“Shaq! Shaq! Shaq! Shaq!”

September 13th, 2019

Shaqmania runnin’ wild in the Buccaneers’ locker room

What’s more satisfying than this on a Friday!

It’s the happy locker room video look that Joe loves to see. Kudos to the NFL for forcing teams to agree to this stuff.

Enjoy it below:

In honor of linebacker Shaq Barrett’s three sacks against the Stinkin’ Panthers and shell-of-himself quarterback Cam Newton, the team is seen breaking out into a Shaq chant before Shaq is congratulated and Bucco Bruce Arians speaks.

If you’re a Team Glazer fan, you can spot Brian and Joel Glazer in the mix. Not seen in the video is general manager Jason Licht giving Arians a game ball before the team breaks up and starts their shower-media-dress routines.

We just might have a football team boys.

  2. Rayjay1122 Says:

It is critical now to take advantage of the long week and get a home victory against an average Giants team to go 2-1.

  3. TampaTown Says:

Shaq getting a lot of love on national sports radio today. Panthers playing theme song from Star Wars when Kechly makes a play, maybe we play Love Shack when Barrett makes a play.

I mentioned in a post before the season got started that Shaq would be a beast after watching films on him when he played for the broncos. He was a beast with the Brincos but was overshadowed by Vonn Miller n 2018 draft pick Bradley Chubb. Shaq is a team player n goes full speed every down. We r playing like a top 5 defense but couple him with JPP on the other end n this is a top 3 defense, if not #1. Let’s not overlook JWhitehead, he plays violent n aggressively on every play. He played the run n had great pass coverage with breakups. CDavis is still young but he’s on his way to becoming elite. Welcome back Koetter, my bad, Hargreaves. Good riddance MSmith,Koetter, Lovie,Conte, NSpence,Grimes, McCoy,Curry,Chris Baker. Contrary to Koetter n Mike Smith,BA n TBowles is a genius. V as in Vea is literally an A n Suh is Suhper, thanks McCoy. Gholston has come alive n is in rare mode. David is beasting out as usual. Hargreaves was just that…in a hard grave under the former regime, now the dead has arisen. Go Bucs!

Just the fact that we are competitive is a major improvement. Not saying we will never get blow out bc it happens it all teams(even the good ones) but our Bucs in the past would have been out of the game in the first quarter. Right before Carolinas last drive My wife(of 8months) said to me “Carolina hasn’t done anything, don’t worry tampa will win”. I told her she hasn’t watched too many Bucs games over the last 10 years otherwise she wouldn’t be saying that. No one would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like the Bucs have throughout the last decade.

It’s a different feeling. A feeling of competence and preparedness. The guys are buying in and I’m pretty sure the fan base will as well. Save maxipad or bandit and a couple of the other losers that post here.

Whitehead has really shown up. He’s everywhere. Carlton doesn’t do it for me though. He seems a step slow and honestly a little unathletic on quite a few plays tbh. He’s ok as a 2 but if he had to man julio or mike Thomas then I think we would be having Ryan Smith circa 2017 flashbacks…may be a bit of an exaggeration and I would honestly be impressed if someone were to top that level of bad

  7. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

Joe why was my last comment deleted? There was literally nothing wrong with it.

  8. View from 132 Says:

It makes me feel old that dudes named after Shaq O’Neal are old enough for the NFL. But congrats to this Shaq.

  9. Jean Lafitte Says:

Wow 3 sacks first game!!! What is the over/under on double digit sacks now?

  10. What in the buc Says:

Finally we can make some stops… just need giveaway Jameis to stop being so giving

  11. '79 Defense Says:

Glad that he played great but can we wait and see if it continues? Any true Bucs fan knows you can’t count on continued success with this team– as a team or individually.

I don’t necessarily agree with you, Joe, in forcing the teams to have the media in the locker room right after the game. In this camera obsessed world, can’t they at least have time as a team to celebrate without worrying about what they do or say- or to talk about a loss.

  12. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

The Bucs are becoming FUN to watch again, with all these new coaches! Coach Arians nearly cost us the win in the last game, and even admitted it, yet we still won in spite of Coach Arian’s mistakes!

  13. pick6 Says:

really hope we get more than 5 such “winning locker room” videos this year from the Bucs

  14. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

Congrats to Shaq. True, its early but…search your feelings, see that it be true. BUCS will destroy the giants.
    Go BUCS

  15. adam from ny Says:

man i hated when joe buck kept calling him shaquil…

    #JustCallHimShaq

is it me or does joe buck have an air about him that he is better than everyone he works with?

  17. TexBuc Says:

“Shaq WOW” Barrett for only $4 million per season and works in wet or dry fields.

  18. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Adam from the Big Apple sez:

Is it me or does joe buck have an air about him that he is better than everyone he works with?

    ——-

It’s not just you, Adam. I find him smarmy at best. He traded off his Dad’s name as a baseball broadcaster and now he’s everywhere…football, baseball and even golf. I really like/respect Aikman, however. I like to think Aikman gives Buck “wedgies” and occasionally slaps the glasses off Buck’s face when off camera.

  19. Clw JB Says:

Shaq, Nelson, Nassib all playing well early – when JPP gets back up this could get real nasty

Shaq’s speed dip move is sick – wow

Amazing what coaching can do, Bowles clearly proved it already

He took the same basic group with a few new pieces, mixed the fronts, attacks all the time out of all looks and amazingly we have a solid D

It’s a mindset on D – the every blade of grass mantra – that is from Kiffin/Marinelli days – Brooks/Lynch/Sapp all day quote

That is a good standard to emulate 👍

  20. Mord Says:

All of Licht’s puzzle pieces are starting to fit.

Credit where credit is due: Barrett appears to be a very good addition, and Vea denting the middle of the field is a major upgrade to every position around and behind him. Even Gholston has made plays. Signing, retaining and drafting those guys has been scrutinized and criticized, but … Maybe Licht has actually conceived of and understood what an *acrually good* D-coordinator could do with such guys all along?

Eh. I know it’s only two games, but … The Bucs might actually be fun to watch again.

  21. TexBuc Says:

Yes amazing to see what coordinating a defense looks like. Todd Bowles really understands what his opponent is trying to do and he seems to have the answers to how to counter them.

  22. casual observer Says:

Agree. Kudos to the defensive coaches. To all the coaches for that matter. I suspect that the D will get even better.

  23. ClodHopper Says:

Found this today on Twitter. Turns out theres more than one reason to root for this guy. He’s a better man than almost all of us!!

    “@VicLombardi
Saw Shaq Barrett near baggage claim at DIA a couple months ago. He was all out of breath. I said, “What’s up”?

    “Oh nothing. Just moving luggage”.

He helped a random family carry suitcases out to their car.

Shaq Barrett is one of the good ones.”

  24. Bob in Valrico Says:

Carlton Davis needs some extra work with our full time ref. He can’t be the one that gets a 48 yard return called back or puts the panthers at the three yard line
because he blatantly grabs a facemask and yanks on it. He needs to play cleaner
to keep the refs eyes off of him in the future.

  25. BucDan Says:

I took another look at this game and in addition to Barrett “Wreaking Havoc”, Vita Vea was consistently mauling the Panthers center. So many times in the past, the DTs wouldn’t get push up the middle, so they revert to trying to run around there blocker, leaving a QB like Cam to make an escape. NOT ANYMORE! And Vita was taking on double teams all game! And still pushing the pocket and splitting the blocks!

Also shout out to Carl Nassib, who showed off quick first step and quite a bull rush off of the edge.

  26. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Licht, or Forrester Gump as some people call him on here sucks generally but Shaq is a great pickup.

  27. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

If Shaq keeps on playing this good and JPP comes back healthy and fit, then there is no place for JPP to go than DE, which is manned by Gholston. I don’t see him replacing Shaq at OLB. Let’s hope this is a good problem to have.

  28. Bobby Says:

I’m excited but still concerned. We were burned too many times where an accurate QB would have connected. I know a lot of this inaccurate throws were due to pressure but we were beat a lot. I hope Eli doesn’t find those same opportunities. I like our DB’s but they’re young and still prone to bite on fakes and get beat deep. I still expect good QB’s to exploit that but I also expect our young DB’s to improve and by the end of the season that problem will go away.
It’s really the only weakness I see right now in the D.

  29. OneBuc55 Says:

    @ Bobby

You’re right about the QB analysis but when we do play a more accurate QB they most likely won’t be as mobile as Cam which should hypothetically result in more sacks since they won’t be able to escape our pass-rush…
with Suh and Vea pushing the middle of the pocket and guys like Shaq, Nassib, and whoever else Todd dials up coming off the edge this should be a really exciting defense to watch…
My one concern is how we’ve defended the TE so far this season and it won’t get any easier with Evan Ingram next game…

  30. bucnole Says:

We need not to get too overboard on this. . . lets have a lunchpail mentality and kick some butt.
Last thing I want to see from this team is that they buy into the media hype. Just do your jobbed like DB55 used to say “Get to the ball with a bad attitude”

  31. 813bucboi Says:

    @realist is somewhere crying….lol….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  32. Oregonbucsfan Says:

All of Licht’s puzzle pieces are starting to fit. : Mord
A win is a win and is great. But one swallow doesn’t make a summer. (In original SB IQ test). Beating a Cam-less Carolina is nice, but let’s not start printing playoff tickets yet.

“All” of Licht’s puzzle pieces? There are too many to list here like Noah Spence (remember the glowing praise?) to use any word close to ALL.

  33. Buc4life24 Says:

    Sack Barrett leading the charge!

  34. gobuxfla Says:

If Eli is smart, he “obtains” the flu next Saturday. Let the rookie take the beating.

  35. BucHead588 Says:
