Bobo’s Boo-Boos

October 14th, 2019

Punt on this punt returner.

Bobo Wilson entered Sunday’s game averaging an ugly 3.3 yards per return, but what has he done to keep his job?

After yesterday’s two-fumble performance, he’s down to 2.8 yards per return, which ranks 28th in the NFL among players with five or more returns this season. Adam Humphries’ worst season returning punts for the Bucs (2018), saw him average 6.6 yards per return.

Check out Bucco Bruce Arians’ take on Bobo as a punt returner.

“Nobody has taken it from him yet,” Arians said about Bobo’s job security returning punts. “That’s the problem. We’ll be looking at it.”

For some odd reason, the Bucs have a fetish for getting Bobo on the field to make more boo-boos. Why? Joe wasn’t aware any member of Team Glazer had a direct connection to Florida State. Or is this some way to appease Jameis?

Bobo has shown Joe he is barely an NFL receiver. Barely. Sure, he’s better than Scotty Miller (a glorified Arena 2 receiver currently) but that shouldn’t mean guaranteed playing time.

And Bobo is not a punt returner, sorry. The Bucs are much better off having no one return punts and add an extra man at the line to try to block a punt than have Bobo back there.

Bobo looks closer to the bad Dexter Jackson than any competent punt returner.

It’s time to punt on the idea of Bobo as a return man.

Photo of Bobo Wilson making a fair catch with an awful lot of real estate in front of him to make a play yesterday.

Why is he on our roster? He wouldn’t be on any of the other 31 teams… typical Bucs.

  2. Pewter power Says:

Not a punt returner or a receiver. Tampa is fascinated with developing garbage cheap players instead of actually being able to compete. When you get blown out by a divison rival that you play twice a year your talent is garbage and so is your talent evaluator. What it will take is this team getting their doors blown off by Atlanta Falcons before reality hits them and trust it’s coming if they continue doing nothing and playing high school talent.

  3. simsini Says:

If TJ Logan is out there for kick-offs, why doesn’t he do punt returns as well?

  4. BrianBucs Says:

Maybe Bobo had never caught punts from a left footed punter. The spin and direction the ball drifts is totally backwards.
That smart guy in New England says he always would like a left footer because it’s good for at least 4 fumbles a season.
On the other hand, Bobo just doesn’t look like an NFL player

  5. zzbuc Says:

Bobo returning punts is as lost as Adam and Eve on father´s day!!!!!

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This doesn’t excuse Bobo but our punt return blocking has been horrible all year…..Bobo is completely smothered most every time he catches (or doesn’t catch) the punts.

Also…..do we even have a backup punt returner?

And….why pick on Scotty Miller so much….seems like every article….he’s a 22 year old 6th round rookie….what do you expect…..we have had many later round WRs who haven’t made it…..he may or may not be another…but give him a chance.

    @zzbuc

    Zing!!! LMAO, good stuff.

  8. ElioT Says:

Bozo Wilson is horrible and I said the same thing yesterday Joe!

The Bucs should just put an extra man on the line to rush the punter.

It’s really depressing when Bozo is in on offense… Starting to really wonder about the offensive system here.

  9. ElioT Says:

Let’s not forget him acting the fool on Hard Knocks last year too.

    Bozo must go!!!

  10. Danny Says:

Can’t you just put someone back there to fair catch the ball?

  11. Bird Says:

This is 100 percent on coaching

How can you think he is best option
Arians himself (out of shape) could average 2.8 yards

I did lose a little respect and confidence for coaching staff after the decision to have him on field
I think everyone is 100 % united on putting him on bench permanently

  12. Nptbuc Says:

Why not put Miller back there? He is ( allegedly) a WR which means he has decent hands. He is also ( allegedly) one of the fastest guys on the team and he is small enough that maybe some guys would miss because they can’t see him behind a blocker. I say Go for it! How much did we spend to watch TJ Logan watch the ball go over his head into the end zone. Why do we pay extra for a “ kick returner” when 10% or less of modern kick offs are ever returned. Wouldn’t it be smarter to pick up and additional lineman who can block vs a kick returner? Just a few of the questions swirling through my my while watching this horror show. I have been a Buc fan since moving to the area in 1999 but it has been getting harder every year lately to even follow what is passing for professional football in the Bay Area. I’m still hanging in but they have to show something soon or I will be wearing different colors.

  13. NPRSageBoy Says:

Both Bobo and Miller need to be released. They both stink to high Heaven. If this is any indication of BA as a talent evaluator, he needs to go too and take Licht and Leftwich with him.

  14. Coburn Says:

Justin Watson must be trash if he’s behind both miller and bobo. Disappointing cause he h as the measureables. We sudden ly haced zero depth at wr. Bobo and miller are the kind of guys who should be kast guy on the roster

  15. alaskabuc Says:

Starting to look like we should have spent our money differently and found a way to pay Hump. Between having sh!t for punt returners and not a single receiver on the roster that could be confused for a league average #3, looks like Hump would have been worth the money.

  16. America's Disgrace Says:

There are two buccaneer clown’s that are FSU alumni that need to be banished from this organization. One is Bobo the Clown and we all know who the other one is… AMERICA’S DISGRACE!

  17. unbelievable Says:

Bobo should never see the field again.

He is the WORST returner in the league, and calling him a WR is a joke.

His dumbass should have been cut 3 seasons ago. Nobody knows how to hold on to subpar losers quite like the Bucs.

  18. adam from ny Says:

bobo has no second gear…let alone a first gear…

he just looks so sad on kickoffs…

he cannot dodge anyone at all…

    #NoJukeAbility

    we have no 3rd, 4th and 5th receivers…it’s really crazy…

we play with a 1and 2 and miller is the 6th

(watson is obviously a late round bust as well)

  19. adam from ny Says:

    opps…

    i meant “on punts”

  20. tmaxcon Says:

And Bobo is not a punt returner, sorry. The Bucs are much better off having no one return punts and add an extra man at the line to try to block a punt than have Bobo back there.

bobo sucks for sure but joe you could say the same thing about the offensive line. just have assistant coaches place blocking dummies while jameis calls plays in the huddle… same damn result with much less penalty yards against.

  21. tmaxcon Says:

scotty miller must have a picture of a glazer with a farm animal in a compromising position… how in the hell does that dweeb make a roster at publix much less nfl.

  22. Bucsfanman Says:

Posted on a different thread, why is he here? What has he done? Just asking for a friend.

  23. pick6 Says:

i’d rather employ Gruden’s Tim Brown strategy, sure hands and a fair catch every time. Bobo’s unreliability is too much risk for a 3.3 ypc reward

  24. DalvinCookRules Says:

At FSU, Bobo had a couple games where he dropped anything & everything thrown to him. As a punt returner, he would sometimes be spectacular, but it was rare–now in the NFL, he plays WAY TOO SCARED to ever be an effective punt returner.

I imagine he does well in practices because he doesn’t fear getting lit up, but in the games, he is really worthless.

  25. Nick2 Says:

Scotty Miller couldnt do worse. As for Miller being an Arena league talent I remember training camp where Jameis was getting it to him regularly. Cant say that about Bobo. Has Bobo ever been a rising star??? No. I say put Miller back on punts and get Justin Watson back as number 2 receiver. What happened to Watson?? He dropped a few but Wilson is small not fast and now fumbles punts or fair catches when he has 10 yards of open space in front. We cant do worse unless Scott Miller cant catch either.

  26. Nick2 Says:

Sorry Watson as number 3 receiver that was a typo obviously we have our 1 and 2 recievers lol.
