The Problem With Jameis

September 4th, 2019

Superhero not needed.

Last night Bucco Bruce Arians was stellar while appearing on “Late Hits” with co-hosts Alex Marvez and Bill Polian, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Naturally Polian, who was briefly Arians’ boss in Indianapolis when Peyton Manning was a rookie and Arians was the quarterbacks coach, asked about Jameis. Polian quipped a question about Jameis must be asked when anyone with the Bucs appears.

Arians initially talked about how much he really liked working with Jameis and what a hard worker he is, nothing new. But then Arians explained the biggest problem Jameis had previously with the Bucs wasn’t so much himself, it was the garbage team around him.

Arians added Jameis believed he had to be Superman for the team to have a prayer of winning and if he didn’t play like Superman, he felt as a team leader, he let the franchise down.

So Arians stated he has tried to reprogram Jameis to get his mind right and to understand Arians and his staff are making sure Jameis doesn’t have to make up for schlock players on the team.

(Joe is looking right at the roster of disgraced defensive coordinator Mike Smith’s defense.)

You can hear an excerpt of Arians detailing this below. Audio courtesy of SiriusXM NFL Radio. (Hat tip to friend of Joe, @alexmarvez.)

The problem is that he sucks as a human and even more so as a player. Set us back ten years. He is known as Americas Head Coach Killer.

  2. Dapostman Says:

Thank you for your contribution to society Cliff Claven, aka Pittsshore.

  3. snookman Says:

and why is the team around him so bad forcing him to be superman?????? Because your(BA) scared boss Licht decided to ignore drafting an OL which is the most important segment of a football team. The team should have been built from the trenches up………..not from the skilled positions down.

  4. pittsshore Says:

and dapostalman, you swallow as a human. Too bad your mom did not and you might not possibly be on the face of the earth.

  5. Dapostman Says:

Pittsshore, A Mom insult, really? How old are you? Your two dads must be so proud. See now there’s some originality.

    #Princetonmya*s

  6. Lamarcus Says:

He is a good Qb that plays for bad teams

  7. Ndog Says:

Can anyone say that he has not had to try to carry this team since he has been here? What else worked? The run game (outside of a few game from D. Martin his rookie year) nope! The kicking game nope! The defense, don’t make me laugh! The coaching, are you kidding me?

We’ve seen him go for 330 plus with 3TDs (while accounting for all 3 TDs for us) and no TOs and lose AT HOME!

We’ve seen him go for 384 with 3 TDs and one pick scoring 27 points and lose on the road to the freaking Bills with T. Taylor at QB.

We’ve seen him go 21-29 for 297 yards 2 TDs and zero TOs while scoring 30 on the road and lose!!!

When this ⬆️ happens time and time again what do expect him to do, TRY LESS?!?!?!?

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Pittshore…..you’re such an easy JBF sheep.

Joe catches you nearly every day.

Then releases you back only to catch you the next day with this guy said this about Jameis or Jameis said this or that.

    Baaaa baaaa baaaa

  9. D-Rome Says:

But then Arians explained the biggest problem Jameis had previously with the Bucs wasn’t so much himself, it was the garbage team around him.
Arians added Jameis believed he had to be Superman for the team to have a prayer of winning and if he didn’t play like Superman, he felt as a team leader, he let the franchise down.

Too late. He already let the franchise down by getting suspended. As for the garbage team around him presumably Arians is talking about the defense. Jameis had better targets and more weapons last year.

  10. Hodad Says:

Jameis tried to do much because he had a bad team around him. Guess what, he still has a bad team around him. Good luck staying upright Jameis, Licht has done you no favors building this winner.

  11. tmaxcon Says:

The problem with Jameis is he was drafted by and incompetent minor league franchise ran by dumbarses….. Jameis never had a chance in tampa the nfl’s unquestioned black hole for players and coaches.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    Garbage team around him?

No way. Not the Bucs. They were GREAT when they drafted Winston.

Not the running game…oh wait. Not the defense…oh wait. No the kicker…oh wait.

Wait, wait, wait…those aren’t facts they’re excuses. We’ve been told that b y a couple clowns all summer long in here. Screw you BA, you’re a liar.

Pittshore…how do you set a team back 5 years if it’s always historically SUCKED anyways??? Are you a new Bucs fan or something?

  13. Tony1775 Says:

I will take Ironman. He is smart, creative, destructive, and tough. These are all traits of Jameis. This year is pivotal for Jameis hopefully his career doesn’t end like a western with him riding out through the sunset on the old Dale Mabry road.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

    Dapostman …mama jokes.

Now you see why he makes a good little sheep.

A minute now BucsBandit will chime in too with something that he said yesterday about Jameis or perhaps last week. SOS.

Baaaa baaaa baaaa Joe you own these guys.

  15. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

America’s Groper obviously has turnover issues. That is indisputable. And said groper has “team” issues. I guarantee, the other players, coaches (most of whom are gone now), and front office are still privately seething about Winston blatantly lying to them about the Uber incident. That tarnish never goes away, and trust is forever lost. And then there’s all the other off the field BS and sideline dumb antics. Grown ups notice those things.

  16. 813bucboi Says:

    cant wait for sunday!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  17. Buc1987 Says:

    Morgus the Magnificent Says:

“still privately seething about Winston blatantly lying to them about the Uber incident. ”

    LMFAO…..you guys are hilarious.

    Privately seething.

I GUARANTEE that they aren’t seething as much as you are.

Hell I’m still seething over Josh Freeman quitting on his team sooooo.

    Seething. LMFAO!

  18. View from 132 Says:

This has always been true, from Terry Bradshaw’s 9 completions in his first Super Bowl to Brady’s average first Super Bowl. I’d rather have a number one D, a balanced offense, and another Brad Johnson type.

  19. tmaxcon Says:

licht and glazer morons are wasting Jameis just like dungy the clown wasted sapp for 6 years. this franchise gets a star every 2 decades and screws it up. selmon, sapp and winston are the only damn star this franchise has had. it’s a shame but there is truly no hope in bucland with glazers in charge. they have no reason to succeed bucfan already has all the excuses ready. coaching the bucs is a retirement gig not active duty.

  20. The Buc Realist Says:

If the team was garbage around the inconsistent game manager qb, then why is the GM still here???????????????????????????????????????????????????

4 days away from the buc rocketing up the mock draft boards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Buc1987…so you can still seethe about something Freeman did….but the guys Winston LIED to and sign his paychecks can’t? Utterly ridiculous.

  22. DB55 Says:

If only I could be JWs agent. I’d tell TB to take a long walk off the St. Pete pier and then sign him to the NEW YORK YANKEES a winning organization with smart fans and smart owners.

  23. D-Rome Says:

tmaxcon, I have to admit I’m a little surprised of your opinion on Jameis. For all of your talk about “low standard buc fan”, for you to think so highly of him is a bit low standard. There is no way he’s the 3rd best player in team history as you have claimed before. You bashed GMC for years for not being the leader of the defense, but Jameis has repeatedly shown he is not a leader.

Truth be told, all of the on-the-field issues that has plagued his NFL career were evident at Florida State.

  24. DB55 Says:

I’m positive Trevor Sunshine Lawrence will take the Bucs to the SB and win it his rookie year while accounting for zero turnovers. Lmao you people are funny man.

  25. 1sparkybuc Says:

Some people here confuse accusation with conviction, completely ignoring the FACT that there were NEVER ANY CHARGES, NO ARRESTS, and NOT ONE SINGLE SECOND BEHIND BARS. The last incident occurred over three and a half years ago. There’s no video evidence and no physical proof that anything happened at all. There’s nothing substantial unless all you require is the word of a white woman. There is a label for people like that. With no witness to verify anything, how can anyone say Jameis is lying when he says he’s innocent? Jameis is no threat to society in any way shape or form. He’s a young, healthy, wealthy, black man who has done everything possible to be the best QB he can be. The heart is there. The effort is there. I want him to succeed. I believe this team will be a contender with this new defense and coaching staff. They don’t need to start all over with a rookie QB.

  26. DB55 Says:

    Sparky

It’s deeper than that. The same people would welcome baker Mayfield with open arms completely ignoring the video and conviction.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Morgus….they just signed him to a FAT 5th year option didn’t they?

I suppose they did while they were seething….

  28. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    Problem is singular

  29. BrianBucs Says:

“The problem with Jameis” is very simple – he just isn’t that good

  30. Jim Says:

I guess Arain’s “crappy team” message, which keeps popping up, is meant to help Jameis. But how is the team feeling about it?

  31. Destinjohnny Says:

Good thing we have Jason to fix the problem….

  32. Pittsshore Says:

Sparky: google it dummy. FSU paid off 950k, in 2016, to two different young ladies. They swept under the rug until he was gone, drafted, and then a couple years after being drafted.

  33. RustyRhinos Says:

So I guess all the really good teams always pick in the top ten in the NFL draft. Say wasn’t Winston a #1 pick? What was the expectations when we drafted him? Was it he will never win here because we dont have a good enough team around him.. Or he will come in and use the highest NFL QB IQ in a generation to not learn to work with what he has available. Were we not told again and again how a QB with all this QB IQ could will the Oline to play better by just being under center. When will that happen? I want Winston to be successful every season because it make the Buccaneers successful every season. I am still waiting for it!

  34. DalvinCookRules Says:

you can tell shpittshore must be a real winner in life. I guarantee you no matter how bad Winston “sucks”, his on-the-field and off-the-field accomplishments will infinitely surpass yours, sir.

  35. Pittsshore Says:

Dalvincook: I bet he cannot wait until his daughter is old enough to Google his name. Her next step would be to go onto Amazon and purchase dead bolt locks for her bedroom door.

  36. tnew Says:

    DB55 with the win…

AND btw Google is your friend… you can even read the police report, which I recommend.

    FOR THE RECORD…

FSU was FORCED to pay the $950K for failing to properly investigate. This was independent of Winston. FSU was guilty of properly handling the investigation. This in no way either convicts nor exonerates Winston. It has nothing to do with his innocence or guilt. This is about FSU’s guilt.

Winston and Kinsman later settled (remember he countersued her as well) and all details were sealed. Speculation on that settlement is just speculation.

  37. Jameis’ next door neighbor Says:

I see Jamies putting the work in. He works harder than a tractor trailer to be great. You guys don’t know anything about playing in the national football league! All you know is the price of hotdogs and beer! Is our quarterback perfect? No, he’s not. But you can bet your last slice of salami he working harder than any other QB is this league, and twice as hard as any of you meat heads! So give up your season tickets and all of your hope, because we the true fans we don’t need ya. So why don’t you go find out where turds go when when someone flushes the toilet bowl. A- holes!!!!!

  38. Oneilbucs Says:

Hey every body!!! It’s Football season and Jamies is our quarterback rather yall like or not. If you are a real Bucs fan then just root for the team to win . If Jamies bothered yall so much then go watch another team . You don’t even have to watch Jamies play. You can go root for another team. I’m tired of the Jamies talk and how yall feel about him . I don’t have a problem with Jamies being the quarterback. I think he’s good enough to win with . Some of this hate has to be because of his race. I’m sorry but man yall ride this dude to much about how bad of a guy he is as if yall never did anything wrong. Every man on this site have touch a woman and when they said stop and we left them alone. Stop with lies. I hope my bucs win this Sunday that’s all I care about now . The season starts this weekend and all yall want to talk about is Jamies and his 4 years old accusation man yall need a life !!!! Go bucs

  39. July Joe Says:

Arians, Leftwich, Christiansen and Licht all routinely echo the statements of Author Jameis1of1 and some of the words written in:

JAMEIS WINSTON DERANGEMENT SYNDROME: How the Media Causes Us to Overlook the Start of a Hall of Fame NFL Career

And recently, the author did an interview and listeners were saying he sounded just like Jason Licht, and since he wouldn’t allow his face to be shown in the video (a picture of the book cover appeared instead), perhaps he is Licht? No matter who he is, his thoughts on Jameis seem to be shared and even parroted by Bucs’ brass.

  40. Pittsshore Says:

    Rankings for 2019:
JW aka Apples McGoo. 24th ranked QB
    The Bucs team: 29th
In a nutshell: you will always have a terrible team when you have a terrible QB. There are some one-offs but those are usually associated with an injured QB trying to tough it out or a tenured QB playing past his prime.

  41. July Joe Says:

    Pittsore,

Your “rankings” are stupid “human opinion” rankings which mean NOTHING.

    Jameis finished:

#5 in the entire NFL in Raw QBR

#1 in the entire NFL in passer rating under pressure

#2 in the entire NFL in 3rd down conversion percentage

Anyone ranking him 24th is an idiot that should lose his job … and you repeating an the opinion of idiots proves you are a what? An I-D-I-O- …. I’ll let you figure out the last letter.

  42. Jameis’ next door neighbor Says:

The problem with Jamies is he’s got too many janitors trying to teach him to play football.

  43. Shedrick Anthony Says:

I was here in Cali watching the games like most of you. When we punted the ball I fell short of praying the team would get a stop. Most times my prayer was unanswered. It was that bad. The team… Not all the players…..the team was bad. So in those last few games when he didnt press we get two first downs and punt we were down 10 or more at the half. That was the last 2 yrs. What BA is saying is correct.

  44. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Joe is looking right at the roster of disgraced defensive coordinator Mike Smith’s defense.” That excuse for Jameis lost its traction many moons ago Joe. We all know that last year’s defense stunk … old news. But Jameis hurt the defense just as badly with his turnovers as the defense hurt him by giving up far too many points.

Many of the points the defense gave up were the result of crappy field positions that the offense and/or S/Ts left them with. Bucs’ defense did a lousy job of holding opposing offenses. but the fact remains that lousy field position is lousy field position. Plus the offense didn’t do a stellar job of controlling the clock and keeping our defense off the field (unless you think that 30 mins TOP is something better than average that is).

Another fact is that the Bucs (aka, Licht) put far too much of our salary Cap $$$ into the OFFENSE, to the detriment of the DEFENSE. As of today, the Bucs offense costs $109,315,659 to only $79,450,781 for the Bucs defense (according to Over-The-Cap.com). That’s a pretty big difference … as in close to the biggest differential that I see in the NFL. For comparison, New England’s offense comes in at $86,693,374 and their defense costs $88,221,634 … fairly well balanced.

So please Joe, stop with the constant excuses for Jameis. It’s a two-way street. BOTH the offense AND the defense have to hold up their end of the deal for the Bucs to become a winning franchise.

  45. BoltIsle Says:

pittsshore sure swallowed Jameis whole. JW owns his mind because he posts a ridiculous number of times on every single Jameis thread.
Since he really bothers you that much, there’s 31 other teams you can choose to root for.
If not, maybe see your doctor to discuss what prescription best suits your obsession.

  46. Losinghope Says:

Yeah Joe, it’s everyone’s fault BUT his. The defense MADE him LEAD THE LEAGUE IN TURNOVERS since he turned pro

  47. Joseph Mamma Says:

It’s never a good sign when the coach has to publicly say what is going on in a player’s mind to explain why his play has sucked.

  48. Football’s Back! Says:

    I’m just ready for Sunday.
