Gameday Tampa Bay

August 23rd, 2019

Preseason Game 3

Browns at Bucs

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

TV: WFLA-TV Channel 8; NFL Network. (Game will also be rebroadcast on NFL Network Saturday at 7 a.m. and Tuesday at 10 a.m.)

DirecTV Customers And Cordcutters: DirecTV and Nexstar, owner of WFLA-TV, are in a contract hassle and the Tampa Bay area rightsholder to locally-produced Bucs preseason TV games is blacked out in the Tampa Bay area on DirecTV. However, Bucs fans in select Florida and Alabama TV markets, including the Tampa Bay region, can watch the game streamed free on Buccaneers.com and via the Bucs’ official app. Click here for more details.

Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (WXTB-FM 97.9 in the Tampa-St.Petersburg region; 97.9 FM ESPN Radio in Tallahassee); Spanish language broadcasts on WTMP-FM 96.1 and WMGG-AM 1470 in Tampa; SiriusXM Channel 829, national feed Channel 88.

Weather: Could be rainy early on but per AccuWeather.com most of the game should be rain-free. After thunderstorms around kickoff with the temperature expected to be 84, look for cloudy skies the rest of the evening with temperatures only slightly dropping to 81 by game’s end.

Odds: Per the Mirage in Las Vegas, Browns -3.0; O/U 42.5.

Outlook: Joe will keep this brief (for a couple of reasons). It is the preseason. Tonight is commonly known as the dress rehearsal for the season-opener as the fourth preseason game next week is a celebration of insurance claims adjusters, history teachers, grief counselors, 911 dispatchers, history teachers, baggage handlers and barbers. In other words, dudes putting out tape for XFL gigs. Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians stated if the offense is sharp early tonight, then he will pull the starters soon after. Please let the offense be sharp. Defensively, it would give Joe confidence to see the secondary lock down the dangerous Browns receivers. This game should be a nice test for the Bucs defense as the Browns have enough offensive weapons to pass themselves off as an NFC South club.

Directv will blackout the local network and nfl network BASTARDS!! The stream isn’t much better. Trust me I’ve completely given up. Best best is to grab some rabbit ears and see if you can pick up the local channel.

As for the game I have no love for Baker but I think Higgins will crave our secondary up and spit them out. Browns by far have the best wr core in the league oh and a pretty good backfield too.

Once again if Garrett lines up against Dotson just pull Jameis out the game, call a timeout, jameis should just work off the field etc.

I’m starting to get jerked up for this defense. First practice game forced two fumbles(one recovered) and had two INT opportunities (one negated and one dropped.

Practice Game 2 had one INT and one INT drop. Also batted numerous balls &forced a fumble on special teams. Added a slew of sacks too which are splash plays waiting to happen.

Can’t wait to see what’s in store for tonight!!! This defense is showing real signs of splash play ability. I expect this to continue tonight.

There is still a lot of work to be done and we ate rough in a couple areas but am loving this attack style defense! Lotta fun.

    GO BUCS!!!!

I saw that it will be recast Sunday the 25th at 4pm per PFT.

On WTTA CHANNEL 11. Not sure if that’s a local station

Maybe Joe can hire one of the roster cuts as a proofreader because they sure could use one.

I hope they sit the important starters. I can live with a boring preseason game if it means going into the season healthy.

It really isn’t hard to hook up a digital antenna to your TV, Joe. Spend the $50 plus a long coax cable and switch to the antenna for the games. You’ll get HD pic with no issues at all, especially in Tampa. I’m in Bradenton and I get a perfect pic with an antenna (although I recently got the Spectrum TV App so I get all of the local channels plus others now).

Anyone know if you have Sunday ticket on direct tv if it shows it?

  14. Cometowin2 Says:

Preseason games are not included on Sunday Ticket. Can do a free one week trial on NFL.com gamepass and get the game that way.

  15. Cometowin2 Says:

Good day to live in New Mexico instead of Tampa.
