Buccaneers 30, Cardinals 27

November 10th, 2019

Hero Jamel Dean

The good folks of Tampa were treated to second-rate NFL football on both sides of the ball today at the Den of Depression.

It was sloppy, but it was glorious.

A desperately-needed “W” arrived that hopefully will spark the Bucs to make a run since the team isn’t interested in playing for the NFL Draft.

Two interceptions by America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, were balanced by him finishing 30-for-48 for 358 yards, a touchdown, a game-winning drive and not getting rattled in the fourth quarter.

Our beloved Bucs proved, as usual, that they play down to their opponents, but this time they figured out how to win. Arizona looked like the 3-5-1 team they were entering the game, and the Bucs now sit at 3-6, a game ahead of the Falcons, who shocked and blew out the Saints in New Orleans. (All of a sudden the two games upcoming against Atlanta don’t seem like pushovers).

Peyton Barber came alive to revive the Bucs running game and outplay Ronald Jones on the ground. Barber had 11 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown, while Jones added 11 carries for 29 yards, a touchdown and a critical fumble.

As usual, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans had huge roles, and O.J. Howard re-appeared. Scotty Miller rose from goat status after dropping a touchdown to make the first big catch of his career.

The defense held late, and Joe is so happy for rookie Jamel Dean coming up with what turned out to be the play of the game, his first career interception — in the red zone as Arizona drove for a game-clinching score.

Bruce Arians may not know how to manage his challenge flags, but he’s still eating a “W” tonight.

Man, is Joe happy the NFL wouldn’t let the Cardinals throw a challenge flag on that final play. Joe would be crying right now.

Hey, if the Saints lost at home to Atlanta … New Orleans comes to Tampa next Sunday.

Stick with Joe for plenty out of today’s victory.

We did not deserve to win this game.

  2. soggy Says:

sorry not impressed well maybe a little..

  3. H8JWLveBucs Says:

    Even coaches are dumb jesus

  4. VegasBuc Says:

aaaaaand the first comment is still a negative one. Pitiful and disgusting fanbase.

  5. ModHairKen Says:

We did not deserve to lose this game.

  6. H8JWLveBucs Says:

As a whole this is not a playoff team AS A WHOLE

  7. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Arians beating his former team was no doubt HUGE for him…and the Bucs. A loss may have triggered the Fred Sanford/Jeff Tedford faux heart attack. Good job, Bucs.

  8. Figures Says:

Against the 30th ranked defense lol.

    Winston wasn’t good.

A PI gifted them a win.

NDOG hid for the whole game while Winston was tossing picks and overthrowing receivers all game. And pops in with “game winning drive”

Please. If we had a better QB it would’ve been a Bucs blowout.
You are scum. You say Winston won the game but when he craps all over himself you blame everyone else.

You are the worst kind of homer. Pathetic loser.

  9. SteveK Says:

Not impressed. Good win. But we suck.

  10. Snook Says:

Even before today the games against the Falcons were gonna be losses. They have a QB who will throw all over us. Jameis will turn the ball over like he always does and Ryan will make them pay.

  11. Unimpressed Says:

What a meaningless win. I’d rather get a top 3 pick considering the season’s already over for us.

  12. VA Tom Says:

Sheesh, Ronald Jones was also the leading receiver for about half the game. But yeah, I guess if you hate him you just mention one dimension of the game. Sorta like Jameis’s inability to not stare down his receivers, but you will only mention his fabulous play LOL. I do think Jameis is doing better, but you guys are putting your heads up your rear ends with the bias.

  13. SteveK Says:

Jameis played replaceable football today. Can’t pay $25-$30 million a year for the turnovers. Nope. Can’t do it. Not unless we want to keep
    Losing.

  14. ModHairKen Says:

This is what growth looks like. Every area has room to improve, including Arians with his idiotic challenge.

  15. Bucc941 Says:

We absolutely deserved to win this game.

  16. Lee's eye doctor Says:

Wonder how long this article would have been if we lossed 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  17. H8JWLveBucs Says:

Need a better QB plain and simple as they said after the second int “this why ur 2-6

  18. Lamarcus Says:

Good win Bucs. Dean is the man!!!

  19. VA Tom Says:

Bruce Arians insistence on throwing a challenge once per game for unwinnable PI reviews is getting friggin old. Can’t believe we somehow won. But it was a fun game to root for. However, damn we are bad.

  20. firethecannons Says:

What a focking struggle, my lord it was hard to watch. Bruce Arians needs a handler way more than Winston. BA sux!–sad but true!
With all that said, proud of our Bucs, love our pass rush! Even without sacks we were all over Murray in the 4th! That was fun fun fun to watch.
Honest–I turned it off sometimes–we must of forced a david johnson fumble during one of those times and that prevented a sure score for them. Wow–I need a sedative and my pressure meds!

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Barber did not outplay Jones. Jones had double his total yards.

    I’ll take the win!

  22. lambchop Says:

These coaches are horrible at game management. No surprise there. Jameis Winston played sloppy and could have been picked off a few more times. But, I’ll enjoy the win. F the draft. No one player is going to fix this team. They need to build confidence now, not wait around for someone to serve it to them. What’s the point of having a top 5 pick if they don’t know what it takes to win?

  23. Colorado Says:

If we lost this game we’d have the 6th pick in the draft.
Now we stay put at the 8th spot.

Another meaningless win which does nothing but stop us from getting potential superstars.

But hey- when we miss out on Burrow, Tagovailoa, Young, and/or Delpit at least we’ll be able to console ourselves with this victory.

  24. Pewter power Says:

As a whole the commentors or here are straight up mentally not well. We did not deserve to win a game because we made mistakes? We does that not happen in ANY football game morons.

  25. LongSeason Says:

Quite surprised we won the game. I am in complete shock. I’ll give it up for the team this week. Next week? We’ll see.
Can someone tell Arians to have a safe on the sideline. When you run out of challenges, the challenge flag goes into the vault. That way you don’t lose a timeout or get a 15 yeard unsportsman-like conduct penalty.

  26. H8JWLveBucs Says:

Now watch how the teams acts like they played a hell of a game

  27. Jean Lafitte Says:

Could it be New Orleans was looking past Atlanta. Now they’ll come into RayJay focused on a win.

  28. Don_RyJo(e) Says:

I’m with ‘Pragmatic-Joe’ (it never ceases to amuse me how diametrically opposed the Joes are) and I’m not seeing a win; I’m seeing the Bucs needlessly slide down the 2020 draft order. #top5orbust

  29. The Ghost of Leeman Bennett Says:

Even though BA might have had a point (that was as much offensive PI as it was defensive PI) you simply cannot throw the challenge on that, you need that challenge. Bucs were scrappy today, but I am not impressed with the coaching staff. Bucs played hard though and I credit them for it, they earned this ugly win.

  30. Adrnagy Says:

We won ! Let’s put acouple in a row baby …. the rest of you negative ppl go and cheer for the browns.

  31. Troy Says:

Not only did we deserve to lose, but this game confirms that Winston needs to go. He’s a terrible Quarterback. He single-handedly made the Cardinals pass defense look like the legion of boom. The guy is a backup QB at best in this league.

  32. Easy Says:

“Played down to our opponents” LMFAO they played down to us! A bad football team just squeaked out a victory over a mediocre team.

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

It has been so long I forgot what it felt like to get a win. Keep that one third win result going Bucs.

  34. Mike Johnson Says:

Come on Guys..The football Gods were kind to us today..We finally won one!
AZ played hard and they do have their QB for the future. That little runt is going to be real good one day. We won..by any means necessary. And we needed this one for the fans, media and Tampa Bay.

  35. Cubano Bucanero Says:

Whatever man, they won! This team has to learn how to win. Not keep losing. Culture doesn’t change with draft picks.

  36. TexBuc Says:

Deserved has nothing to do with it! We did not deserved to loose by a blown call or a missed field goal in two other games.

    We won!

  37. MadMax Says:

Guys were fighting for this win, and i admire that. Had it not been for the INT near the end from DEAN (Great job JD), this wouldve been a different story.

But BA is showing his age, especially in trusting Leftwich!!! That experiment just isnt working!

  38. Ricordo Says:

Call me crazy but it felt like eating ice cream with a fork.

  39. Capt. Tim Says:

Fun to watch our pass rush. Secondary got a lil redemption.
2 ints, 1 fumble. Pretty sure winston has locked up the Turnover category for the year.
No chance at playoffs. We beat a bad team
Winning always feels good, but its a meaningless victory, for a bad team- that needs high draft picks a lot more than it needed this win.
Lose when we need to win, then win when we need to lose.

    Yup. Its a Bucs life

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If the Bucs were to tank, good luck getting Suh, JPP and Barrett to re-sign.

Bucs were 1-7 at the halfway point in Dungy’s first year. No one wanted to tank that year. Thankfully.

  41. H8JWLveBucs Says:

Its always some excuse why we should have won or lost. Look at the way the team and coaches play. IT’S NOT ABOUT WINNING OR LOSING ITS HOW U WIN OR LOSE!!!!!!!!!

  42. H8JWLveBucs Says:

IT’S NOT ABOUT WINNING OR LOSING ITS HOW U WIN OR LOSE!!!!!!!!!

  43. Adrnagy Says:

Murray choke the last two drives. Int and then blows time away.

I thought the Bucs were going to give up after Murray’s knee down play. But dean and the defense stood up.

Winston played good. Oline shaky. WR good except acouple. But I feel we will get sync in.

    Dean. Davis. Bunting.Whitehead. Looks good.

  44. Colorado Says:

The football gods were NOT kind to us today. The smart move would be to tank for better players, but B.A. isn’t interested in the future. He’s just looking to get Leftwich and Bowles HC jobs again.

  45. lambchop Says:

    @Jean,

Why would they look past a division opponent, especially when looking past Atlanta meant looking at the Bucs? Lol. C’mon man.

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Those blaming Leftwich…consider that most of the issues you think are on him are when Bruce jumps in and takes control.

  47. That Guy Says:

America’s Turnover Machine had two more picks to stay atop the rankings of QBs with the most turnovers in the NFL.

  48. lambchop Says:

All you draft crybabies, nobody is turning this team around from the draft. We’re the 2nd youngest team already. We need proven vets.

  49. Adrnagy Says:

Every game remaining looks very winnable.
    10-6 baby.

    Let’s rack them up. Jpp

  50. Jean Lafitte Says:

the trick Ricordo is to eat it while it’s still frozen lol

  51. Jean Lafitte Says:

    lambchop

    true …lol

  52. Colorado Says:

Buccaneer Bonzai that Dungy team also had 2 HOFers and other greats such as Hardy Nickerson, Alstott, Lynch, Donnie Abraham, etc.

You cannot tell me this team right now has any HOFers or stars like that.

  53. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

A loss today may have been the beginning of the end of the BA era. Good on them for not giving up as Murray was driving to go up by 11.

  54. SteelStudBuc Says:

Yes Americas Turnover Machine is consistent…
Yes he racks up large yardage totals… but what Winston Lovers don’t take into account is… points off turnovers. How many of Tampas total points allowed since he came into the league? This is a large percentage. Very large. On 93 or 94 turnovers… how many points u might ask???

  55. Bucsace Says:

Winston did nothing to further his cause today

  56. TombsEN Says:

I can’t say that we have a sorry fan base as a whole based on some incompetent posters…the more incompetent the louder the person usually is. I don’t understand this fixation with draft position or wanting a rookie QB….does Winston have his flaws, no doubt but I would much rather have a bestie rookie RT and then go RB and defense the rest of the draft in any order. The draft is a crapshoot and losers play for the draft.

  57. Jean Lafitte Says:

    Thank you Jamel Dean

  58. Wesley Says:

These were two really bad teams.

  59. Cgmaster27 Says:

@figures and the rest of the trolls. jameis stats dont matter we won! Remember how every good game he has that we lose ,”stats dont matter!”,is all we hear. Thats all you say, so it works both ways. We won, and you all can do nothing but hate.

  60. Cubano Bucanero Says:

that Dungy team also had 2 HOFers and other greats such as Hardy Nickerson, Alstott, Lynch, Donnie Abraham, etc.

Oh! You knew they were gonna be hof’ers in 96 did you?

  61. Bucc941 Says:

Dude put up 358 yards and some idiot says he made the Cardinals D look like the legion of boom after a game winning drive??? It’s a Buccs life.

  62. Troy Says:

I can’t wait to see how bad Jay-Miss is against a real defense next week. I don’t know what he’s doing out there, but it’s not playing QB.

  63. CitruscountyBUC Says:

God the BUC fan base is so freaking negative. Just take a win enjoy it and go back to your regular jobs tomorrow. If you all we do damn smart about football you would be the GM. Shut up and just enjoy it for what it is.

  64. SteelStudBuc Says:

That’s a lot of work to dig up this information but I’m sure someone has the time to find out how many points off turnovers from Winston… this season alone… right Joe your boy is a machine

  65. Allbuccedup Says:

I think they should make JPP player defensive head coach his running the “D” not Bowles.

  66. Jean Lafitte Says:

so says the passive citrus county fan

  67. Rotten Amiigo Says:

In all the negativity posted. I will say I loved seeing JPP Rip into people on the sideline.

  68. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’ve never had a worse taste in my mouth after a win.

Having said that I still see lots of promise in this team…except at QB. I think I’ve had enough of JW.

I won’t go all hyperbolic but the stats the broadcast guys put up tell it all. I think JW has made significant improvement this year yet still his games have been wildly inconsistent.

Get past the turnovers…here is what get me…he had ME13 open for a potential TD…Perriman open for a potential TD and then he misses a simple wheel route to the explosive Logan.

JW simply leaves far too many points off the board when it really counts.

  69. Discobeef Says:

Of course Winston always has good numbers; look who he is throwing to?
Even Ryan GRiffin would be putting up +250 a game with Evans and Godwin running routes for him

  70. 813bucboi Says:

Great team win…dean saved BAs @$$….

    GO BUCS

  71. Bucyou Says:

Make no mistake. The Bucs are AWFUL.

  72. LongSeason Says:

I was just talking to Rocket and he said, “You Buc fans got issues.”

  73. Jean Lafitte Says:

    14 losing seasons no duh

  74. BucsBandit Says:

Kyler Murray SAVED WINSTON in this game with that terrible throw and INT when they were about to ice the game with a 2 score lead.

If it’s not for that INT, the Bucs lose and regardless of Winston’s stats, anyone that watched the game knows how bad Jameis played today.

  75. passthebuc Says:

Calling that exhibition 2nd rate is a complement

  76. stpetebucsfan Says:

Is this team one player away from a SB.

Now that perhaps you’ve stopped laughing consider playing for draft position….ONE player…perhaps a little better odds in the second round and THAT’S IT.

I’m tired of watching losing. ONE or even two higher picks will NOT determine this team’s future…OVERALL the draft will influence our future but it shouldn’t be crapshoot for ONE player.

  77. tnew Says:

If Ronald Jones doesn’t fumble the ball without getting hit, Kyler Murray doesn’t have to throw an INT…. can do this all day long.

Bucs win! 90 yard game winning drive because:
1: Dean makes a great break and has the INT
2: Winston completed some nice passes and the players around him stepped up
3: The Defense pressured Murray into making some tough throws
4: The refs didn’t call INT on Dean on the last throw after calling it on VHIII which wasn’t..

    Take the win

  78. tnew Says:

Sorry call PI on Dean sorry

  79. BucsBandit Says:

    TAKE THE WIN? WHY? LOL.

We just went from the 4th overall pick in the draft to now 8th or 9th.

We need to draft a new QB if we’re ever going to get back to the Super Bowl.

You “moral victory” Bucs fans that don’t see the bigger picture are such a JOKE.

  80. firethecannons Says:

Bucsace is right, we need to draft a new QB that is less turnover prone , cant afford Winston anyway as we will need to open the vault in free agency

  81. DeathWalker40 Says:

Wow. I am stunned big time. No not about the game but some fans. Take the win people. You keep on wanting to lose so we can draft someone. They you cry that we cant draft??? I have a feeling that you just want something to complain about. Cardinals were on a 3 game winning streak and getting better every week. This team has alot to improve but you know what else is funny> Winston set a record today. The only Buc to throw for over 300 yards in 4 or 3 (i think its 4) straight games. Yes Jaimes has to stop with the turnovers but JOE is right put half of the QBs in this league on this team and it could even be worse. So everyone have a safe rest of the weekend and GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  82. Boltsfan17 Says:

Meaningless win against a bad team that just hurts draft position. Should be Burrow or bust.

  83. BiggestBUCSfaninNC Says:

The hell with all of you that don’t want to win, bunch of sorry ass bitches

  84. Defense Rules Says:

The Bucs won, and started off this second half of the season 1-0. Newsflash Bucs’ fans … THAT’S A GOOD THING. Did we deserve to win? You bet your ass we did.

Yes our offense committed 3 turnovers. THAT sucks, BUT … they did a lot of good things. Enough to overcome the Pos & win. Jameis threw for 358 yards & it looks like we rushed for another 118 yards on 26 rushes (4.5 YPC). More importantly, the Bucs OC finally figured out that the Bucs TEs & RBs really do have some value (16 receptions between those 2 groups alone). Our offense also held onto the ball for a tad over 36 minutes, got 26 first downs, went 7-for-15 on 3rd down conversions, and were 3-of-4 on Red Zone attempts. Not in the AWESOME category, but pretty darned good.

And the Bucs defense also did pretty darned good today. Held the Cardinals to 1-of-4 on Red Zone attempts for starters, and got them to cough up 2 turnovers, one very critical near the end of the 4th qtr (the Cards had only 4 TOs in 9 games before that). Limited them to 75 yards rushing and, most impressively to me, they limited the Cards to 1-of-10 on 3rd down conversions.

Matt Gay had a big game, going 3-for-3 on FGs and 3-for-3 on XPs. That’s huge, because in previous years, missing just one of those could’ve easily meant a loss instead of a win.

So for a change, let’s celebrate a win instead of moaning that we probably hurt our draft position. I for one want to see what this team is really made out of in this second half of the season. That’s the only way to get a good feel about who to retain & who to let walk in building next year’s team. Personally I want to see us play for a Super Bowl in Tampa on Feb 7th, 2021.

  85. tnew Says:

BB you are right… Bucs need to lose out this season, then they can address the line. Then lose all their games next season then draft Lawrence. Then lose all of their games the next season so that….

Just keep losing games. Sounds like a great idea.

This team needs to get better… way better at every position. They need to learn to win and to play. The secondary needs to learn how to close out games. Devin White needs to learn how to take over the leadership role on this team.

This team just came off of the biggest nightmare of a road schedule it has ever seen. No players or coaches ever had to deal with it. They showed growth last week vs Seattle today is a game they typically lose.

No such thing as meaningless wins when the other team is playing hard.

  86. BucsBandit Says:

    Defense Rules, NOPE, sorry.

I’m not going to celebrate a meaningless win we didn’t deserve against the 30TH RANKED DEFENSE in the NFL, and one of the worst teams in the league with a rookie QB.

These meaningless wins don’t do anything but HURT the team long-term. Kyler Murray’s horrible decision to throw up that INT bailed Winston out of a game where he played terrible all game with the exception of some moments here and there.

This team MUST move on from Jameis Winston. This is yet another ‘easy game to misinterpret’ as a positive in some way for Winston. So yet another possible misleading turd that may lead towards the Bucs being dumb enough to keep Winston after the season.

  87. Boltsfan17 Says:

Some of you need to learn when a win is important and when it’s not. To blindly root for a win regardless of the ultimate future outcome is just intellectually lazy.

  88. orlbucfan Says:

If Brian Arians’ crummy offensive gameplan had decided this game, Bucs would have lost, and there would have been a major riot in the locker room. LDV making the final decisive turnover which led to the win, AGAIN sent a major signal. What’s with the constant running up the middle on first down???? Who’s calling that one? A bozo with the start of Alzheimers, and it’s not Leftwich. I notice the Cards offense did a lot of 2-minute type calls on offense. Where was that one for the Bucs?? Jameis kills on those type of calls. ME13 skipped around today on vacation. Brate and OJ? At least, OJ made his presence felt. I am so over Arians’ hot air. Let BL call the game and pull Arians. BA is more like BAss.

Buccaneer Bonzai that Dungy team also had 2 HOFers and other greats such as Hardy Nickerson, Alstott, Lynch, Donnie Abraham, etc.

Whyche handed that ignorant one dimensional clown a great roster which dingy the clown wasted for 6 years….

  90. Cubano Bucanero Says:

We’ve literally had top 6 picks for 10 years! Lol and you guys want more?? Learning how to win no matter the opponent or how is much more important. Ask the ‘96 team

  91. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

I told you! Jamel Dean is going to be a cornerstone DB for the Buccaneers for many years. 8 PDs in 2 weeks, more than any other Bucs have all season.

  92. BA FAN Says:

Jamel Dean will become an All Pro Cover Corner for this team in time, thanks to Licht picking him and BA developing him!

  93. Discobeef Says:

Anyone who sits inside watching football on a sunday afternoon hoping their team loses needs a psychologist.
