“It Doesn’t Make Sense”

Confused by Bucco Bruce

Joe usually has no use for punters.

To Joe, a punter is a failure. A walking billboard for failure. A punter takes the field because your offense has failed. Failed to move the ball. Failed to get a first down. Failed. Fail.

(It doesn’t help that a former Bucs punter who likes to sell himself since his football days as some type of savvy football analyst once claimed Joe misquoted him and rose a big stink about it even though Joe had the guy on tape. Go away. You are a punter. Your voice has no value. You represent failure. Beat it. The only time you are on the field is when someone fails.)

So Joe doesn’t see the value of former Colts punter turned media personality Pat McAfee who works for various sports outlets including BSPN and DAZN. Seems like a nice guy and intelligent. But he’s a punter. Joe has (much) more interest in a cheerleader.

However, punters know something about kicking since they work with kickers all the time. So as one might guess, McAfee had plenty to say about the ending of the Bucs’ choke job Sunday letting a rookie quarterback with the Giants making his NFL debut on the road carve up the Bucs.

In short, McAfee claims the explanation of Bucco Bruce Arians on why he wanted to lose yards to set up rookie kicker Matt Gay, who already was skittish on Sunday, “makes no sense” and suggested Arians may have been trolling.

McAfee, who punted for Arians in Indianapolis and has had Arians on his show multiple times, explains in the video below.

    In BA I don’t trust.

  2. Buddy Says:

All these Bucs fans anointed Granpa Arians and he has yet to be impressive as a HC. He has never won anything as a HC so what made you people think he was the right person to come in here. Licht had to hire his buddy to just save his own arse!!! Now look at the joke the Bucs are again!!!!!!

  3. rfdes Says:

BA f&*kd up and had another mental lapse. I agree, he is making an excuse for the delay of game penalty. So embarrassing.

  4. miken Says:

You watch the kick just miss and can see its good from 5 yards closer…. #bucslife

  5. miken Says:

Drafting a kicker is so dumb but this was a team loss… this should have been a blow out.

  6. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Time for a redo on the Arians “Confidence Poll” Joe….

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    miken

    i agree….

looks like it wouldve been good 5yards closer…..

but if he makes his first 2 kicks we wouldnt have been in that situation….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Pittsshore Says:

This piece reminds me of one of my more asked questions… why in the h-ll can one guy not handle the kicking and punting. It will open up another very valuable roster spot. All punters do now a days is pooch punt anyway.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think the deliberate delay of game was for other reasons….& BA didn’t want to burn his last timeout in case there was a bad snap.

  10. Clw JB Says:

BA appears a bit rusty from his time away…maybe he needs a week or two more to get back in the groove

Back to back gaffes at the end of games…not a good look

  11. Dapostman Says:

Bruce Arians is taking the heat so his rookie kicker doesn’t have to. What are we talking about? We are talking about WHY BRUCE ARIANS took a penalty. We should be talking about WHY MATT GAY missed a FG with a 94% make rate.

    It’s not rocket science.

  12. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Bucs wanted the BA from the desert but we got the BA who is napping on his golf cart

  13. Brandon Says:

You get on and slam the dude and his opinion because he was an NFL punter for years but yet a courtroom nerd and football neophytea like Mike Florio is somehow an authority on football? I’m going to take the opinion of a guy that has spent many seasons in an NFL locker room, even if as an equipment manager, over a guy that that built his empire by simply reposting news stories.

  14. adam from ny Says:

maybe not enough oxygen is going to his brain…that is why he is red as a beet…so how the hell can he think straight ???…

a press conference is rhetorical to him…he can talk the talk for sure, due to years of experience…but can he still walk the walk…

    we shall see…

  15. adam from ny Says:

it’s gonna be an 8-8 season…be ready for the rollercoaster…

  18. BetterBucFan Says:

Pat McAffee was a kicker for WVU. He was forced to transition to punter by the Colts.

  19. Troy Says:

If anybody sees 8 wins from this team, I want to know where you get them. It’s not happening. This team is a train wreck. It’s embarrassing to be a fan because we fail at the basics of the game. The kicker at my local high school made a 42 yarder this week. Just sad that a high school team plays better fundamental football.

  20. Doctor Stroud Says:

This Colts kicker obviously got “liquored up” and started running his mouth.

  21. jerseybuc Says:

Pat is a funny guy Joe. If you spend anytime listening to him you would know that. Sounds like a little bit of a personal conflict you got, but the guy was a punter in the league, did play for Arians, and knows more about the kicking game than any of us.

  22. bucy Says:

In pat I trust, by the way he was a long range FG kicker in college so he actually does know a ton about kicking.
