A Microcosm Game For Jameis Winston

September 22nd, 2019

Welcome to the career of Jameis Winston.

America’s Quarterback is inconsistent within games and overall. And the team loses repeatedly. But how much is he to blame for today’s loss?

Against the Giants today, Jameis was 23-for-37 (62% completion) for 380 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

That’s a strong day for any QB. And Jameis is a late-game hero if Matt Gay kicks the chip-shot field goal to win the game in the final seconds.

Instead, the Bucs endured a horrible loss highlighted by a complete collapse from their defense — and the offense.

Jameis will absorb the bulk of the blame, though. Some of that is fair. That’s the QB position, and that’s what happens when you can’t lead your offense to close out a crappy team. But wait a minute. Jameis did that. He set the Bucs up to win with a bomb in the final seconds, and it’s not his fault Bruce Arians and Byron Leftwich took the ball out of his hands late in the game twice.

In all, the Bucs were a pathetic 1-for-5 in the red zone today, and that’s a terrible look for any QB.

Do you blame Jameis?

    Not his fault today.

  2. Simeon97 Says:

Conservative o play calling in q4 and soft d is to blame.

  3. Trey Says:

I blame Gay and wont watch another game so long as he is our starting kicker.

  4. Pittsshore Says:

JW was supposed to take a knee on the left hash. Basic knowledge that kickers (righties) prefer the left hash.

  5. Zzbuc Says:

Todays blame is entirely on the coaching staff. Period!!!
    No excuses!!

  6. PSLBob Says:

He had that one high throw that led to an interception, but other than that, I think he did all that was needed. The defense folded in the 3rd quarter.

  7. LargoBuc Says:

Let me try again. Im nit blaming the kicker or Jameis.
4th a 5 against a qb who has show you that he can run. No spy. 11 defenders with their backs to the kid.
13 seconds left and a timeout inside the 20. Run something! Dont just assume your rookie kicker is going to win the game there!
This script is predictable at this point!

  8. NashvilleBuc Says:

    Nope not his fault.

  9. Rojas Says:

Definitely not his fault today. He put them in position to win in the end the kicker missed.

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

A banged up team without their no1 star and we could not capitalize. Sure The kicker takes the heat. But there were plenty of chances for us throughout this game. I saw it coming about 3 min into the 3rd qtr when we came out flat. My poor snakebite bucs. Guess its still a Buclife huh? I told you all we needed a couple more pass rushers. That rook jones looked all world huh?

It was painfully clear the best QB lead their team to a win today…on the road…from behind…playing in his FIRST NFL game…repeatedly sacked and knocked silly…he was never flustered and ALWAYS knew what to do….that was the story of todays game….Oh and Jameis had nice stats

  12. Cgmaster27 Says:

Ofcourse they blame jameis joe, its what the trolls do. The pkay calling the entire second half was soft as tissue. Keep attacking. But putting this blam on anything but a terroble defensive performance and a kicker that crapped all over himself is just moronic. But again trolls are

  13. Fire the fans Says:

Ohhkay Pitt so now he’s responsible for the kicker missing a 34 yard field goal too? You’re too much

  14. Touchdown, Tampa Bay Says:

You played well Jameis. Idiot “fans” want you to be supernatural.

  15. D-Rome Says:

Not his fault. He led the offense to score 31 points. He also had a last-minute drive that could have been a game-winning Drive. For as critical as I have been of him for years this one is definitely not on him.

  16. Nemo14 Says:

If Jameis hit Evans in stride that would have been a TD instead of a kneel and a missed field goal to finish.

  17. Tye Says:

it was a team lose.. especially the kicker.. BUT good qbs can adjust and adapt to the defensive making adjustments at half time… lesser qbs have no next level… the play the same and struggle when the defense they are having success against comes out different..

That int did seem to scare Leftwich to call straight run plays to keep J from throwing the game away like he has numerous times before.

  18. Rashad Says:

On those last few third and shorts I’d rather see him use his legs. Still no complaints from me.

  19. DalvinCookRules Says:

I think even the biggest Winston critic out there would feel really stupid blaming this one on JW–if so, I can bet he or she probably owns a MAGA hat (or a dunce cap, which is really the same thing just without the racism).

This was more of a fail of the coaching staff after halftime–both on offense & defense. Certainly, Jason Licht is another one to blame for his inability to find a decent kicker despite all the wasted resources and draft picks.

  20. SteelStudBuc Says:

Tough day for Gay… I knew he would cost the game after he missed that first XP.

  21. Nemo14 Says:

Not blaming Jameis for the loss, but he had an opportunity to close that for us

  22. Pete I Says:

No I don’t but I still think Jameis isn’t going to be a consistent QB.

  23. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Bad turn over and lead his team to 3 points in the second half…

Franchise qbs step no stomp on their opponents throat

  24. Gino Says:

    Terrible int

Horrible miss on 6 yard pass for a first down late

    He is not blameless

  25. Jeffbuc Says:

F the bucs they will never get another dime from
Me. I will never buy another hat shirt anything.

  26. Buc50 Says:

Too many missed kicks and too many missed tackles. That’s what killed us.

  27. LargoBuc Says:

Oh no not politics! Please no!

  28. D-Rome Says:

Pitt, he took a knee on the left hash…

  29. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

    Bad coaching by Arians

Had a time out get your kicker closer

    STOP coaching scared!!!!!!!

  30. Destinjohnny Says:

Jameis had guys open all day he wasn’t seeing
I said it at the end of the game.
It was a total microcosim of his career
Some great passes, some awful passes, a lot of bad reads and a few good ones
    Not a bust not elite.
Can anyone say that if we they a choice between jameis or dan jones that they would take jameis over jones ??

  31. LargoBuc Says:

Im not blaming the kicker or Jameis. Im blaming the coaches.

  32. Oneilbucs Says:

Great game Jamies!!! You did your job . We need to let RoJo be the main running back. On 3rd and 2 we put 25 in he couldn’t get 2 yards. I hate the way defense played in the second half but 58 is a beast. We all most there we need to keep building our defense this year in the draft. PS…. Jamies need start back running the ball…… and we need a kicker!!!!

  33. Don_RyJo(e) Says:

I blame the kicker and 2nd half defense (minus Barrett). I mean, Jameis’ interception didn’t HELP things, but it wasn’t a “no risk it, no biscuit” kind of interception. It was a stoopid kind of interception (the most infuriating and, sadly, most characteristic of Jameis’ repertoire). We’ll see what happens.

  34. Pruritus Ani Says:

Holds the ball far too long which results in needless sacks. In critical situations he tries to force throws which results in interceptions. But today, there was enough blame to go around.

  35. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

    “My Dad and I

    bugged the headsets

1st half was all scripted offensive plays

BA let Leftfoot all alone in the 2nd half

Strange looked exactly like the 1st 2 games this season and 9 games in Arizona”

    Son of Kobe Faker

  36. Hodad Says:

Was his fault. He didn’t make enough plays in the second half to win. He took two long sacks, that were on him! Didn’t he see Jones making plays running when things broke down? At least twice he had protection, and held the ball to long, and took long sacks. Then there was the pick, after that they took the ball out of his hands, an ran for FG’s. Yes there’s plenty of blame to go around, but our franchise couldn’t put the fork in them. Jones made more plays then Winston, and won it for them. BA tried to hide Jameis to save a win.

  37. Jean Lafitte Says:

wasn’t JW’s fault …but we do need to finish with TD’s instead of FG’s. We again made a rookie QB look like a HOF. …but in the end D. Jones played a helluva game and the Giants may have found their franchise.

    Matt Jones got iced up

  39. Don Phillips Says:

Football is a team sport, and this sure the hell was a team loss from the head coach on down. Winning just isn’t in our culture. The sad thing is, no one seems to know how to fix it. Offense, Defense and special teams all $h!t the bed in this game!!

  40. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

The QB whisperer is overrated, get a new GM, hire bowles as HC, fire gary coleman as OC, get an NFL OC & GM, draft OL, then win

If Jameis hit Evans in stride that would have been a TD instead of a kneel and a missed field goal to finish.

You’re right, Evans had to basically stop running and come back to the ball.

  43. Boltsfan17 Says:

Of course he takes some of the blame along with the garbage defense and typical Buc special needs team.

JW is great in the first and then disappears. If that worthless K does his job JW gets the win and a lot of the 2nd half problems are forgotten. But that’s not what happened and the failings of the 2nd are magnified.

I’m not Winston guy and never have been but it would be wholly unfair to put all the blame on him.

  44. Cgmaster27 Says:

@destinjohnny he did not have guys running wide open, stop exaggerating. Every replay i saw, had guys covered , but keep playing the jameis derangement syndrom card. It suits you.

We all saw that but not Pittshore the all knowing Cliff Claven of JBF. You’re wrong Pittshore….just as Gay squared up to kick the ball Winston farted and he missed. That’s WHY it’s Winston’s fault!

  46. Oneilbucs Says:

Man if any of yall blaming Jamies it’s eather yall don’t know Football or yall just hate him or yall or just a bunch of racist White People!!!!

  47. SteveK Says:

I blame the offense going turtle in the second half. I guess some of that is on Jameis?

Good stats today, but the offense did nothing INT he second half, until the end.

It’s so damn frustrating to see this team lose by kicking, pass D, and inconsistent QB play.

Our team is not good enough to overcome any of those three things.

  48. Ricky Says:

    Bucs life and it sucks

  49. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Winston played one of his best games to date imo. He looked more decisive. There were a few plays where the old Winston flops and fumbles. He didn’t. The one int. seemed like he was expecting Evans to stop on the route because he was scrambling. He was able to hit a few good deep balls today. He took some smart checkdowns as well. I’m thoroughly pissed about the loss, but Jameis’ play stills leaves me thinking the Bucs can progress throughout the season. This one stings… Let’s see how a Bruce Arians team responds.

  50. Miller5252 Says:

Everyone’s taking blame for this s@&) show today! A good team doesn’t let this sorry giants team anywhere close. At halftime everybody was too busy congratulating each other and they thought they could coast….. the 50 coaches on the staff should have got these guys to close like contenders do. Sad… Winston has a crappy second half but gave a chance to win. Rojo was going and you pull him out to have Barber fall flat. Should have never came down to the kicker!!!

  51. rhenry Says:

When I saw those gay neon green shoes I knew exactly how this game would end.

  52. Zzbuc Says:

    No risk it no buiscuit!
What a joke …… some times the feeling is that the nuca are scared to win
i feel sorry for Evans Barret vea Rojo and a fee more, some others the NFL is a moon for them.!!!
    So Many missed tackles!!!
    Very very Poor coaching!!!

  53. Bosch Says:

Jameis is not to blame. By no stretch of te imagination.

  54. Red86 Says:

No. Jameis did his job. Gay is a pro kicker. It shouldn’t matter what hash the kick is taken. It’s was a easy kick. One of our safeties should have had a shot on Jones.

  55. SOEbuc Says:

SACK BARRETT HAS 8 SACKS IN THREE GAMES. TRADE JPP FOR A PRIME RT NOW!!!

  56. Buc1987 Says:

Jameis put this team in position to win at the end…..that’s all I got for ya!

  57. JimmyJack Says:

Don’t even care about Winston. He led us to victory and we could not convert a routine play. Nitpick and slice this game up however you wish but the kicker did lose us this game. Three routine kicks missed and when they fire the kicker they need to fire the GM with him because he is not good enough to find us a kicker.

We lost as a team today because we still don’t have a kicker. A problem that takes one off-season to fix is still broken after five years of Licht. He deserves no more chances.

  58. SFNJBucs Says:

Not this game. The kicker has to make the kicks. That said does anyone feel comfortable with this QB for five to seven years at 20-25 mil/yr. ? Not me.

  59. Tye Says:

    Destinjohnny: just based on that game;

Rookie Daniel Jones going against a strong defense and constant rushes play like he did
    or
Jameis against one of the worst defenses in the league
    yeah! I’d go with Jones.

  60. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says: Says:

The lose was not on Jameis…it was on the kicker…BUT Jameis had huge holes in his performance and the rookie playing in his first game was BRILLIANT and HEROIC !…

  61. ship thief Says:

    That was brutal.
    No doubt.
But it’s nice to see some of these new guys on the team.
    Shaq is totally on fire.
ME looked as awesome as he ever has.
Oh and geeeez do we have a new hard hitting safety or what?!
Good to see RoJo rolling this year… Plowing right through any integrity that Kobe Faker might have had…
I see some things I like a lot.

    But DANGIT!
I still can’t believe we just lost that game.

This is, hopefully, where our coaching staff comes in and makes a difference.

  62. Jimmy T Says:

    Gino
I’m sorry but that is the dumbest TAKE ever! He made one bad throw that cost them NOTHING & threw a perfect pass that should have ended the game! WTF were u watching

  63. Go figure Says:

I can’t believe Jameis missed that field goal!!!!!! I am tired of Jameis missing game winning field goals and not getting Defensive shutdowns!! He needs to be better than just offensive stuff!!! Do it all!!!!!!!!!!!!

  64. Bradentonbuc Says:

    Not his fault

  65. DB55 Says:

Cut Winston he didn’t go 8 for 8 with 8 TDs and 800 yards. Unacceptable the kid sucks

  66. Mike Evans Goat Says:

Definitely not on JW3 today. Matt Gay hit some big FGs in this game, but also missed 2 chip shots and had one blocked. Can’t be this hard to find a FLUCKIN KICKER. Shoulda signed Matt Bryant in the off-season just to break the curse.

  67. Jimmy T Says:

SFNJ, it’s not your money dummy! Daniel jones fumbled twice and should have had a pick right in Edwards hands so enough please! U Jameis haters r either prejudiced or simply stupid

  68. Bird Says:

    Nah dB

We ain’t getting cut He going 5 hole for you dawg

  69. Buc1987 Says:

To me it came down to the delay of game 5 yard penalty. That’s why he missed the kick. That’s ultimately why they lost. imo

  70. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Typical Jay Miss. He played a very good 1st half and a crappy 2nd half, when it mattered. The guy is simply an inconsistent journeyman QB. Daniel Jones outplayed him and won the game, without Saquon Barkley for most of it.

  71. rhenry Says:

Aside from our gay kicker, Bowles lost this game. He was out coached in the second half. Come on man, how do you fall for their last play “touchdown” and leave the entire middle of the field open. I called it before the ball was snapped. Hell, back in the day we would spank Michael Vicks ass but we let a rook run it right down our throats? The Bucs opened wide for that one. Tampa Bay Schmucks.

  72. Kgh4life Says:

Jameis has never been an accurate passer, however, the loss was not on him today.

  73. volbuc1 Says:

    Coaches fault today Period!!!

  74. A Train Says:

Three blames go out on this cluster F:

First one to BA, no excuse to take a delay of game with 13 seconds and a timeout

Second one to the defense in the second half, WTF happened? Din’t you know the kid can run?

Finally, our kicker, who is Gay, should be fired as I type.

(Bonus blame to Jason Licht for drafting 2 kickers and failing every single time)

  75. Bird Says:

    Our kicker is your third

  76. Greg Says:

In a word yes. The defense was bad, the kicker was bad. Jameis winston does not look comfortable at all in the pocket and repeatedly only targets one receiver. Anyone can throw to Mike Evans. Where were our tight ends? Where was Godwin. Where was Winstons trademark scrambling? Something stinks in Tampa and I did not know our Quarterback whisperer was going to be Leftwitch when we signed Arians. Is Winston to blame? Who cares! Even if he wasnt the problem (This time) he dam sure aint the solution.

  77. Ndog Says:

This article alone shows how pathetic this website is. Whoever wrote this should be ashamed.

  78. firethecannons Says:

Jameis brought us back to win the game. He is not responsible for Matt Gay’s level of play. He got us the lead which was lost by defense. Today’s loss is not on Jameis, he played well.

  79. A Train Says:

No particular order, could be in any order, really. But yes, we lost ultimately because the kicker simply cannot kick.

  80. The Freaken Says:

    No

  81. rrsrq Says:

    1. Went 🐢 in the second half
    2. Why did we not try to score a TD
    3. Why put this in the hands of a rookie kicker who has missed FG earlier
    4. Can’t take this

  82. SteveK Says:

How do we not score in the second half? I just don’t get that?

  83. SteveK Says:

    Kicking and defense was suspect*

  84. Atlanta Says:

Passed on Davlin and how bout the vito. Jamies needs to take his great game today somewhere else and let this. The GM is a complete idiot.

  85. SteveK Says:

We have some high picks and highly paid players on offense. Why does the offense not score in the second half?

  86. A Train Says:

I said in the third quarter “obviously, the Giants are doing something different, it is now on BA and his staff to make adjustments…let’s see if they earn their pay”

  87. Waterboy Says:

  88. Waterboy Says:

  89. Who Cares Says:

*Joes, how about a poll…just for fun.
Who would you prefer to lead the Bucs?
    1. America’s QB, national college champion, 5 year veteran, Winston
    or
    2. Rookie QB, from that Duke football factory, Jones.

  90. Rick Says:

I’ll take a boring, consistant, surgical, qb that can methodically move an offense down the field than a “put the team on my back”, throwing bombs, along with a few picks, qb any day. JW played a good game, and this loss isn’t on him. But no matter what changes around him, the losses, the mistakes, and the almost wins never seem to change. The Bucs will never win with Winston.

So Jameis throws for more yards, more TDs and had less TOs yet he was outplayed according to this grade A idiot above!

  93. Aceofaerospace Says:

Jameis Winston has 13 more games as a Buc. His boneheaded pick was the reason they stopped throwing until they were forced to. It only takes one “oh sh*t” to wipe out all your attaboys. And he does that on a regular basis. I’m so glad Winston put up big numbers. Yea. 0-2 at home. He’ll make a good backup on some other team next year.

  94. MTM Says:

Winston never finishes off a team with a 1st down to seal the game. Instead he deals it for the opposing team. The GM is utter garbage. If you can’t get a kicker in 5 tries. GTFO!

  95. unbelievable Says:

Not at all, but the morons like pittshore and Alvin and a-train will 100% blame it all on him.

    Same as it ever was.

    The Bucs are just awful

  96. EEK Says:

How is it possible that Winston makes everyone worse at football on this team?

Our kicker choked but we had the ball with the lead and all we needed were some first downs. Geez. It’s exasperating.

    Can we move on already?

I don’t know how I can hate this team anymore more than I do right now.

  97. Diesel Says:

Late in the game there was a 3rd & 2 inside the 10yd line and Leftwich called a run to 25 out of the shotgun formation. Of course 25 got nothing leaving them with a 4th & 2. Where was the “No Risk It No Biscuit” from BA in that situation? Instead of having the opportunity to close the game out, they took the 3pts. Then there was the 3rd down flare pass to 84 that should’ve went elsewhere, more specifically 44 or 80 in that situation. Then of course the last drive. There should’ve been one shot into the end zone before trying to kick the GW FG, which we missed after a DOG penalty smh

  98. Darin Says:

    Zz
Agree. Got outcoached and outplayed at home by a rookie qb and a shurmur. Pathetic. Thought the coaching wasnt gona cost us games anymore. Boy was i wrong.

  99. BucsBandit Says:

Winston had a much better game in this one but he is obviously too inconsistent and had a bad 2nd half aside from the final drive.

People also overlook a simple fact… THE GIANTS ARE ONE OF THE WORST DEFENSES IN THE NFL. They arguably have the worst secondary. So I give credit to Jameis for putting up some decent play in this game (at least for parts of it) but one has to take it with a grain of salt considering how bad the competition is.

  100. Hodad Says:

The game is sixty minutes. Jameis played half a good game. He couldn’t get his team more then six second half points. The rookie got his team 22 second half points. He threw for two, and ran for two. Jameis threw three TD’s. Jones accounted for four TD’s, Jameis three. Do the math we lost by a point. Jameis scores one firggin TD in the second half we win. The excuses have to stop. He didn’t do enough to win, that’s what franchise QB’s get paid for.

  101. Anonymous Says:

No, Jameis makes a few good decisions on third down and doesn’t hold onto the ball like he’s done since his first game, and they still have a chance to win. Yeah, Winston gave them a chance a to win at the end. And he also took away chances earlier in the game. You can’t have it both ways.

  102. DBS Says:

Typical red zone garbage It always comes back to bite them. Touch Downs. They run down and get? I don’t expect them to score eveytime But the rate is sick they settle for field goals. You can blame the kicker all you want but it shouldn’t have come to it. Not with the weapons on offense.

This comment might be the dumbest thing I have ever read. You sir are officially in the clueless club.

  104. Silent_Partner Says:

Stupid people will blame him. Yet again he brought this team back and the kicker or defense let him down. The pick led to nothing of consequence. He threw off balance. It has happened since the beginning of football. Again, it led to not points, no bad field position, no bad outcome. So why are you dummies even mentioning it? Oh rgiht, Buc fans aren’t that bright.

Also for the morons saying that Arians should have called timeout, what if your team has a botched snap dummies. The only place this belongs is squarely on the kicker. If it was 5 yards closer, he still pushed it. This is professional football. If Jameis missed a wide open throw, I’m sure you wouldn’t have the blame on anybody but him so stop looking around past who this is on, Gay.

  105. BucsBandit Says:

NBS – poor red zone play (at least consistently poor conversion) is all on the QB. Winston struggles in the red zone when the defenses can tighten up and takeaway certain plays that are much easier to complete on the rest of the field.

This is another reason why Winston is not a franchise QB. Forget the turnovers and inaccuracy issues he sometimes struggles with, just look at this career in the Red Zone. It’s terrible.

  106. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

    Hey dumba@s Ndog.
Why don’t you tell me about the 2nd half stats between your boy Jay Miss and Jones? Who gives a spit what happened in the 1st half. The bottom line is Jay MIss and the offense scored 3, yes 3 points in the 2nd half, though I will give you the fact that Jay MIss put them in position to score 6, yes 6 points against quite possibly the worst defense in football.
Go put on your Jay MIss jersey and watch the FSU-Pitt highlights, which was the best he’ll ever be. He just can’t cut it as a pro.

  107. July Joe Says:

Jameis played like an MVP. The TEAM sucked.

Jimmy G played like GARBAGE (3 turnovers and another fumble that was recovered) but his TEAM won.

  108. Tony LA Says:

    He looked really good

It takes time with a new system for both sides of the ball

Stop all this whining. It’s pathetic
    It’s a game.

The loser Tampa mentality is t just the team – it’s the whiny fans and media as well.

    Boo hop. Grow up

  109. BucsFan90 Says:

How many times have we seen Bucs defenses crumble in crunchtime or get picked apart by rookie qbs? How many times have Bucs kickers literally choke away games for us? Lost count at this point

  110. Old School Athlete Says:

I blame: 10% Winston for the pick and really bad sack, mostly he was sharp
    10% the Kicker
10% the corners for letting their WRs get so open in the 2nd half
70% whoever changed the game plan from “playing to win “ to “playing to not lose.”

  111. Who Cares Says:

It’s great to read everyone’s opinions. Question: Why are people labeled as racist if they don’t like Winston to lead their team? Does he get a pass because of his color? Hell no. He has to produce no matter what his color is. It’s just a ridiculous argument. A better argument is to look at overall QB rating, win loss record, TDs vs INTs, etc. He’s inconsistent and hasn’t grown as a QB going into his 5th year. He was beaten by a rookie making his 1st start. Time to go.

  112. Silent_Partner Says:

    BucsBandit ,

This isn’t Madden Football. They scored 31 points, should have been 36 if your kicker could kick straight. More than enough to win 95% of NFL games.

  113. Losinghope Says:

It’s not necessarily his fault but he definatly contributed to it. That int made the staff leery to trust him with the ball. Yeah he got us down there w a chance to win but it never should have come to that. With a 18pt lead you SMASH ur opponent. Ultimately it’s on the kicker but everyone is to blame to some degree

  114. Izzy Says:

Best qb in the history of nfl Brady
JW same numbers today, but missed field goal and 2 xtra points stop the hating be honest.

  115. Silent_Partner Says:

    Old School Athlete ,

The pick led to nothing of consequence. It didn’t even stop a good drive. It shouldn’t even be mentioned unless you have an agenda. Jones’ Mobility was the biggest issue for the Bucs today, and they got caught flat footed in defending that. As far as the coverage, those plays have been there the first two weeks, but Newton and Garoppolo couldn’t or didn’t hit them. At the end of the day, your kicker lost the game.

  116. Ed Says:

Loss wasn’t on Winston, he put up enough points to get them in the lead but the adjustments the Giants made at halftime shut down or confused Jameis. The Bucs defense was horrible covering receivers. The Bucs coaching during last 13 seconds mismanaged the game, you have to blame Arians for not attempting a touchdown. Don’t keep throwing out inexperienced kickers with hope they’ll win games.

  117. Rod Munch Says:

If you’re talking about Winston today you’re a an idiot that will hopefully trip and fall into a wood chipper since you’re too boring to live.

    God bless.

  118. 813bucboi Says:

That’s on gay…..kicker has to make his kicks….

    GO BUCS

  119. July Joe Says:

@WhoCares … you get a point for “stupidest post of the day”.

Jameis lost to Daniel Jones huh? I completely forget NFL QBs played 1-on-1 … STUPID.

  120. philips Says:

this game should have been 37-17 Bucs

  121. webster Says:

Dumbest fan base in america. And yes, if you are blaming jameis today, you are a hill billy racist idiot!!!

  122. passthebuc Says:

JW did what he was paid to do. It is what he does not do that is the problem. When you take off running and there is a first down ahead, quit stalling and just get the first down.

Take what they give you. when you have an open man, hit him instead of coming back to him when he has 3 men on him. Throw to where the receiver will be, not where he has been. These are the things that make one great. you could have taken a lesson from the giants rookie QB.

  123. webster Says:

Also, you hill billy racist used to say you rather see jameis take a sack as oppose to throwing a wild pass. He has been doing that. Also, ronde AND tiki said multiple times today that there was no where for jameis to throw the ball and they showed as such on replay yet you hill billy racist still blame him? This is a classic case of you are damed if you do and damned if you dont. The reality is the defense let us down again with 3 minutes to go and the kicking game let us down again like it has for the past 4 years. Jameis is not the issue

  124. Jmon300@gmail.com Says:

Jameis is doing good he is going to be extended this year. In no way is the season over for us I’m excited to see what our team is made of these next few weeks. Bad game for the defense

  125. Buc727 Says:

Well, well, well, journeyman QB, he was supposed to take a knee on the left hash mark, he didn’t hit Evans in stride, he didn’t make enough plays in the second half, he’s not accurate, he played crappy in the second half(when it mattered), he makes everyone worse, he’s too inconsistent, he can’t cut it as a pro, it’s not necessarily his fault but he defiantly contributed to it(the loss), It is what he does not do that is the problem. I’m sure that every one of these commenters were wearing red hats, but not Bucs hats, either maga or hammer and sickle.

  126. VA Tom Says:

I’ve been calling Jameis “Americas Turnover Machine” as a tongue in cheek barb at Lee’s “Americas QB” moniker. I have to admit I have been impressed with Jameis the last two games. He’s cut the stupid throws. He now needs to focus on the timer in his head. If he isnt going to step up and run, he needs to exit the hashes and throw the ball away. But suffice it to say if he stays on this trajectory of minimizing INTs then this season is a plus. I’m going to have to take it easy on him if he keeps up the improved play. I would like to see him continue to improve. I certainly dont want to see this franchise unload a good player. Keep up the learning Jameis. And throw the GD ball away instead of taking the 12yd losses on each sack please. Once in a while is understandable.

  127. runnerdoc Says:

If the staff is leery to trust Jameis after a single pic, it’s on them. The man played winning football with both his arm and his head. Better to put the game exclusively on an inexperienced RB and Kicker? BTW, a 6 point lead is no different than a 3 point lead, as a TD beats you. Simply poor decision making by the coaches late in the 4th quarter.

  128. Rob Tanner Says:

Gay left 5 points on the field before the attempt at the end. It’s gays fault. It’s always the gays.

  129. Siege the Bay Says:

Regardless of stats Jameis did what he was supposed to do. He put us in the position to win it. If the kick goes in it’s the perfect game plan. When you take risks it causes turnovers, when you go conservative, everyone has to do their job. Jameis did his job

  130. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Stats are for losers, and Winston IS a loser in the NFL. Truth, like it or not.

  131. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

While the pick was all on him, he more than made up for it with the 3 touchdowns. He was good in the game, still making good choices. The one pick was because he threw the ball too high for Mike to make a catch that he normally would make (he’s a jumper).

It was his fault, but not a mental mistake.

  132. July Joe Says:

    ^ @MorgustheMisguidedManiac

HALL OF FAMER Dan Fouts was 12-30-1 in his first 5 seasons
He also had 6 “Game Winning Drives”

HALL OF FAMER Fran Tarkenton was 23-39-3 in his first 5 seasons
He also had 7 “Game Winning Drives”

Jameis Winston has a better win % than both of those HALL OF FAMERS had
He also has 9 “Game Winning Drives” and a bunch more like yesterday …

IDIOTS like MORGUS would have given up on both of them as well … err, maybe not, because they’re white …

  133. Anonymous Says:

    Bonsai

The ball was BEHIND , not too tall…

    What were you watching?

  134. Bucs9) Says:

20+ yrs watching my Bucs, can’t recall being speechless for this long. I’ll say we need to NOT dare point fingers @ Jameis! We did MORE than enough to win & Evans had a historic day. I don’t remember many of his catches being wide open throws. Jameis made some million dollar throws to him & the one on the last drive was ON POINT!

Once again if you want a perfect QB then go be a Pats fan, most human beings are gonna make mistakes @ the position. So Jameis played MORE than good enough to win. You don’t have to throw stones when we lose @ him all the time SMH

  135. Bill Macy Says:

Three missed kicks cost the game. Simple as that. Make those three kicks and we win. Both teams made some big plays. Both teams got beat on some plays. But the game was lost by the kicker. Simple as that. Winston played good enough to win. Mike Evans was a star. Where were the other receivers? RJ made some great runs busting tackles for extra yards. Godwin? Brate? Second half the Bucs looked too conservative. Thought they had the game won and sat on the lead. The Giants got the ball back way too often because the Bucs could not grind it out. Gotta play the whole game aggressive. But make the kicks and you still win the game. Too conservative 2nd half and missed kicks. I blame coaches for conservative 2nd half play calling and the kicker for the loss. Shaq off the edge and Vita and Suh plugging the middle played great.
