“Fundamental, Elementary Things” (Video)

September 23rd, 2019

Vernon Hargreaves

Bucco Bruce Arians was talking on TV again, and he sounded a bit more frustrated than usual.

Perhaps WFLA sports chief and preseason Bucs sideline guy Dan Lucas caught Arians after he scrutinized more film of Sunday’s choke job at the Den of Depression.

Arians talks about how things were simplified for the Buccaneers secondary but they still didn’t play sound football, missing on “fundamental, elementary things,” he said.

On the offensive side of the ball, screwups late in the game at critical junctures were tough to swallow. “Yeah, the mistakes are easily correctable but they should never be made in the first place,” Arians said.

Well said, Coach.

You can watch all of Lucas and Arians below.

We will shock the Rams and the world Sunday!
Just as the Giants were fighting for their season against us, so too will we be against the Rams.
You know what happens when a rat gets backed into a corner??? ….
    IT FRIKKEN ATTACKS!!!
    GO BUCS!

  2. Buc1987 Says:

    Thanks for the video.

  3. NPRSageBoy Says:

1-3 after next Sunday’s debacle at Rams.

  4. JimmyJack Says:

NPR So wrong. This team don’t do debacles. Way to tough for that.

You must be thinking of the older teams that played soft ass football and didn’t mind packing it in. This team is way tougher then any of them teams and they are gonna be ticked off this Sunday.

  5. Zzbuc Says:

I respecto Coach Arians a lot ….. but yesterdays loss starts with you and tour coordinators and of course the kicker.
Probably Evans could be the ofensive player of the week so as Barret on the defensive player of the week. JW played pretty solid and still we lost.
Starts with you Coach, no doubt on my mind

  6. JimmyJack Says:

This is a new Era of Bucs football. Time to get with the program and quit being a bunch of collective panty wastes as a fanbase.

  7. Lamarcus Says:

BA calling out the secondary is hilarious and realistic. I’m tired of VH3. He is a second rate nickel corner…… But again we could be a Vh3 tackle away from 0-3. U know what? It doesn’t matter Vh3 and somehow Davis also needs to go Where is Bunting and Dean? I had enough of those 2 and Whitehead non covering twin MJ Stewart. This is a bad combo.

  8. Lamarcus Says:

Whitehead is good for tackling and run stop. He can’t cover. Worse than Conte i.e MJ Stewart should not be in pass downs. I’m tired of watching these guys cover the world’s best receivers and can’t hang. Davis somehow gets worked into having to grab the guy cause he is beat will make us lose. Vh3 is a bust. No straight line speed what so ever!!

  9. buc15 Says:

Thank you Jimmy Jack. Tired of these soft azz cry baby fans. We are much improved already and headed in the right direction.

  10. ModHairKen Says:

First, take those shoes Gay wore Sunday and burn them. Second, give Bobo 10 minutes in a room alone with Murphy-Bunting for nearly getting him killed on punt returns. Third, run the damn ball more. Fourth, send 6 guys on every play. Fifth, the Rams are soft. Let Edwards make an open field tackle on Gurley.

  11. Jmarkbuc Says:

We could package any two of them ( maybe 3), along with Brate who is apparently persona non grata and expensive, and some sorta pick for Ramsey…

    He’d be worth it…

Problem is there is no real talent in this group. Whitehead’s a really good hitter. Still looks like a clown car too often…

  12. Etzel Says:

Bruce’s red face and twitching hand is saying more than anything that comes out of his mouth.

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Etzel

🤔. Been wondering if he hired all these guys because he had no intention of coaching the whole season through…

  14. TSmitty3000 Says:

I thought the secondary was fixed. The bad news is Licht will draft 3 more DBs next draft. This coaching staff and GM are all arrogant. They are concerned with being right than saying “I whiffed on that, so let’s move on.” MJ Stewart and Hargreaves aren’t going to get any faster. Davis won’t stop grabbing people. The other mistake was being in salary cap hell where you can’t sign veteran corners. It is utterly foolish for the entire secondary to be so young.

  15. Daniel Says:

Did Arians not wear sunscreen on Sunday? He’s dumber than I thought

  16. DB55 Says:

That itch in the picture is fine as hell except for the mustache, oh wait my bad.

  17. unbelievable Says:

Did Bullchit Bruce acknowledge that he’s still searching for his balls?

  18. Ndog Says:

I just watched the coaches film and it was clear the secondary was not physical talent mistakes, rather mental mistakes. On one bomb the safety came over too far and lost leverage inside. On the last drive the big 22 yard gain was on MJ Stewart as everyone was playing 2 man, which is man 2 man with 2 safeties over the top. Problem is everyone played that defense EXCEPT Stewart who looked like he played a zone call instead. That’s not coaching folks that’s players messing up plain and simple. 1. Jameis’s pick, 2. a play where Jameis had Godwin open for a TD but Cappa got whopped and the DT hit Jameis arm while throwing, 3. a missed EP, 4. a blocked EP where Cappa got destroyed, 5. a missed FG and 6.on the most critical defensive play of the game Suh knows that stunt is being run yet he chooses to work upfield just giving Jones the lane to walk in. That is 8 errors that were on players not coaches, so yes the coaches weren’t perfect but dang these players need to make the plays that are there as well.

  19. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

BA should start wearing shades, I’m starting to detect that “Deer in the headlights” look in his eyes.

Not a good look beginning a 7 week road trip.

  20. adam from ny Says:

why is bruce so red in the face…

    is he okay man???

  21. richbucsfan Says:

Any team watching film on Sunday’s game will be delighted to assist the Bucs secondary practice ‘fundamental, elementary things’ by gashing them game after game after game. 4-12 at best

  22. Defense Rules Says:

Special kudos for that video Joe. Dan Lucas did a really good job of asking pertinent questions that really got BA opening up about what he saw. The one thing that struck me is BA’s recollection of even the most minute details. I’m impressed.

Sounds like Todd Bowles dummied down the defensive game-plan a BUNCH and still guys screwed it up at critical times. The Giants seemingly identified some weaknesses in our defense after the first half then capitalized big-time in the 2nd half. Wondering now if the Giants’ DC, James Bettcher, just knows TB’s defensive tendencies so well after working with him so long that he was able to find the weak links & help the Giants’ offense take advantage.

  23. Rob Tanner Says:

I don’t know why, but when BA talked in that video I had to move my ear to the speaker to hear him, anyone else?

  24. tmaxcon Says:

He’s red in the face because he setting up to play the health card and bail on this minor league abortion of a nfl franchise…. garbage cans at planned parenthood contain more talent than vh3bust
