’t believe every game matters, YOU DONT KNOW FOOTBALL or any team activity. Go Bucs!

  27. Anonymous Says:

Judas H. Priest. Teams get well against the Bucs. Do they not? Does anyone think this team will win three in a row? LOL. Let’s see them win against a decent team still fighting for their division and we’ll talk.

  28. tmaxcon Says:

I believe one of the members of the brotherhood of delusional optimists Reach87 believes they can win regardless of history….. one thing about the delusional ones they sure can take a nut punch they keep coming back for the abuse…..

  29. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

I bet we win this game big time.
