“He’s Taking Over The League”

October 2nd, 2019

Getting props.

See what happens when the Bucs beat up on a team in Lipstick City? They get love from all sorts of places.

And one source is Kyle Brandt of NFL Network. The co-host of “Good Morning Football” believes if not for the play of a certain pass-rushing linebacker, the Bucs very well may have been the forgotten Bucs.

But thanks to Shaq Barrett, the Bucs, at least for this week, are the talk of football.

“He’s taking over the league,” Brandt said of Barrett. “He is the Defensive Player of the Year right now. You can have your Aaron Donald, your Khalil Mach.

“This guy who you maybe never heard of who was undrafted out of Colorado State, Shaq Barrett, did it again [Sunday]. He is a huge reason why Tampa Bay matters. There is no defensive player in the league who is playing better than Shaq Barrett.”

Fellow co-host and closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager claimed the Broncos offered Barrett more money than the Bucs to stay in Denver but the Bucs offered Barrett playing time, which the Broncos could not do (though they sure could now with Bradley Chubb lost for the year.)

As a result, Barrett is going to bank a lot of coin in the offseason. Joe just hopes it is with the Bucs.

  2. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Wasn’t there another Colorado State outside linebacker that could rush a passer pretty good? I think his name was Joey Porter

  3. SB Says:

Real Players want to play. $ is secondary.

  4. Bucamania Says:

Shaq bet on himself and it’s paying off. Gotta respect that!

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

I understand why he left and I understand why Bronco fans would be salty after Chubb went down. They got Michael Bennett’d

    @Dewey
It’s so nice to be on the winning end of that for once lol

  8. m0j0 Says:

We need to get Jameis signed to an extension so we can potentially use the franchise tag on Shaq if they can’t ink him to a long term deal.

  9. bucnole Says:

The longer he keeps playing like this the harder it is gonna be to sign him. Take a chance and sign him now!!

  10. TOM Says:

Sign Shaq to an extension now & put the franchise tag on Winston.

Well we need to start the conversation about getting
boom shaq alacka locked up now. He learned alot from his Denver teammates/coaching and we are the beneficiaries.
I would like to see him show/teach/lead by example some of our young players like JPP did w/carl nassib.

I don’t get the sign him now comments, why?

Team has control for at least two more years with Franchise tag. He’s never played like this for a full season, let him play like this for a year then re sign or tag him. Yes, I know he was a rotational player and didn’t have the opportunities in Denver but this team needs to start being smart with player choices.

Can’t reward new contracts after 4 games. I like Shaq but doubt anything gets done during the season

  15. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Love watching him play. Every play seems like he is going to make an impact. That spin move he put on LA’s tackle was breath taking. Hope he is in a Buc’s uniform next year!
