Another Schedule Gift From The Football Gods

Another dangerous player off the Bucs schedule

It’s amazing how lucky the Bucs have gotten this season when it comes to their opponents’ fortunes.

For now, they’re 2-4 despite those gifts from the football gods. But many more presents have yet to be opened.

Think about it.

The Bucs got the 49ers on opening day while Jimmy Garoppolo and Kwon Alexander were still shaking off rust and their defense had yet to become the completely dominant force it has become.

Next up was Carolina featuring a broken Cam Newton and quarterback.

Then came the changing of the Giants’ quarterback guard, Daniel Jones making his first NFL start, on the road in Tampa.

After the Bucs punished the Rams in very impressive fashion, next up was the Saints minus Drew Brees, before the Bucs got another backup QB Kyle Allen in England.

If Joe laid out those scenarios for Bucs fans in August, they’d be doing freaking cartwheels a mile down Dale Mabry Highway to the Bill Currie Ford showroom. Something better than a 2-4 record would have been expected.

Now comes the Titans with their backup quarterback and a defense that just had its worst showing of the season.

Later, it’s two games against the imploding Falcons, who just lost notorious Bucs killer Mohamed Sanu and likely will deal more quality players. And then Bucs get the Colts without Andrew Luck, the Jags minus Jalen Ramsey and now the Lions, the Bucs’ opponent Dec. 15, just lost their No. 1 running back Kerryon Johnson to knee surgery.

Joe thinks the Bucs certainly have caught their share of breaks this season. Now they have to snap out of their funk and take advantage.

None of this matters if we throw the ball to the other colored jerseys

  2. WeeManOfScots Says:

No problem at all…JayMiss will make sure the other team scores too..

  3. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

Abandon all hope ye who are Bucs fans.

  4. Oregonbucsfan Says:

“Now they have to snap out of their funk”. Joe, this “funk” has lasted for (literally) more years than I can remember. Someday they will get their act together and put together a (gasp) double-digit win record. Until then they are still the same old Bucs.
We are all Buc fans here (me since 1978), but some have a realistic out look regarding them. We are going to be funky until we are not. Unfortunately, that’s not likely this year.

  5. MadMax Says:

Yep, no run game in that one….sooooo….once again, play prevent, an in close prevent….one MLB in the center (White), and in this one, not a 4-3, a 1-3….we might be able to squeak out a win lol.

  6. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

The worst thing that could happen is if the Bucs scrape together a bunch of wins against low-quality opponents. Will be yet another year (or more) before they cut loose Licht and Winston.

  7. Nick2 Says:

And none of it helps because we take backups and make them look like they belong in the HOF. Sad sad sad…..

  8. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Bucs not only look gift horses in the mouth, they immediately take them to the glue factory while paying for the privilege to do so.

  9. 813bucboi Says:

JW vs another back up…..oh boy….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  10. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

When your QB has more turnovers (82) than games played (62) it negates any other advantages that come their way

  11. Ricky Says:

Joe, Colts are playing very good football without Luck so not sure that makes a difference.

  12. Isaac haggins Says:

@ Shart you are correct , HOWEVER Jason Licht is a complete Failure as were the Indianapolis Colts until last year and now look with decent protection And a def that can at least get off the field occasionally!!! Look at what a home floridA grown Florida Gator cast off is able to do !!! I havnt even looked but I don’t have to ,Brisset s protection has been at least avg. !!! Mean While Winston has to win the GAME,,,, Hear Me and Hear Me Real Good !!! Nothing has changed !!!! Arians said it had to change and that it would change , WELL it hasn’t and guess what ( no 100 yard runners either) Winston knows he has to win the game and you will never coach that out of him , just as it was never coached out of Farve !!! You want less turnovers get a better def and protect the dam # 1 asset on every nfl team , THE QB !!! He’ll look at the moves New England Bill has made this year to improve just that !!! Wake up people the Bucs quarterback be at whom ever he is is in the same situation he’s been in for the past five years either pull off a Rolex and win the game or you’re gonna lose. Plain and simple !

  13. Isaac haggins Says:

Heroics not Rolex , dam automation

  14. PC Says:

And all of the Bucs opponents feel that facing a farsighted QB with a hero complex as a gift.

  15. Lamarcus Says:

You have a pic of a RB. Not concern their. I’m concerned about the Qb or Wr/Qb Sanu slicing up this secondary. Easy work for opposing teams

  16. Lamarcus Says:

That missed fg against looks really bad right now

  17. Lamarcus Says:

    Against the gaints

  18. 541BucsFan Says:

    You got it backwards …

Q: What team does every backup QB want to play?

A: The Bucs. They have the 32nd ranked pass defense.

  19. gman Says:

And those teams get to play against our awful secondary, disaster of an offensive line and Jaboo….seems to be working out just great for our opponents. Anyone that is still emotionally invested in this organization is a complete tool. That is most of you.

  20. LordCornelius Says:

Of all of that the only “luck” that went in our favor was broken Cam sucking on Thursday night football & Brees not playing, but would it have mattered considering Bridgwater has been playing well and torched us?

Jimmy G/ Kwon / 49ers were legit week 1 and have been legit since. It’s not like they found themselves in week 2. Their D has been good all year including that game where they only gave up 17 points and had a pick 6….

    Daniel Jones >>>>>>>>>>>>> Eli Manning.

Kyle Allen >>> Cam Newton of the last 2 years.

And Ryan Tannehil >>>> Mariota. Give me Mariota.

Kerryon Johnson has sucked this year. Mohammad Sanu is a 3rd WR lol. And the Colts have been playing EVERYONE without Luck this year – not some unique advantage – and it’s better than any overall team Luck ever had.

  21. ClodHopper Says:

Backup QBs are not a gift. They are a curse.

And Jacoby Brissett is no one to scoff at. He’s been pretty decent. More consistent than our 5 year starter

  22. Aubpierce Says:

If the Bucs don”t run the ball forty times they lose. Can”t depend on Winston.

  23. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Does anyone remember who the Bucs went after prior to settling for Licht Weight? None other than current Colt GM Chris Ballard…who has built a beast of a roster even while losing Luck to injuries/retirement.

  24. Aceofaerospace Says:

So you’re saying 6-10 is possible.

  25. ocala Says:

There is a very high probability the Bucs are going to finish somewhere between 5-11(3-7 the rest of the way) and 9-7(7-3 the rest of the way). Even if the Bucs finish 9-7 it looks like that would not be enough to make the playoffs.
The Bucs after only six games have already blown a realistic chance of making the playoffs this year.

  26. Alanbucsfan Says:

Look at it from the opponents’ point of view-

They get the indecisive, sack/interception machine when they face the Bucs.

  27. Ben real Says:

Yeah all those players out and we still lose … what is this article trying to say?

  28. unbelievable Says:

Hey Joe, riddle me this: when was the last time the Bucs beat a backup QB?

Those aren’t gifts for this pathetic franchise.

  29. Tuck Says:

You say this and I get where you are coming from. At the same time, the Bucs have had the hardest strength of schedule.

    https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other

I don’t see how it is fair to say that the bucs have been “lucky” to have had the schedule they have.

  30. Buccaneerscotty Says:

Your a idiot!!! Rokie and back ups kick our ass !!!! Where the heck have you been?

  31. Buccfan37 Says:

Longtime Buc fans are not going to switch to another team just to support a winner. That’s stupid.
