Rookie safety Mike Edwards and Bruce Arians talk about his injury

Certain types of player injuries seem to get under the skin of Bucco Bruce Arians and fester like a boil.

Joe doesn’t have a firm handle on exactly what irritates Arians but it seems like he’s not big on pains, pulls and strains. At least not all of them.

Joe sometimes feels the public pressure/tension Arians puts out there when it comes to certain players’ injuries.

Asked about rookie safety Mike Edwards today, who has been nursing multiple issues this summer, including a hamstring, Arians was quick and firm. “Your guess is as good as mine. I’m not a doctor. I know he’s out.”

Last week, however, Edwards talked to manbeast JoeBucsFan.com intern Zachary Seifter and Edwards said, “Oh, yeah. For sure,” when asked if he would be ready for opening day against the 49ers at the Den of Depression.

Edwards told Seifter he wasn’t being rushed back. The way Arians spoke today, you got the feeling he wouldn’t mind a little more urgency.

Remember, the Bucs signed former Broncos Pro Bowl and Super Bowl safety Darian Stewart six days ago.

Didn’t Stewart get destroyed by Fitzmagic?

  2. TDTB Says:

The Bucs selected Edwards before Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was selected ( (we’ll get to see him suit up twice a year for the Saints). Edwards seems to have flashed some during practice and may prove to be the better selection…but Gardner-Johnson was universally viewed as a better prospect. No way to predict injuries, but when you go against convention with your picks the injuries add fuel to the fire.

  3. Clean House Says:

    Chauncey Gardner for President

  4. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Arians will probably fail here (sorry near impossible for any coach to fix a QB, OL, Special Teams and defense in one offseason) but his press conferences are great

  5. tmaxcon Says:

the only health issues arians needs to worry about is to ensure a cardiologist next to him at all time when dotston is impersonating an offensive linemen…. Death By RT will be the official cause for BA’s next retirement.

  6. Todd Says:

You dye your hair funky, you’re inviting injury.

    Fact.

    I have anonymous sources.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

The injuries just seem to keep piling up right now. Not a good way to start off the season, especially with a schedule like ours. Most of the injuries seem to be on the defensive side of the ball (what’s new) and HOPEFULLY we have better depth there now than on the offensive side of the ball. Still, we’re gonna need our offense to score a bunch of points (early-on especially), control the clock and minimize turnovers until this defense gets healed up.

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Again..No Excuses. Other team got injuries also. Batter up Bucs. At this rate, The 49ers are going to be a tough out for our Bucs.

  9. Stanglassman Says:

It’s not like these guys worked their whole life for this opportunity only to fake an injury to get out of practice. As soon as the Doctors clear them, they go. It’s not like they have a choice.

  10. Jim Says:

Why I don’t agree with the “play it safe and just don’t get hurt” approach to pre-season. Play to win, play to dominate. If a player is injury prone, better to know that before the games count.

  11. Jim Says:

BTW, Cleveland will be very physical on Friday, so better be ready…

  12. Bucnjim Says:

There are guys who will play with a broken bone and then there are guys who will fake injuries just to get out of practice. Worse yet I’ve seen players this past decade who have faked injuries to get taken out of blowout games to make it look like they had nothing to do with it. Millenials seem to struggle with the difference between injured and hurt. Or maybe they think banged up means they can stay home and hit the bong all day and play Madden. For the life of me I can’t figure out why hockey players can get half their teeth knocked out and be back on the ice after 30 stitches and then you have certain Bucs/ex Bucs players who cry like a baby with a simple sprained ankle.

  13. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Seems the new nfl & sports science have led to so many more nagging injuries compared to college football

  14. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Arians is old school. Unless you need to be on IR, you play. I think he’s more tough on the younger players to get back because he wants to see that they want it bad enough. He knows that being hurt and being injured are two different things. If Arians is on a guy to get back, there is a reason. It’s only his opinion, since he’s not a doctor, but it’s an informed opinion.

  15. DB55 Says:

If Miles Garrett likes up opposite of Dotson I hope Jameis just walks off the field.

    RUN JAMEIS RUN

  16. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

pushups to failure and 1-legged squats to failure every 15 minutes on the sidelines during practice always seemed to get guys healthy quickly… may need to try it out

  17. Cubano Bucanero Says:

Literally for every draft pick you guys have someone else the bucs should’ve taken. And point it out at any sign of distress. And claim to know all there is to know about that other player. Really annoying

  18. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

pretty much jason licht misses during his tenure of running the bucs draft would have made the bucs playoff ready now, like laremy tunsil & this year greedy williams; edwards is/was a good solid player at UK but taking bunting over greedy is a head scratcher

  19. DB55 Says:

We should sign McDonald and Ayers again!

  20. Pittsshore Says:

Just like the Arizona Cardinals knows about his own “heart conditions” that mysteriously arises after he sunk the franchise by medaling with player personnel. The cash got low and he had his agent and has to come up with a “master plan” on bowing to con another organization. You will find later that Jason Licht May have possibly been involved in the con.

  21. Ha Ha Buc Fans I Got a Contracrt extension and there is nothing you can do about it Says:

    Another quality Licht pick!

  22. webster Says:

Covintional wisdom? Buc fans are the dumbest. People/fans/draft experts bashed the colts for drafting a d2 mlb in the second round over players like ronald jones because the colts needed a running back. The colts got a D- for that pick after the draft. That d2 mlb went on to lead the league in tackles, a pro bowler, all pro and voted in the top 20 on the nfl top 100 players while jones went on to have 1 td and 88 yards from scrimmage. Hey dumb buc fans, you dont draft based off narrative. You draft who you feel is the best player. Mel kiper , kirk herbstreet, todd mcshay etc is not the end all be all. Do you hear me now?

  23. JimmyJack Says:

Cubano…….A main reason for that is because College football is huge in Florida. Our fans watch so much college ball and it leads them to overvalue prospects.

That’s why they give up their fandom every year and root for us to lose at the end of the year. Their fantasy of college prospects clouds their judgement badly. Reality is that a few draft slots is proven over time to be a very negligible difference.

Another reality these college fans are blind to is the value of 2nd & 3rd round choices. These players bust at a extremely high rate and are not the bonefided starters some fans try to sell them as.

This is why 4th rounders like Kwon and Beckwidth become instant starters in the league while 1st rounders bust…….Hype over measurables is overblown. The immeasurables is a major difference make. If it wasn’t then no UDFA would ever make it but it happens every year.

Don’t worry about them fans and don’t let them fool you. At the end of the day all the college kids they talk about are raw and completely unproven no matter how much College guy wants to deny it. But you are right. They are freaking annoying.

  24. Old School Athlete Says:

DB55 what you said about Miles Garrett is truly frightening. I may not sleep tonight.

  25. JimmyJack Says:

College guy was jumping for joy when we got Noah Spence. Told us how much of a steal he was in the draft. Told us he was a bonefided 1st round talent…………..You will never hear college guy tell us he was way off base with that pick. But college guy will tell us all about who we should of took this year that we missed.

He will puff his chest out when he looks good like Derwin James last year but will never talk about Derwin James this year when there is nothing to brag about.

There are over 350 prospects from college every year so if college guy is wrong about one guy he wanted he can always find another guy to brag about. College guy has a never ending supply of ammunition and will always have something to say “I told you so” about. College guy is full of hot air.

  29. JimmyJack Says:

Webster shut your dorittos hole. Don’t trash our fanbase cause you lost a grip on reality. You’re the only one who sounds dumb on here cause your talking about a handful of Buc fans. The rest of us support the pick even if we did want another prospect or not. Calling out the entire fanbase shows just how clueless you are. You are dumber then the dumb and trash your own fans to boot. You are in the lowest of tiers of all fans.

I must have hit a nerve. Therefore i put you in the company of dumb buc fan. If i didnt hit a nerve, you would have understood exactly what i was saying. Obviously you dont. You are the idiot buc fan that doesnt even understand or know that the patriots have wiffed on many drafts and thats why billecheck cuts players in two years. Jason licht does the same thing with picks and free agents. He said he learned that practice from billicheck. So yes you are a idiot buc fan if you cry about a player you hope the bucs would have picked over the guy they did pick. The draft is a crap shoot idiot. Thats why kwon, brady, antonio brown etc were late round picks. Thats why many defensive lineman like gaines adams, flowers, the guy the dolphins pick 4 years ago suck, the guy san fran picked 3 ago suck. All top 5 picks. Thats why the dlineman from kentucky can suck this year and forever. THE DRAFT IS A CRAP SHOOT!!!!! The fact tampa fans dont understand that is comical. Educate yourself!!!!

Using a bum like kwon in the same sentence as brady proves your the dumbest fan of any team period….

  36. BigMacAttack Says:

Dekoda Watson playing well tonight. I still don’t understand why the Bucs cast him off. He could block punts and cause fumbles. Always a solid player. I just hope this season isn’t over before it starts…. like every other season.

  37. webster Says:

    Jimmy jack

Fyi…tampa is the dumbest fan base period. We dont support the rays because of a bridge when we initially said we dont support the rays due to the losing. The rays have been one of the better teans over the past 11 years yet the city does not support. The steelers rally behind big ben eventhough he has had 2 sexual assault alligations while in the nfl. They feel vindacated that antonio brown is acting a fool for the raiders now. Yet this dumb fan base rake winston over the coals. If you dont see the stupidity of this fan base, so be it. This fan base actually rallied behind fitztragic eventhough he has played on 10 teams. No other fan base has done that. If you dont think this fan base is dumb then that willl be your little secret.

Cancer93 lvd and kwon were key leaders on some of the defensive units in nfl history…. if these bums were / are so great why do they own so many basement titles, worst of records and have ruined the careers pf 4 regimes lol you would not recognize a great player if it was hugging you… sapp carried 55 simple as that 55 never led the team to a postseason victory or a single meaningful win without sapp….plus he hung on way to long it was truly sad watching him attempt to play football those years without sapps coattails to ride

  43. tmaxcon Says:

Hall of fame was rendered meaningless the day dungy the ignorant one dimensional clown was enshrined ….

  44. JimmyJack Says:

Yes you did hit a nerve that’s why I responded. I see people like you a lot who say this crap all the time about our fanbase. I’ve grown tired of it. Folks like you don’t know how to argue or discuss so when you disagree you resort to childlike namecalling. Then take it so far as to label the entire fanbase. You are the stain on the fanbase nobody else……And when this is how you make a argument you proove to all of us that you are the dumb one.

I could set here and argue your points(If you don’t think some fans in Pittsburg did not support Been through his problems you’re a fool and you are dead wrong) but there is little point. You’ve already made your stance and if some people don’t agree with you then everybody is a idiot.

Go back to your old team cause we don’t want you in our fanbase. I doubt you break the norm and 9 times out of 10 jerks who constantly lash out at our fanbase are transplants who aren’t Tampa guys at heart and want us to be like their trash Yankee fanbases they formerly came from.

Like i said this is an idiot fan base. Not once did i say every fan was an idiot but as a whole yes. This is the same fan base that s#!+ on the nba eventhough the nba is the 2nd most popular sport in america. All national sports talk radio/tv shows will talk nba before golf, baseball, hockey etc. I have many friends/fan from other places that ask me whats up with this town not liking the nba? The nba’s revenue is more than baseball/hockey etc. Nba tv deals is way more than baseball/hockey etc yet this fan base tries to sell the nba aint s#!+. Combine with the idiot football fans equate to an idiot fan base. Dont get mad at me for telling the truth.

  48. D1 Says:

    Webster,

How did Tampa sh@t on the NBA? I understand the popularity and market appeal but I don’t get what you’re referring to. Can you elaborate?

  49. webster Says:

    D1

Yes i can elaborate. Every sports radio personality in tampa poo poo on the nba. They say the nba is not like the 80’s or jordan days so they bash it. Whenever there is a local sports personality that talk about the nba, they get calls and text from fans that say why are you talking about the nba? Why? Because the fans have been led to believe the nba sucks. The dan patrick show is on the air for 3 hours a day yet tampa fans complain because they feel the dan patrick show talks too much basketball. Tampa fan only wants to talk about the rays or the lightning etc. They do not want to educate themselves and learn about all teams/sports. Thats why many on this board and throughout the city feel that jameis is the reason the bucs are 21- 35 since he has been the qb. They do not watch other teams play because if they did, they would know it takes more than a qb to win nfl games. Also, tampa fan will say because we have beaches and a lot of things to do, thats why we dont support the rays or get behind the bucs etc. Tampa is the 11th largest market in the US yet we perform like we are the 111th. Dumb fan base. Do you hear me know?

Btw…i love my tampa teams. Go back and look at all my post. You will never see me bashing a player constantly. I am a certified fan of my tampa teams. Look at their attendance the past 6 years when they were only winning 25 games. Tampa is an idiot fan base period AND IM FROM HERE!!!!!!!!

    —————————-
Yo webster: my hubby is a long-time employee of the Orlando Magic–NBA team, BTW. I don’t recall the Tampa area nor its sports fans dissing the team. I wouldn’t blame them if they did as the Magic have been the ‘Tragic’ for many years!

  54. webster Says:

    Orlbucfan

1st of all i did not say tampa fan diss the magic. I said tampa fan diss the nba as a whole. Come on man. And as for the magic being “tragic”, dont let the previous 5 years fool you. In the past 27 years, the magic have finished over .500 17 times. Perception is not reality but again you probably like to be told what truth is without actually researching the truth.
