JPP Shares A Thumbs-Up

August 27th, 2019

Feeling happy

After Friday’s uplifting Jason Pierre-Paul sighting, Bucs fans were flowing with optimism that maybe, just maybe, JPP would shake off his fractured neck and scare opposing quarterbacks by Halloween.

(Yes, Joe realizes Halloween marks the unofficial start of NFL Draft season in Tampa, but keep an open mind to positive change.)

Well, yesterday, JPP took to Instagram to deliver a cryptic message to fans. You can see it below. He felt compelled to share his image in a Bucs uniform giving the thumbs-up sign.

Does this mean JPP just got cleared by doctors to ditch his neck brace and start basic football training?

Or perhaps was it just something simpler, such as he got notice that he’s healing well and his career isn’t in jeopardy? Or maybe he just watched film of the Bucs defense against the Browns?

For a guy who hasn’t practiced this season, JPP sure keeps things interesting.

  3. Mort Says:

Just showing off the fingers he has left. Might as well, I guess.

  4. 813bucboi Says:

with our luck, it means nothing….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  5. NOSBOS Says:

Some of y’all slow man. Been dating from the jump he’s playing week 1. Even gave an explanation as to why.

  6. NOSBOS Says:

Now, I don’t know about every community. But in the one I grew up in a thumbs up I’d very significant. It says “I’m good or I’m ready dawg😡”. Let’s get it den JPP😡..

  7. Ptwalk Says:

I think it means everything is right on schedule and we can expect his return. And he’s excited.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I would tape my thumb up for the rest of my life for the $15 mil he is getting….

  9. Sydney Says:

He’s going to retire in October.

  10. SCBucsFan Says:

Only a Buc fan would wish bad things on the best player on our roster to get to the QB. Because, you know, none of you has made decisions you regret.

  11. DCBucsfan Says:

Or it could ve been a strategy from his agent so he can avoid the team roster cut! Whatever it comes down to, good luck to JPP! He deserves it!

  12. macabee Says:

We’re going to know JPP’s fate by Saturday 4pm which is the deadline for the 53 Roster cut down. The issue is whether his status remains the same Active/NFI which means they expect him back sooner rather than later; IR which means he gives up his roster spot, can come back after a specified period of time if designated as one of two players on IR to return but will still be paid; Reserve PUP which mean he can come back after 6 games but gives up his roster spot until he returns but will still be paid; Reserve/NFI which means he gives up his roster spot and may not be paid the remaining 7.5mil on his existing contract and may not return (same as LB Kendell Beckwith); or he may be cut which I doubt. The Bucs have alternatives. Go Bucs!

  13. Buccernutter Says:

Everyone hears neck injury and flips out. the guy is one of the fastest healers i’ve seen and he barely misses games while injured all the time. He DID NOT stay the night in the hospital so his injury was not as severe as some would expect.

Shedded the neck brace already, showed up to the game last week, now this. I’m just saying a late October comeback could be worst case scenario at this pt.

Like Mcabee said we’ll know sunday but if he comes back sooner than later…. this defense is going to be LEGIT. Bruce may be fooling everyone and just drop him in the lineup one week without anyone expecting him

Just think this defense is without Vea, Lavonte and JPP so far in preseason. fully healthy we could be top 10. don’t sleep.

  14. DoooshLaRue Says:

….. or maybe he’s just a lot more creative when it comes to missing practices…..unlike say, ME13 with his “mystery” injuries every preseason!

  15. El Buco Realisto Says:

I think he was trying to throw up a “L” for lost season!!!!!!!!!!! But could not with missing fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???

  16. NOSBOS Says:

Suh,Vea,JPP the new 2019 Beastie Boys on fleeekkk.. Now slob who you want. I’m rollin wit my crew. Most devastating D line in the NFL this season.

  17. rrsrq Says:

It’s a miracle (really just didn’t want to go through training camp) I’m good

  18. tmaxcon Says:

It’s a thumbs up he’s going to get paid and is almost healthy enough to do something else stupid… one of the dumbest players in the history without question

  19. NOSBOS Says:

Standing right there talking with LVD on the sideline. LVD without so as a bandaid on his surgically repaired knee. You people go for anything.

  20. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Why don’t you just give him a call and ask him ?

  21. NOSBOS Says:

Now, seeing is how y’all can actually see him now. Let’s re-visit this best D line in the league this season conversation. Last week some were like the browns will have the best D line. Any wagers anyone my group will be better in every statistical category. And I mean ANYONE.

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

And up next on the Mike Johson turntable…. Its the..JPP Band singing, Eyes a Sweeney replica…….Hit it Boyz…..

  23. NOSBOS Says:

D@#$ all a of sudden it’s crickets in this muhh🤬. Where is all the concern when it comes to a pass rush now I ask.

  24. geno711 Says:

    @macabee
    Had it correct as always.

The active/NFI will mean that JPP will count against the 53 man roster limit. He returns to practice as soon as his own doctor clears him.

Interestingly, in theory the NFI designation should mean that the team does not have to pay you the salary. However, that is not typically the case. Those issues can be heard by a special master. For instance in 2008 the Giants tried to withhold Plaxico Burress salary for the gun shot wound but the special master ruled against the Giants and Plax got his dough.

  25. ModHairKen Says:

All the finger jokes are as stupid as the Gay jokes about the Kicker. Work harder people.

  26. Jore Says:

So the Bucs passing rushing is solved because a dude is wearing shorts watching practice???

  27. NOSBOS Says:

Wager jore??? What you wanna do???

  28. NOSBOS Says:

John Abraham and Dwight Freeney were in shorts and floppy hats before joining BA a week before the season started. So again, what we wagering???

  29. J Says:

Mind numbing articles a plenty here on jbf.

    ______________

Would fisting and power bottom jokes suffice as working harder Ken?
    I think so.

  31. Joe Says:

    They had broke necks too?

  32. Hodad Says:

If fans are giddy because JPP just showed up it only means they’re as delusional as Jason Licht. The reason JPP showed up is because he’s sniffing around for the rest of the 7 million he’s owed. Don’t worry JPP, Licht loves paying players who hang around just for the paycheck. See Brent Grimes last year.

  33. Buc4evr Says:

Well at least he didn’t blow his left thumb off…….yet.
