Jameis Winston Earns 2nd Career Offensive Player Of The Week Award

October 2nd, 2019

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, has brought home another national honor.

The NFL made it official this morning. Jameis is your NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

His four touchdown passes led the NFL in Week 4. It was Jameis’ fifth game with at least four touchdown passes, surpassing Brad Johnson for the most career games in Tampa Bay history.

Jameis last one the award in Week 1 of the 2016 season, when the Bucs rolled the Falcons in Atlanta on opening day. A big play in that game was Austin Seferian-Jenkins laying out for a Jameis bomb in the back of the end zone.

Joe remembers that well. Joe calls it the red-flag game. On the Buccaneers Radio Network the following day, Seferian-Jenkins, who already had become a bit of an outcast among teammates, spoke about what he did after that victory. He said he spent the night hanging out at home with Noah Spence and Doug Martin. Joe’s initial reaction was why is a rookie with a drug history like Spence has hanging out with a veteran in Martin (who had his own drug issues during the Schiano era) and ASJ, who was exhibiting bizarre behavior. Unfortunately, the rest is sad Bucs history for those three.

Kudos to Jameis for his award. He earned it.

  4. BucInCLE Says:

I’m not getting my hopes up, but if Jameis were to blossom into an MVP-caliber QB…this is what the transformation would look like.

  5. ocala Says:

I hope the Bucs are working on a deal with Jamies now rather than waiting until after the season is over and having to pay top dollar.

    Same for Shaq Barrett.

Unfortunately the Bucs can not extend Godwin until after the season is over.

  6. Lheew Says:

    Suck it haters.

  7. BucAllNight Says:

11 WINS and playoffs for Bucs

  8. SmoothBayRider Says:

“Jameis last one the award ? “ Cmon Joes ! That looks pretty bad !

  9. orlbucfan Says:

No offense to Fameis, but I wish Ungodly Godwin won it. GO MIGHTY BUCS!!

  10. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’m happy for JW! Too bad it couldn’t have been a co award because in a normal week Godwin would have been in the running.

But I am NOT diminishing #3’s achievement…just lifting another Buc and ultimately it’s all good.

So can someone explain to the blog snowflake all the freaking hatred…not of JW but of each other?

I totally get happiness for JW. I also understand satisfaction at appearing right in the debate…but here is what I do not understand.

When Trump won I can’t recall how many times a supporter said not that Trump was a great guy but they were THRILLED that libtards were apoplectic. Really? Why not be thrilled with the positive instead of the negative. Why not say Trump is going to be great for the country instead of simply enjoying what is perceived as someone else’s misery.

Same is true with the JW debate. I’m thrilled for JW..athletically and personally he seems to have grown into a fine young man.
I’m glad for what it means to the Buc and their fans.

Why would I take joy in his detractors discomfort. Would that make us win more games? Would it mean the Bucs tender JW a new contract. NO It is truly meaningless except to make me feel powerful…except it doesn’t for me at least. YMMV But if being correct once on a sports blog is really where I take my validation…that’s just sad.

As the man once said….”Can’t we all get along”.

Now after taking the high road I’ll prove I’m human…
I wrote all of this to make TMAX choke on his oatmeal this morning. OK that was a JOKE.

jameis has been making haters eat crap sandwiches at pretty decent pace this year but what happens next week when jameis scores over 30 points again with limited mistakes but the defense gets punked again giving up over 30pts as we watch the midget chasing receivers all day, my question is will it be all jameis fault once again.

    813

you need to beg that little fella vh3bust you defend so much to stay home sick sundy. maybe play with batman dolls…. The MIDGET Chaser SUCKS! qb’s are completed over 90% against the little guy. Number 1 cb my arse… he is what I have been saying he is a complete and utter waste of time.

  12. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @DB55

I haven’t forgot you bro…..I’m almost as excited for you as I am #3. Congrats!

  13. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

    “My Dad overheard

that JWs agency is videotaping the Saints game and sending copies out to each Glazer owners

Dak Prescott is rumored to sign a 35-40 mill per contract but couldnt score a TD nor defeat the saints at NO with a playoff team

Now if JW defeats the Saints at NO and plays geat again….”

  14. TampaTown Says:

Nice to get some national recognition. Congratulations young man!!

  15. July Joe Says:

Should be his THIRD such award … WHO won it the week Jameis, as a 21 year old rookie, hung 5 TD passes and a beat-down on the Eagles, in 2015? That was the greatest rookie QB in NFL history? Who beat him out that week?

  16. July Joe Says:

^ That was the greatest rookie QB “game” in NFL history is what I mean to say.

  17. Bucsfanman Says:

Great job Jameis! Keep up the good work!

  18. Allbuccedup Says:

Needs to put a few games in a row with no major mistakes, then I say sign him long term.

  19. webster Says:

    @ joe

You need to write an article about the oline break down that brian baldy did. It showed how jameis was able to make throws from a clean pocket. It also further illustrates why this coaching staff is light years ahead of any one the bucs have had in a long time.

  20. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Offensive player of the week in a contract year is huuuuuge!

@Kobe I think you’re right about the NO game to be used as a measuring stick.
Poor cowgirl’s, it would make me sick to think that they would have to pay Prescott 35-40M per year. Cowgirls are a very profitable business and Jerry can certainly afford it but they have the same number of cap dollars to spend as any other team. If they spend that much on Dak, the defense, OL and other players (Amari Cooper) will suffer and leave.

If I were the Bucs, I would offer Jameis $25M per (4) year and guarantee as much as possible. Maybe, they get the home town discount.

  21. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

    “Mr Ghost

I believe that $25 mill is a great number

8 home games will be state tax free here in FL

and this accepting home discount will really help his reputation nationally and to corporate america”

  22. Who Cares Says:

@July Joe. I was at that game is Philly. A friend sold me his season ticket seats. He knew I was a Bucs fan. Took a daughter and future son-in-law. We had upper end zone seats. Jameis was amazing that day. It was a blast. Eagles fan were “entertaining”. Haha. Therein lies the genesis of the frustration of a lot of Bucs fans. That was a long time and many ups and downs ago. I don’t dislike Jameis and hope he does well and my Bucs do well. Just golding my breath and waiting to see if BA can make this new Jameis permanent.

  23. RustyRhinos Says:

Show us the win loss results at the end of the season then talk about how many awards you won during the season. As long as we have the leader in turnovers & fumbles since 2014 we should all be for waiting till the end of the season results to decide on any new contract. Four seasons of up, up, down, down, up, up, down, up play does not instill much confidence. Not until it is done game after game after game. The end results of wins and losses should be a major factor in a new contract. Yes I know our QB does not play defense, what he does have is a record of throwing dimes to the opposing team. Even in this game two passes directly into the opposing teams DB’s hands, one was caught and the other was dropped. It is what it is, but it sure is difficult to reach the postseason with to many int’s to many fumbles from the QB. I like what we have seen the past few games. SO KEEP SHOWING ME! Not telling me.
    GO BUCS!!

  24. D-Rome Says:

Good for him. Well deserved. The most impressive stat over the past three games is 2 INTs and 0 fumbles.

  25. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

“8 home games will be state tax free here in FL”

Kobe, I thimk you meant 11 home games next year.

  26. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Good for him ! he deserves it !…keep it up Jameis !

  27. D-Rome Says:

jameis has been making haters eat crap sandwiches at pretty decent pace this year

Derrick Brooks was a first ballot Hall of Famer, Defensive Player of the Year, Super Bowl winner, 11x Pro Bowler, 5x First Team All Pro, 2x Player of the Month, and 6x Player of the Week yet you call him a “career backup” who won a bunch of “meaningless awards.”

Jameis Winston wins Player of the Week and you’re like “HeS tHe ThIrD GrEaTeSt PlAyEr In BuCs HiStOrY!!!!!”

You really are something else at times! Such an odd take from you considering there has been many games where Jameis has single handedly lost for this team. It’s very strange you don’t hold him to the same exact standard you have held every other Buccaneer in team history. What was your major at FSU?

  28. TexBuc Says:

    Congrats Winston

  29. tmaxcon Says:

    D-Rome

damn dude you read a lot into my post that is simply not there…

remind me how many playoff wins 55 and barber had without sapp’s coattails to ride… they hung on way to long for one year wonders…. 1 good year pal you can’t rewrite history….

if i was a lowly public school graduate from FSU would i be taking shots at 55???? think a little sir!!!!!

  30. 813bucboi Says:

    tmax

    we’re winning with him…..without him were 1-3…..

i know you’re mad…..VHG is making you eat big time crow!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  31. Pittsshore Says:

But get ready Joe. He is at the top of the Cheetah coaster at Busch Gardens and the drop is coming soon. His hands will be rapidly going up in the air…without the football. Bad first game. Game manager in game two. Good first half in game three. Great game four. The real Apples McGoo will soon be making an appearance

  32. D-Rome Says:

remind me how many playoff wins 55 and barber had without sapp’s coattails to ride… they hung on way to long for one year wonders

    Haha!

Can you remind me how many winning seasons the Raiders had with Sapp leading their defense, or how many pro bowls he had with the Raiders?

  33. Cgmaster27 Says:

Ahh there you are pittstain, you were awful quiet for a couple of days. It was nice not reading the rambels of a troll. Hows that humble pie?

  34. firethecannons Says:

Joe–so right on that Spence, DM22 and ASJ connection
A sober person would never hang with an alcoholic and a druggie–very telling about Spence. And now they are all out of the league or on the way out.

  35. unbelievable Says:

    Lol t max

Hey at least you weren’t complaining for 1 full afternoon this week. I guess that’s… progress?

  36. Sheridan Says:

Congratulations Jameis! Wow, I am so proud of you, but it’s hard for me to watch you play because I be on edge the whole time. Lol We miss you, and don’t be a stranger when you come to town. As always, I do keep you and your family in prayer. 🙏❤️🙏

  37. #1bucsfan Says:

Get him D-ROME. But honestly don’t waste your time with that troll. The dude has something wrong upstairs.

  38. Joe Says:

    Game manager in game two.

LOL Dude throws for four touchdowns and nearly 400 yards and he’s “game manager.”

  39. Pittsshore Says:

Game two Joe. Can you not read? I understand you have grammatical errors but you have got to be able to read and comprehend

  40. Roh Says:

You just can’t keep Noah name out your article you are a straight races all you do is write negative stuff about young black men Even when they are not on the team no more
