Shaq Attack

September 23rd, 2019

Gift from the gods.

Lost in the truly nauseating way the Bucs lost Sunday — one of the more popular national sports radio shows this afternoon led off with the Giants beating the Bucs and the host slapped around the Bucs for letting a rookie quarterback in his first start carve up the Bucs defense like a hungry Cajun would a roasted hog at an LSU tailgate — was that history was made.

And no, not the kind of history for the gallons of puke Bucs fans heaved in the bathrooms of the Den of Depression after the game. Joe swears he hasn’t had a beer (yet).

Bucs outside linebacker/pass rusher Shaq Barrett is turning into a monster. In fact, Barrett tied an NFL record for sacks yesterday. No, really. A Bucs player tied an NFL sack record. Seriously.

Yes, Joe is convinced he is living in an alternate universe now.

Barrett’s eight-sack total after three games, which leads the NFL (!), tied a record set by the great Mark Gastineau in 1984 for the Sack Exchange of the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets.

Additionally, Barrett set a Bucs record for most sacks after three weeks previously held by Warren Sapp (5.5).

Also, Barrett became just the third Bucs player to record four sacks in a game, which he did yesterday.

Right now there is no doubt Barrett was the best free agent pickup this past offseason by Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. And Barrett is sure as hell shooting for best free agent pickup in team history right up there with Simeon Rice, Hardy Nickerson and Vincent Jackson, among others.

Sorry, Joe doesn’t think Swaggy Baker is in the running.

You need a pass rush to win games………

“You need a pass rush to win games………”

    And a kicker.

  3. NPRSageBoy Says:

And a HC at the top of his game. Not some washed up former Coach of the Year just going through the motions. Burn it down and do a Miami style fire sale

Time to seriously consider a full rebuild. It wasn’t just bad coaching under Koetter, the players weren’t NFL quality either.

  4. Tye Says:

IF not for Shaq, just imagine how bad it could have been..
Jones would have lit up the board.
It’s sad that a rookie going against a decent defense gets harassed and knocked around and still plays like a vet..
The Bucs 5 year qb, up against one of the worst defenses, disappears 2nd half and the Bucs lose…
It just looks bad for everyone!

  5. Pete Mitchell Says:

I don’t understand how other NFL teams have a kicker and we don’t.

When Graham Gano went down I was thinking for sure we’ll have a better kicker than the Stinking Panthers…

    I was wrong.

The kid they brought in for 4-4 against us and it almost cost us the game. This week it did cost us the game. It’s lame.

Tye… a sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach just gripped me reading that… trust me a lot of lost sleep last night for the shot callers @ OBP…

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Time for others to get some sacks……8 of 9 from Shaq…….no LBs S, CB or interior linemen have even 1/2 sack….

  8. Lamarcus Says:

I think we are still good although yesterday was as pain as getting hit by car. Players like Barrett, JW, ME, CG, LVD gives me so hope

  9. Pewter power Says:

Hey Shaq make sure to thank Vea and Suh for that big contract next year, even after a three sack game and knowing your the only credible edge rusher they still cant devote help because of the beef up the middle.

  10. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

We need Jameal Dean 33 Davis is not doing anything positive 36 Mj Steward not doing jack either don’t think Murphy-Bunting is the answer. Mike Edwards 34 did alright he definitely had some f ups yesterday Nassib is no good we need JPP back!

  11. SB Says:

A Flippin’ FA pass rusher that works????

  12. Pittbucfan Says:

Hardy “Hardware” Nickerson will still IMO be the top free agent signing, but with that said, Shaq is off to a monster start. Hardy was a vet and taught so many young Bucs at the time how to be professionals. Loving what Shaq is doing, wish the secondary would replicate the intensity.
And IMO, kickers are called upon to be clutch sometimes and win games. Matt choked, but he’s still our kicker. Learn from it boy. Don’t eff up again soon.

  13. Simeon97 Says:

Joe, can you start campaigning for us trade for Ramsey? Our secondary blows.
Look at the impact a player like Mack had on Chicago last year.

  14. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Shaw has been incredible, flashes ever since he put on BUCS Jersey! He’s the truth, looking like LT out there!!! Side not: Eddie Pinero with a pinched nerve is better then Gay!!!

  15. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Shaq: auto correct Siri u B

  16. Zzbuc Says:

You can have Barret Nassib LVD Vea playing really good but if the secondary is goong to be out of position, miss tackles and bad angles you will make some players make millions, but you are going to lose games!!!
This is a TEAM game….. this is not golf or tennis!!
Same case on the offense….. Evans is extraordinary, maybe the best Bucs receiver all time with bucs uniform, but with bad calls, an inconsistent OL and an inconsistent QB you will still lose games and seasons!!
And those few extraordinary players we have sooner rather than later are going to get tired of losing.
Everything starts with Management and coaching!!

  17. Bucnrs76 Says:

The negativity on this website is over the top. Den of Depression, Bucs suck , were gonna lose , blow it up, fire everyone. The giants are bad but their fans show up and root them on yet everyone here just bitches about it’s a Bucs life. With that mentality it will never change how about putting a positive karma out there. GO BUCS!!!

  18. #1bucsfan Says:

Haha baker that was funny joe. Needed a good laugh

  19. FortMyersDave Says:

Can not blame Buc fans for being negative. No way in he!! Tampa should have lost that game and its on the O, the D, the not so special teams and the coaches as well as the worst GM in football since the Lions had Matt Millen. If it were not for the Jets, Elway in Denver and the mess that used to be the Miami NFL franchise this would be the biggest train wreck in the NFL. What solves this???? F***ing wins, something that happens very rarely nowadays.

  20. Bucsfaninchina Says:

    “swaggy Baker”

    Yuk yuk yuk

  21. unbelievable Says:

There have been wide receivers running wide open all over our defense every single week.

Not sure why anyone is surprised by Jones carving us up. This is what the Bucs do. Evert year, every time.

  22. C-Rock Says:

We finally got our Michael Bennet!!!
