“A Sleeper My Whole Life, Really”

July 12th, 2019

Did they find a sleeper in Round 6?

Joe realizes the power of video editing and its ability to manipulate viewers.

Sometimes, though, editing can just drive home an honest point quickly.

The latter seems to be in play in the new video produced by the Buccaneers below. It’s a feature on rookie receiver Scotty Miller, the Bucs’ late-sixth-round pick out of Bowling Green.

At 5-9, 175 pounds, Miller is a super speedy slot receiver hopeful who is known for taking big hits. He’s also known for talking about how hard he’s working — and will work — to silence the doubters that have followed him for his entire football life.

Miller goes deeper on being underappreciated in this video, “a sleeper my whole life, really” is how he referred to himself.

Of course, the proverbial daily chip on a shoulder doesn’t make a guy good enough for the NFL. But it’s better than the alternative. Joe’s not writing off Miller. The Jason Licht regime certainly has a strong track record of drafting/finding/developing receivers.

  2. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Maybe, he can play corner back?

  3. Race to 10 Says:

Yea we’ll see what the talk is alike after he takes his first NFL hit then get back to me if your durable. Cant wait to see who’s brittle after the pads come on. Then we know who can be counted on

  4. Bucsfanman Says:

He’s wearing #10?! OMG! That is so disrespectful to DJax and Hump!!!
Looking at the big baby who used to wear #93!

We’re going to need some of these “sleepers” to produce.

  5. 941scott Says:

rookie im most excited about is the kicker…if he’s 85% that’s better than anyone since matt bryant left

  6. Pryda...sec147 Says:

Good luck in training camp I’m sure you’ll make the team!

  7. El Buco Realisto Says:

“sleepers” are what Buc nation will be calling game day with all the times the Bucs will get blown out on Sundays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Jason Licht the master of drafting “sleepers” who sleep thru a 5-11 season. Where is Kenny Bell

  9. Maze Says:

    Steal of the draft

  10. Cobraboy Says:

Nobody with his speed can be considered a “sleeper.”

  11. Lord Cornelius Says:

We are super deep at WR.

    Biggest questions on team =

RG #1 – are we really going to start Earl Warford or whoever? Is Alex Cappa useless? God help us then.

Secondary #2 – we at least are 4 deep on potential starters here. It’s more so a question of who emerges and how good they end up being.

OLB/DE #3 – Nassib = pretty proven. Barret = solid rotational piece. But I’m mainly interested to see the potential of Anthony Nelson & either Daniels or Kenny in the rotation. Noah Spence = complete unknown basically that we can’t count on but hoping we’re surprised.

I wish we could have had Hump for one more year with this guy Scotty, would have been mic to have Scotty learn the position from one of the better slot receivers in the league! Go Scotty and Go Xavier Ubosi bring the Swagger!!

Cobra…what…a positive comment inserted in this thread? At least somebody gets it.

Guys. If you can’t get jacked up by this story then you need to head to the dictionary and look up JADED. Or if I may use a “weed” metaphor…burnt out!

This guy may or may not make it. But I’m already rooting for him! And again this is what has me excited about this team..there seems to be far more than a talent injection but also a MUCH NEEDED attitude injection. Our draft picks all have the right attitudes. From top to here at the bottom.

White knows how good he is and so does everybody else…he’s never been overlooked but it doesn’t satisfy him…you can tell he WANTS to be the best.

It seems we’ve added some hunger to this roster with our draft.

    I agree St Pete
I think this is the best draft in a decade for sure.

  15. WhatTheBuc Says:

Everyone that says this guy is too small needs to go check Djax’s measurements. He may not turn into the player that D Jax is but he’s not too small and he’s faster than D Jax.

I’m not worried about that. Safeties and cornerbacks don’t get that much bigger and stronger from college to pros. It’s linebackers, ends and fat boys who put the most on, I would think. Oh yeah… linebackers. Maybe you’re right.

And a brain power injection. All of these draft picks, judging from their interviews that I have listened to, seem to be a bunch smarter than the usual Lichtweight fare. Thank Arians for targeting team leaders and non-boneheads to train. Why is Licht still here?

  18. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

The Bucs need a prayer at this point. Says the season ticket holder since 2013.

  19. D1 Says:

    Barack smokes crack,

I definitely noticed the same thing. From the first interviews to the latest the new crop seems to reflect a different approach to player evaluation and acquisitions. I see these guys having an impact on the field and in the locker room, which isn’t something that I thought about with the previous guys.

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Little, quick guys rarely give big guys a full target to hit. It is not surprising that many little guys last a long time in the NFL.

Look at Warrick Dunn. He was no monster, and how many times did he get royally lit up? Very, very few.

I am not at all worried about Scott Miller’s size. AS long as guys like him keep their quicks, they won’t take many big shots by big guys.

The rookies haven’t even taken a snap in an NFL training camp and we have people proclaiming it’s greatness. Ah the amount of delusions that result for 11 years of missed playoffs, virtually every year in the NFC South Basement.

All hail Licht! The greatest GM with a 27-53 record in NFL history!!
