#BlamePeyton

September 9th, 2019

Outed by coach.

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians has watched the film. And his mind is clear.

What you saw from America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, yesterday deceived you. Jameis threw three picks, two of them housed. One of Jameis’ picks was a clear drop by tight end O.J. Howard. No one (who is sober) is ragging on Jameis for that.

Another was clearly Jameis’ fault, a pick-six late in the game that doomed the Bucs. Bad Jameis!

However, the first pick-six, which was housed by Richard Sherman, Arians believes the throw was ispot on and if anyone is to be crucified for that, then #BlamePeyton.

Peyton Barber, that is.

Arians pointed his finger directly at Barber’s poor route-running today in Arians’ day-after presser. The rotten pass route, Arians said, allowed Sherman to grab the ball and score six.

“Peyton was about three yards too deep on his route,” Arians said of Barber, who was the intended target. “Last night I thought he was fine. But he was too deep — the ball was thrown perfectly.”

Translation: Lay off Jameis!

Now some will cringe that Arians appears to be throwing Barber under the bus and sparing Jameis. Perhaps, but if that is the case, Joe doesn’t blame Arians one bit.

(Besides, Joe enjoys the brutal, unvarnished truth.)

The main reason Arians is here is to fix Jameis. If that means throwing a running back under the bus who more and more each week looks as if he should be in Vince McMahon’s league —  compared to a No. 1 overall draft pick who still could lead this team to glory (while pocketing $30 million a year in Team Glazer loot) — which would you choose to toss overboard?

Jameis, even as erratic as he may be, is much more valuable to the team than a bubble running back on a rotten rushing team. We all know Barber struggles to run (Joe is being polite) . Now we know he runs lousy pass routes that lead to pick-sixes.

So what’s the point exactly?

The one to O.J. lacked touch. It was high heat. He threw it about 90. Awful throw

  3. Lamarcus Says:

Didn’t Barber get benched after that ? It’s looks like Barber is on a decline Rojo steps in and look alright

  4. zzbuc Says:

Come on!!! You wanna blame 25 on that one???? fine…..Still James is a VERY Floppy QB……And as Joe says its not the first game…….is the first game of the 5 season…..

  5. BucsBandit Says:

NOW TALK ABOUT THE DROPPED INT RIGHT IN KWON’S HANDS.

    Go ahead, we’ll wait.

  6. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    Excuses

Jameis was bad and Leftwich was worse

  7. NPRSageBoy Says:

BA couldn’t fix Tim Couch and Couch was a much better QB than JayMiss. If BA is trying to save JayMiss some grief, so be it. But many of us aren’t buying it since we’ve seen this sideshow for almost 5 years now.

Finally time to cut our losses and move on.

  8. Bird Says:

    Of course it’s barber fault
    That’s what we do here
“He was fantastic “ – Arians

    And joez made a mistake

He meant to write “I want to lay on Jameis “. Think glory hole
The story continues and it started at that one magical game – Pitt vs FSU

  9. Pittsshore Says:

How about the two that the defenders dropped joe?? Both of which were thrown directly to them.

  10. AceOfAerospace Says:

#blamepeyton for Winston’s fumbles also. #blamepeyton for the sure pick 6 dropped by Kwon Alexander.

  11. Jason S. Mclaurin Says:

Time to move on from Barber. RoJo looked the part yesterday pal. Only reason he’s still here I believe is to bridge B.Anderson from the practice squad to the main roster. Barber’s time is getting shorter by the hour I feel. He was deep on that play uncharacteristically deep for RB who can’t run for more than two yards a carry on average. I just feel he and Dare should just stick to running the ball not using them to run routes. RoJo should be that guy now. He’s an every down back but Barber and Dare should just split the power run plays or whenever RoJo needs the breather

  12. Pittsshore Says:

McCafferey has a hang nail. You gonna right an article on that too?

  13. DoooshLaRue Says:

Oh yes, it’s that magical time of year.

    Fall is upon us.
    Jamies still sucks.
And NOSBOS disappears from JBF after talking sh!t all off-season.

I think this is 5 years in a row now!

  14. Buc1987 Says:

    Arians is doing the blaming.

    Why is everyone attacking Joe?

  15. Chosen One Says:

    Fair enough.

Yayyyyyy!!! Jameis doesn’t suck. He’s just a below average QB looking at 30 mil.

  16. DoooshLaRue Says:

Easy now……BA has to calm the delicate/deranged physhe of the Soiled Messiah.

    #blameallexceptjaboo

  17. DILLIGAF Says:

When JW3 wasn’t throwing int’s he was tossing the ball 20 feet behind the receivers. Hell, guy couldn’t even accurately soar it over Brate’s head in the endzone on a throwaway which drew intentional grounding. Griff please.

  18. DoooshLaRue Says:

    87

    Translation: Lay off Jameis!

    Because Joe said that.

  19. SappAttack Says:

Jameis hits the other team’s corner square in the chest, with not a Buc in sight. Regularly. I’ve NEVER seen a pro QB throw worst INTs than Jameis.

I looked at my buddy yesterday when Jameis got the ball down 6 with the full field to go and said “we all know how this is going to end, right?” we laughed and literally the next play was pick 6. Straight up ANUS. That’s his new name, Anus Winston. Book it.

  20. D-Rome Says:

I guess Barber was the ONLY person he could have thrown to in that situation, eh? No one else? Even if that’s the hot route it doesn’t mean that’s the only option you have. If you take away the INTs, Jay-Miss still looked rotten.

  21. DB55 Says:

That’s why get so heated. Posters are simply too stupid and know Jack chit about football. It’s best they just shut up and thank jameis for putting up with this BS.

Barber obviously broke inside when he was supposed to break outside. Plus it’s a hitch which means timing route which means the ball is gone before the receiver breaks.

A tiny bit of football knowledge. I blame the public education system.

  22. LargoBuc Says:

Jameis is not a good quarterback. He played like ish yesterday.
The interception in question is on Barber.
    Both are true.

  23. DILLIGAF Says:

Excellent! Greyhound is running a BOGO sale on one-way tickets. Peyton and Jameis can argue who’s fault it was on a long bus ride to wherever the hell they end up.

  24. Bucsfan951 Says:

Barbers fault perhaps but Alexander dropped a sure int and another niners player should’ve had an easy pick and perhaps taken it 100 yards on the fourth down play at the goal line. I’m already tired of hearing the excuses for Winston. Dude is going on his fifth year and still turning the ball over.

  25. Matt Says:

There are few things more whiplash inducing than the blog / twitter difference between Winston-Defender Joe and Time to Move on Joe.

  26. Buc1987 Says:

Doosh…that’s exactly the way it should have been taken.

It’s what everyone’s boy Ndog was talking about waaaay before this article even came out.

That Barber ran the wrong route.

He was told to stfu by a few stupid posters.

What about the 2 TD’s that were called back because of penalties? We don’t talk about those passes…

  27. DB55 Says:

So now we’re talking about dropped ints. Omg lmao.

  28. LakeLand Says:

Didn’t the Yucs give Jason Licht an 5 year extension for amassing the enormous talent on the Yucs roster?

    Lol

  29. diggler Says:

Well Barber isn’t a world renowned pass catching and route running RB, so a little harsh by BA. Not a good sign that BA throwing players under the bus so soon. Looks like ROJO will be starting.

  30. DB55 Says:

    .386 lifetime winning percentage!!!

    Yes let’s move on please

  31. D-Rome Says:

What about the 2 TD’s that were called back because of penalties? We don’t talk about those passes…

That was on the same drive. You cannot score more than one TD in a single drive.

  32. christopher Says:

Hey Bruce…why is Lefty planning deep routes for the slowest RB in the league?

  33. Buc1987 Says:

lol D-Rome the passes were still thrown…..and not to the other team! 🙂

  34. Anonymous Says:

“Jameis, even as erratic as he may be, is much more valuable to the team than a bubble running back on a rotten rushing team.”

Stupidest thing to write I’ve seen anywhere, in a long time. Winston is a team captain, and he’s not worth 21 cents from yesterday, much less $21 million. Here you go, idiot: dump them both.

  35. LakeLand Says:

    DB55,

I really feel sorry for this pathetic, backwards franchise

    They are a National Disgrace

  36. Buc1987 Says:

Speaking of idiots: Name a position that’s more valuable than a quarterback? Unless, that is, you are a Bo Schembechler-type who thought a left guard actually scored touchdowns.

Even on a rotten day that Jameis had yesterday, he still could have won that game. Peyton Barber? Buhahahahaha!

  38. LakeLand Says:

  41. LakeLand Says:

    He had lots of opportunities

  42. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t blame BA for trying to ease up on Jameis a bit….it’s the first game and he is likely down on himself enough…..
Jameis is capable of having a bad game with any coach..(he’s proven that)…
so, lets see what kind of coach BA is.
Peyton Barber is no Alvin Kamara & Jameis isn’t Drew Brees…..so let’s scratch that play out of the playbook.

  43. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

OMG JOE!!! PLEASE stop this INSANITY!!! Winston is a complete and utter BUST!!! On the field!! Off the field!!! On the sidelines!!!! Dang, man!!!

  44. Anonymous Says:

Seriously? NO POSITION to answer your question. But you like a moron suggest it’s one or the other. Didn’t I say BOTH should go? Winston could have won that game? Yes. And he didn’t. In fact, he lost it. And it could have been worse had the SF D he threw to been able to catch.

  45. Lazy Animations (week) Says:

I could see that play going both ways on the blame. Although in that moment I thought Barber messed up cause it was a comeback route and well, he didn’t comeback on the course necessarily. Either way Jameis needs a better game this Thursday. I’m not throwing in the towel yet. He could still play solid the whole season. Let’s just wait and see!

  48. Bucsfanman Says:

First and foremost, WHY are we throwing to Barber in that situation anyway?! THAT is the matchup?! Barber/Sherman?! Secondly, I’d expect a 5th year QB to be able to recognize that Barber isn’t properly routed and check down to the next WR.
IMO, Barber outside should be a check on the defensive scheme/play. Having Barber outside should be nothing more than to freeze the DB on that side to free up someone else underneath or opposite, unless it’s a screen.
Bad call, bad route, and bad throw!

  49. Joe Says:

Seriously? NO POSITION to answer your question. But you like a moron suggest it’s one or the other. Didn’t I say BOTH should go? Winston could have won that game? Yes. And he didn’t. In fact, he lost it. And it could have been worse had the SF D he threw to been able to catch.

Calm down Coward Cowboy (“Anonymous”). If Jameis plays like this the next 10-12 games, you will get your wish and he will be gone.

  50. Hodad Says:

Well B.A. said he was happy with his RB’s, now not so much? Who called a pass play to Barber being guarded by a pro bowl corner on an out route that can be taken right to house? Leftwich, the coach B.A. said is a star in the making? Geez, I never see McCaffery running bad routes, maybe the G.M. needs to draft better players. More excuses, more blame on any player not named Winston. B.A. is another Jameis enabler. Wonder who’s fualt it’ll be this week for Jameis’s picks, and fumbles? Not to mention his over throws, and happy feet. I notice Jameis wears glasses off the field, does he wear contacts during games? Mr. Magoo can see the field better.

  51. Bucs_Fan Says:

    I don’t know whats worse.

    1) That Bruce will bury anyone he can to polish up JW

    or

    2) That Bruce feels like he needs to get pressure off JW for the loss. Sounds like JW might not be able to handle the heat if this is true.

I don’t know if we are making things better by coddling JW.

You are offering a false question of JW or Peyton:

The first series of the season was a 3 and out. They rehearse this series more than any other series the rest of the season.
The first first down they got was from a PI call.
OJ howard looked poor, dropping passes and fumbling.
Evans had 3 passes his direction, could he not get open? Did Sherman win the round?
JW threw away the ball every opportunity he could, poor decisions, throwing into converage, throwing INT’s instead of taking the sack, running backwards when pressure came instead of sideline to sideline, etc
The O-Line wasn’t giving any time.
    A Blocked punt
multiple Brate TD’s called back by penalty
    etc etc

The only silver lining was an improved corners/ safety actually getting interceptions again. Defense was decent, the Offense was offensive.

The question is was this Bruce or Byron’s fault? Anemic office, no fire.

  52. Pittsshore Says:

  57. Phil Says:

I have no idea why Peyton Barber was on the field yesterday in the first place. At best he’s a #4 back. They should have Dare Ogunbowale running the rock.

  58. Tony LA Says:

Give this NEW regime 3 games before completely getting rid of Jameis.
This was the first game in a new system with a new playcaller.

    They sucked.
    Horrible.
No one can or should debate that.

Now they get a road game on national TV and then home game against a very beatable Giants team.

We will know all by then.
If this team is 2-1, there is hope.

If not, they will go into one of the most brutal schedule stretches in NFL history and likely collapse.

  59. BucsBandit Says:

First pick was off OJs hands, the second pick was a crappy route as it should have been run at 5 yards and was run a 7 that’s why it looked behind him

  69. Jeffbuc Says:

Some of you guys have lost your minds. To watch that game and then come here and try to defend Jameis. And act like he didn’t have a bad game. The throw to Howard was high any other qb hits him in the chest. The ball to barber should have never been thrown. It was a timing throw like db55 said but the timing is off. That is the whole problem. Everything is a second late. Like the late out route on 3rd down to perriman he threw it about 2 seconds to late giving the defender time to break on it and nearly pick it. Nfl qbs with 4 plus years experience should by now be throwing that ball on time every time. If you watched that game and can really sit here and say he didn’t have a bad game and his timing isn’t off on every play. Go rewatch it and seriously look for how late he is on every throw. Could it be early season rust and not knowing the offense 100 percent sure. But that shouldn’t rattle a nfl quarterback that much to have that bad of a game.

  70. GhostofSchiano Says:

When do we officially start the draft talk? Week 5 or 6?

  71. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

  77. Craig Says:

Why was a running back trying to run a route? Running backs run to the sideline, or just past the linebackers and settle. They don’t run routes.

The problem is Jameis. He really does know all of the things he needs to do to be a very good quarterback. Then he steps into a game and it all rolls out of his ear hole.

Maybe he is like Vinny got, an opposing linebacker would approach the line and say boo. The whole game would then fall apart.

Maybe it is just his ego, he is the chosen one and screw everyone else.

Bench him and see if it helps. It was the best thing Dirk ever did here, it is just too bad that the allotment of Fitzmagic had already been used up.

  89. NOSBOS Says:

As far as the game goes,to the common fan you know people that just watch and don’t have time like many here do to watch film and fake like experts. Jameis was trash, O.J was trash, Lefty was trash. Before the game I stated I wanted to see between Peyton,RoJo and Dare I wanted to see 30 rush attempts. Ground and pound should be this team’s initial identity. The air attack will come once that’s established not before. The vikes allowed trash cousin’s throw the ball 10 times and won because they know what he is as a QB.

  90. Petty Officer Buc Says:

I now understand why JW is America’s QB. He scores more points for different cities in the NFL than any other starter.

  91. diggler Says:

4th and 2 call was really dumb. JW is brand new to this offense and you’re going to put him in really tough situations. Should have taken the points. The play calling was atrocious as well. Leftwich failed just as much as JW failed. There was absolutely no risk it in that offense hence no biscuits.

  92. NOSBOS Says:

Stringing Peyton out wide with a former Superbowl winning, All Pro multi pro bowl appearing cb in front of him and actually calling a play to throw that way was beyond stupid. I mean klueless cutter. I don’t care what kind of route Peyton ran or didn’t run.

Yeah, and he’s not the problem, dimwit. Neither is Barber. This one is on Fameis. I have no dog in the Jameis-sucks-or-not war on here. He stunk yesterday and cost us a game. I just want the Bucs to win. PERIOD!!

  97. Cobraboy Says:

Whose fault was the throw in the numbers that Kwon Alexander dropped?

Winston could have had THREE pick-sixes.

  98. How bout dem bucs Says:

Year #5 and Jamies is STILL turning the ball over/bad decisions! How many times do you have to get bit by an ant to learn that ants bit. Jamies is whom he’s always been A TURN OVER MACHINE !!

  99. TexBuc Says:

Timing routes are thrown to a SPOT, not when you actually SEE the receiver with his hands up ready for the ball. WHY do you think Sherman was THERE he had the play diagnosed, or do some here believe Peyton was actually outrunning Sherman?

Now the last interception was a BAD play by Winston.

Every week I watch games a ball is thrown to a defender who drops a sure interception. Win or lose I will root for my Bucs and no one I interact with on this site will help me convey my OPINION on a play or player will actually relay this to BA or Licht.

  100. Tc Says:

Listen, he is only 25. He is probably the best Qb in franchise history. Be careful what you wish for. It could be another 40 years before we get one better. His confidence and swagger are shaken. He is learning a brand new system. We would like him to be better for our own selfish entertainment. It is only one test of sixteen this year. There is incredible pressure for a young man of 25. Yesterday, Ryan (some people say he is all world-but fact is he has 0 Super Bowl wins as Jameis in over 10 years playing)threw an interception in the end zone. Rothlisberger and mayfield didn’t exactly light it up either.

  101. Ben real Says:

Lol I see everyone went from being pissed at him to reading this crap and believing the BS … y’all fake as hell …. have a set mind frame either you think he sucks or you think he’s great can’t be either or

  102. TexBuc Says:

I got 3 numbers yesterday on the Powerball! The other 2 numbers and the powerball I was off by one number each. I COULD have won the Lottery if only.
IF my older brother was born without B*lls I COULD have had another sister.

  103. Pittsshore Says:

NDog: I figured you out bro. I googled NDog and it came back with National Dutch Oven Gathering, which is a yearly event. I strongly recommend that you raise the sheets every once in a while cuz that gas is killing your brain cells.

  104. Ben real Says:

NOSBOSS the Bucs ran 30 times because jameis was throwing picks … doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out

  105. DB55 Says:

Geoff has been in the league 4 yrs. went to the super bowl. Yesterday he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. His #1 we had 25 yards and wasn’t suffering from the flu.

Mitch Trubinsky won the division last year, dude completely sucks and is complete and total garbage.

Yet you moron would take either over Winston. Bc you’re not too smart.

Winston has 1 teammate that can play 1 imagine if he didn’t fall to the ground everyone he caught a pass. Oh wait 2 teammates 1 of which would be out the league if not for JW. With JW he’s one of the best TEs in the league.

  106. From76 Says:

Let’s see what Griffin can do. We tried with Winston and it didn’t work. I think Griffen is pretty good. What do we have to lose. Give him a chance before we draft.

  107. Pittsshore Says:

DB55. Well we all know what DB stands for… get a clue loser. We go to overtime tomorrow if Apples McGoo did not play for us. He also had two other pics, thrown directly to the defender, that were dropped.

  108. Pittsshore Says:

All QBs will have a bad game from time to time but not every game, when it matters. JW only does well when the games are meaningless at the end of the season.

  109. unbelievable Says:

Yea it’s everyone else’s fault except Jameis, he played perfect right?

    Lolololol gtfo with that nonsense.

He has “1 teammate”? Please. He’s got one the best receiving / tight end groups in the entire league! And even a run game showed up yesterday!

Multiple people sucked out loud yesterday, and that 100% includes Jameis.

This article is a fkn joke.

  110. From76 Says:

DB55 Fitzpatrick looked good with all the weapons on this offense.

  111. From76 Says:

DB55 Fitzpatrick looked good with all the weapons on this offense.

  112. Tval Says:

NOW you know what it’s like to have a REAL coach who calls for accountability from ALL and doesn’t just blame the qb, like, a female broadcaster. 🤣🤣😂😂
Sounds like a bunch of ladies on here.

  113. From76 Says:

Let’s see what Griffin can do. We tried with Winston and it didn’t work. I think Griffen is pretty good. What do we have to lose. Give him a chance before we draft.

  115. Bucamania Says:

RBs ran piss poor routes yesterday for sure. Dare and Peyton.

Bad play call. Why the heck are you lining Barber out wide against Richard Sherman? Tell me that wasn’t the primary option.

  116. Kord Says:

Might break testies franchise int record if we keep him in, was hoping when I got off work this morning the team had at least brought qbs in for a look. Defend Jameis or don’t, don’t care, or blame the routes, whatever. How can anybody watch that game and not think of the countless other games he played like that. This is the only sports team I watch and care about and man I almost can’t stand it anymore, Jameis will probably toss 3 more picks Thursday and a couple will get taken to the house and I hope to Hell Arians has the balls to bench Jameis and start Ryan griffin because damn we the fans deserve better than this endless cycle of garbage quarterback play.

  117. diggler Says:

Just looked at the replay. BA says Barber was 3 yards too deep well JW then overthrew the ball 6 yards then cause Sherman was behind Barber when he picked it.

  118. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

After rewatching that game JW did not have as bad of a game as people are freaking out. The first half was a stinker but like Rojo, Jameis had a much better second half.
I watched that last pick 6 he threw and I just don’t understand how that isnt pass interference on #57. The throw was not great but as the RB is releasing and ball is in the air, 57 just comes up and trucks him so he can’t get near the pass.
That was just Bucs being Bucs, those who want to pin it all on one player have an obvious agenda and are not being impartial.

  119. Dapostman Says:

Arians is spot on in his assessment of that pick by Sherman. Barber didn’t run a very good route. Watch it again. My issue with that play is it really should have never been thrown because Barber vs Sherman is not to your advantage no matter what route Barber runs. I hope Arians is making that point to Winston behind closed doors.

  120. DB55 Says:

You people don’t watch film and it’s obvious.

    .300 LIFETIME WINNING PERCENTAGE

BUCS WILL SUCK WITH OR WITHOUT JAMEIS.

    RUN JAMEIS RUN

  121. big tank Says:

i hope yall have that same negative energy when they get it turned around, i never seen so much negativity its like yall waiting on something to go wrong so yall can post negative remarks hell if they would have won yesterday yall wouldve had something negative to say about that. you people must have miserable lives

  122. DB55 Says:

    Dapost

You mean it should not have been called or for that matter Winston should have audibled which again he caught chit over when he did in the past. No matter what he does he can’t win.

  123. Kord Says:

DB55, yes, no matter what he does he can’t win. I am going to end up getting plastered watching us get destroyed by Carolina, I sincerely hope I’m wrong my liver cant take much more of this team

  124. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

DB55 …. Jamyth watches a lot of film too…what’s your point? You both only see what you want to, IMO, and haven’t learned anything

  125. Dapostman Says:

Yes DB55, You would think that the play would put Sherman on a non receiving option as to take away their best cover guy and use him to cover someone who isn’t even in the play. I don’t understand attacking that CB with that RB. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Whether there was an audible or no audible I don’t know. Winston should know not to throw at their #1 with your #5. Football like basketball is a game of match ups. You see it all the time in the NBA where teams force guys to switch. I’ve always asked my wife how do these coaches get these jobs? I still don’t know.

  126. Wesley Says:

It was Barbers fault he turned inside instead of outside. But Jameis still made some bad decisions.

  127. DB55 Says:

    Dapost

I think jameis throws to his primary receiver no matter what the call. Imo I think he feels as though there’s no time to go through progressions. Case in point why he’s one of the best in the league when scrambling. Not only does he have ample opportunities to scramble but he can just do what comes naturally.

  128. Dapostman Says:

@DB55, well then if that’s the case where he’s supposed to throw it out there then that’s a bad play. That should be a decoy so to speak and the ball should be going somewhere else. Hopefully they scrub that stupid play.

  129. Coburn Says:

Meh i still think he shared some of thr blame for one off on hands. There was clearly 3 guys breathing down his neck.. I’d advise not throwing that at all.. throws woth that much traffic ate just prone for bad things to happen.. but if you’re gonna throw it make sure it’s low so if it’s not caught it gets deflected down. You don’t throw it hard and high with 3 guy right behind him

  130. SFNJBucs Says:

It is always someone else. Stop. Enough. He’ll have a good game or two. Then a bad one. He’s Blake Bortles or Drew Stafford (maybe not even). It’s one game but it’s his fifth year. Arians retire watch starts after the bye.

  131. Ship Thief Says:

    Goodbye Kobe Faker!

    It’s been fun…

  132. Ship Thief Says:

    Agree with NOSBOS

as soon as he saw Sherman on Barber he should have cancelled that option completely.

no excuse at all for throwing it to him on that play.

  133. BucsBandit Says:

    LOL @ NDOG

Back here making excuses for his hero, Sir Jameis Winston.

It’s truly laughable at this point.

Jameis Winston put up a 7.3 QBR in Week 1. Worst in the NFL. A standard QB rating of 45.6.

Yet somehow that’s not ‘mostly’ his fault? It’s because of what others did? LOL.

That crap-tastic low rating doesn’t even include that obvious INT that Kwon dropped. So this “it was Barber’s fault” doesn’t fly considering if it was his fault Jameis got away with another terrible, terrible pass. Just like he got away with his 2 fumbles that he was lucky his teammates were able to recover.

  134. ElioT Says:

Horrific play call splitting Barber (known for not having good hands or route running) out wide.

Even worse decision by Jameis locking on to Barber from the snap.

    They weren’t fooling anyone. It’s a joke!

    Ridiculous.

  135. ElioT Says:

Perhaps they can call some quick hitting, throw to a spot type plays to actual receivers?

    Just a thought.

    #sh*tBiscuits

  136. DB55 Says:

The Ghost of Doug Williams rises. The brilliant Tampa fans ran him off too. Lol

  137. Smashsquatch Says:

My first take watching the game live and watching the replay was to put the blame on Barber for that pick. The pick off Howard’s hands was obviously not on Jameis either; although the pick at the end and the two non-picks (Kwon & the one at the goal line) were much of the same from Jameis. I’ve seen enough of this guy at QB for the Bucs. I’m sure he’ll wow us soon when the pressure is off and the Bucs are nestled in the NFC South basement, but when you need him most he chokes. He simply lacks touch on short and deep balls and does a poor job anticipating who is going to come open. He waits to see a player open and then throws at him as opposed to throwing a player open. It’s as if he can’t see how a play is going to develop until it unfolds, which is too late. Must have gotten into this habit by having a plus arm which could bail him out in pee wee, HS, college, but not as a pro.

  138. Bob in Valrico Says:

BA needs to stop playing pattycake with Jameis. Jameis wasn’t playing with poise and BA did not have his QB ready for the first game. Time to get to work BA. You chose to have no competition at QB, so its on you to fix it.

  139. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Even on a rotten day that Jameis had yesterday, he still could have won that game.” Seriously Joe? HE could have won that game? Reality check … that loss is squarely on Jameis’ shoulders. He stunk up the place big-time. Deer in the headlights bad. Folks need to stop making excuses for him and start holding him ACCOUNTABLE for his bad performances.

  140. Buc4evr Says:

I can’t blame all the poor route running and interceptions on Jameis, but he did have accuracy issues and will never be able to connect on the deep routes. He makes terrible decisions – gets over excited and make poor choices. I don’t think he lasts the season without getting benched and don’t see him getting a fat new contract. Not looking forward to Carolina.

  141. Bucsace Says:

$21 million guaranteed money for Jameis, and he pretty much single handedly lost a winnable game for us, nice work if you can get it

  142. A Train Says:

OK, fine, one bad for Peyton, half a bad for OJ, 3 1/2 bads for JW (too hard to OJ, dumb pick 6 at end of game, and two dropped INTs thrown directly to the other team). That is a fair grading but terrible for a 5th year veteran, former #1 pick NFL QB. Unacceptable but yet the Bucs leadership seems to accept it, heck, they reward losing, they gave Licht a new contract and a raise.

  143. Joe Says:

Folks need to stop making excuses for him and start holding him ACCOUNTABLE for his bad performances.

No one is making excuses for him but you are certainly making excuses for Dotson and Howard. Jameis will very much be held accountable in February if he doesn’t pick up his game this season. Accountable as in tens of millions of dollars and a new employer.

  144. Losinghope Says:

    ” lay off j_miss”…. “unvarnished truth”… Quotes from Joe. Joe’s a bigger clown than j_miss. Here’s some unvarnished truth, he’s trash. F*#%@ j~miss!

  145. Bojim Says:

    Bird: Damn dude:(

  146. westernbuc Says:

So, to be clear, the play was designed to throw at Peyton Barber while he was covered by Richard Sherman.

Koetter never designed such a stupid play.

The worst part is that the Dolphins are worse and will get the 1st overall pick next year

  147. Kord Says:

We could of had Gardner minshew and a future in the 5th round. We have Jameis and a joke 5 years and counting….if Griffin made half the dumb throws Winston makes we could be wild card for days

  148. Anonymous Says:

Why does a Fifth year NFL QB throw a pass to a RB not well known to have good hands, who the fifth year QB sees is covered by a true Hall of fame player? Even if as those above have said, the pass was thrown before the break, why throw it to that player? He was not open. He was covered by the niners best CB. Yet we are to believe that this play is entirely the RB fault? Yes he could have been a few yards one way or the other, would that have changed who was covering him? If I see Sherman on Barber, my thoughts ( I know I am not a NFL QB) would be to throw the ball someplace else, someplace not covered by the niners best DB. But that is just me a fan not a NFL QB with the highest QB intelligence in a generation!
