Bruce Arians And Officials

August 31st, 2019

Officials need practice.

Damn, Joe is going to enjoy this Bucco Bruce Arians.

The Bucs’ coach was at his entertaining best yesterday when he got to talking about officials. Now most NFL observers have all but agreed preseason is a total waste and an obscene money grab, and should either be cut in half or downright abolished.

But Arians hinted there is a reason not only to keep the preseason at four games, but perhaps to expand it. Why? Arians said officials need the work.

Joe has noticed in two games Arians blowing a gasket at officials so badly Joe thought the head coach was going to need another physical, this time on the sidelines. And this is preseason!

Arians was asked in his day-after presser about the new ability to challenge pass interference calls.

“We keep talking about these players going to two preseason games, I don’t know how the hell we are going to officiate with only two preseason games?” Arians said. “Those guys need more work than we do. They need at least four [games] — maybe six.”

Even in the press conference Arians got irritated talking about how a Bucs receiver was flagged when a defender ran into him on a slant.

“They called us for a pick play last night when the guy was running a damn slant and it was obvious they ran into him,” Arian said in as he slapped the desk of the podium in frustration. “We’re not going to run a pick play five yards downfield, that’s stupid!”

This then begs the question: If the Bucs believe it is stupid to run a pick play five yards downfield, does that mean it is savvy to run a pick play 30 yards downfield?

You could hear him cussing out the refs on this tv. The booth guys were laughing, saying things slip through on live tv.

    Arians is fun.

The refs have targeted the Bucs for years. Good to see some accountability.

Reffing is the worst part about the NFL. Seems to be a flag on every other freakin play.

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

Joe will enjoy this until the refs are not giving the bucs even less call then they do anyhow for ole stale biscuit calling them out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask the over paid center if he gets called more in a buc’s jersey than what he was able to get away with wearing the ravens uniform!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While joe and the sheep are excited for the press conferences, the “real” fans will be disappointed of the on the field performances!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is to another wasted season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one has targeted the bucs that’s laughable even coming from the elf master. when you suck and field a minor league roster every year you are IRRELEVANT NOT TARGETED…..no one makes excuses or lives in denial like low standard bucfan

Joe…teams run “pick plays” all the time. I’d compare it to Offensive holding… it happens all the time, and what is sometimes is called holding and sometimes isn’t, is a mystery to me. And some officials, it appears.

  6. Hodad Says:

The answer is simple. Have every NFL crew travel to training camp practices, and ref every scrimmage, 7 on 7 whatever. Players have training camp to train, why not the refs? If it requires making these guys full time employees do it, you’re a multi billion dollar business. The amount of flags being thrown in the preseason has dragged the game down. Every time there’s an exciting play, there’s a flag. Let these guys hash out these calls during training camp, getting the officials, and players on the same page before the games begin.

Welcome to Tampa Bay, Coach Bruce Arians! I hope you did your homework on the history of the Bucs vs. the NFL zebras. Tony Dungy figured it out, and he and Kiffin coached Tampa Bay to outplay the refs as well as the opposing team. That’s one big reason why Bucs won a SB. BA is learning.

  8. J Says:

Orlbucfan…that’s gotta be the largest amount of horse sh!t I’ve ever read. You actually believe Dungy, Kiffin or anyone for that matter would waste time to scheme for refs? You’re an idiot. Did you steal mommy and daddy’s password and get on their computer? Clearly it’s nap time.

    J

your an idiot….. dude.. i am an a-hole but you calling a little old lady an idiot right off the bat is a punk move dude. I never agree with the crazy old lady but show her some respect youngin!!!!

dungy never won a damn thing how many times do we have to go over this…. dungy the clown coached a highly ranked defense on a bad team that could not win in the post season…

Bucs have ALWAYS got the shaft from refs. Offensive PI, illegal hands to the face two penalties that rarely get called around the league seem to get called on us every week. Hate it.

  11. BringBucsBack Says:

These referees should be well-trained with continued training and full-time during the season and NOT Podiatrists from Green Bay. (Old school Bucs reference)

It’s only a multi-billion dollar corporation, for cryin’ out loud. And, a league official (or officials at HQ) should be present at the games and have the ability to overrule an OBVIOUS & BLATANT bad call, such as the PI in the playoffs last year.

Well these musings would be prudent if Vegas didn’t exist.

  12. lambchop Says:

Time to get some sensors and AI involved in this and get rid of the zebras!

  13. Buddy Says:

Quit being a grumpy old man Bruce. You’re coaching a half assed crappy team. You’re lucky you have a job. Shut up and take that dumb hat off
