Vita Vea’s Progress

August 31st, 2019

Update.

Keep your fingers crossed, Bucs fans.

Given the words from Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians yesterday in his day-after presser, there is a very real shot Bucs stud nose tackle Vita Vea could suit up for the season-opener a week from tomorrow against the 49ers at the Den of Depression.

Arians was asked about injuries. He scoffed at a question about linebacker Lavonte David, waving his hand in the air saying, “Aw, he’s fine.”

With Vea, well, Arians suggested the door is open for him to play in eight days.

“Yeah, he’s progressing very nicely,” Arians said. “I’ll know more by Tuesday and he’ll be here all weekend working out. It’ll be close, but I think he’ll be there.”

Damn that’s good news to hear. Initially, when Vea hurt his knee in training camp, folks at One Buc Palace feared he might be lost for the season. Turned out the knee was much better than feared, but even then, it seemed Vea might miss a month.

A week or so later, Joe asked about Arians possibly being ready for Opening Day, and Arians didn’t rule it out saying, “I hope so.”

Now it seems there is a decent shot he will be ready.

Call it one of the rare times Lady Luck has smiled upon the Bucs.

Suh & Vea, pick your double team… Good luck! Staying healthy will obviously be the key. Can’t wait, and once JPP comes back… WHAAAAT?! Let’s go

  2. Chris K Says:

Thank God we didn’t draft that injury prone safety and drafted this beast instead!

  3. Jason S. Mclaurin Says:

I don’t think he or LVD will play week 1. I think LVD will at least be ready by week two and Vea maybe in week 4. I think our surprise injury return opening day is J. Evans although I feel all these guys should not be rushed back out. These guys have minor injuries that will turn serious. If Arians was smart he bring LVD back week 2, J. Evans week 3 and Vea in week 5 or coming off the bye when we get JPP back as well

  4. Howard Cosell Says:

Vea’s upper arms are bigger than Howards thighs

  5. Defense Rules Says:

Jason… You did see that Justin Evans didn’t play Thursday because of a bum wheel right? And JPP coming back right after our bye is a pipe dream. Both of them need TIME to heal up properly. No need to rush things and jeopardize their careers. And I’ll trust what BA says about LVD & Vea, at least until they don’t show up for Game 1.

Chris K “Thank God we didn’t draft that injury prone safety and drafted this beast instead!”

Not too fast, Vita doesn’t have the greatest record in staying healthy either.

  7. Jeff Says:

LVD and VV will not play against the Niners. Mark the tape. Let’s get them to 100% and then bring them back.

  8. Chris K Says:

@Alabama, I’m obviously trolling the trolls. Vea has been called injury prone by a group of FSU/James fans for missing the start of last season. Now we’re here in 2019 and Vea is on track for a speedy recovery even if he misses a game or two and James is done for the season. So James has passed Vea in the injury prone column, so we Bucs fans don’t need to hear that ignorant commentary anymore.

  9. I hate players that are soft Says:

His “rehab” progress and when he returns is directly related to the heat. As long as it’s hot he will stay “injured”

  10. Tony1775 Says:

I hope Arians is ready by opening day, and Vea. Just a typo Joe, but seriously maybe we should sit him week one.

  11. Infidel Strong Says:

Vea and LVD return, Dorian staying to the east and I got a month of alcohol in my house. Lady Luck indeed.

  12. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Jason hit the nail on the head! Joe, I am sure you guys are bright enough to figure out Arians by now. Vita will not be playing anytime soon. I would guess that week four is still the date he will return. Arians is one of the old school coaches who tries to brush off injuries. He doesn’t want players to think they can wait as long as possible to return to the field and therefore makes these comments. It is a little annoying though as it gives fans a false sense of hope…at least the ones who aren’t really paying attention. Of course when Joe buys into and writes an article about it only adds to the nonsense.

  13. BucEmUp Says:

Need him for the full season..More.important to have Vea and JPP playing on the same line at the same time with Suh and Nassib for the lenght of the season. Hopefully he is listening to his body and the all worlf doctors ay.one buc do beyter than what they are known for

  14. Marine Buc Says:

I heard Vita Vea holds a world record. Worlds biggest China Doll.

  15. runnerdoc Says:

    Week 4? Total Nonsense.

  16. WhatTheBuc Says:

Oh God. Chris just started a troll war

  17. tmaxcon Says:

Typical low standard bucfan acting like an injury prone bum who has had a couple of good games is great and a proven commodity… most of you fools are still hanging on to the mentally weak lvd’s one and only good season under schiano and think that career loser is great too

  18. Destinjohnny Says:

D hasn’t looked bad but no one’s has been game planning either.
    Still it’s a a good sign

  19. WhatTheBuc Says:

Do you guys have some secret medical report? Are you basing your analysis on absolutely zero evidence and no medical degree? How do you know that LVD isn’t 100%. Dr. James Andrews couldn’t evaluate LVD with a medical report but you guys here have diagnosed the exact duration of his injury and rehab. Interesting…

  20. 813bucboi Says:

i would rather have them for week2….division game on a short week….let them come back fresh….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  21. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

@what the buc – what they and I are basing this on is what the initial diagnosis and timeframes were when the injuries first occurred. Arians MO is to say they could be back at any time. He was very vague with his statement above and that was intentional. That was a message to Vea that he needs to be back as soon as he can. Unfortunately for Bruce the doctors almost certainly were not a month off with their original diagnoses.

  22. Chris K Says:

@WhattheBuc. Lol.. It won’t start a troll war. They will read how dumb my comments actually are and then realize theirs were just as stupid.

  23. Hodad Says:

These two have been sitting out because they are entrenched starters. They’ve been here since day one, through all the OTA’s, and know the system, unlike JPP. B.A., and Bowles have used this time to get a better look at other guys. Both will start next week, book it.

  24. CHRIS Says:

Vita will be back week 2 just trust me I know a guy.

  25. BringBucsBack Says:

Chris K, I didn’t know that D. James is gone for the season. That’s too bad. I’m not an FSU honk however, VV didn’t play half of last year, hasn’t played in a game this preseason or regular season, yet. He’d have to play 8-10 games this year to total a full season. Didn’t James play an entire year last year?

I’m pulling for the lad but, so far, he’s barely part-time. He’s just been adding sweat to Sweezey’s floppy-hat!

  26. Sydney Says:

They’re just trying to hoodwink the 49ers. He’s out 3 more weeks.

This was obviously posted by a person wearing his /her jammies, seated in their comfy gaming chair in the air conditioned basement at Grandma’s house

  28. Bojim Says:

Please please don’t rush him. Please?
