Newton Won’t Play Sunday

October 8th, 2019

No go.

Joe isn’t sure if this is good news or bad news.

Stinking Panthers quarterback pouty Cam Newton will not make the trip to London, Carolina coach Riverboat Ron Rivera told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network today.

Of course, the Bucs “host” the Stinking Panthers in London on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Tampa time.

In Week 2 the Bucs pounded Newton on national television winning a close game. Shortly thereafter, it was revealed Newton was playing with an injury.

Three days ago, a picture of Newton popped up on Twitter showing him wearing a walking boot.

Of course with the Bucs’ history in the post-Chucky era of getting slapped around regularly by backup quarterbacks, including twice this season, Joe isn’t sure if Newton staying in the States is a good thing or a bad thing.

Cool…9:30 start…can pretend we are Californians …I envy that time zone for sports and the stock market….still have time left in the day after the finish or close

  3. Clean House Says:

I got sucked into watching cam Newton’s self funded reality series….. He and McCoy are perfect for each other. I strongly advise checking it on YouTube.
This guy has lost it, he is transitioning right before our eyes. He now identifies as some sort of Rock star/ fashion model/ diva/ they them.

QB is not his main concern….poor panthers…

  4. bucnole Says:

Wish he was playing. . . nothing better than seeing that little Biotch make excuses. . . #effscam

Would love to humiliate him in London……guess we’ll have to wait till next year to beat him again.

Panthers will want revenge….we’d better be ready Sunday.

  12. OBP Says:

Well considering our history of making back ups and rookie look like stars I can correctly estimate that we doomed Sunday.

I duuno but I don’t see the Aunt Jemima look coming back any time soon.

  14. Tye Says:

Kyle Allen will be 4-0 come Sunday afternoon…
Panthers were embarrassed in front of the nation the last meeting and now look to avenge that by embarrassing the Bucs in front of the world.. sounds about right for the Bucs!

  15. Jmon300@gmail.com Says:

No way we got this game! Going into the bye 3-3 !

  16. ElioT Says:

    Shouldn’t matter!

The defense must feast on the Panthers.

The offense must generate a game plan to mitigate Keuchly and that poser #93.

Shut McCaffery down and force the rookie to beat you, it’s what good teams do.

    Defining game for the Bucs.

    Put up or shut up.

    Who has the “marbles”?

    Let’s go!

  17. unbelievable Says:

We will keep CMC in check. But KA will light up our secondary.

Jameis will have to put up over 32+ points for us to win. Apparently that’s the standard or else you’re a bad QB.

  18. Wesley Says:

    Who’s that old black lady?

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Question: isn’t it a home game for the Panthers as well?

  20. Rayjay1122 Says:

    Panthers 42 Bucs 20

  21. Defense Rules Says:

Unbelievable … It would be nice if the TEAM put up 32 points, but believe it or not, the Bucs aren’t ALL ABOUT JAMEIS. The team … and Jameis … do MUCH better when they ALL play solid football. When they don’t, Jameis is rarely the one to lift them to victory, because … they usually lose when they play bad as a team.

In 5 games this year, the Bucs OFFENSE has played really well in ONE game, against the Rams, did fairly well against the Giants, and adequately against the Panthers. In ALL 3 GAMES we won the turnover battle AND the TOP battle, and won 2 out of the 3 games (we SHOULD have won the Giants game IMO, but managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory). We lost both the turnover battle AND the TOP battle in the 49ers game & the Saints game, and lost both games.

It sounds simplistic I know, but winning the turnover battle and the TOP battle are fairly decent measures of how well the TEAM is playing. Teams that win both win around 80% of the time it seems. I’ll take that.

  22. BucsBandit Says:

Bucs better hope WILL GRIER doesn’t get to play or he’ll torch us.

Bucs should have drafted Grier in the 3rd round back in April.

  23. Taylor Says:

Always love seeing Scam Newton making an excuse to lose. What a bummer he’s not making the trip

  24. Doctor Stroud Says:

A second string QB? A second year QB? What could go wrong? Yes, Kyle Allen has the potential of going all “Case Keenum” (also a Houston product) and play like an All Pro, All World, Hall of Famer against this defense, but I still predict a Bucs win!

  25. SB Says:

Tampa Bay………The game Every back up QB in the league circles on his schedule to earn a payday.

  26. SB Says:

Also we shut down CMC once. Worst of his career I believe.

    Nobody does that twice.

  27. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    That picture is freakin hilarious

  28. Ndog Says:

This is horrible news as the only reason our defense was able to stop the Panthers is because Newton couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. And does anyone want to have that same argument we had in the off-season about the rankings of QBs in our division? Newton sucked all year and last year, Ryan leads the NFL in picks sooooooo. And again this is not revisionist history as I said exactly this in the off-season. Yeah thought so and Jameis doesn’t even have this offense down 100% yet. You people have no idea what you are talking about, like always.

  29. unbelievable Says:

    @Defense-

sorry man I didn’t use my sarcasm font. I agree with your post 100%, just having some fun.

But that 32 isn’t far off… We averaging giving up 29.6 ppg right now. Panthers game was the only game we held a team under 31.

And I know, 14 of those points during week 1 were on the offense, not our D.

It’s a team game for sure. We lost last week primarily in the trenches, both sides of the ball. I hope that doesn’t happen again but I have little faith. The backend of our defense has been a liability every week (we were very lucky to play a hobbled Cam).

  31. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    “Who has the “marbles?”

Yes, Cammie has lost her marbles. Will the finder please call the lost and found.

This game I suggest someone please block Kuechly.

I used to love morning football when I lived in Oregon. Roll out of bed, drink some coffee, eat some breakfast, read a little news and then east coast NFL football.

  32. SB Says:

Matt Gay is the #2 kicker in FF
Chris Godwin is the #1 WR in FF
Jameis Winston is the #10 QB in FF
Mike Evans is the # 8 WR in FF

WTF is Wrong with the rest of the team?……….

  35. MadMax Says:

Panthers will be Tampa/London ready….we’ll probably lose by 10+….they want revenge, and we all know our luck against backup QB’s…smh!

  36. MadMax Says:

Hope im wrong Greg, believe that….but after that saints game, i cant even count on good play calling and decent refereeing.

    BAD NEWS.

The Panthers LOST THEIR LAST 8 GAMES WITH CAM NEWTON … but are 3-0 with Kyle Allen this year as he can actually throw a football.

It goes both ways there pal. If I have to read 4th best QB in the division all off season you better damn well believe I’m going to remind all the clueless ones of their blantaly wrong posts. Don’t like it don’t be wrong/clueless.

The people who backed Glennon said the same things at the time. Do not remember you at the time but many were laughing, not laughing now though.

    Glennon backer points:

    1. No offensive line
    2. No running game
    3. Secondary leaky
    4. No weapons

Oh wait… this team has all-star weapons though.

  47. ElioT Says:

If you people want to compare Cam to Jameis…

All I can say is, with all Winston’s faults, he obviously wants to win and is 100% about football.

Cam is done, he’s trying to build some sh*tty “brand” because he knows it. That guy is a f**king joke. Just watch a minute of his latest YouTube video.

Horrific example of a real leader or even a man, and a damn shame considering the fame, adoration and impact he could have made on today’s youth.

    Guys a total d-canoe.

Not saying Jameis is the answer, but I’d rather have him 8 days a week than this Primadonna, walking (limping), sorry sack of extreme wasted talent.

Joe pretty much had the same impression on Newton but you may be surprised. Go watch “All or Nothing” on Amazon with Carolina. Behind the scenes Newton sure seems to be far different than his public image. He really does come across as a team leader and not a bad dude.

Yes, fully understand that series is well-edited.

One thing that jumped out at Joe in the series was Carolina’s offense couldn’t get a play down in practice. Newton carps on his teammates, “C’mon guys! If we can’t get this play down in practice, what makes you think we can make it work in a game? Let’s do it again.”

Hate to say it, but Newton came off with a much better image in that series than he has ever shown publicly.

  49. Howard Cosell Says:

This is terrible news. Cam is garbage and Bucs only have a chance against him.

  51. unbelievable Says:

    @mh1023 –

Uh, I was definitely NOT a member of the MGM.

He had Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson for weapons, not exactly bad.

He also couldn’t complete a pass over 20 yards, and was a statue back there….

  52. lambchop Says:

I get the negativity and humour on sh|tting on our home team, but it’s really sad. I mean, we go bonkers when they win and hate on our team when they lose to the point that we predict more losses.

Doesn’t this resonate with the GM, ownership, and coaches? If the players and coaches wear a sanitary napkin to this game, I’m about done with this team.

  53. Mike Johnson Says:

Ohhhh boy..Actually Newton not playing is really bad news for us. I don’t need to remind us..We are Outstanding at giving rookie and backup QB’s their reputations as winners.
